- Cynthia (10/5): Holiday Acres was a great find. - Beautiful resort along a lake. We sat on the boat dock at night and watched the northern lights; once in a lifetime memory. Some staff were there and helped us to learn a little more about the natural phenomena. Just lovely!

- Annette (10/5): - This was such a neat resort. Gift shop, restaurant, tennis, water activities, there was even a wedding ceremony and reception outside by the barn . Horse carriages. So cool. Right on Lake Thompson. It's nestled back in the woods with approximately 30 cabins for rent. Rooms were very nice. Great atmosphere, quite and quaint. Would definitely go back!

- Daniel (7/5): Step back in time to the days of real family vacations... - I call it the "Dirty Dancing Resort" because it's like stepping back in time to the 60's or 70's... Literally. The lake and activities are great. Truly a "camp" feel. If you're nostalgic at all... you'd like this place. The horse drawn wagon ride, family cook-out, and hoodak treasure hunt are truly neat things to experience. Wi-fi is probably the most updating they've done since 1970, and it's not super great. If you're looking for all the modern amenities, this is not the place for you. You're stepping back in time when you stay here.

The room at the lodge was a great size, comfortable bed, and I love the cable channels as well as the whirl pool. There are plenty of towels available as well. Noisy air conditioner, it would wake us up through the night. The bathroom fan is extremely loud and noisey, and the walls are being paper thin from neighbors and a lot of pounding sounds you can hear, and it startles you at times. The mini freezer being full of ice could use a good defrost.

- Lil (9/5): Great visit to the Rhinelander area - Typical Northwoods resort, rustic, beautiful location, family owned (third generation) who work the resort and connect with their guests. one of the owners was personally manning the grill on the cookout night, chatting with guests while cooking their meat, others were on the property offering help to guests who appeared to be looking for something and then conversing with them. The resort provided the sides on an evening the restaurant was closed and to have an owner cooking was impressive. the Lodge room was large and well equipped with microwave, fridge, coffee maker as well as hot showers and the rooms were clean. There are many cabins on the property for rent as well. Great stay! quieter fan in bathroom which turned on every time the bathroom light was turned on.

Need ramps or level walk entrance at least into side Lodge door. With uneven sidewalks and steps it’s difficult even to wheel and lift heavy items into building let alone a wheelchair.

- Patrick (8/5): Excellent location, Great staff, at a family run resort. - The location was great and the lodging was cute and comfortable. They had plenty of amenities. We had a Jacuzzi King room that was spacious and nice. The staff was excellent in making preparations with me for our anniversary trip to hike around the area. Really cool lounge. Keep in mind this is an older family resort. Somethings are dated and some could use improvement. Namely the mattress was very springy and kept us waking each other up in the night.

The after-hours number was not answered until the 3rd call. A key drop may come in handy for guests going forward, The restaurant was also closed on the day of my stay - this also would have been nice to know at the time I made the reservation. Thank goodness for Subway,

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location in the woods by the lake. Central lodge area very convivial. We stayed in a lodge room rather than a cabin which was rather dated and a bit tired with uncomfortable bed. No housekeeping service during 4 night trip which I was not aware would be the case.
- Brian (8/5): - People blocking boat landing so had to load boat up in shallow area very difficult also uneven when backing in the water . The person that owned the boat was there and seen that we were coming in put his boat in deepest part of the launch area.
- Taylor (10/5): New favorite location in Wisconsin - Kind and welcoming staff. Delicous breakfast and food. Calm and beautiful location. Wonderful accommodations. There is even a stable down the road to feed, pet, and ride horses. Ella, Tabitha and Pete are so nice! Fun daily activities planned by resort as well! Everything was great! We booked last minute, and thankfully, one room was available. Next time, I'd like to reserve a cabin so the whole family can stay in one place. We will be back in the winter and/or next summer!

- Gerald (10/5): - The resort is everything anyone could ask for , it in on a inland lake where you could bring your boat ,and fish or swim. There is tennis courts swiming pool weight room. The stall are great, and the food in the resterrant is really good.

While I was unable to use the amenities due to my schedule, it looked like a place for a family vacation in Northern Wisconsin. It was an older resort type property. There was limited food options on site. Few electrical outlets for modern electronics.
- Thijs (7/5): A short and relax stop in the Northwoods. - The hotel architecture is awesome and it is covered with a lots of trees and lake. It is a great atmosphere. The gift shop is the best building for the hotel resort. The bathroom for males nearby the indoor swimming pool is old and ugly. The hotel bathroom is nice but also old. The water of the shower is not very hot.

Pet friendly although we didn’t bring ours every one else did. Stayed at hotel walls and ceilings paper thin and heard everybody. Beach area small and shady. Room could use some touch ups for paint and grout.

- Mary (10/5): - Happy accident getting a room for a night when my car died in Rhinelander. Staff couldn't be more welcoming and friendly. Coffee shop and supper club in resort, so not having car was no problem. Shopped for hodags at the cute gift shop and just relaxed with a view of the lawn, trees and shore of the lake. Reliable wifi so I could get some work done too. Everything smells truly clean, not that gross fake smell that makes you think the bed linens got sprayed down instead of washed. Head and shoulders better value for business traveler than the up north chains. i am coming back here for a proper vacation!!

- Tatiana (9/5): Weekend getaway on Lake Thompson - Beautiful and quiet location in the woods, good size room with air conditioner, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, kayak/canoe rental, well kept grounds, very good restaurant on site 5-8p, coffee shop with good coffee and some breakfast options, friendly staff, free airport shuttle. No food on site between 11 am and 5 pm. The coffee shop is quite bleak and lacks fresh air. (The outdoor sitting area is small and has no shade.)

- Linda (8/5): Holiday Acres certainly met our needs and the location, on a lake and in the woods, is wonderful. - This was a family gathering for Minneapolis, MN, Escanaba, MI, and Elcho, WI. We have had quite a few family events here, including three weddings, over 50 years or so. I have also recommended it to others from Minneapolis and I know some of them returned for several summer vacations. We stayed in the lodge. Rooms are just ok, but the restaurant and bar is outstanding. We had a party of 10 for dinner one night and both service and food was excellent. While the lodge rooms were clean, they are very dated. Bed linens and towels were just fine. I noticed that they also removed carpeting and put vinyl flooring in the rooms with a rug by the door. MUCH better than carpeting in this pandemic-laden era. I also thought it might not be asking too much to have decent coffee available in lobby in the morning. We had to drive 6-7 miles into a KwikTrip for it.

- Gordon (4/5): Not very good. Overrated and expensive. - Expensive for the room condition and amenities. A/C was at 54 degrees when I entered the room and could not be adjusted. Staff unplugged the unit because could not be fixed. WiFi did not work anywhere for anyone on the premises. Not a glitch; more like a feature. TV did not work. Finally, I insisted on getting a different room although staff was reluctant.

Who cares if the plants hanging in front of the windows of the dining room are dead, or that the king bed in Room 204 is so bowed toward the center that you can barely hold on. It’s on a lovely lake property with many opportunities for outdoor activities, a suitable dining room with a decent dinner menu and full bar. Honestly, it just seems tired. Or maybe I’m just not a lake country girl. But we got switched to a room where the bed didn’t sag and the a/c worked, and will go on our way today. The prices were fine. Carol (fd) and Roger (Gen Mgr?) were friendly and accommodating. Enough to say I would stay here again.

- Shonna (10/5): Awesome Cabin Located in the WI NorthWoods! - My daughter & a friend and I stayed in one of the private double cabins right on the water. We had our own dock (amazing night sky & star gazing) & fire pit. The cabin kitchen was well stocked with dishes & utensils for cooking & everything was clean! We weren't prepared for there to not be comforters on the beds so - it was a bit cold for sleeping. The staff was very friendly & easy to work with! We took advantage of the indoor pool, wifi, cable TV, & visited the on-site gift shop. Highly recommend! This was a great find & a gorgeous fall visit in mid October.
