Guest Reviews
- Guillermo (4/5): Tick bites and security risks - The hotel is nice but the location is very remote. You need a 4x4 car to reach and it takes 30min from the paved road, very dangerous road. I arrived a Monday and was the only guest in the property. We were handed over the keys and left alone, no personnel left in the middle of the darkness.
Same story Tuesday and during the day we were very worried when we left because the back door didn’t lock. Again remember nobody on the hotel premises either guests or employees. Restaurant closed both days. Situation changed Wednesday because another family that traveled with us arrived.
But then my baby 18 months old got bitten by a Tick and then also myself. Lots of insects and mosquitoes as well.
I wouldn’t recommend the property even if the hotel is nice. Problem is that the owner is not around and the staff is not interested in customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner of this hotel is nothing short of amazing.
He will help with any arrangements.
The hotel is such a fantastic price, superb food - the pizza "wow".
Go and check this hotel out.
- Larry (8/5): Nice, mellow, beach-rural spot. - For my first 2 nights in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, this was perfect. Great host, casual food / bar ambience, nice pool. No pushiness...but they had everything I needed. Marbella is a very rustic, rural village - next to some world-class surf beaches. This is a great place to stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice Hotel...in the middle of nowhere. - This review should be two separate reviews, one based on the hotel and one on the location. The hotel is brand new and it has nice amenities such as a good resteraunt, good water pressure, nice pool area and gorgeous rooms with satellite tv. I would rate the hotel a 5 out of 5.
Our issue was with the location. It seemed to us that it was more central but it is about 18 km on a gravel road that during rainy season is very rough and one of the other access roads was completely washed out. This hotel is truly in the middle of nowhere and we found it very difficult to get to. There are no resteraunts in the area (though the hotel food was very good and reasonable in price).
If you are wanting total seclusion this place is for you. We were hoping to have this as a home base but the roads and location didn't allow that. The staff was friendly and the owner was accommodating but it didn't quite work out for us.
We wouldn't stay there again and actually decided to cut our trip short one night.
- kelly (8/5): Comfortable stay not too far from a lovely beach - Large, clean, modern rooms with kitchenette, well kept grounds, and a great pool. Open rancho area had potential but was always playing news on the t.v. which took away from the desired vacation ambiance. A short drive to the beach, not really walking distance away. Beach was lovely though not good for surfing while we were there. Well kept grounds and mostly friendly staff. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location and staff really nice. Owner is a good guy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful hotel with only 6 rooms in a very peaceful village. Swimming pool, restaurant, bar, wifi... Amazing surf spot. Food in the restaurant is good, but walk 5 minutes to Pipidi's when you want to try something even more authentic. The owners and the staff were great, very helpful.
I highly recommend it if you're looking for a place to relax and surf.
