Mentioned to staff the next morning general manger never called me as they said he would. My room was also not the cleanest. I say stay away from this hotel.

At least room is nice size. Think I was able to get thermostat working. But disappointing no one caught this before guest checked in.

- worldofeszter (2/5): You don’t have to work in hospitality if you hate people - I spent four hours (from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM) simply trying to obtain a credit card authorization form in order to prepay for a room (arrival the same day). At 2:00 AM, I called and spoke with the night shift front desk agent. She was unable to locate my reservation using the confirmation number—even after I repeated it three times. When I suggested she search by my name, she still claimed she could not find it. I asked her to explain the issue, as I was calling internationally from the airport and expected this to be a quick two-minute conversation. Instead, she told me she couldn’t understand my accent and would therefore have to look through 100 reservations manually. I immediately offered to spell out my name clearly again, but she refused and said she would not help me. She then hung up, instructing me to call back in the morning to speak with a manager. When I tried calling again several times, she eventually answered—making it clear she was reluctant to assist. Only then was she suddenly able to understand me, and for the first time, she even spelled my email address correctly. She promised to send the form, so I sat at the airport for three hours refreshing my inbox every ten minutes. The email never arrived. By 6:15 AM, I called once more. She told me she “probably just needed to hit send again.” I asked her to stay on the line while she did so, but instead, she placed me on hold for 20 minutes and then stopped picking up the phone for the next half hour. Finally, as my plane was boarding, she answered one last time only to tell me, “I am not your assistant.” After crossing the world, I landed and called the hotel to confirm that my payment had finally gone through. That is when the manager informed me that the night shift agent had cancelled my reservation entirely—with no email notification, no alert, nothing. Imagine if I had simply shown up in person. In fact, the manager’s first response was that they were sold out and would try to “walk me” to another property. I could not believe my ears. I explained that I had been trying to prepay for twelve hours straight and had just crossed an ocean. Only then, as if by magic, he was suddenly able to reinstate my booking. I have worked in hotels for more than 10 years, and I cannot recall when our industry shifted from being of service to treating guests as an inconvenience. My request could not have been simpler: “I want to give you money. Please send me the authorization form so you can receive that money.” Because of this experience, I will not return, and I certainly will not consider this property for our upcoming conference where we had planned to rent out the entire hotel. It is astonishing how one person’s lack of professionalism—and in this case, negligence—can damage the reputation of an entire establishment. Short version: Avoid at all costs.

A positive note, upon check-in, the staff is very accommodating; the woman at the front desk was friendly. However, upon entering my room, it initially appeared clean. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection of the bathroom, I noticed hair on the wall, presumably left by the previous guest, as well as hair on one of the bed sheets. If your trying stay in the Downtown Albany area, the Marriott was placed in the heart of the location, but that last stay was equal to the Ramada Hotel in Albany, with the main difference of the Marriott had more modern appliances/ furniture.

- mmH3871PD (10/5): You will not be disappointed. - I stayed for business and selected the larger, "City View" room. I was not disappointed and it was well worth the very reasonable price. The room, as well as the bathroom, was far larger than expected, and it was better/more updated than the photographs on the website. Great water pressure. Solid Wi-Fi. There is even a roll-out desk and plenty of outlets... perfect for the business traveler. The location is near some very nice restaurants too.

The guy next to him was laughing, I felt like I came back to elementary school with bullying. I ask general manager Catlin Ptak to pay attention to the fact that your staff is extremely unkind and it's unacceptable!!!! I travel a lot and stay in different hotels all over the world and such reception behavior i met first time!!!! Never come back here again

Got in the room there was no shower curtain in the bathroom just a rusty holder I couldn't take a shower, went down to front desk to advise the frint desk lady pointed to some long boxes behind the desk and said, " The new shower curtains are down here". Stated she would get back to me had to take a shower in another room. Will never stay there again. Marriott they make you look terrible!

- richardbartonbrown (8/5): Nice downtown hotel at reasonable price - Nice downtown hotel in Albany, 4 blocks from the state capitol and museums (it's a steep uphill walk...the capitol is on a hill). Room was large with nice desk, lots of plugs, microwave/fridge/coffee maker, and a firm bed. The bathroom was huge and shower worked well. The staff was friendly and helpful, including saving my food when I forgot to empty the fridge. Closest parking is 2 blocks away for about $30 per day -- the walk to/from the garage can be a bit creepy at night. There is street parking if you want to deal with the meters. Lots of eateries and some shopping in the neighborhood. No problems.

- kakiphony (2/5): Beware: Hotel is under construction (April 2025) - As of April 5, 2025 this hotel is under renovation. We arrived to find the lobby carpet torn up, and the old carpet rolled and stacked in the window area. Elevators are covered in styrofoam to protect the walls. The lobby smelled of fryer grease, dust, and chemical odors (probably from pulling up the carpet). Staff was adequate but not friendly. The fourth floor smelled like strong lysol. Our room appeared to have new carpet and paint, but smelled so strongly of chemicals that my throat burned and I coughed for a half an hour. Windows could not be opened to dissipate the smell. We left and found a room at another hotel rather than stay here due to my chemical sensitivity. The renovations are probably needed and will surely be nice when done, but are creating a less than stellar customer experience at the moment. Beware when booking.

- Small (9/5): Good value and close to everything important in Albany. - The room was good sized, and it included a microwave as well as a small refrigerator. The hotel is a relatively short walk to the Capitol building and the Legislative Office Building. Around the corner from the hotel is a deli, a liquor store, and several restaurants. Up the block are more restaurants, while around the corner is the Albany arena. A walk under the highway overpass takes you to more restaurants, including a soul food restaurant that opened a couple of years ago. The hotel was fine. One issue is the availability of parking. My friend drove down from Utica and had to park on the street. She was expecting an indoor parking lot. Internet access and speed is always an issue with hotels. This one was no different. Slow and sometimes intermittent Internet service was an issue.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Under construction paint, ladders, and various projects started in the lobby and bathrooms out of service.
- Melissa (4/5): This place was a crap show. - The bed was not very comfortable. The hotel is renovating and the lobby was dirty and there was no drinks and very little snack choices available. I was misunformed about breakfast time and almost everything was cleaned up by my arrival at 905 am. Another couple who said they got there at 850am and most everything was gone. Only waffles and juice were left. When i asked front desk staff about it they were rude and disrespectful to me. I will not be staying here again. My last stay was iffy but this one was horrible. You have to walk 2 blocks or more to park your car and pay to park in a public garage. The hotel has no parking available. I had reservations for 2 rooms and she only checked me into 1 until i asked despite me saying there were 2 when i arrived booked at the same time and she daid she saw that. Happened the first time i was there too.

- Jose (5/5): Hotel attendant at front desk was very polite, friendly which made up for the remodeling - The lobby and elevators were being remodeled, website did not indicate that hotel was being remodeled. The room was nice and spacious, clean. Lack of restaurants nearby
- Aida (2/5): - The hotel was under construction and we were not made aware, our room had the smallest window and I am claustrophobic. They switched my room and still put me in the same kind of room. Very disappointed, will never go to this hotel again.

- Theodore (8/5): - Good property for a downtown area that isn't very well traveled on weeknights. Good staff with fast check in and spacious room. Good for what it is meant to be - no nonsense no frills downtown property.

- Heather (10/5): - Room was nice. They were doing remodeling. Only down side is they don’t have a parking lot you have to park 2 blocks away in a parking garage
- Amy (8/5): - Wish there was some seating in the room. All we had was a chair at the desk. No couch, arm chair, etc. The shower head was awful, there was more water that dripped down the back of the shower instead of spraying out through the head. Pillows and bed were comfy. Wish the lobby had an area to sit and hang out. The back breakfast area had the lights off and seemed off limits at non breakfast times.
- Juarezeuge (7/5): Good - The breakfast is ok, the room was clean The hotel is under renovation, and they didn’t inform us. The central heating wasn’t working, and there was a very noisy heating unit in the middle of the room. I paid over $200 per night, and they gave me ONE bottle of water for 4 days; everything else you have to pay for. It’s a good hotel, but extremely overpriced.
