The parking was very convenient, too. There was one anomalous experience with a less pleasant staff person but otherwise it was a nice experience. I just didn’t love getting stuck in a basement room that was hard to orient our way to and from.

- Helen (7/5): A very pleasant hotel. - Staff are lovely and very helpful. Particularly the girl on the desk with the lovely glasses and the restaurant staff. My room was opposite the elevator. Lots of bells ringing and people talking outside my room and clattering cases.

Check in was pleasant and efficient and the inn was so idilic, very large and clean with very comfortable beds and nice fluffy towels and such a nice quant sitting area in lobby, also quite large with a roaring fire. Breakfast was amazing, French toast was some of the best ever had. We enjoyed our time here so very much.

- Violet (10/5): The Inn in the heart of Amherst is cozy, beautiful and professionally run. - The inn is cozy and beautiful. Staff are professional and kind. Food was excellent. Library with open fire was perfect in winter! I like everything.
- Arnold (9/5): It was great - Loved the hotel. Great bar and restaurant in this historic inn right on the main square/green in Amherst. Charming "library" off the main lobby with a big fireplace where guests and students gather. The only little nit-picks are: They have these beautiful old fireplaces built 100 years ago in the library and elsewhere. But like so many hotels these days they've converted them to gas which is like... really? It would just be so much more satisfying to have a real fire in there with the logs crackling and staff stopping by every hour to throw on another log... at least in the main fireplace in the library. Also the gym is too tiny. But we really did love our stay and the staff was wonderful.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this hotel. The parking left quite a bit to be desired. Also, I had an early evening check-in but had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to arrive at the front desk.

The bedroom had plenty of space, the bathroom was nice, and the lounge area with fireplace was very homey and inviting. There was plenty of parking space and everything was lean and functional. Definitely recommended for staying in Amherst. I did not like that there was no overhead lighting in the bedroom, only the lamps. A minor critique, but it made the room feel a bit enclosed.

- Isis (8/5): - We recently stayed at this lovely Inn and found many things to appreciate, though a few details kept it from being truly exceptional. Parking was well-organized with clear instructions and a provided pass, though it was quite a walk back from the lot. A 10-minute loading zone in front of the Inn made unloading luggage easy. Our room was spotless and thoughtfully prepared, with an air purifier added for my allergies and scent-free bedding exactly as requested. Both the linens and mattress were excellent, though the bed frame was noisy enough to make sleeping difficult. The evening experience was wonderful — the gentleman at check-in made us feel genuinely cared for, our dinner server was attentive, and the bartender created a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The next morning, however, the tone shifted dramatically. The staff seemed disengaged and borderline rude, which was disappointing after such a warm evening. It felt as though the A-team handles dinner and events while mornings are left to whoever’s available. The Inn itself is beautiful, and with consistency in hospitality, it could easily be a five-star destination. We’re only an hour away and often visit Amherst and Northampton — I truly wish the morning had matched the evening’s grace, as we’d love to return often.

So nice wedding happening outside our window a craft fair or something on the green in front of our hotel parked right next to the door. Rooms are very omfortable, nicely decorated and fresh and clean, though our bathroom (105) was on the small side, though spotless and nicely done We inquired at the front desk about a gift shop as we wanted to get a small gift with the name of the inn for a friend who used to work in the kitchen here when we were in high school nearly 60 years ago. Surprisingly the inn does not sell engraved gifts of any sort, but Edward at the front desk offered to go in search of something. Within 30 minutes he called to let us know he had found some new unopened decks of cards with a lovely painting of the inn on each. He brought these to the room for us and was very gracious. His special customer service made our experience here even better, so many thanks to Edward. I will also add that our dinner in the restaurant was outstanding, both the food and the service. The only slight disappointment in our experience was learning that the couple checking in in front of us were given a $16 restaurant credit coupon because they had booked through Expedia, while we - who had made the effort to book directly through the inn's website - we're not given any such credit. I was surprised and would have hoped they would want to thank patrons who book directly.
- 799megk (10/5): What a delight from start to finish! - We had a delightful time at the Inn on Boltwood. It is a lovely property, and our room was in pristine condition with attractive fabrics and art, and everything feeling very fresh. It is the staff working here, however, that make it so special. Edward at the front desk went above and beyond the call of duty, and is a gem! He made our stay very special, and helped us celebrate a friend's history with the Inn in a wonderful way. Dinner at 30 Boltwood was even better than we remembered from prior visits. Attentive but never overbearing service from a professional and knowledgeable server. Had the new ahi dish on the menu, and it was an outstanding combination of flavors with perfectly prepared ahi, street corn emulsion, spaghetti squash, and a sweet serano pepper jam. Would make the trip worthwhile just to have had this dinner. We are looking forward to enjoying reading in the welcoming library replete with comfortable chairs, a chess board, and a roaring fire. Highly recommend the Inn on Boltwood.

Location is great, rooms are all different & parking is available- though it’s hit or miss on whether you can find a spot. There is fireplace, many books available, and restaurant and an outside patio with fireplace. Always feel safe coming here. Very charming.

- Kimberly (10/5): May I Live Here? - The Inn on Boltwood came highly recommended by a friend who teaches at Amherst. It did not disappoint. I've traveled a lot and stayed at many hotels, but I've never wanted to just live in one before. The Inn is immaculate and beautiful. The staff were friendly, kind, and welcoming. Malina, knowing I was there to visit the Emily Dickinson museum in honor of my retirement from teaching English for 46 years, gave me a book of Emily's poetry and a bookmark when I arrived. I was thrilled and so surprised. The food in the restaurant was incredible. It was delicious and I could not even finish it all. Amherst was my favorite place on this trip and I'd love to see it in the snow. It would be worth flying across the country from Idaho again just to stay at the Inn on Boltwood.

- Valerie (10/5): Excellent Historical Property to Stay! - Really great staff on the front desk, the bartender, Tom was excellent, Adam the server in the restaurant was a super star. The location is amazing as was all the areas to hang out around the property were fun and comfortable. We had dinner also at the restaurant, (we actually had 3 meals) and the filet was cooked to perfection! We loved the food…. Unfortunately, Devron, our waiter for dinner was lacking and probably shouldn’t be in this vocation! Not the best for such an amazing location and everyone was great except the aforementioned waiter. The place is a gem! We’ll be back to stay!
- Christina (10/5): - This is a lovely New England inn, situated downtown Amherst. It was convenient for my time working at UMass for a couple of days, and I enjoyed the room as well. Food was quite good at the restaurant, with great drinks.
