• Tanyel (2/5): Horrible - Brooks crosswell was not polite rude as hell. No sense of humor and nobody came clean my room i cleaned it myself i even vacuumed smh horrible this then i asked for a discount for the matters and my wifi was messed up for the longest but the tall black guy came over and fixed the problem he was awesome. The experience was not good not friendly i couldn’t work with this supervisor he need to get another job then he wasn’t helpful with helping me fill the application out i was interested in helping with front desk 3-11p he just not fit for the position he ain’t a people person he too hard hearted Sorry that info in the other box and i didn’t like nothing about the stay ridiculous.

• Gartin (10/5): Wonderful Stay in OC - The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and the room had everything we needed. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and boardwalk. You cannot beat the location. Beds were very comfortable. We loved having breakfast at the restaurant located on the boardwalk. The only issue I have is paying for parking but I know all the hotels are doing it.

• Breawna (8/5): - The room was overall very spacious and clean. Kitchen was equipped with all items necessary for cooking. Staff was generally nice. We only had an issue with one gentleman when checking in that charged some guest $20 a day for parking but did not charge other guest. Ultimately we got a refund for that. If we would have to pay to park at the hotel we already paid 100’s of dollar for a room to stay at, I would not return. Otherwise no issues with the hotel or location. Very close to the boardwalk and other attractions.

Plus no elevator so the 3 flights of steps would be challenging for someone who couldn't do steps. I'm sure the better rooms were more comfortable.
• Jaime (10/5): Oceans Calling Festival Weekend - Room was clean when we arrived. Housekeeping very friendly. Perfect location. We came for the Oceans Calling festival and everything was easliy walkable.

The manager was rude and act like it was out fault. The girl the next morning at the desk was very nice. But I would never stay there dont wast Your money not worth the price or the bed bugs.

• Alexas (4/5): - When we first checked in they gave us keys to a room someone was already in. Then we found ants between our sheets. Dead and alive. They said they can either give us new sheets or move us to a room where we had to share a bathroom with strangers. New sheets didn't solve the ant problem but it's better than sharing a bathroom with God knows who! There's no breakfast but whatever no big deal. But the surprise $20 a day, yes per day to park at a hotel that your paying to stay at is a bit over the top.

And i hate to say it, as much money as i paid, they still charged me an extra 160 on property for parking, after i had already paid for it when booking. the first night we woke up to the ceiling leaking water and just progressively got worse. they were trying to make us figure it out as they had “not one room available.” this was out first time booking a room just us two, and it was a horrible experience. staff was rude and didn’t help at all.

Everything was wonderful we stayed in the hotel beach house 2BR, only issue was we had to have shoes on the entire time if not your feet or socks would be black from the floors, need to improve on the cleanliness of the floors. Otherwise everything else was great.
• April (8/5): - First time stay. Beach house is a secondary building, have to check in across street. Friendly staff. Room was very small. Old towels left in the bathroom & could have been cleaner. Convenient to boardwalk, beach & restaurants! Wish they had continental breakfast.

This was not included in the total bill on booking.com, so we paid a resort fee, taxes, the room cost, and then we were surprised with the fee for parking and a room damage hold at check in. So in total at check in they put a $125 hold on my card for any damages, and then another $120 for parking. The two bed room apartment had a small kitchen, which was nice, but had barely any equipment to actually cook with: no frying pan and no baking pan. The two bed room apartment did not have a dust pan or broom in the room.
• Carrie (10/5): - Had a weekend getaway with friends and it was perfect! We stayed in the apartments behind the beach house. Our room was very clean, and house keeping was great. Super convenient, it was across the street from the board walk. Definitely will be coming back here next year!!
• Samuel (6/5): - Unfortunately, our stay at Commander Beach Hotel wasn’t the best. When we checked in, we were given our keys and told to park across the street, but no one mentioned that parking wasn’t free. The front desk clerk was kind enough to help us figure it out, but it would’ve been nice to know ahead of time. The biggest issue came when we went to our room for the first time—there were already other people’s belongings inside. I saw a suitcase and immediately ran out, not knowing if someone might’ve been in the bathroom or shower. It was honestly mortifying, and it really made me question the safety of the place. Thankfully no one was in there at the time, but it could’ve been a very uncomfortable situation. On top of that, the whole building had a really strong mold smell, especially in our room. I had to keep the window open just to breathe comfortably. The back door to the building also didn’t latch properly, so basically anyone could’ve walked in at any time, which made me feel even less safe. In the morning, it felt like we were being rushed out since housekeeping was standing right outside our door waiting. Overall, our stay just wasn’t pleasant. Maybe it had to do with being in the building across the street instead of the main hotel, but between the security concerns, the smell, and the overall experience, I can’t say I’d recommend staying here unless some serious improvements are made. I would even recommend being compensated in some sort of way.

It is a little deceptive the way the map shows the hotel as being right on the beach, but the Beach House is across the street. Well lesson learned, we will never stay there again.
• John (8/5): Clean, good location, but pretty basic. - Stayed a couple nights over Labor Day weekend. Check-in was great. I called about an hour early (because we were there) to ask about check-in and was told the room was ready. It was a good place to lay our heads for two nights. Clean, good location (about right in the middle of the boardwalk), nice to have a fridge. But the room and bathroom is small and pretty basic. Overall, no complaints. But if you're looking for something more boujee, you should probably look elsewhere.

Housekeeping came and checked on us every other day to see if we needed anything. I booked the king efficiency which had its own kitchen and the room had its own pots pans/utensils. The beach was only a quick walk across the street which we enjoyed. Parking was no issue as the hotel wasn’t busy and I had a spot right in front of my room. The walls are a little thin but I brought my fan and it kept the volume tuned out. Definitely would consider staying here again and would recommend to a friend.

• Julia (2/5): - Terrible experience. My boyfriend and I were able to come to the beach a day early and the day of booked a room at the Commander beach house for just a night. We arrived at 11 pm after driving 3 1/2 hours after we got off work. Check in is at the Commander hotel on the boardwalk which is across the street from the beach house hotel. Check in went smoothly and we given our room keys. Upon arrival into our room we immediately noticed the room was not clean. There were multiple areas of hair on the sheets, a large stain by the pillows on the sheets, two small brown stains on the other side of the sheets near the pillows, and hair in the shower and bathtub. I immediately reached out to the front desk and they stated that we could be moved to another room at the beach house. The front desk worker came and got us and walked us to our new room. Walking into that room it was noticeably disheveled, had an extremely strong mildew/must odor, and had the same housekeeping problems as the first, hair all over the bed. We promptly stated that this is unacceptable and we want to be moved to the Commander Location on the boardwalk. After several minutes of waiting to hear back from higher up management, we were told it would be an additional $180, on top of what we already paid, to get moved to a room at that location. We were upset by this offer due to the fact that we already paid for a room and were brought to 2 dirty rooms. Cam, the front desk
• Waltina (6/5): - Rooms in smaller bldg were way too small! Rooms were clean but one had ants! No kitchenette only fridge and tiny micro! Close to everything, nice pool! No tram on the boardwalk! Watch the hotel charging more for things already in your cost of the hotel when previously booked! Female staff was nice! Gentleman at front desk wasn’t! Rooms were alittle high priced for how small it was! Paid less at another place down the road for 2 floors, pets, full kitchen for a weeks stay!!! Was charged for parking twice but it was refunded! Plus an extra fee for each room that was refunded but because I was charged but refunded those I ran short on money! Couldn’t do much because of it! My 5 grandkids were disappointed! If it weren’t for the pool and beach the trip would have been really bad!!! Not sure I would book at this motel again!
• Joshua (4/5): Sad - It was my husband and I 4th year wedding anniversary so this was the purpose of our trip. We were charged $42 for parking at the hotel on top of already paying for our room. We paid Over $40 for a pizza and wings only to have ants eat half of our pizza and then they decided the wanted to be in the bed with us.. Told the Hotel staff then they brought up a can of Raid and choked us out of the room. We were trying to get out of the room so they could spray but I guess they didn't want to wait a few minutes for that. The best part about this hotel was the porch with the rocking chairs. Check out was today at 11 but the cleaner was knocking on our door at 930 am . Won't stay here again. Ocean City a again disappointed this year. Next year we will go to a Delaware Beach.
• Kristen (10/5): Wonderful stay - The stay was wonderful. There was just confusion with the receptionist on the location of the room. It took us 30 minutes to locate the room. But we enjoyed our stay. I’d stay again 100% just hated there was no elevator to and had to carry everything up a bunch of stairs. But loved it felt like we were away from everyone.

• Michelle (10/5): - We visited three separate times this summer and love it every single time. The property is one of the cleanest that I’ve ever stayed at in OCMD. My kids and I were impressed with the rooms, the indoor pool, outdoor pool, complimentary coffee, towels, and beach chairs. The location is super convenient, especially with kids. There’s two breakfast shops and an ice cream shop located in the hotel, so that was super convenient as well. Parking was included the first two times, so it was a bummer that it was extra this past weekend. The beach house is a hidden gem. We will probably be back one more time before it gets cold.

Housekeeping was great about coming and checking to see if I needed anything refilled. I have stayed so many places in O.C. from 3 star to 5 star and this will be a favorite. The only negative was the floor looked like someone had scuffed it up with a tractor, but that didn’t affect anything about my stay…I just didn’t want anyone to think I did it. I don’t even own a tractor. I almost didn’t go on this trip bc of reviews but so glad I did. Would definitely stay again.

• Jennifer (6/5): Alarm would not stop chirping - The room was great and next to the beach. I would give this 5 stars if the fire alarm was not chirping for 2 of our days and nights. We could not sleep for 2 days.

• Deborah (6/5): Nasty and old. - Room and bathroom need a makeover. The bathroom looked like it was from 1970. The room stunk like mildew. Wouldn’t eat food in the room because it was so nasty. The refrigerator was disgusting, with brown stains. You really need to invest some money into the rooms at the beach house. I would not stay there again.
• Edith (8/5): Great location and price. - Clean sheets, towels, bathroom, although carpet is old and stained and room is dated. Shower had adequate water pressure. It was cold at night but the a/c / heater unit worked and only smelled funny for about 5 minutes the first time it came on. Access to amenities at the main building was easy and convenient. Front porch with rockers is cute and a nice amenity. Would stay again. No elevators, so folks with small kids or disabilities should note that.
• Patti (6/5): - Okay for one night- but very small- Entry way to bathroom very narrow . The picture was misleading - thought we had a porch but our unit was on the side - with no porch . Also , could use a “chair” in the room . But nice to see the room updated and lobby area. We have stayed there many years ago I also thought it was “free parking” when I booked but it was not . I will give it a try again but in a cabana - not where we stayed

• Kassia (6/5): - Location We have stayed at the commander hotel a couple times, so we booked the beach house for the kitchen. The kitchen amenities were okay, but the oven barely worked i was afraid to eat what took an hour to cook. The room is much smaller than the pictures make it look and it was kind of dirty. The floors were sticky and dandy. I understand it's tough around the beach, but I'd expect the rooms to be clean the first day at least. There is a dresser that is not attached to the wall, which made me nervous with kids around the room. The TV also only has a handful or working channels. I know the hotel had the basic cable, so the kids could watch Disney or nickelodeon, but the beach house did not.

• Stuart (8/5): Commander hotel - Check in was super easy. Staff were very nice and friendly. Room was very small, but clean. Was expecting the room to be bigger judging by the pictures. 2 full size beds and a small dresser. Would have been nice to have a chair or table. Bathroom was nice and large. About half the size of the room. All in all it was a good place to stay. We lucked out and had great weather for the entire stay, so we only used the room to sleep. The pool was great and was very clean, but we were disappointed that it was only open from 10am to 6pm. It's not like they had lifeguards there

Was moved down the hall in the same building even after voicing concerns because of our newborn being on vacation with us and was only compensated for the food that was lost and nothing else.
• Mekdes (2/5): Smelly, unsanitary, better to sleep in your car!!! - I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. From the moment I walked into the room, I was hit with a strong musty odor that never went away. The floor was dirty and clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned—walking barefoot wasn’t an option. To make matters worse, there were small bugs crawling around, which made it very hard to relax. The room itself was extremely cramped, with barely enough space to move around. The air conditioning system was outdated and struggled to cool the room, making the humidity and odor even worse. The bathroom had a lingering unpleasant smell that seemed to come from poor ventilation or plumbing issues. Basic amenities were also lacking. There was no coffee maker, no closet, and not even a single clothes hanger, which made unpacking and settling in inconvenient. For the price, I expected at least the bare minimum comfort and cleanliness, but this fell far short. I wouldn’t stay here again, and I can’t recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable or hygienic stay. Plenty of better options out there.
