Guest Reviews
- Baker (10/5): Good cheap stay - The Room
- gustavo (10/5): Excelente ! Muy recomendable ! -

- rodrigo (10/5): - Amabilidad del personal
Breakfast was served from a menu with photos, and there was no limit to the amount, so I ate my fill. Nearby is the large shopping mall “ Capital Center ”, where you can find many international and myanmar brand clothing items and various restaurants and big supermarket. The Wi-Fi signal was very weak; you had to go to the lobby on the first floor to get a signal.
- Lubega (9/5): Splendid service for the little amout paid. Keep it up - Spacious room A few staff need to smile more and give immediate attention to requests from guests.

- veronika (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff, good room, not so far from Mandalay hill and Palace
- erocavalls (1/5): No vayan.
- Kevin (8/5): A great value hotel for visiting Mandalay - A value hotel in a good location in Mandalay.
No frills, but the Wifi worked fine and the room was well equipped and kept very clean.
The staff were very helpful and very friendly.
- Maria Fernanda (9/5): -
- Sebastian (9/5): Go to Myanmar - Das Hotel ist empfehlenswert.
- Keenan (8/5): - Ac unit was bad other than that everything was good
- Illingworth (7/5): Good - Staff was very nice and very accomodating
- Julien (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cameron (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (10/5): The staff were so kind and welcoming. - This was exceptional value for money. In difficult times, they looked after us so well. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Come and support them. You will not regret it. Nothing.
- Tami (7/5): Good - Breakfast is so so
- Danilo (5/5): Ok - The location is ok, there is a bakery next to the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helps you with info, taxi, and bus for example. We did some laundry and the staff mixed light and strong colors, it ended up with my handmade shirt and shorts getting color from my wife's scarf (pink). I had bought them in Inle Lake, so it was extremely frustrating. My wife also had a problem with light green getting pink spots. Be careful if you do some laundry there.
When we got to the room there was a strong smell of cigarettes. We get used to it, but it was very unpleasant when we entered the room. The floor was broken in some spots.
- Danilo (5/5): Ok -
- Denise (1/5): did not stay ../ wrong area poor conditions - nothing in a depressed area
passages very poor condition
room was ok
- Goran (8/5): Very good -
- Ken (10/5): - Nice location and clean. Bathroom could have an update, but acceptable. Staff is super good. After being ripped off by a tutu driver, the hotel front desk helped booked a nice driver who took us to see 4 cities with a reasonable price for the second day.
- Mun Yew (8/5): Could have been a Better Stay - The hotel location is very good. Service is generally acceptable but this stay had one unpleasant experience during breakfast. This was my 3rd stay. During breakfast, I was toasting bread when the staff asked me to take a seat and they will serve me. When it was ready, they serve to another guest!!! That guest just took it without question. When I told that guest that was my toast he got defensive and spoilt my morning. If the staff had been paying attention and serious about their service, this would not have happened.
- Kevin (10/5): Rooftop balcony! - Good Wi-Fi, comfortable bed and friendly staff. Have breakfast on the rooftop terrace.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable room, OK location - The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable with good pillows, and the internet worked well (around 14mbps). The breakfast was good, a decent selection of food, some western but mainly Asian. There's a nice rooftop terrace to dine in, but the menu doesn't have much Myanmar cuisine which was disappointing, especially as there aren't many restaurants or shops near the hotel. But other than the location, it was a comfortable stay and the staff were friendly.
- David (10/5): Good hotel. - Great hotel. Lovely people. Good location.
- Tony (10/5): Great hotel 5 minutes walk from train station. - Second visit to this hotel. Staff are attentive and their English is surprisingly good. Clorox to popular restaurant Shan Na Na that is always busy with locals and tourists. BBQ restaurant 5 minutes walk away.
- Gerald r (8/5): Do you know the way to Mandalay - The girl at the front desk was very smart and helpful (and funny at times). I thought the hotel was a good value. The breakfasts were only so-so.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very good value. - This was a very good value for money. The room was large and clean, the location was fine, although not great, the breakfast was great, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Moreover, all girls working in the hotel were pretty, if that makes a difference.
- Courtney (6/5): just meh... - stay was ok. staff were nice, but really loud when cleaning, making it hard to sleep. breakfast was not very good. the taxi drivrr they arranged to pick us up insisted on receiving more money than agreed upon before he took us to the hotel. bit of a racket.
- Courtney (6/5): good spot in Mandalay - very nice staff, comfortable room of a good size. breakfast not that great.
- David (8/5): great hotel near city palace - helpful staff
- Lori (10/5): Staff really helpful, professional - Stayed 2 nights on arrival to Myanmar, staff helped arrange a day tour and tickets to the marionettes. Room quite basic but right value for price. Around the corner from recommended Shan restaurant
- Renee (2/5): Avoid this hotel if you can - Even the staff are very friendly, and you can exchange money in the back (the rate is poor compared to the airport and the bank), the location is acceptable, the noises are bad starting at 5am from the streets (dogs often fight in the neighbourhood, chanting is less harmful but can be annoying if you are not into the rythme). Worst case, the windows can't be opened, blacked out with drapes, no natural lighting. Even that, the cooking smell would leak through. The shower has a plastic curtain forming a half circle. Breakfast is disgusting, not fresh, little selection. I suspect they use overnight leftovers. Maybe because it is run by Burmese Chinese? A1 hotel close to here doesn't have this reputation.
I didn't bother to move around because I only stayed for two nights. And I used it only for sleeping. The day I'm out.
The hotel is close to a popular local restaurant which I call it food stand. Don't order the three choices there (cold and disgusting), ask freshly cooked food, which is much much much better.
- Lily (10/5): Worth the value - My husband and I were there for 2 nights to visit Mandalay. We knew we were going to be out most of the time so didn't want to pay for a high end hotel just to sleep at night, hence booked this hotel after seeing all the good reviews. The location is just in the middle of the city, very close to the Mandalay palace and the night market. The room was clean and the bathroom was almost brand new. The staff was excellent - attentive and very helpful and tried their best to accomodate our needs. The mattress was albeit quite firm but was not much of a big problem after we asked for extra pillows. Overall, this is the perfect place if you are looking for a 3 star experience of a reasonable price.
- gary (10/5): - we enjoyed our stay. the staff was wonderful. the buffet breakfast was great. the room was very clean and everything functioned well. the location was very quiet at night.
- Jaume (6/5): Good for local standards - Decent hotel. Very nice and helpful staff. Amazing chicken curry at restaurant (with views). Wifi very slow. Shower was on the same level as bathroom with nothing to stop water from flowing.
- Charles Edward (10/5): Good value hotel. - Good location, cleanliness, and comfort. Excellent staff and breakfast.
- Angi (6/5): Disappointing - When I arrived it was around mid-day so the complimentary water was quite warm. I decided to put it in the fridge, but that was also warm! It took until the next morning for anything in the fridge to be cold. The air con also took quite a while to cool down.
When I went to leave the next day, I was informed it would be at least a 30 minute wait to get a taxi. Though they had asked how I had arrived (via plane) and when I was leaving ("tomorrow" I told them when I arrived), they never told me I had to request a taxi in advance until it was too late. Mandalay was my 3rd city in Myanmar and both of the previous were able to get me a taxi within minutes, with no advanced warning, so I did not expect this. I got to the airport in time, and since my flight was delayed I had plenty of time. But considering 2 of my 4 domestic flights left early (as in 20-30 minutes early), I really think they need to inform their guests of this taxi policy - especially as the airport is a good 50-55 minutes away.
- David (8/5): Good for nights sleep - Stayed one night on way to Bagan. Mandalay is dirty city with not much going on. Hotel was clean and staff was pleasant and helpful booked morning boat to Bagan with them. Left before breakfast and they offered to pack fruit and bread for us. Good for one night close to train station. Wifi weak, but that normal for Myanmar.
- Stef (10/5): Convenient location and very helpful staff - The room was clean, good breakfast and the reception staff was extremely helpful. They did offer a room to have shower before I took the night bus.
- Charles (10/5): Mandalay memories - Hotel was very comfortable, staff very helpful and willing to please.
Area of no real worth to mention but shops and restaurants available within walking distance. Took taxi to and from all the sight seeing places with Ko San Gee (can be found on facebook) at a very reasonable price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight in Bangkok - Stayed on night on transit from Bagan to Bangkok, and great relief from hostel stays. Staff great, even on arrival after dark. Didn't want to gout and had acceptable food in hotel., Included breakfast on top floor with gre4at view in AM. Every one there very helpful. Rooms large and comfortable. Great value for the price, well worth the stay, and close to palace and temples if staying several days.
- Frazer (6/5): An OK hotel in an OK location - An OK hotel in an OK location. Everything was fine, and probably about what you'd expect for the price in this city. Marginally better than another hotel we stayed in for a similar price in the same area.
The room was still quite small, even though the views from the upper floor were quite good. There was a roof terrace but beer was the only drink option, so we skipped it. Breakfast was OK - the usual options. The staff were helpful and booked onward travel for us. Internet was marginally better than in other places.
- Claude (6/5): Nice hotel but very small room and no view - Never had such a small room and wath was worst a small window with absolutly no view with the exception of a ciment wall one feet away... The carpets in the corridors need to be changed.
- leon (8/5): Good stop for one or two nights. - It was a good stay. The staff is super. They did everything to be helpful.
- Tony (10/5): Excellent centraly located hotel - Two blocks from train station. Two ATMS nearby. Small supermarket nearby. Great local restaurants for evening meals. Very friendly staff. Nothing bad to say at all.
- DB (8/5): Good quality/price ratio - Clean room with a good shower, decent breakfeast, centrally located. Welcoming staff with a good command of English. I recommend this place. Some rooms have no view (opening on a close neighbouring wall) but others are fine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ideal location, perfect service - This was the best hotel i stayed in , in Myanmar. The staff was very polite and helpful with info about the city, sorting out transport. You can also borrow the hotel bicycle for free. Centrally located, the rooms on the top floors offer great views so does the breakfast room. Will definitely stay again
- john (8/5): Value boutique hotel - We spent a total of 4 nites at the Royal Pearl, Mandalay and opted for the larger (superior?) room which was a good choice/value. A very clean boutique hotel with excellent, very helpful staff, at an acceptable location with an adequate breakfast (included) with workable aircon and wifi. Taxis more expensive than Yangon and location might be considered to be the "wrong" side of the railroad tracks (along 29th Street) which are a major demarcation and barrier to the more stylish (?) south side of Mandalay town. Not a big issue to us as we preferred the more "local" markets which are within (relatively)easy walking distance.
- Chamorn (8/5): Nice Hotel, Clean and Good Location - Nice Hotel, room is clean, Location is good, can walk to train station and Palace and easy to go to super market.
- Tage (6/5): OK Tage - It vas excelent
- Jintana (10/5): nice hotel - During I stay at hotel, I found that the owner at the hotel are very nice and friendly, also the service there very nice too. the service men and ladies are very kind and helpful which I never find in other country before. I hope if I have
a chance I will visit again for sure.
- christopher (6/5): Well Rounded Hotel - Service was great. Very attentive to my needs. Restaurant was nice, decent food, again, very attentive staff. The room was clean, window looked at another building 1/2 meter away. The bathroom was very clean, maybe even new (Nov 2015). They let me keep my bag there for 2+ days for free while I took a motorbike trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely Hotel in a great Location - I stayed at the Royal Pearl for two separate nights and both experiences were very good. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and there was a good view of Mandalay from the window. This hotel is located only 5 minutes from the station so it was perfect for me because I had to be up at 3am to catch the 4am train to Hsipaw. It is also located only 10mins taxi ride from Mandalay Hill.
- Yvonne (6/5): Would stay here again - Room was adequate size. Water from bathroom shower flows all over the floor, as it is open to the bathroom. Hotel near the night market and several other o
Hotels in area.front counter staff spoke English and were very helpful in arranging sightseeing tours.
- isabel (10/5): Great intro to Myanmar - Mingala ba.
Arrived at 3:15 PM for a one night stay. Greeted with a refreshing drink by friendly staff with good English. Anticipated our tourist needs and had organized a taxi to our choice site (u-Bien Bridge) and also the tickets for the cruise down the Irrawaddy River within 15 minutes of our arrival.
Jay zu bae.
Thank you very much.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value for money - Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good sized clean room. Good wifi (for Myanmar) and central location.
Breakfast could be improved if they had some pastries on offer!
- Eva (8/5): Great place for the money - Nice hotel in Mandalay. We enjoyed our stay here and it seems the best deal in town for a nice comfortable room. Front desk was very helpful. Breakfast was decent and the beds were decently comfortable (all beds in Myanmar are terribly hard and feel like you're sleeping on concrete).
- Napoleon (10/5): Convenient hotel in a quiet part of Mandalay - A very clean hotel near the center of town, train station, and the Royal Palace. It is situated in a not so busy street. The staff were amazingly friendly and always smiling. They were very helpful about things to do in town and short trips outside town.
- CARLOS (10/5): Great hotel, superb staff! - Great stay in Mandalay. Comfortable room with air conditioning, tv, hot shower and minifridge. Very good buffet breakfast served on the top floor every morning.
What really exceeded our expectations was the staff's perfomance. Really nice people who will go above and beyond to make your stay the best possible.
If you're planning on visiting Mandalay, look no further. Great value for money and exceedingly good service from everyone from the staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok standard, good internet - Hotel was fine by Myanmar standards.
What stood out on the plus side was:
+ Very helpful staff
+ Good internet connection (again, by Myanmar standards)
And on the negative:
- Foul smell in the bathroom
The breakfast was decent and the overall state of the hotel was fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very helpful front desk staff, great air conditioner!
- Christine (8/5): Pleasant, friendly stay in Mandalay - Let's be clear, Mandalay is not a vacation resort, and this was not a resort hotel. It was, however, a clean, cheerful & pleasant stay with everything we could have needed at a great price. The staff was friendly, helpful & spoke great English. They offered money changing at the hotel & we booked mini-bus tickets with convenient direct hotel pick up. We booked a superior room, wifi was ok, air con was great, bathroom was clean & nice, breakfast buffet had many options & the view from the top floor restaurant was really nice. Thanks for a great stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good and clean place to stay in Mandalay - We stayed here for four nights and we had a pleasant stay. A double room wasn't available for the 4 consecutive nights (we would have had to change rooms after the first night), so we took the free upgrade to a superior twin they offered us instead.
The rooms were clean with daily room service and two small bottles of water included per day. The bathroom was modern, clean and big.
WiFi was available in the room with good signal strength, but the speed was quite slow. It was still the best we had in Myanmar though, as internet speeds seem to be a general problem in this country.
Breakfast was included and was buffet style consisting of coffee, juice, several hot Asian food (5 or 6 different ones), toast and jam, and fruits and cookies.
The staff were helpful and helped us book a driver for a tour of the 3 ancient cities, bus to Bagan, and taxis.
Location of the hotel is OK, very close to the Air Asia free shuttle bus drop off point and the train station and only a few blocks from the Zegyo market. For all the attractions like Mandalay Hill, Pagodas and Palace you'll need a taxi though which reception is happy to call for you.
- Alberto (10/5): Nice hotel - Very nice hotel for the price. It's near the old city on a quiet street. The staff are always trying to help and give tips. They also have free bicycles to use for their guests. The room was very very clean and spacious and the morning buffet was quite decent for the price paid. The restaurant has a nice view and the price are alright for lunch and supper. (and the food quite tasty :-) )
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a good hotel.
Stuffs were kind, our room was clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): nice modern hotel with good internet - Nice modern hotel, good breakfast, good location, and pretty good internet too! Will definitely stay there again on my next visit.
- John (10/5): Mandalay - Gr8 new hotel pn 29/80 street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic Value! - Excellent experience at the Pearl Hotel!! Great quality.
