Guest Reviews
- Miriam (10/5): Lovely accommodations in Cambria. - Comfortable and quiet stay. Excellent host, Nala.
- John (10/5): Too short - Very great location and extremely nice room and decor. N/A
- Maria luisa (10/5): Idyllic! - We liked the resident kitty, Nana; the location, ambiance, comfortable sitting room with coffee, tea, cider, etc. Check in was easy; our room, Galway, was uniquely decorated with lovely antiques; a lovely gas fireplace, king size bed and a huge tv screen with access to Netflix.
Thanks for the wonderful stay.
Maria Luisa Fuller Absolutely nothing
- Deborah (6/5): Disappointed - Location good. Bathroom clean. Bed comfortable. Inn is weathered and somewhat out dated. We stayed at the JPH when it was still a BnB. We were unaware it had changed. We were disappointed that there was no human contact. All remote. Also disappointed there was not even a continental breakfast. A package od instant oatmeal does not constitute even a continental breakfast.
- Postle (10/5): Hidden Gem - Cozy and Quiet
- Greg (8/5): Wonderful property but no staff on site , so it’s kinda hit or miss with the quality of guests staying - Good location , clean , wonderful property. Bed was older & springy. Couldn’t get a decent night sleep . Other rooms slamming doors after hours & during quiet hours . Property said no children but there was an older kid about 10 or 11 slamming doors & being loud . Definitely diminished the quality of the stay
- Maria (10/5): Totally enjoyable; would have loved to stay longer. - The outside is beautiful & inviting; the inside of our unit, Galway was uniquely decorated, roomy interior, comfortable Kingsize bed, cozy fireplace. It was all perfect. Nothing; it was perfect
- Gabriele (8/5): Gut für einen kurzen Aufenthalt - Sehr hellhörig
- Atessa (10/5): Perfect - Very well decorated felt better than home. Lovely cat.
- van waveren (7/5): - We didn’t get breakfast. This was marketed as a bed and breakfast. I also texted and was told we would get breakfast that same morning. Disappointing.
- Sonya (10/5): -
- Liisa (10/5): -
- Simon (10/5): -
- Patrysha (10/5): Property served it’s purpose and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was to stay. - Property was conveniently located and easy check in process Our bedroom had exterior access to the bathroom, walls seemed thin. Next time I would request both rooms of front house so our entire party would be together rather than half of our party in the front house and half in the back house, but it worked out and we had a lovely time.
- Jesse (10/5): - We love the room and how quick they are to answer our questions or accommodate us like when my husband was hot and they brought us a fan to our room. We really appreciate it. Its our second time staying here and have so many beautiful memories here so we will keep coming back. Thank you. N/A
- Nikita (9/5): Cozy place to spend a few nights off season - Super cozy looking house, quiet location, tasty cookies. Great choice of coffee and tea in the kitchen, drinking water available. Quite far from the village center, you can't really walk there. The room had bad ventilation and no aircon. We slept with an open window and it was okay. But the weather was not too hot. I would not stay there in summer.
- Marlyn (10/5): - The delivered breakfast was delicious, healthy and a decent size for the $10 price. I don’t eat a large breakfast so I got two meals out of one. You do have to request it a day in advance. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a selection of teas and coffees. The cookies at the entrance were delicious. The parking lot has lots of room.
- Frances (10/5): - This place was charming and comfortable. Lots of extra touches, like a cold carafe of water in the fridge, plenty of coffee and creamer in the room, an option to have a small breakfast delivered to your room, all things that made my solo stay even more enjoyable. Loved the fireplace in the room!
- MARK (2/5): - Not sure about pets, parking was fine
- John (10/5): - I don’t remember seeing a breakfast memu , we just had coffee and went out and supported local restaurants, next time will try eating in
Thank you
John
- David (10/5): - Quiet, traditional New England homey
- Mark (10/5): - unique rooms, great coffee bar in room, wine opener and wine glasses included. Cleaning staff very helpful. Beautiful tranquil area, with an amazing nursery across the street.
- Patricia M (10/5): Great place to stay in Cambria! - Very quiet, comfortable inn. Very clean and nicely furnished room.
- Cecilia (10/5): - Amazing place and room
- Steve (4/5): - I don't think I'm the kind of person who should be stayin in an "Inn." The whole thing is lost on me.
Check in was a pain in the neck. There is no human there just a text message which of course wasn't working because there is virtually no cell service in this area. Arrived after driving 4 hours and couldn't get in. I was told "if you don't get an automated message soon let me k is and I could help you out." I asked "can't you just help me out now?" No reply.
Eventually got in. Old building and I didn't know I was going to be sharing our hallway with someone else and listening to them have explosive diarrhea in the hall bathroom throughout the night.
Remote to the tv was out of batteries. Found another remote in the building and swapped them out. The tv was a waste anyway as there weren't many channels and I didn't feel like watching judge Judy reruns.
Power kept going out in the building. The back half of the house was out the entire time we were there. I moved the coffee maker to the floor in another room to find an outlet and then sat on the floor to make coffee.
Went to dinner and when we came back all 3 of the parking spaces for the building were gone so there was nowhere to park.
Again, some may find this all charming, it's just not for me. I'm more the concierge level at the Hilton.
- Robert (8/5): - Fantastic place
- Paul (10/5): - We came her 28 years ago and returned for the first time since then. Still has that quaint and restful ambiance.
- Rhanell (10/5): It was an Awesome experience - Quaint quite and quality Nothing it was perfect
- Matt (9/5): 29th Anniversary Nostalgia - I wish I had known breakfast was only included if we booked through their site and not 3rd party
- peymon (8/5): - we like the charachter of the building.
- Ksren (10/5): - Fireplace, gardens, cookies, coffee, bathtub,
- Carmen (10/5): 40th - Just no light in the shower…
- Christopher (8/5): Enjoyed our night here - Everything we needed was there. Good facilities.
Overall very enjoyable. Bed, although very comfortable was a bit high!
Some confusion about whether breakfast was included - welcome email said breakfast would be delivered to room, but apparently we didn’t order it!! Some noise from neighbouring room. It would also have been good to know that adjacent restaurant (not opposite, as stated, but a bit down the road, and down a long drive) closed at 8:30z. Also (seemingly in common with many places) no provision for tea drinkers ( tea bags / milk).
Nada.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Absolutely lovely. Completely charming and sweet. We especially loved Nana, the greeter cat. Can’t wait to return.
- gianluca (9/5): - Tutto top Niente
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute cottage style accommodations near sea/forest - Cute cottage style rooms, clean, comfortable, quiet and cozy! Close to village shops & restaurants, near ocean, and set in a beautiful pine forest!
Friendly helpful staff and easy self check in and out.
- Jessica (10/5): - Our room was adorable. Comfortable and clean. Loved the cat who greets you at the door, and lovely tea/coffee station in the lobby. Bed was very comfortable.
- Tim (10/5): Great location, great facility and great communication with staff. - My wife and I liked the location, close to town and main highway. We liked the set-up of the rooms, along with the coffee/tea/goodies room downstairs. Parking was easy too. Communication with the staff was easy and they were polite and professional. Now this is just me, the bed was a bit firm for my taste but it was fine. I'm being nitpicky here so don't take it as a negative.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The inn was quaint, quiet, and beautifully decorated. We appreciated how easy it was to check in and get our room. Our room, Dublin, was cozy, clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. We appreciated the hospitality-delicious cookies, coffee, and other free goodies in the lobby.
Cons: The WiFi signal was nil. We tried to connect to it several times but weren’t able to while in the room. Also, the room does not have air conditioning even though it was hot and uncomfortable.
- mark (10/5): Great place to stay - This unit and all grounds are very clean. Staff is friendly and professional. Very helpful. I will definitely come back to stay here again. Also the restaurant is excellent.
- leticia (10/5): - It was very nice and lovely over all great
- Christy (10/5): - The property was warm, comfortable, and inviting! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful! They tended to every detail which made our stay even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful time!
- Markita (10/5): - I love this property. This is my second time staying here and it’s so charming and lovely. The staff are amazing, definitely the highlight of the stay. They showed me great kindness and for that I’m grateful. I can’t wait to return in the future. Keep up the great work you guys.
- Tom (10/5): - Really quaint Inn. Bedrooms were clean, quiet, well appointed as was the dining area and living spaces in the main house. We had the Cork room with adjoining private bathroom that I thought would be a deal breaker for my wife but she really enjoyed it . Plus the unofficial greeter cat Nana was super friendly. Coffee available at all times. Delicious breakfast delivered to our room, spinach quiche, sausage links, blueberry muffin, yogurt with fruit and OJ. We’ll be back for sure
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cambria July - Cute property, close to town. It is an old property, lots of squeaky floors and lots of noise from patrons coming and going. The mattress in our room was not comfortable and probably needs replacing. The first floor while convenient is also the loudest as you hear every person coming and going. It is a contactless operation. So no personalized service that would normally come with a B & B. Nice selection of tea and coffees in the entry way.
- Veronica (10/5): - Cambria is already peaceful, but the Inn makes it for us. Made our whole trip relaxing.
- Harry (8/5): -
- shannon (10/5): - We loved our stay at JPH. The room was very clean, large, perfectly decorated. The whole place was so cute. The welcome cookie was delicious. We opted for the breakfast in bed and it was excellent, don’t skip it! If you book your stay through a third party, it’s an extra $10 each for breakfast, worth it!! Easily walking distance to the beautiful nursery and Cambria Pines Lodge. We walked down to town for lunch and shopping, it was a little over a 1/2 mile. Walking back up was a bit rough but totally doable. The only snag was our code didn’t work when we got there to check in, I contacted the number on the door to let them know about my code and they texted pretty quick to give us an alternate code that worked. I will stay here again.
- Diane (10/5): - J Patrick Inn was very quaint. Contactless check in and check out. Very easy. In a quiet neighborhood with the main town within a short drive. All amenities provided and the rooms were clean.
- Ed (8/5): - Didn't know the bathroom was not in the same room.
- Dave (10/5): - Great little 2-night getaway. Charming room - clean with great shower. Slick contactless check-in and meal discount offer. Better that expected!
- Todd (8/5): - There is no one greet you at the property and everything is done through text message. Seems like a lot of information had to be given. The pictures of the property are misleading, showing a pool, which there is none. You do have an option of driving down the road to another property which has a pool. Which would’ve been very inconvenient and then have to get in the car wet. We text a few times to get a lighter for the fireplace, soap for the bathroom which they brought in a timely manner. They do have coffee, puzzles, and games to use on your stay. Greeted by a neighborhood cat. A very peaceful area. Overall, we had a very nice stay.
- Fanny (10/5): - J Patrick Inn was AMAZING!!! :) My new favorite place.
- Ann Marita (8/5): - It's a beautiful place! Great spot for couples. (I was there by myself, but would love to come back NOT by myself.) One thing though: My room was so cold! I turned the wall heater on, but it didn't do as much as I'd hoped. Ended up going to bed wearing a sweatshirt, pants, and heavy socks. Apart from that, I truly enjoyed my stay.
- Pam (10/5): Great stay - Beautiful Inn with lots of little touches and a great breakfast. Cambria is wonderful!
- Monie (10/5): Wonderful - JPH was a wonderful stay. No staff in place but they were easy to reach out via text. The room was gorgeous with a warm fireplace, and easy access to the lobby. It’s tucked away in the hill but still close to Main St. Cambria. Bonus: loved the friendly kitty Nana.
- Jane (10/5): Gorgeous property in a lovely rural town - Beautifully appointed, spacious, clean and comfortable, we loved our stay here. We didn't expect it to be contactless check in and no-one on site for hosting, however there were very clear instructions and we had no issues so didn't need to speak to anyone. The bathroom was beautifully done and the bed very comfortable. The fan felt historic and cooled the room nicely for a good sleep during our Spring visit. Very tasty and generous breakfast left outside our door in a hamper. Very helpful to have a fridge, and great coffee.
A couple of small issues; our table was extremely sticky on the extender flaps (which we needed to eat breakfast) so we had to clean it. The TV didn't work as advised - no access to Netflix/Hulu etc however this would have been a bonus if it had worked. These were minor issues that didn't impact our overall enjoyment. We loved it here and wanted to stay longer.
- Inajanos65 (10/5): Very Quaint Inn - Beautiful inn, we only stayed for one night in ‘Tipperary’. Very pretty room, clean, with fridge and coffee making facilities. White noise system was provided which was needed as this is a ground floor room & we could hear everything from upstairs, our neighbours weren’t very considerate of people in rooms below them unfortunately. We ate at the sister hotel, the food was delicious. Would definitely stay here again but would request an upstairs room.
- bellster (10/5): Would go back! - Such a cute place! Not an easy walk to the town (which is tiny) but we enjoyed a short stroll to the sister hotel for dinner and to use their hot tub. Breakfast basket delivered to the room is included, at least if you book direct. It was heartier than we expected - quiche, sausage, fruit filled yogurt parfait. Shower was lovely with great water pressure.
- Kathleen (8/5): - Loved the chocolate chip cookies and quiet and green wooded area with connections to Cambria Pines Resort's restaurant, pool and spa! Cutely decorated although our toilet had difficulties flushing, we couldn't find the lighter for the fireplace and the 2 chairs' cushionings were so worn we dropped into the center dip and sat too low for the little table. They definitely need to be reupholstered for comfort. Overall, loved the experience and will return! :)
- Carol (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay!!
- Charles (10/5): Diamond in the rough! - The bed & breakfast is set in a lovely area. It's close to everything, the town, restaurants, The checkin was simple, everything is done through your phone. The rooms are clean, breakfast can be delivered to your room if you have it set up. The Inn response quickly to your questions and needs. Enjoyed everything about our stay at this Inn.
- ALISON (10/5): - A very pretty property, very clean. Bed a bit uncomfortable & could hear everything in room above us. A pleasant stay for one night, beautiful clean room, would recommend.
- karenkks (10/5): Wonderful Inn and area - We had a nice upper floor room called “Limerick “ and it was perfect for our needs and wants. The room had a comfortable bed, plenty of tables and seating, a fireplace, a mini fridge, a giant television and a large bathroom. It was well decorated and offered room treats like coffee and tea. Entering the inn there were fresh cookies, tea, coffee, cocoa, cider, and other treats to take as you wanted. We opted for breakfast at the Lodge and were very pleased with it. The walk on a beautiful trail from the inn to the lodge was beautiful. There were many guests but we saw few. We drove into town for dinner and loved walking around. We also spent four hours walking the coastal trail. It’s a wonderful inn in a beautiful area.
- pritis628 (10/5): Beautiful, clean and quiet bed and breakfast. - This is a beautiful bed and breakfast nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Cambria. We enjoyed our relaxing get away. The host was warm and welcoming. Check in and check out was a breeze. I would love to visit again. Great location to Santa Margarita if you're looking for adventures, Morro Bay for a lovely bay side dinner and some quaint small towns on the way. Great wine tasting!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Message access on the day directed us to the wrong building; it took an hour to sort out getting into our room.
Room was too small for the quantity of furniture, making the experience disappointing.
- Tracy (8/5): - Tucked away near downtown it had a unique decor. Bedrooms great. Downstairs lighting a bit dim and keurig-style coffee not wonderful. Breakfast basket of quiche, yogurt parfait, sausage, o.j. And muffin very thoughtful.
- dianeh51 (10/5): A Very Pleasant Visit - What a lovely Inn. We stayed in "Kerry." The room was cozy and filled with natural light - with lots of windows. The room was not large, but remarkable in that it was so well- designed. Magnifying mirror/ hand held showerbath combo/window in bathroom/ hair dryer and bath accessories. Plugs for our phones etc. Breakfast, which consisted of OJ, homemade quiche, muffin, sausage, yogurt with fruit and salsa - tasty. Communication is via text - which was quite effective. A very pleasant visit!
- Rudy (10/5): Cozy Comfort - It’s one of our favorite places to stay!
- Svetlana (10/5): - The accommodations were very welcoming, charming and private. We appreciated being able to park extremely close to the building our room was in. We enjoyed the feeling of entering into a well appointed home.
- Sudhir (8/5): - In a nice, quiet location;
- U8535LXsandrap (10/5): Amazing -
"My stay at J Patrick was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, it felt so cozy and just like home. The property’s surroundings were breathtaking, adding to the charm of the experience. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, and the fireplace was the perfect finishing touch. I can’t recommend this place enough—thank you for such a wonderful stay!"
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christy (10/5): - We loved our stay! The rooms were cozy and all have fireplaces. The bathroom was well stocked. The coffee was great in the room and breakfast was delicious and brought right to our door. The outside gardens were beautiful and loved sitting out there with a glass of wine.
- Jimmy (9/5): Superb -
- The (10/5): Best anniversary getaway - Loved how access was easy and everything was done via text message.
The whole place was beautiful and very welcoming.
Room and fire place was very romantic.
Best of all, breakfast was delivered to our door and was very delightful I didn't like the bed to firm for me, but my husband loved it .
- rdelrio3 (10/5): Excellent - Everything was just great. Ease of checking in, room was very clean, service was it excellent, walls a little thin and can hear other guests, but overall excellent stay.
- rileybruce2323 (10/5): Cozy Getaway! - My girlfriend and I needed a weekend away and this was an awesome place to stay. We were greeted by a beautiful cat named Nana who roams around. The gas fireplace was amazing to have. Everything is setup nicely for the guests. It was very peaceful there. Highly recommend for anyone visitting Cambria.
- Robert (6/5): - Unfortunately, the J Patrick Inn is not what it used to be. I don’t know if it is an a corporation that purchased it from Linda, but there are no staff there and it’s now become an Airbnb. What used to be a wonderful breakfast in the morning in the main house is now a basket that has a cold quiche, some salami, a carton of orange juice that you couldn’t open up, and a cup of coffee! So sad to see what has happened to a beautiful place.
- I5457PVjamesc (2/5): Not the B&B it Used to Be! - Can a Bed & Breakfast be run remotely? Not unless your goal is to go bankrupt! The J Patrick House used to be a warm, friendly place where a traveler could stop, get a fresh-baked cookie upon checking in and then stop by at 5pm for a glass of local wine, some warm refreshments and to meet your fellow travelers. Now, all you can expect is a text from the owner saying, "Our staff communicates with guests via text or email only." They prepared a breakfast for us that was cold (quiche, sausage, and a muffin) that we could eat in our warm room or come down to where they used to prepare us a fresh, delicious breakfast (the dining room) which was not heated (it was 39 degrees that morning), but at least we could microwave our breakfast and prepare our own hot coffee. A complete and total disappointment! We checked out after one day and went to another, much better place. Don't waste your time or money at the J Patrick house. They just don't care about their guests!
- chris (8/5): J Patrick for New Years Eve - The room was adequate but no view worth speakning of. The breakfast was the samething every morning and cold. The bed was very comfortable. The room coffee was blah. It was across the street from the light show. We had tickets so walking there was very convienent. Everything was automated, no real human contact. I guess that coud be a pro or con :-)
- emilymerrick82 (10/5): Second time staying here - This was our second time staying here and it was just as lovely as the first. Very homey, cozy feeling and being right across the street from the Christmas market was very convenient. Also, shout out to Nana the sweetest J Patrick House mascot 🐱 ❤️
- Compass21356021764 (10/5): Perfect for the Christmas faire - My first bed and breakfast stay. Beautiful room with so much attention to detail in the decor and amenities. Perfect location for the Cambria Christmas faire and light show- just walked right across the street to all events. Excellent communication and easy check in. Wonderful places to just sit inside or out. Thank you for an unforgettably stay. Loved the neighborhood cat!
- CrazyGeno (10/5): This place is AMAZING!! - Once my wife and I arrived...we used the keyless entry to enter the building and then our room! We were both blown away by how it felt like home when opened the door to our room! Rustic charm and very comfortable bed. The fireplace was to die for...so easy to light and kept us warm on the cool rainy nights! The access to the town was a few minutes away and dining was also a hit! Shopping was also close by with some quaint boutiques that my wife liked.
- Paul (10/5): - Was really glad to choose this place to stay. Would recommend and was supremely confortable and accomodating. Very cozy!
- Scott (10/5): - Excellent. Very cozy and great breakfast!
- Alyson (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (10/5): - Great b and b
- Lnm8953 (10/5): Amazing Inn! - My wife and I stayed here for a romantic getaway weekend! This place was so accommodating and very friendly, the room was beautiful and cozy. We truly needed for nothing while here! Great price and place to get away from the busy city!
- Annabel (9/5): Great couple of days in a beautiful hotel - Location and great bedroom We would have liked a kettle in the room to make tea . Just a small point!
- Scott (6/5): - Very clean and nice atmosphere. Check-in was all online/text based which worked pretty well. Room was clean and had a nice fireplace, tv with Hulu and Netflix along with good WiFi. The room comes with breakfast delivered to your room, which is nice but arrives luke warm and was exactly the same each day. The bathroom was nice but cold, with no heater. The walls are very thin, so we could hear someone snoring, others talking, and another couple…enjoying their stay. Our room was also never serviced (3 night stay) which was only a problem because of trash piling up (from breakfast items) and dirty glasses (we used to drink our daily orange juice). It is a nice place but definitely not a typical hotel like stay.
- esanch09 (10/5): Beautiful place to stay in Cambria - Found this lovely inn while trying to find accommodations to have an overnight stay in Cambria. The place was honestly better than I could have ever expected. My room was in the back house, where a lovely and friendly cat greeted me when I entered. There was a plate of cookies for everyone to indulge in, and the room was stunning! Thoughtful decor throughout, with a beautiful modern fireplace. We slept comfortably and had breakfast delivered to us in a very cute basket. I have gone to previous hotels that do something similar but this breakfast was by far, the most delicious! I was sad to leave, but my partner agreed that we have to come back and stay at the inn again. Already looking forward to it :)
- Kimberley (8/5): - We love the J Patrick Inn! This is our second time visiting. Although we admittedly miss some aspects of our visit several years ago especially seeing any staff on the property to interact with, it was still a wonderful stay. The grounds and room were beautiful and very clean! Thank you!
- Susan (6/5): - Easy access to room, which was large yet overcrowded. Very comfortable bed. Cookie tray was nice touch. Shower tricky to use. Breakfast tasty but items needed separation in box, and straw needed for juice carton.
- Heavrin (8/5): Very good - A pace to relax quietly Felt like I stepped back into 2020 at the height of covid.
Faceless ghosts of the staff.
