Guest Reviews
- Ronald (6/5): - It’s an average stop in a great town. Better options abound for overall quality, I usually stay here because the rooms are generally cheaper.
- mark (10/5): - The manager was very pleasant and answered all our questions.
- Marc (6/5): - One of the least expensive places at the time. Typical older motel. Was ok. Bathroom way outdated and had rings in tub from maybe decades of lack of good cleaning. Some mechanical noise in wall all night... And thin walls. Bed was ok
- Leo (2/5): - didn't
- Gillian (10/5): - Great
- Norman (6/5): - Room was somewhat cute, I.e., retro, but was rather cramped. Sat wooden suitcase rack up and it fell apart. Shower worked great, but bathroom sink fixture was extremely loose. Coffee pot wasn’t plugged in, no great place to set it for operation. Parking was convenient as was check-in & check-out.
- John (6/5): Ok if you’re passing through - It’s not as nice as the pictures would leave you to believe. Rooms are very small. Don’t expect to use the bicycles they claim to have. There are two locked up out front but some guy we asked said they were not operational. One or two nights but anything longer spend the extra money and go across the street to the Comfort Inn.
- Phillip (4/5): - Look I don’t really want to bash this place as we didn’t expect a lot. we just happened to choose a weekend in Salida when there was a big festival in the area. You can tell the owners are trying to update the place but there’s still a lot of work to do. The grounds have junk piles next to the buildings, old TV’s, furniture, etc.. The hot tub is in the middle of the parking lot where the pictures make it appear to be a nice little spot. The TV in our room didn’t work, the AC/heating unit appears to be original from maybe the 40’s or 50’s, whenever the place was built. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable ones we’ve ever slept in. Again I feel horrible writing this because I know they’re a small business and trying hard to make it work. They just need more time to finish their remodeling and upgrades.
- Scott D (8/5): Bad Mattress in Good Room - Mattress seems played out (Really no support), particularly when paying +$100/night PLUS $20 pet fee. Room was clean and otherwise in good condition. I appreciate an extension cord with lots of plugs.
- Kenneth L (8/5): Nice Retro Motel - Nice place. Retro. Old fashioned in a good way, with '50s decor.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Old dated sketchy stay - Old school motel. Remodeling attempts are pretty sad. Early af checkout. Sketchy employees. Would not recommend. Plenty of better places in town.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Minimal is fine, but dirty is not ok! - My brother and I recently stayed one night after a camping trip in the mountains, and didn't need or expect anything 'fancy' from this motel. But, I expect the room to be clean. The floor was dirty, my bed spread had a burn hole in it, the bathroom had a dirty/stained shower liner and there were spots on the ceiling--not sure what they were. The refrigerator barely kept our leftovers cold (we had to set it to 5--the highest) and the door outside had damage, like someone tried to peel part of it off. I WILL NOT be staying there again.
- Chauncey (10/5): - Great place in a great spot
- Kayla (8/5): - The theme and decor of the motel is retro and very cute. Very affordable pricing, which is the main reason we picked this motel. The staff we dealt with was nice and friendly. The room wasn't huge but it worked for our needs. Had all necessary amenities in the room. The bed was ok, we always struggle finding a hotel/motel with a bed comfortable enough for us, but it wasn't terrible.
- Bernadine R. (8/5): - Those who helped us were informative and an uplifting manner.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Meh - Had to book last minute for 1 night during labor day weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful but the room did not meet expectations. Two lights and the air conditioner were not working, dead bugs on towels, and when we arrived there was 4 inches of standing water in the bath tub that would not drain. I've stayed in various other hotels when I've visited Salida and there are better options that allow pets for the same price.
- James (6/5): - If you like retro... This is a place for you. Definitely won't stay again.
- Inge (6/5): - We stayed for 3 nights recently. The room was clean, has a small fridge, microwave, and Keurig-type coffee maker. From a maintenance perspective, room 5 was in rough shape; see pictures. Needs to have some maintenance done. The AC was loud but worked well. Overall just okay.
- Nancy (10/5): - Outside patio with firepit abd nice view
- Danette (10/5): - Exactly what we needed for 1 night on our way through Salida. Nothing special just comfy and quiet.
- Douglas (8/5): - Very clean rooms and every thing I needed for a peaceful nights rest
- Erin (8/5): - Really charming motel, manager was very nice with cute puppy.
- David (6/5): - Very inexpensive and adequate for the price. Only complaint is the shower wasn’t as clean as I would have liked.
- Rob (6/5): - All the basic conveniences, but paint peeling in shower area, very noisy ac unit and poor visibility at night as sign not lit. Nice fluffy pillows and bulk supply of soap, conditioner and shampoo.
- Kenzye (8/5): - Cute motel for our two day stay for a rafting trip!
- Chris (6/5): - Property is run down. Doors were difficult to lock. The gap underneath the main door was 1/2”(big enough for mice). Sink was cracked. Nothing was horrible, but not worth giving more than three stars.
- david (2/5): - Rooms were trashy, need a lot of work. A/C was noisy. They don't really have your typical bed, just an easy haul-away mattress spring and a very uncomfortable bed. Shame on Expedia for saying this room was fairly good.
- Petra (8/5): - Fun little place to stay while in Salida with my son, staying for a week - easy in and out, safe, staff is responsive and kind. Great to have microwave and fridge for quick prep for leftovers. Easy access to downtown, the city pool, food and trails.
- Tim (10/5): - Such a totally cool restored motor court hotel! Great rooms all modernized but still looks like 1950, love it.
- Jeanna Nichole (10/5): - We have stayed here 2 yr in a row. The lack of ice machine is the only thing to complain about. It's always clean, walking distance to coffee shop, restaraunt, etc. Not but 2 mi from Safeway. We like staying here.
- John (8/5): - Very nice stay
- Dreher (10/5): - Great place to stay and was well priced and very clean.
- Sofia (10/5): - Very convenient
- Brian (10/5): - The staff is very helpful and friendly!
- Addison (10/5): - Great spot for thru hikers, good value and great staff!
- DaLin (4/5): - The day time staff was one of the rudest I have ever experienced. We had to ask to open the hot tub. She gave my husband a hard time a out it telling us opening up the hot tub encouraged late checkout. We were staying for two days! She then gave us a hard time again when she finally unlocked it telling us she wouldn't open it again. We switched hotels because if the sheer rudeness and lack of ability to use the one amenity they offered. I guess you get what you pay for 😞!
- Patricia (6/5): - This quaint little motel has small rooms with no place to put luggage, other than the floor. After seeing a spider on the bathroom floor right after arrival, I was reluctant to leave items on the floor. It was fairly clean. Bed was comfortable. Had to wait for check-in until nearly 4 pm. No one was onsite until 3:30.
- Mike (10/5): - Great spot
- Jim (8/5): Great budget property - A nice stay at a budget friendly property. Check in was fast and easy, and the clerk was friendly and efficient. The bed was super comfortable, and the room was clean and in good condition.
- Spencer (10/5): - Awesome
- Jacquelyn (2/5): - The sheets were dirty, and there were bugs. Our crew left and went to another hotel.
- Michael (8/5): - I have stayed here before, and it's a cool place, but it needs a good sprucing up. Not sure I would go back until they get this done -- there are other options in the area. No breakfast, the hot tub area needs to be cleaned up, and it needs some TLC.
- Jacob (10/5): - Nice little place
- Ava (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Our stay at Circle R Motel was wonderful. Check in was great, very quick and very nice staff. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms are clean. Free EV charging was a bonus!! I also appreciated that shampoo/conditioner/etc. were provided but in an environmentally-friendly way. Perfect place to rest to fuel our outdoor adventures.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Overpriced and disgusting - I was expecting a budget motel, but I was at least expecting it to not be incredibly filthy. Dog hair everywhere, dust and mold in the corners, ants crawling not the floor, fried electrical sockets that are a safety hazard. The beds were extremely uncomfortable - thin mattress on a box spring. My fridge didn't work and the guy at the front desk just said "sorry" (I had to throw out a bunch of perishable things I bought). I've stayed in plenty of budget places, so I don't have high expectations, but this was one of the worst. Only plus was that it was quiet and the A/C window unit was strong (but also incredibly noisy - bring earplugs). I think I paid $180 a night for this filth which is just a racket. I booked two nights but left after the first due to the condition.
- Leonardo (4/5): - Dirty bathroom and a used rake in the bathroom.
There is a lack of maintenance in the place.
- Scott (6/5): - Check in was easy. Room was clean. The AC situation was not good. AC was located in the bathroom window. Room stayed fairly warm all eveningand night. TV was small and overly difficult to work. For the price it was fine.
- spanda (8/5): - The flooring is allergen-free. Two beds means 8 pillows so I used them as a pillow topper. Slept great. Front window screen was intact so I opened for cool night air. Felt safe in this area. Wifi was great. Used the nook for a fitness Zoom meeting. The sound machine with birds lifted my mood. The bathtub held water so I enjoyed relaxing before bed. There were plenty of USB and wall outlets. The fridge worked. Mostly the quiet was appreciated. It was a short drive to Anytime Fitness in the morning, before hitting the road again. Thanks!
- Tamara (8/5): - Cute vintage motel!
- Scott D (8/5): Thick value Thin mattress - Love the multi colored sign. There’s no missing the motel from the road. Room was large and appointed with conveniences, including a key code entry.
Bedding was less than comfortable. Thin mattress and thinner pillows, but for one night, value is ok.
- Steven (8/5): - Clean and quiet. After 3-4 days still waiting on 100.00 refund
- Tiffany (8/5): It's ok - This is a very old motel. It isn't the prettiest, but it works. I couldn't get the tv to work in room 8, but I was too tired to care. The walls are a little thin. I could hear the guy next door coming in and out of his place. I also heard the heard vehicles driving up and down the road. I found out the next morning that a few guys were having a mini car show of their "fast and furious" crappy little cars with no mufflers. Thankfully it didn't last all night.
- Brad (6/5): - Worked out for what I needed temporarily.
- Jorge (10/5): - Jacuzzi was awesome
- jay (10/5): Great little place. - Hey this was a quirky little hotel in Salida Co. Bare bones and 65 dollars a night. So you get a 65 dollar hotel. Shower, King bed and a great TV. And a outdoor hot tub! Clean place and friendly people. 4 nights.
- MARK (10/5): - Friendly staff. Nice location. Very clean.
- David (6/5): - Ok
- David (6/5): - Ok
- David (8/5): - Ok
- Mardes (6/5): - Our room needs better lighting; it was difficult to read. Having the king bed in a small room meant there was no table with chairs, which we would have used and enjoyed.
- Justin (4/5): - The price was good, but I still expected to have hot water in the bathroom sink and shower. It was ice cold.
Also, the maid did not clean the toilet. There was urine all over the rim, as well as a large brown stain in the bowl.
Just fyi.
- Scott (4/5): - There literally was no soap to even wash your hands. The coffee maker did not make hot coffee. Tried to speak to a manager at 830am but no one was around. Didn't want to leave a review and wanted to talk with managers but no one was around. Pay a little more somewhere else. Do not recommend and will not be returning.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cute, but not great! - We called to check in over the phone since their office closed at 930p and we wouldn’t be there until midnight. The man who helped us was really nice, checked us in, gave me a room number and a code to enter the room. Then, at 930 pm I got a text saying they are checking us in, gave me a different room number and a different code. We didn’t know where to go and didn’t want to walk in on other people. Very confusing! The rooms were freezing! The space heater was nice, but not enough!
- Esther (10/5): - Clean, comfortable, cheap
- Eden (2/5): - When we first checked in there was someone smoking inches from our door. The smell lasted the rest of the night. Front desk staff said that nothing could be done because the marijuana shop is next door. The room was not great (towels dirty, shower had hair, floors had sticky gunk, could hear all the conversations with rooms next door etc). I guess you get what you paid for, but for us it wasn’t worth the money at all.
- Dawn M (10/5): - The updated rooms are really cute. It was clean, comfortable, and the staff were very nice.
- Peter (8/5): - A comfortable place to sleep for a reasonable amount of money. It was clean, had good towels and a fridge. On the downside, when I first opened the door to the room, the smell of bleach was almost overwhelming! I had to open the door all the way, along with the bathroom window to get a cross breeze and air the room out. Also, one hinge on the front door was coming loose as it had lost some screws; lastly, there was no toilet paper holder, so the roll had to just sit on the window sill to make it accessible.
- Celina (4/5): - The walls were paper thin. I could hear every word spoken by the neighbors on both sides. One of the neighbors was arguing with family all night and all morning.
The shower is in working condition however it's not installed well. It's very makeshift. I did not want to use it. The shower floor was warped very bad as well.
- Troy (6/5): Nice simple cheap - It was all that I required. Friendly staff
Close to restaurants
- barbara (10/5): - Was ok - staff was nice
- Martin (8/5): Cheap and cheerful! - Usually the cheapest place in Salida and it is good value for money. My main criticism is that the room we were given has a connecting door to the adjoining one which is great if you're next to friends or family, but not good if you're next to a noisy guest because you'll hear everything going on next door!
- Sai Srinivas (2/5): - Rooms are not as it shown in images, no proper AC didnt find AC itself, bathroom vent can be opened from outside i have to check every window and door twice. Room floor is dirty & Kind of smelly my friend cant even sleep because of that smell. May be a good property if AC is turned on before hand.
- Anthony (10/5): - The manager moved my room since my original room the remote was missing to load you tube funky retro hotel pull up to door easy load for skiiers pet friendly Keurig coffee machine hot jhot tub
- Jeff (6/5): - The bed was good and the shower was hot with some nice amenities like a microwave and mini fridge although they blocked the closet. BUT there was no heat in the room except for a space heater that blew the circuit. It is a very old property with poorly insulated doors and windows. No curtain for the bathroom window so very bright in the morning and that light filled the room even with the bathroom door closed. No one answered the phone until the next day. There is a reason it is the cheapest in town....
- Joel (2/5): - Well the fact that i got charged twice for one night
- Benjamin (10/5): - Semi updated property and excellent location on main strip. Comes with microwave & fridge. Could use a little updates but overall it was convenient.
- Nikki (10/5): - Circle R is always a friendly, comfy affordable place to stay in town that's close to everything.
- Matt (6/5): okay - it was just okay.
- Andrew (8/5): - Decent
- Mary (6/5): Ok - It was you would would expect for $60 I guess. Door was difficult to deadbolt - very old. Oil heater so had to get up to adjust through the night.
- Lyrel (8/5): - Not sure how "thin" the walls are. Heard a woman laugh next door. Used the hottub at my convenience but the next night it was locked. Comfy bed, heater makes popping noise.
- Terri (10/5): - I frequently stay here when I m in the area.
- Ronald (10/5): - I really liked the shampoo , conditioner , body wash dispenser s in the shower and bathroom sink area and the friendly staff and the affordable prices, thank ya so much for a good experience
- George (4/5): - The rooms heat didn’t work. It was 57 degrees when we finally just got up and left. The bathroom could use updating as we didn’t even use shower.
- Jeremy (10/5): - I really enjoy staying here. It’s very quiet and peaceful, convenient parking, and close to town.
- William (6/5): - The shower pan was to steep and we had to be extra careful not to fall down.
- John (8/5): - Staff was very helpful and responsive to my own faux pas of reserving the wrong day on Expedia. I was able to get a refund on a non-refundable purchase.
- Conrad (8/5): - Good place to stay at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.
- James (10/5): Cute gem - Super cute little pet friendly motel. If you're planning to skii Monarch, see Salida, or just need a night to rest without paying over the top prices, this is your place.
- Boyette (4/5): - It is a cute and quaint old place. It has enough updates to function well. Turquoise mini fridge. Micro wave. Kurig coffee maker. The problem is the lack of an eye for detail in the cleaning crew. Some with such an eye needs to check the rooms for issues before renting it out. Sink and Toilet were not clean...hardened tooth paste and other spots that took some elbow grease to remove. Black/brown spots in toilet bowl and no toilet paper one the roller or off. The remote for the heater was no where to be found...and it gets cold at night now in the mountains. A room checker with a check list is a must for this place. The price was right...but it still should have been cleaned and stocked correctly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was fine.
Not dirty but not really clean.
- Dale (8/5): - you dont want me too.
- Timothy (10/5): - The classic car decor was cool and staff person very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and comfortable. - Quiet, clean, not great area for walking dog: walked in neighborhoods behind hotel, couldn't get TV to work and not sure why: have had that issue in Salida at other hotels. Cute retro hotel. No breakfast served.
- daniel (4/5): - this motel is old and not well maintained. my shower cold water knob was stripped. i complained to mgmt and he said he forgot to repair shower and told me to tilt knob and water would flow. they were out of tp, i had to go office and get a roll.
hot was great. the bed was comfortable
- David (6/5): - This place is the definition of a “no frills” motel. It’s a bed and a roof over your head. Staff was friendly. Hot tub was nasty. Price was right unlike Browns Canyon Inn across the street who jacks their prices by the minute later in the day. You make the call.
- Janet (8/5): - The retro decor did not make up for the crud present in our room.
- Francis (8/5): - Parfait pour une nuit
- Bernard (6/5): - Comfortable bed, but dirty floor
- Philippe (8/5): - Decent price. Bathroom hadnt been cleaned, but we did reservations online same day, hours before arrival. 3.5 stars. Front desk person was absent. But a lady checked us in anyway. She was polite, kind, and thoughtful. Grateful for a place to stay at a decent price.
