• Dana (6/5): - Arrived ten minutes before 9am for breakfast, only to be told she just put everything up, but there’s coffee she said! Front desk guy had to be called to our room twice for help with the tv remote and the ac. Both times he acted as if we were stupid that he had to walk to our room! Terrible customer service. Would not stay there again!

• Hans (6/5): Hmmm… - On the plus size the bed was comfortable and they tried to furnish it nicely. The TV and channels were great. However, there were a few dead bugs on the floor and the bathroom was in disrepair. Water on the floor; toilet would barely flush; bathtub was a mess. Plenty of towels but about 3am the guy in the next room blasted his country music so that was it and we got up and left. I don’t know if all the rooms have this trouble but I wanted to give a fair and honest review.

• Verified traveler (4/5): NOT recommended! - Nice staff but hotel room had broken curtains hanging lose. Also the room and the whole facility had lots of crickets everywhere. We couldn’t sleep with the sound of all the crickets in the room. Also the town had limited places to eat, etc.etc. Very dissatisfied!!!
• William (2/5): - Pics and reviews online are very misleading. Pool is green. Kind of a “no tell motel” vibe to the place. Get to my room and it’s 89° in here, at 11:30pm. Floors are stained and dirty, dead crickets EVERYWHERE. Pillows look and feel like it’s 2 sheets stuffed in a pillow case. I can’t describe the smell, but it is not pleasant. Bathroom is disgusting. What appears to be urine and who knows what on the wall and floor by the toilet. Who knows the last time this bathtub/shower got wiped down. I don’t want to touch ANYTHING in here. I’ve been coughing since I walked in the door and can’t seem to stop. Not even going to bring all my stuff up to the room. I will be canceling my reservation for tomorrow night. I wouldn’t stay tonight if it wasn’t midnight. Actually, I think I may go sleep in the truck.

• Gabriela (8/5): - We had a quiet room close to the lobby. Parked our car next to our room. They had hot water and coffee all the time in the lobby which was more than I expected. Facility was clean. I liked that there was an offer of three fruits for breakfast.

One of my rooms was a 2 queen beds no big deal since we had one missing person on our drop. The shower condition was horrible. The other room we had a dead big on our wall and whole near our bed. Definitely not what we expected from pictures. We had to check a day early I was not sleeping one more night with my 1yr old in those condition. Definitely needs a lot of maintenance.

The initial room we received was a bit dusty, but after explaining our concern about potential asthma attacks to the front desk staff, they accommodated us with a less dusty one and room was clean; that met our satisfaction. We really appreciated that Raj!
• OLGA (2/5): - Rooms were filthy and was not able to use pool due to pool was filled with green dirty water, service desk was so rude. We had to move to another hotel, please advise other tavelers not to book this hotel since it is not able sanitary.
• Nancy Joline (10/5): - The property was nicely lit and was very quiet. It was extremely clean and the manager was polite and friendly. Only negative thing was the room was very muggy, stuffy. A/C would've been nice to walk in to. But it got nice and cool within a Cpl hours. I enjoyed my stay!

I had to kill multiple flies in the room that kept dive bombing my face. Big clump of hair on the floor in the bathroom like someone cleaned their hairbrush out and threw it in the floor. The entire toilet moved when you sat down on it. The only positive thing was the air conditioner worked good.

• alytex210 (2/5): Not clean - This was probably one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced. I arrived in the middle of the night, due to extreme weather. The woman at the front desk was less than enthused to see me. Once in the room I was not excited to be there, but had no choice to stay. The shower had personal body hair all over the base of the shower, there were used and dirty shampoo bottles on the shelf, there were multiple dead bugs in the room on the floor and when I turned on the heat the smell was beyond disgusting. I would never stay here again.

Might have been some fluid on the wall, didn't want to explore.

• NorCalSarah (2/5): Never Stay at the "Hotel" Vernon! - Never Stay at Hotel Vernon! (This is an updated review of the Hotel Vernon. Trip Advisor took down my original review because it went against their policy about "Profane and Vulgar Language." Let that sink in for a moment.) Let me start by saying that I do not normally write a lot of reviews (you can see that from my profile here), and when I do write reviews on any platform I generally only write positive reviews about positive experiences I’ve had. If I don’t care for a place, I usually just close the door and move on. Not this time. Our stay at Hotel Vernon was one of the worst experiences I have EVER had, anywhere. Read on if you want the details, if not, just know we do NOT recommend this motel (not hotel). My sister and I are traveling by car across country, and trying to keep our costs in check. We decided we would stay the night in Vernon, Texas because of the distance to our next stop. Based on reviews and an article here on Trip Advisor, we booked a room through Expedia. (The trip was booked under my sister Jennifer’s name, so Hotel Vernon, don’t try to deny we are real customers) We got in VERY late from driving all day, and checked in. All fine. Room was clean, though most of the furniture was very chippy and worn. Whatever, it was clean. We planned to not get up super early because we had another full day of driving ahead of us, and needed to sleep. We are not ‘spring chickens,’ we need our sleep! At 9am, the maid BANGED on the door, OPENED the door (but could not get in because we had the top latch latched!), yelling “Housekeeping!!” I was totally asleep, but woke up, startled, and yelled back, “We’re not ready yet!” We got up, granted moving pretty slowly, and made coffee, etc. At about 10:50am, two men (one older, one younger) loudly banged on the door, tried OPENING the door (thank goodness we had that top security latch latched -AGAIN) and started YELLING, in a threatening manner, “What’s going on?? Are you leaving?? My maid has been waiting for a half an hour to clean your room!” (Check out is 11am, she had not been waiting a half an hour already to clean our room) My sister was near the door and replied, “We’re not quite ready yet!” “Well when you be ready??” “In about 30 minutes” “No! I’ll give you 10 minutes!” “Well we won’t be ready!” “Then you have to pay for another night!!” “Okay, fine, we’ll pay for another night! Let me get my card” She brought her card to the door, but they had already left. We thought, okay… They came back, yelling again, treating us like we were squatters, and by then my sister was in the bathroom. They were yelling that we needed to pay or leave, and I brought the card to the door and handed it to the younger man, saying “We said we were paying for another night, here is the card!” I passed it to them, and closed the door. The young man brought it back in a couple minutes. We finished packing, and loaded up the car. Right before we left, I brought the room key to the office. The only person there was the young man, sitting at a table in the common area. I put the card on the check-in desk, and looked at him and said (very calmly), “That was completely inappropriate…” And he immediately started yelling at me again, “Why?? We came to your door 3 times!” I said “yes, and the maid was there BANGING on the door at 9am!” He said “that is what she is supposed to do!” I said, “There is a phone in the room, if you were concerned you could have called us instead of coming to the room and yelling at us!” He yelled, “You didn’t have the courtesy to come two steps here to the office??” I said, “We weren’t dressed yet! So No!” He said, ”It’s 12 o’clock now!” And I said, “Yes, but we PAID for a 2nd night!” He then was just yelling over me at anything I said, and then he YELLED, "(an expletive two word phrase that is very commonly used to show discontent or to show contempt)" at me. (Trip Advisor removed my original review because I wrote that phrase out initially, but it violated their Profane and Vulgar Language policy) He did actually yell those words at me! I was so shocked, but yes, I did yell that same phrase back at him. He then flipped me the bird, and yelled the phrase again. With that I left, yelling the phrase plus "and I can’t wait to write the worst review ever!” So shocking, the whole thing. I then proceeded to take photos of all the broken and chippy things in our room, the broken ice machine (telling people to go across the street to use that one instead!), and the sticker on their door of the CLEARLY out-dated and 100% incorrect rating of 8.3 on Hotel.com! Beware this terrible place, find somewhere else to stay - there are lots of options on Vernon, TX.
• kathyg112 (2/5): Hair in the bath tub - Do not stay there . There was hair in the bath tub. I am so disappointed . The tv work off and on. The pictures on line looked a lot better than it does in person. I told house keeping . They said they would tell the front desk . I tried to call and they said I would half to call back and talk to the owner . So I called back and got the night manager . He was not nice .

• Vacation61584354174 (2/5): DISCUSTING - This place is gross. So dirty with stained sheets. Holes in the walls. Bathtub and bathroom are discusting. It says it is upgraded but it is definitely not. It is extremely run down. The staff is super rude as well. They do not care they just want your money. The owner kicked us out for leaving a bad review. Came to our door at 11pm telling us we had to get out because of our review and did not refund our money. Do not give this dump your money. It really is that gross.

• Sonia (2/5): Bed Bugs - There were bed bugs in my room. I was absolutely appalled and disgusted. They moved me another room when I realized it (at 230/3am) after relaxing in the bed for a couple of hours. Bed bugs spread and I now have to inspect and possibly bomb all my belongings to ensure containment. Housekeeping also woke me up early due to conversing outside of my door. This was not a pleasant stay, nor did I receive the proper sleep I should have. I’m not only hurt tangibly, but I’m also hurt mentally thinking they are in my clothes, shoes, hair, etc. This experience was the worst. I will never stay here again nor do I recommend.

• tireyv2024 (4/5): Pictures on the site fool you. - The rooms look nothing loke the pictures. the bed was so uncomfortable, the sheets had spots on them that looked like from dead bugs, hair on the sheets and in the towels. The room smelled of urine like all the rooms was moped with the same water. We had a problem of some one banging another door at midnight and yelling. The gentleman at the desk was polite when we did our check in and that's the reason for the 2 stars.

• Daydream47946 (8/5): Worthy of being called a hotel. - A well run Hotel, the room was staged nicely with a good bed, a desk, and an easy chair with a ottoman. I didn't hear a lot of highway noise, and I like parking in front of my room. The continental breakfast was good, with proper coffee. They have a huge cable TV lineup, with a guide channel. My only complain is the towel was a little skimpy.

I recommend this hotel above all others in the area. You won’t be disappointed. The front desk personnel were great. Rooms are nice, very clean and all amenities worked well. Very nice place to stay. Great place located in a small Texas town in the country.

• Felipa (6/5): Disappointed - I come into town at least once a month to visit my grandchildren in Vernon, as i always stay with Hotel Vernon. I have never had a problem until this last stay. Front desk guy is extremely kind and welcoming but in my room I killed 5 big cockroaches, 3 in the bathroom and 2 on the curtain above the ac unit. Very disappointing. I hope this is taking care of, because I really enjoy everything else about this hotel

• 255gabbyh (2/5): Gross, filthy room. Rude staff! - If I could give no stars I would! This place was filthy! Stains on the bed sheets, stains on the chair. The toilet was beyond gross! There was mold and mildew on the floor in the bathroom. There was fly poop all over the lamp shade, the smoke detector, and the ceiling. I told the manager in the morning and he was rude just shrugged his shoulders and acted like he didn't care.

Bathroom had mold, fly poop all over fixtures, stained sheets, peeling paint, holes in ceiling from water damage...I could go on...I went to politely tell the manager and he stood there looking at me like I was crazy, hands in his pockets and just smirked and kind of giggled at me. Not a sorry or anything!
• Shelley (8/5): - The only complaint i have is that the water was reversed. Hot water was on the right and not the left. Couldn't figure out why we had no hot water for a while. Room was very clean and comfortable.
• Randy (4/5): Not the best - Look like it had been fully renovated in the photos when I got there the hotel room itself had new flooring not terrible looking at all, but the bathroom ceiling had mold all over the bathtub was old and needed repaired.

• Jenna (2/5): - I want to start out by saying that my husband and I are far from picky. All we ask for is a dog friendly location that is clean and well kept. When we pulled down the sheets in the first room, there were multiple hairs, including a pubic hair. When we contacted the front desk, they moved us to another room. There were stains on the sheets that he claimed were bleach stains, but they looked more like ejaculation spots. There were several hairs as well. As we inspected the room in front of the employee, he became aggressive and insisted that "this was not the property for us and he can't accommodate us" and that "we were looking for issues." We packed up and drove another hour, finding a La Quinta, which was immaculate. Don't waste your time staying here

• lwking01 (6/5): Meh-I rested ok. - I was really tired and my resistance down so I stayed here. Pretty much an average dump. Bed was ok. Only a couple cricket legs in the bath. It had hot water once I figured out how to turn on the backwards configuration. I was solo but wouldn’t take my wife here. It wasn’t a feel-good stay but adequate in today’s Bidenary economy.

• Deborah (4/5): - I already called and complained to Expedia and made a bad Yelp review, the desk clerk who apparently is the son of the owner was very very rude, please review surveillance video has he told me it is all on video, it all stemmed from an additional 20 charge for a pet, I thought online it showed 10 and he wouldn't give me the time to show him what it showed on the website and it just got worse from there, at one point after I tried to cancel the room I was told it non refundable but when I told him I would be complaining he said he'd let me stay if I didn't make a complaint, I let him know I would be happy to leave with a credit to my account which he said he didn't charge to my card, which it would have to come from 3rd party educated then I needed a room, probably the worst part was at the end where I found out the room was on the 2 floor, admittedly I didn't think to specify I needed a ground to floor when reserving the room, I let him know i was disabled and offered to show him my handicap placard he told me it would be extra for a bottom floor!! Then he proceeded to tell me again several times he would do me this favor, in the end I told forget about it I didn't want any favors from him and proceeded to carry all my things up the stairs which I can barely go up and down without anything hindering me let alone several bags and a BIG suitcase, I actually wonder if this is an ADA violation!! To say the experience was horrible doesn't actually come close to how bad it was !!
• 592logany (4/5): I will never stay here again - Got in late first night and slept fine. Room was OK for the price. Not impressed but price was cheap. Next day we got back to the hotel and there was a heavy smell of marijuana outside (non smoking room). Told hotel manager and at first he said it’s happened before and he can’t do anything about it. In our room the smell was really strong. Called manager, he came down and said he didn’t smell anything. Me and my son are 100% sure and it was a strong smell, not faint. There is no way he didn’t smell it. Manager said he couldn’t do anything. I Asked to be moved and he said the move wouldn’t help. Asked for a refund and since it was after check out time he wouldn’t. We left without refund. I just wish he would have tried to fix the situation. Had no solution other than he didn’t smell it so it didn’t exist. But he admitted before that workers that stay there smoke marijuana there.

• Linda (2/5): - We were unable to stay the night due to an infestation of crickets, and ants in the bathtub. The overall cleanliness of the room was unsatisfactory. The manager as much as admitted that he only has one cleaning lady for the entire complex, and he became rude and argumentative with us when we said we would not stay. He said he could not refund our money because we had booked through Expedia. I will never use this hotel, or book through Expedia again.
• JEFFREY (6/5): Functional, but not nice - It's just...okay. Stayed their for the Hotter N Hell. It's functional. They're dealing with cricket swarming, which is fine but their housecleaning staff isn't doing a great job cleaning up the dead crickets.
• Jet65826955139 (8/5): Flash Back MOTEL in West Texas - This family run, mid-century MOTEL was fully updated, comfortable and just as the photos described. My room had a microwave, mini-fridge, and all of the other amenities in a modern hotel. I loved driving up to my room and parking in front of my door, just like when I traveled as a child with my parents. The clientele was not scary, just a bunch of road weary travelers in West Texas. The breakfast was typical American Continental breakfast, but served with a smile. You definitely see "Pride in Ownership" at the Vernon. The Vernon is dog-friendly, but does not have a "Dog Park." The commons areas were nice. I can not give this 5 Stars, because, well... I have stayed at 5 Star HOTELS. But, as far as MOTELS go, Hotel Vernon is a solid 4 Star.
• Heidi (4/5): - I killed 14 crickets and 3 flies in the 10 hours i was there. Soap from last guest on shower wall
• Douglas (6/5): It is what it is, not my favorite hotel… - The pictures on the app did not match my room when I entered my room it was 95° and took almost 3 hours to cool down. We are in Texas but there was a lot of insects in my room…icky stains and I believe when I book through Hotels.com they give me the worst room, always always always, but I had no choice this time…

• sam (2/5): Bad motel - There was bugs in the rooms. Breakfast was gross the juice was so sour and expired.
• Constance (10/5): - Very nice, clean room. Modern, comfortable bed.
• Dania (2/5): Gaging - It smelled like cigarettes all night. There was dirt and hair underneath the sheets. One of the beds had a corn dog stick at the foot of the bed under the sheets. There was a dead roach on the floor in between the beds. The floor was sticky and it was extremely dirty underneath the beds. There was stains on the tub and toilet seat. The room itself was horrendous. I highly do not recommend unless you’re homeless or literally have nowhere else to go. Very displeased by the fact that the extra lock on the door was broken. My cat smells like cigarettes due to the stench in that room.
• Nikolay (4/5): - This was supposed to be a decent place with breakfast. The reality was different. Outside it looks all fine, but inside it is pretty bad. The rooms are old, damage everywhere. The bedding was dirty. Sheets had ton of stain, likely they were not even washed. Pillowcases were also very dirty. Even though we got new sheets, we had to not use the pillows. The breakfast was poor. Orange juice tasted like it was rancid. The breakfast only included some sweets, cereals, coffee, and bread. There was nothing there to give to 3-year old child.
