Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was ok. The sheets were clean but blankets and bedspreads had old cigarettes holes. The bath towels were new. The public areas were sad and worn. I got locked out of my room in the morning and there was no one around to help me.
- Kent (2/5): - We were not allowed to stay. The manager would not honor my expedia reservation ( I showed him the your confirmation) saying you listed the wrong price. When I said this seemed like a bait & switch the manager freaked out and would not allow us to stay even when I said I would pay the higher price. To his credit he did call the other motel in town and found a room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Didn’t honor reservation price. - They did not honor the reservation price and charged about $30 more- wasn’t a resort fee or tax or anything like that just a base rate change as the hotels.com price was “too low” according to the manager. Hotel made a photocopy of my credit card and security code which I demanded the photocopy of my card back as that’s not legal for them to keep. I travel a lot in small towns and I’ve never had this problem. The room was decently clean but we had to get new sheets due to an unusual stain. Housekeepers were very friendly but management has some room for improvement. Had we not been traveling through and checking in late in the evening to sleep and drive on, we would have gone elsewhere after the price change.
- Marie (8/5): - I was very nice but thought it was closer to the Glacier National Park entrance
- R8067WYjamesm (10/5): I'll be back - You're making a mistake if you pass it up. I'm long distance bicycle touring. I entered town from the west. I saw the chain hotel, grocery store was close to resupply, inquired with a customer at a convenience store, she said some locally owned independent ones were on east side also. I read reviews and cked out the Glacier Gateway Plaza, "under new management. Helped a cyclist.". Bingo. At ck in the owner offered to shuttle me for groceries and was critical to my getting my bicycle on at Cut Bank and unmanned, whistle stop, station. I had a passenger ticket but no bike pass. He facilitated making it happen. Without his help I'd been up .... creek w/o a paddle. He, conductors and Amtrak made it happen. Adventure in an adventure. Great hotel staff, and rooms, bath clean, very reasonable price good restaurants recommendations. Great sunrise view from the front.
- racheloX342OV (2/5): Doubt it could be worse - The management is terrible. No one is at the front desk and you call the owner on his cell phone that is posted. He sends his daughter to check you in by writing your name and number on a notebook.
She left the desk to find a room, checked us into a dirty room. My request for a clean room was possibly ignored? She left the desk and left me standing there. A young man came behind the desk and ignored me until I asked what was going on with the room. He told me he didn't work there but was okay to be behind the desk with private customer information.
I asked the owner, by calling the cell phone number posted and requested a refund, I was referred to the booking agent for that.
There are young kids running around the lobby and into the back desk area, the place smells and the services were so poor.
I am happy to share the owners cell number with Priceline and Trip Advisor are interested in speaking with their partnering business.
- jansW5088PY (4/5): Not a 5 Star Hotel - There was no one at the desk to greet guests. Asign in the window of the desk said to call the listed number to check in or for other assistance. Once in the room, there was trash from a previous guest still on the window sill. The water cooler in the lobby was empty, I watched a guest make coffee at breakfast because there was no worker present and guests wanted their morning coffee. One guest was trying to get towels for his room, called the number, no answer, and couldn't leave a message because the mail box was full. Later he told us he had to text the number to get help.
Another guest was looking for assisrance with the laundry and couldn't get help.
- norskman (10/5): Overnight on a 600 mile journey - Stayed here 3 years ago. Same great room. Clean, quiet, good service. Reasonable rates on TripAdvisor.com. Staff friendly, helpful, and informative. The room appears to have been updated in the last 5 years. Water is hot and plenty of it. Will stay again.
- donnascott2016 (4/5): Not great - This hotel is not as advertised at all. Pool & hot tub was closed for the season? The guy at the front desk made you feel like he was doing you a favor by being there. Not the cleanest room but if you have to stay for a night it will do.
- ianbergen (2/5): DON’T. JUST DON’T. - Had nothing but trouble with this property from the very start. Had stayed here the year previous and had no issues so decided to book again based on the price quoted online. The price was not honoured upon check in, and was told there was an “error” in the system. The “error” was theirs and they wouldn’t even cut a little break for the run around, but was too late to change. Secondly, we were told we were now staying on the opposite side of the hotel because the east wing had a “plumbing back-up”. We were told that he had to go around and place towels around all the toilets in the hotel just in case, including the one in our room. We got to our room and it was not the 2 Queen beds that we had booked and we were told that they were all out of rooms with 2 Queen beds, so we were stuck with 1 King. (Which was actually the most minor issue we had) The carpet in the room felt damp and sticky. The room door would barely close. The entrance to the hotel was covered in pigeon poop, there were cracks in some of the windows and outside window screens looked like they had been pryed off some of the rooms. The breakfast wasn’t even open one morning. On-top of all that, the smoke alarm in the main lobby beeped during our whole stay likely due to a low battery...
We were not informed of any changes to our booking before arrival. As far as I could tell there was one employee only. Looking back I should have just ate crow and walked out and never looked back. I would bet that if an inspector had visited this property, it would not have been open due to the “plumbing back-up” and faulty smoke alarm alone, never mind any of the rest.
I would NEVER stay here again, and I recommend that even though the correct price may be enticing, you spend even an extra $50 a night to STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Unless something really turns around I would doubt this place is even open in a years time...
- 935nickb935 (6/5): No one at check in for an hour, but place is good - I only gave it average because of 3 issues, the room was good and spacious has all you need, now the negatives.
1) arrived no one in either building so we could not book in, as other guests who were also waiting, tried the extension number just in reception, tried the number left at reception, no answer 2 times walked around both buildings trying to get attention, nothing! Tried external number again this was after 1 hour finally someone answered and we were able to book in, we had prepaid otherwise would have moved on.
2) hairs in the bath and not from the head, so totally flushed the bath.
3) continental breakfast really basic
- Xenab (2/5): So bad, just so bad - Where to begin...
Windows, curtains, carpeting and furniture were dirty - really dirty. Air conditioner too small for the room and emitted a stinky smell. We couldn’t open curtains/windows to let air in - no shears or screen.
No phone, no soap, no glasses, no bathmat,no coffee maker, as advertised. Fridge worked well - froze everything. Bathtub was very slippery.
Sheets were thread bare and stained. Pillows were flat with no loft. Mattress sides were so broken down, the top edge met the bottom edge when you sat down.
Sadly, this place needs some care, the ads are so misleading, as are the photos. It’s a dump.
On the bright side - good water pressure and the guy at the desk was nice and only one towel was stained, but they all were thin and rough.
- carriesQ4547ID (10/5): Great place to stop! Trustworthy owner and crew! - My husband and I stayed overnight July/27/2018 and had left some property in a bag the morning we left but didn’t notice until we traveled over 400 miles. We called the hotel and the housekeeping had turned it into the front desk. We asked the owner if he would possibly mail it to our home back in Minnesota since we were too far to come back. He said YES! He went OUT of his way to help us and I am thankful! Thank you West Glacier Inn for everything! We will definitely come back and stay on our way to glacier national park! Breakfast was great as well! Room was clean and had a good night sleep. THANKS AGAIN!
- jackwP2372JZ (2/5): Keep riding boys and girls-just keep riding!!! - This is probably the worst place I have ever stayed in and that says a lot. The first room we were given was not cleaned. The second room at least had clean bedding even though it appeared that the carpet had not been vacuumed/cleaned in sometime. Went to have a shower and there were long hairs stuck to the shower stall. Towels were like rubbing yourself with sandpaper. Continental breakfast consisted of nothing as the manager stated that she had been gone for 3 days and no one had replenished the breakfast supplies. I did get tea bags for a cup of tea in our room only to find that the coffee maker had coffee in the place where you put the water in. Dumped out the coffee to see a sludge in the bottom-no morning tea. Was told the indoor pool drained for the season-what the hell is the use of having an indoor pool if you drain it for the winter season?? If I could rate this place a zero I would.
- claytons770 (2/5): Stay far away from Glacier Gateway Plaza - Being road weary and exhausted after a long day on the road, Glacier Gateway Plaza was a welcoming sight, or so we thought. As we walked into the lobby, I noticed the place was completely deserted. Looking around, I noticed a sign displaying such & such a number to call for service. So, I called the number in which the manager answered. She stated the she was across the highway and that I would have to come over to her, as she was working two jobs and it would be an inconvenience to her to walk over to check us in. Inconveniently, I walked across the highway to register and get the room key. After returning, I proceeded to unlock our room, however, the key card would not work. I then called her and explained our key situation. At this point, she got highly irritated because she would have to get up and come over herself. When she arrived, I asked about night security because there was no one at the front desk. She then got highly perturbed and started fussing. At this time, she then started referring to me as "sweetie", which I stated that I was not her sweetie and not to refer to me as that. At this point in time, I had enough of this woman and her horrible attitude. I returned the room key to her and explained that we were not staying there. We then headed back to our car to leave. However, she decided to follow us out to the car which was parked in the gravel parking lot, continuing to rant and calling me sweetie. She stated that I was not getting my money back and to get off her property. She also sarcastically said to enjoy our stay at the Super 8.
- bfree271 (6/5): Ok - We stayed here on the way to Glacier and it was fully in the fine category. Nothing special but it got the job done. Breakfast was only carbs and the hot tub did not have water in it. The room was clean and the Wi-Fi worked. I would probably try somewhere else if in the area again but would be fine if we ended up here again.
- Elemes613 (6/5): Surprisingly ok - I am pretty sure that Cut Bank Montana is where dreams go to die.
This is a dingy little town, that doesn't seem to have a while lot going on.
If you are stuck in Cut Bank this hotel will do the trick. Yes it is old, but there was a roof over our heads and it was clean enough.
If you have the choice, stay in Shelby which is just down the road.
- BiggerPassportPlease (8/5): Basic Hotel - This is a motel style place, but rooms are accessed from the inside hallway. Our room was clean and spacious with a mini fridge and microwave. Beds and pillows aren't the greatest, but was able to sleep. Free wifi and free breakfast. Breakfast is nothing great and coffee was weak.
- Ronan96 (4/5): not recommended - Nobody at the desk, no answer to phone. Room has dirty windows, sticky tabletops, grimey bedspread, broken coffeepot, only one wastebasket with no plastic bag, pool and spa closed and empty. One good thing: free fast internet.
- AngelEyesfromshakey (4/5): A place to lay your head on the wyt through - It's clean, it's a place to lay your head. On a scale of 1-5 and 5 being best, I'd give it a 3.... It reminded me of a Motel 6. I can say it was quite. Rooms are starting to look worn. The owners are friendly.
- matthS5553TT (2/5): Run. Run now - The hotel is just downright dingy. Everything is broken, nobody man's the desk, the pool and hot tub do not work. And hot tub do not work. The place has a leaky indoor fish pond that exudes a foul odor. Seriously, just run.
- got_mt (2/5): Worst Hotel in Cut Bank - This is a horrible hotel. The service is terrible, I made a reservation and they lost it and had to move me to their other hotel across the street. The room was dirty and smelled, there were ants in the room, and the bed was uncomfortable. I will never be staying at this hotel again. Super 8 is a much better option if you are in Cut Bank.
- lucindarw (4/5): Mediocre hotel in dumpy town - We were on a long road trip and stopped east of Glacier National Park. We were uncertain of what options were available ahead. Wish we had kept driving. The internet site for the hotel made it sound nicer than it was. The employees were nice, but couldn't find a key to open up the front desk. We asked about the indoor pool and were told where it was, only to find an "out of order" sign on the entire pool area. Unless you are visiting a relative, there is no good reason to stay in Cut Bank.
- natehed144 (6/5): It's a place to stay - Perfectly fine for a small, remote town. Given the chance, try to stay on the upper floors at the Super 8, or make it down to Great Falls for a better selection. Slow wifi, although they give you the cables to plug your computer in instead. Technically there's a workout room, enter at your own risk. Perfectly average for small town, middle of nowhere
