Guest Reviews
- Darlene Schmidt (10/5): - Convenience, affordable and clean.
- Rooney (10/5): - Staff All was great
- Ali (1/5): - Absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had. The owner/receptionist was extremely rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. Instead of treating guests with respect, I was cursed at and spoken to in a hostile manner. The behavior toward me felt openly racist and discriminatory, which made the situation even more upsetting.
I have never been treated with such disrespect by any hotel or business. No customer should ever feel humiliated, insulted, or unsafe while simply trying to stay at a place they paid for. Their conduct was unacceptable and far below any standard of professionalism or hospitality.
I would never recommend Virginia Inn to anyone. If you value respectful treatment and professional service, stay somewhere else.

- GBrausam (8/5): - Spacious room. Good shower. Fluffy towels. A bit dark. Pillows too firm.
- Deanna (10/5): -
- JC (8/5): - Bed was comfortable. Clean. Good location Electrical outlet on only one side of bed.
- Mays (10/5): - The bed was very comfortable and it was quiet there
- Craig (7/5): - . Loud party going on upstairs and no invite

- Claire (1/5): - They gave me a room that was occupied by someone else when i was booked in. So i used the room key card to open the door to a room i thought was mine, only to find a woman in bed screaming at me. It was terrifying for both of us. Honestly I could’ve been extremely harmed barging into someone’s room uninvited.
- Berkstresser (3/5): - People I paid extra for the hot main reason we stayed there the jets barley worked
- Heather (2/5): Overpriced and dirty. Won't be back. - The location was easy to find There was no breakfast. The room was very outdated and dirty. And it was overpriced
- Gautier (8/5): - I just wanted to sleep and shower. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fine. The room was kind of cold in temperature and in lighting.
- Michelle (10/5): Great value and hospitality - Clean and comfy with no noise. Staff are wonderful and accommodating, I would highly recommend.
- Allan (9/5): -
- Thorne (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): -
- Kathy (2/5): I would not stay here again due to the issues we experienced. - Great location with very friendly staff. Nice size room. Very old, dirty and our room had a VERY strong cigarette smoke odor. We opened windows and went through an entire can of Febreeze to make it through our two day stay.
- Betty (6/5): It was clean, staff was friendly and efficient . - Location great
Bedding and linens good
Actual bed was great Definitely needs painted and curtains and chair updated. No towel racks and the hairdryer needs hung back on the wall or replaced with portable one.

- Jeanine (10/5): Price was good. Location was good. Not a bad option if you are in the area. - It was a convenient location for where I was. Everything about the property was how it should be.
- Laury (10/5): - Clean, comfortable rooms!
Excellent staff!
- George (6/5): -
- Korey (7/5): I’m one who doesn’t like to pay a lot for a place to sleep. This place was more than satisfactory and I would stay here - Price was right. Room was spacious and clean. Friendly owners A little outdated but everything worked
- diane (8/5): Nice room for the price - Clean and quiet Bathroom stayed a little cooler than rest of room
- Philip (10/5): Was in town for work and just needed a low cost place to stay. My room was more than worth what I pa - Very clean room. My room actually exceeded what I was expecting for the price of my room. Very comfortable. I arrived later at night and checked in with Sky and he was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me. Also a small detail that I liked was that the showers were usable by taller people. Im 6 foot 1 so its rare that I dont have to duck under in the shower but I didnt need to with the showers in my room. 10 out of 10 rating. Will absolutely stay here again if im in town I have no complaints at all about my stay
- Nelson (4/5): Muy costosa - El precio fue muy alto para la calidad de la habitación la habitación le falta hacerle mantenimiento a los cielos rasos y a la ducha
- Maria (6/5): - I liked the location of the hotel. It was close to a gas station, grocery store, and food places. I thought the room could be a little cleaner. There were items laying around that were left there from previous people. The floors also could have been vacuumed.
- Julie (8/5): A stop on a long drive - Comfortable bed. Refrigerator and microwave in room. A little offering for breakfast. Very friendly and helpful person at front desk A little off the interstate but not too bad to find
- ssnook60 (10/5): Alway A Wonderful Experience! - I am a bit gobsmacked by some of the negative reviews on this motel. It is a drive up, 2 star motel. It is NOT the Ritz. My wife and I have stayed here for years while visiting our son in Lawrence. Without exception, we have had a wonderful experience. We have stayed in many different rooms with no issues. Beds are extremely comfy. The rooms are always very clean. The family that runs this motel are EXTREMELY kind, and will go out of their way to make your stay the best possible experience. You pay $30 to $50 less than pretty much any other motel/hotel in Lawrence. The Virginia Inn has always exceeded our expectations, and is a GREAT value!
- RaDean (5/5): See above - Did not feel secure. Chain broken on connected room door. Booking rating was 7.3 and NO WAY would I rate above a 5. See above
- yvserra (6/5): Fair cost-benefit. Simple place but clean and with a nice staff - Definitely, the price is the greatest advantage of this place. The beds were pretty comfortable and I found the room clean. The breakfast was quite simpler that what I've seen in other hotels of the same category.
- Drazek (9/5): Fantastic staff - I liked to location for our trip and being next to a Japanese steak house. Bonus Nothing
- harvey (6/5): - My wife said they did not provide shampoo and conditioner 2) The a/c was very loud.
- Talbert (7/5): -
- Diana (9/5): -
- Douglas (4/5): -
- alexandrea (10/5): Would stay here again - The room was a good size and it was clean. The TV was probably 50" and you don't see that often. The heater worked very well. I also liked that there were no stairs to get to the 2nd floor. I was flat. So if you're disabled, it's easy access. I have a bad hip and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They were quick to fix a mistake and upgraded me. I'd definitely stay here again. At first I was out off because the initial room I got was not cleaned yet, however, they apologized and put me in a bigger room that was very clean so that made up for it. They definitely should check beforehand but mistakes happen so it's ok.
- Corona (10/5): -
- Allan (9/5): - It is value for money
Owner is very accommodating
- Don (8/5): - While not much to look at on the outside it superseded expectations on the inside. Great value.
- Sharla (10/5): -
- Tara (7/5): Ok for price but cold - Good price, easy to set up Room was very cold when we arrived. Turning on the heat would have helped. Still bathroom area was very cold even with the heat. Had trouble using the tv also. Seemed like the tv had either bad remotes or bad batteries in remotes. We could not adjust the volume any higher (maybe it was restricted) and with the heater on, we could barely hear the tv.
Sheets had a stale smell in my opinion. Room was clean but maybe the funk was there due to no one in the room.
- Susan (9/5): -
- Williams (7/5): I stayed almost a week and they didn't even offer a weekly rate when they had it - They kept on overcharging me plus charged me $25 extra that I think was right
- Salvador (10/5): Quick and simple no extra or hidden fees , I would highly recommend - Clean bathrooms no bad smell and friendly staff Honestly there wasn’t anything wrong I always enjoy my stay here at the Virginia INN
- Allan (9/5): -
- Jeffries (10/5): -
- April (10/5): - Easy to find. Staff was super friendly Nothing!
- Jessup Bordson (2/5): Would not stay at this location again - The hotel was close to the University Campus very low quality, grungy carpets, cob webs above bed, bathroom had dead bugs in tub
- Meadows (8/5): I will stay there again, when I get to Lawrence. - I didn't use their breakfast.
Kein Brot.
- Newman (7/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): It was an easy two days stay in an unfamiliar town. - The night clerk was very friendly and helpful. She said there was a little breakfast in the morning. I just got a water. There were no USB PORTS TO PLUG IN my electronic devices. My football and volleyball teams were on TV. The inn was a couple of miles from the Leid Center where I was going which was nice. It was nice driving through town except for the construction which going on in all the towns.
- Darrel (8/5): Clean spacious bargain - Great bargain. $129 all in per night for a spacious room in a good location. And access to the second floor is via a ramp. I loved it. Wheeled the cases up and actually enjoyed the big, two-way space. It’s an old property so there’s a faintly musty smell, but not offensive. And one of the 2 mattresses was a bit swayback. We just slept on the other one. You expect some minor trade offs at a price like this.
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Curtis (10/5): - Clean and comfortable. An employee was sweeping up trash and cigarette from the parking lot! Very impressed
- Scott (5/5): Over priced because it was parents weekend. Should have paid $125 a night or less for what it was. Beds were good, loca - Bed was comfortable Pictures make it it look nicer. It’s a motel
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Excellent - The staff was very nice and cared about our experience Plenty of parking. I pulled a utility trailer and had plenty of space
- Kurt (10/5): -
- Joyce (10/5): - Clean room
Friendly staff
- Tekeari (1/5): My stay was terrible DO NOT STAY HERE - The property was terrible The staff at front desk racist liars nasty bugs flying everywhere the room was disgusting stain in the bed air stinks and doesn’t work
- Curt (10/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): - Well priced, quiet safe area, Stores and places to eat in short walking distance.
- Daub (10/5): I feel refreshed and ready to hit the road! - Very spacious room. Bed was very comfortable. Very quiet. Everything was great!
- Yeimi (7/5): It's not a super fancy place but if it's for a night or two I would stay again. - The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a very quiet place and was able to get good sleep. It was close to downtown Lawrence which is where we spent most of our time. The room could have been cleaned better. One of the comforters had stains on it and what appeard to be shoe prints. There was stains on the walls and dirt on the floor.
- Sofia (9/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): For a 2-star (no luxury or any kind of special amenity) hotel, it was clean, roomy, close to KU campus. - Room was big and bath was clean. The front desk was very friendly. Dark rooms, very small area for breakfast.
- Roxanne (2/5): - I felt like I was sleeping in the projects in Chicago.
- Darrell (8/5): - Old but clean
- Malgorzata (6/5): - Good price for what you get. This was my second time at the hotel. Beds were clean, bathrooms clean. Some dead bugs on the floor.
Bring more shampoo with you if you stay longer than 1 day. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast.
- Allan (10/5): - Staff is friendly and responsive to need.
- John (10/5): -
- Frank (1/5): -
- Candance (10/5): - It was a nice and clean room!
- Franco (3/5): -
- Beverly (10/5): - Room was a good size room hotel was clean and breakfast was good
- Margaret (8/5): - Dated but good. Good bed, towels and Tv. Loud AC but works. Spent one night in safe location
- Adam (8/5): -
- Candida (5/5): - Took forever to filll the spa tub to enjoy.
- Gordon (8/5): Take a room on the ground floor. The upper floor rooms are noisier. - The guy that ran the place was great. Noise in the upper floor rooms
- Mowafak (7/5): Very pleasant host, but a dated room - The room has king size bed and the owners/hosts are very kind The room looked old and not well maintained. It also had a musty smell
- Eileen (7/5): - Breakfast had no hot items nor protein Room was spacious
- ceetee00 (6/5): Fits Your Needs - This a drive up to the door motel. No problem. The rooms are fine for anyone's needs. The sink is separate from the bathroom. Theres a fridge and a microwave. The water came out lukewarm when turned to the cold setting which is fine for a shower but not for a cold cup of water. The free breakfast is prepackaged rolls and donut sticks. Check in easy, check out easy.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - The room was clean and comfortable at a great price.
- Slove (10/5): -
