Guest Reviews
- Tyler (2/5): Cockroaches and Mold - Cockroaches and mold.
- Artemis (2/5): - There were ants on my bed. The staff changed the bed sheets, but there were still ants. The room was really dirty. Someone had smoked and left ashes on the side of the window. The building is very badly maintained. There was mold everywhere. I put my suitcase against the wall and it became white. The window didnt have a safety bolt. When i asked for a refund they refused. Overall i wouldn't recommend to anyone to stay there.
- Johnny (4/5): - Staff was trying their best, but seemed uneducated in hospitality. Barging into my villa without even knocking is never appropriate.
The whole place seems to be under renovation and should be closed.
Breakfast was ok, but the staff didn't understand to keep the items hot, just left the lids open.
Dinner was a very limited emergency selection in a 2 hour window.
I checked out a day early and moved on...
- Rojarani (4/5): - The main lobby was moldy everywhere. Just lift your head up and look at the ceiling. Our villa was not as bad but still reeked of mold. Bathroom, kettle, bed sheets all had black mold. Fortunately we slept quick and woke up to a fly swarming breakfast. Just stuck to hot rice and lentils and checked out. Bedugul is super humid but the property maintenance did not help.
- Céline (4/5): - We liked the location close to the temple. The view on the lake.
We found horrible the general dirtyness (stains everywhere). The sheets did not even fit the bed... It's extremely humid and it smelled like mold.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Well-cared for and Clean Villas - The interior was super clean. The exterior could do with new paints on some villas. It was very cold during the night though (outside temp down to around 15°). No heating pad, no heater. So make sure you’re properly clothed.
- Rebecca Jane (8/5): Nearly there. A nice stay. - A lovely location and very helpful lovely staff. Breakfast buffet was varied. Stayed for dinner one evening and food was good then too. The hotel have a shuttle to the temple which was a surprise and very kind of them. They helped organise a driver for one full day who turned out to be the best driver we had all holiday.
Only downside was the damp in the room. There was no air conditioning and i think this didn't help the damp and black mould in the villa. Just needs drying out a bit and cleaning up the mould and it would have been perfect.
- Scott (8/5): - If you want to escape the heat and humidity near the beaches this is the place. It's cooler up in the mountains, the view is spectacular and -no- you really don't need A/C. The Balinese come here on their weekends. I did not see any of the other problems other reviews complained about except a trace of mold on the ceiling but no moldy smell so it didn't bother me. Room was clean and surprisingly spacious.
- Johanes (10/5): good reception - pelayanan yg sangat bagus pada waktu check in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Dirty linen and smelly rooms. FULL of flies and stains
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is good. However, the cleanliness of the accommodation was subpar. There was a lizard in our room not to mention under the bed had not been cleaned for quite some time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Car and driver to drop us places was great
Buffet breakfast had lots and lots of food fruit was great
Bed ok units need repair work but functioned
Great location
Towels nasty bed linen ok bed ok
Town house extra space very nice
Room service terrific
- Paul (8/5): Decent place. - Nice staff, good breakfast. Villa was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel is good , very comfort.Located at the center of Badugul town , walkable distance to mini marts. Just that the restaurant is a bit on high hill , nevertheless staff was friendly and able to drop you to the restaurant with hotel transport. Overall weather is cool and enjoyed my two days stay with my family, will recommend for others👍
- Verified traveler (4/5): - A bit bland. Restaurant was average. Location average
- Dirk (8/5): Got upgraded - interesting place - We booked a room for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a room in a 3-room 2-floor villa which we occupied alone - the other two rooms were locked. It had a spacious sitting area downstairs and a smaller one upstairs. Also a large balcony with lake view.
The room was clean, the private bathroom small but functional. We would have appreciated a bit more space between sink and toilet. The room and the downstairs sitting area had flat screen TVs with international channels.
There also was a small concrete backyard. The door to this did not lock properly and sprung open during our first night, which caused a bit of alarm. However, the fault was repaired the other day, so no problem during the second night.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, not only with the door issue. They help organising day trips and transport to the next hotel. The staff at the restaurant was very friendly, too.
The breakfast buffet was great - Balinese and Indonesian food as well as Western style treats. Unfortunately the dinner menu in the restaurant had next to none local dishes.
The area is rather noisy - for which the hotel cannot be blamed. A lot of dogs barking, some cats fighting, and we had some neighbors coming home noisily late at night. Surprisingly we had a much quieter stay in the centre of Ubud. But there is a lot to see and do in the village itself (water temple, botanical garden) as well as around it, so it is a good location for exploring the area.
- Amanda (10/5): Good location price and value - The villa was top notch the staff and room service was great. The location is in the city so it’s easy walking distance to anything around town including the temple.
- peter (4/5): Dirty hotel - The toilet smells. Rooms full of bugs! Avoid at all cost. Cold environment.
- david (6/5): We do not recommend this hotel - The approach to the hotel is down a lane off the main road. The reception is very smart. As seems common when the hotel is nearly empty we were upgraded.. This meant we had a terrace on the upper floor with a partial lake view.
Now the negatives. The villas are on a sloping hill behind the reception area. Ours was about Half way up the hill. The restaurant was at the top. On our second day our key-card failed to open our door not once but twice. The second time was at 9.30 at night. It was 80 metres down to reception to get it sorted and of course 80 metres uphill and wait for a lad to arrive on his motorbike to fix the problem. To have this happen twice in a day shows the use of faulty technology.
The wifi worked occasionally but then would not function for hours.
We had read of a free shuttle that would take us to the botanical gardens but the girls at reception denied it.
Finally the hot water tank in the bathroom is very small. Be careful if you are the first person to shower or the second person will have a old shower.
- Sylvie (8/5): staff helpfull and free shuttle useful - We didn't have internet in villa, only in the hotel's lobby.
Villa was very clean.
Breakfast at the restaurant was good and varieted.
- Elsie (2/5): Awful - Booked 2 nights, cut our losses & left after 1. It was so noisy!! Poor little dog in a cage no bigger than itself barking all night, people passing shouting and building work on another villa opposite started about 6.30am. Why they are placing guests opposite their building site is beyond me!!
Room was incredibly small, not enough room for cases, I had to climb over them to get into bed. Bathroom was a tiny wet room, nowhere to hang towels to dry & none provided for the 2nd night when we returned from our trip (toiletries were so housekeeping had been).
We were placed in a 2 bed villa with one of the rooms locked so we were unsure if other guests were going to share so had to cram everything in our room. No safe, had to keep valuables on our person as the locks on the windows were not working properly. Kitchen unusable as plugs mounted above the window so couldn't be reached.
Restaurant service was very slow. We were the only ones there & it took them a long time to bring our food, which tasted like it was out of a tin. Worse meal we had.
- Bertrand (6/5): to musc humid - The villas are beautiful but they have any ventilation and they are very humid plus moisture at the wall base. Our blanket was si humid then I had a very bad night,
- Elizabeth (10/5): Good service, nice location. - Nice place to stay, would be happy to recommend. It can be a little cold but that's bound to happen when your in the hills. The restaurant menu was a bit bland but there was a large selection for the buffet breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good experience! - The villa was clean and big but the internet was almost none existent. The crew were nice and accommodating. Good selection for the free buffet breakfast. Restaurant food was delicious and reasonably priced. Location was great but it was tiring uphill climb to go to one's villa (if there is no shuttle is available). Overall it was a good experience.
- Hung Wei Alex (8/5): Nice holiday houses. - It was an overnight trip and the apartment was within expectations. The hot water supply was quite a nuisance having to wait over half an hour after the last person showered to get more hot water.
The most absurd upgrade I have ever encountered.
"We are please to offer you an upgrade from your 2-bedroom to a 3-bedroom apartment. But we will lock up one of the bedroom and the balcony because you are not entitled to the view and you only paid for 2 bedrooms."
- Verified traveler (4/5): Smelly villa with bed bugs - We were upgraded to a villa instead of a standard room, which was nice. But the villas were old and smelly. The first one was not very clean and we found bed bugs and spiders in the bed. We changed for the villa next door. Still found some bed bugs, but we couldn't change a 3rd time. My girlfriend wanted to leave, but we decided to sleep on top of the bed with the bath towels. Overall, thos area is not really worth visiting anyway. We wouldn't return there, Singaraja or Lovina is probably a little more fun.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient to Tamblingan lake. - The bedsheet was not clean so we told them and they helped to change it straight away. It is the closest hotel to tamblingan lake but not the best.
- Nicky (6/5): Clean, great staff - Upon arrival we were given an upgrade to a 3 bed villa which was nice.
It's a shame it's a cold/damp climate as nothing feels dry in the villa including the bed. Housekeeping didn't come to turn down.
House behind the villas has many animals including cockerels which don't stop all day and a dog in a small cage that barks non stop. Not the hotels fault but it's a shame !
The staff are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Food was yummy and breakfast was ok. When the hotel is finished, I'm sure it will be lovely. The views down to the lake from the hill are beautiful, I recommend an early morning boat tour.
- Lai Hong (4/5): Reasonable Hotel not brillant - It was okay. But for the money they wanted the room is a bit small and conditions of the room are well below average.
The complex looks new but the houses they call dulux rooms are a bit tired. The sattee cushions come apart if you lean back. It is dirty and soiled. The beds smell mouldy so if you have respiratory problems it will alleviate your conditions. Essential power also shuts down when you remove the access card which means you can't charge your power units while you are out and about.
Also if you have mobility problems, there is a fairly step hill to climb to the top where the houses are.. and right to the very top is the restaurant(still under constructions) and full of flies (they were sun bathing on the glass table)
However, the plus side... pleasant receptionists and staff, good room service, free shuttle services to the town areas. There is good lake view at the restaurant between swapping the flies. And where available, there shuttle services to the restaurant and houses.
- Susilo (6/5): - they put us in a small 2 storey terrace house and they locked up the 2 rooms upstairs.
we used the downstairs room and have the common living room and kitchen to ourselves. but NO INTERNET as it was down that day. as a result, could not do my office work in the evening. Restaurant was in a building at the top of a steep slope in a building that was hald completed.
- Mada (10/5): Great villa with view of lake. - Although my wife and I only stayed for 1 night at one of the villas in the CLV Hotel on our way from Kuta to the north of Bali, we loved our stay there. The hotel is relatively new, and is both affordable and comfortable. The view from the villa porch onto Lake Bratan near Bedugul was stunning. The villa itself did not have air conditioning, but that was not needed as it gets quite chilly in the evenings, almost necessitating a sweater. The staff were easy to deal with, and the restaurant was great. The hotel is within walking distance to Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, a stunning temple on the lake. It is also within a short driver (10 km) to the Gitgit waterfalls. There is not much to do in the town otherwise, but just these alone are enough for a great short stay there. We would definitely recommend this to others and would stay there ourselves again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel higher up in mountains, less warm. - Staff very helpful, when my husband needed help to get to a doctor, because he felt sick.
They also gave us a new room, that was easier for us.help when you needed it.
- Monika (10/5): Great - Close to temple and lake
Staff very helpful and friendly
Breakfast fast and fresh
- Verified traveler (6/5): One night stay - We got upgraded for our one night stay into a three bedroom villa, but they closed two of the bedrooms. The bathroom is small but okay and could've been a bit cleaner. The bed was comfortable and the villa had lots of room. It didn't have air conditioning which was disappointing! Other than that everything was good for a one night stay.
- Millsy (10/5): New,comfortable and beautiful views - Upon arrival we were given a room upgrade. The unit was comfortable with great views of the lake and surroundings.
Staff were friendly.
Tasty filling breakfast.
If you have kids make sure you take them to the nearby animal house on the main road.
- Selvan (10/5): Best stay - We had a great time.so comfy so cold so beautiful
- Stephen (10/5): Recommend you stay here in the big appartments - We lived it but and the staff were great too
- Katarzyna (10/5): Nice place with super friendly staff. - Nice place with super friendly staff. We got a room in one of the villas, it was clean and tidy, so was the kitchen that was at our disposal. Food was OK. We really liked the reception though, they were very helpful and friendly. It's worth noting that we got a souvenir (coffe mug) when leaving. This hotel also provided us with free local transportation.
- sheena (8/5): over all is ok. good - good weather ... brezze !!
- Cork (6/5): Hotel very close to Pagoda. - The hotel is very new and nice. It is sort of a strange set up as most units are quite a walk from the main building. Ours was close so that was good. The owner is very nice and so is the staff. The only problem I had with it is that there is no circulation in the rooms, so it is very damp. The rooms really need some sort of circulation so that the dampness is not held in the room. It is in the mountains in a cooler and great area of Bali, near the Pagoda and the botanical gardens. It is cooler there which is a nice break from the daunting humidity. We went in Feb. the end of the month. You really only need one night there with time in one day to go to the pagoda and then the next for the botanical gardens or you could do them both in one day if ambitious.
- hansel (10/5): perfect view - I like this villa because it close to the lake and have amazing view
