Guest Reviews
- Maryann (4/5): - I didn't not expected the room to small for 3 people, the bathroom to small then in the middle of the night to big cockroaches are walking in the wall and we complain to the front desk she kill the cockroach then we transfer to other hotel.
- Malcolm (2/5): Not the best - I dont blame the hotel its self but hotels.com for not telling me a show above the toilet please see photo. No space for luggage. No kettle anywhere. No remote control for the tv. Only a small gap to get into the bed but was comfortable. The location was superb though a 2 minute walk to the street food market and a 10 minute walk to Jordan MTR. Can not add a photo
- Kazu (2/5): - The explanation says the front desk
opens 24/7 but the my check in was refused, even I sent the message that about late check in.
- Jesse (10/5): - Its right in the heart of hong kong
- HARDEEP (10/5): Deep - Good
- Verified traveler (2/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Hollers stand outside the building in which this hotel is located. Room is extremely small with old sheets, towels and old bathroom.
Both room and bathroom are incredibly small.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The Expedia description is completely false. They advertise swimming pools, bars, restaurants and night clubs INSIDE the hotel. There is nothing. Up a filthy staircase, with prostitutes and their “manager” in front of the entrance 90% of the time. Once the prostitutes had a customer, they walk up the same stairs to a door across the hall from the “hotel.” The room was so small with 2 of the promised “sleeps three” beds. There was literally less than 3 square feet of open space in front of bathroom. You had to shower over the toilet and small sink in one tiny, tiny space. The staff, when they were there, slept on a bench behind the front desk. It appeared as if they also owned the rooms across the hall that the prostitutes used all day, as we saw them interacting with the young girls “manager.” It was horribly disappointing as I had my two young sons with me and we couldn’t afford to go pay to stay somewhere else.
- Tamara (2/5): Don't waste your time or money - Prostitutes out the front, reception unmanned so unable to check in. Robbed, as paid in advance, and hotels.com refused to reimburse us. Unimpressed and angered. Taking the issue higher.
- Todd Michael (8/5): Restful layover stay - 1 night stay for a 14hr layover. Staff was very welcoming. Small room was clean and bed was comfortable. Conveniently located near Temple Street Night Market and Jordan MTR station.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Location was best thing. They sent me to a hostel 4 blocks away. Hookers are always standing close to hotel entrance. Only cold water in sink.
Seems this hotel acts as a broker for other hostels. Would not stay here again
- waou (10/5): - best best best
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location, near to almost everything and very easy to find
- Solange (4/5): Nicely put - The online amenities was not so true there is no airport shuttle nor pick up you have to take the local bus.
The rooms are small and it is right next tithe night market do there is noise all hours of the night. If you can sleep with noise it will be OK for you.
For a short stay with easy access to the temple street night market and walking distance to other attractions it is OK.
- Verified traveler (6/5): that price can get better - The walls are thin, if you're a light sleeper this is not for you. there will always be noise in the street and worst when there're people checking in, you can hear everything. the room is not spacious but same goes with every place in Hongkong. The bed is kind of high even for my height, bed sheets are dirty(pictures below). Bathroom is tiny, is a 1 step bathroom that's all you get, the sink is tiny with a small shelf on top. You cannot even wash your face in it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very Dirty!!!! - The place is very dirty!
Didn't change the bed sheet / pillow cover / blanket cover !
The toilet is included the bathroom ~ the place is too small ! I almost cannot turning around when I was taking a bath !
But the place is convenient ~ and the water is very hot!
- Kim sing (6/5): -
- anonymous (6/5): Cheap, safe, close to public transport and food - The hotel is small, requires a walk-up around two floors, and is in a red-light area. Room was small but had the necessary amenities plus free wifi. Seems reasonably clean---I didn't see any trace of bedbugs or other wildlife. Nice choice of restaurants just outside. The Jordan and Austin MTR stations are a short walk away. Several airport buses stop nearby: A22, A21 and E23.
- Lougmani (10/5): good hotel - Everything was good and perfectly the hotel is good located the stuff very friendly good reception
Very clean room comfortable bed
- Verified traveler (4/5): MICRO TOILETTE - Mini rooms and bathrooms ! Suitable for 1 night if you don't carry big luggage
- D (6/5): Nice location - Placed at nearby Jordan station and there are many shops around.
But I was made to get up in the midnight by staff, that's what I felt mad.
- Matthew (4/5): Is not a place I would take family - Booked room, not available. Second room, broken shower,no hot water
- raphael (10/5): good place for stay and travel - nice place, helpful and nice staff, near food, travel point, everywhere
- Raphael (10/5): good place - helpful staff and great place neqr anything. good location, all the things u need also provide.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): Just for sleep -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent first time in HK - Want to embrace HK's culture? This is a must stay! Comfortable, safe and secured hotel with hot showers, air conditioning, all the amenities, and front desk service. Sunny, the owner is very accommodating. Our flight landed at 1:30am and he was there to open the door for us at 2:30am. This hotel is literally above the night market filled with culture, delicious food, and a nearby metro station. You can easily access HK's markets from early morning to night (Temple Street, Yuen Po Bird Garden, Flower Market), hop on the subway to Central or swing in the opposite direction for Tian Tan Buddha and HK Disneyland. Heads up, you are sleeping above the night market, so to all those sleeping beauties and light sleepers, understand the location of your booking. There are always friendly smiles at the front desk and they are more than happy to buzz you in for the secured door. You cannot go wrong with booking at the Temple Street Hotel. Sunny is the best! Will definitely book again! Pro Tip: This location is perfect for only one to two voyagers, backpackers or visitors. If you're bringing family (3+), you might want to book two rooms.
- Rose-Ann (4/5): Not a good hotel - Not good. Too many "bayarang babae" waiting outside and in the stairs of the hotel.
- charles (6/5): A heartland for fun - Room very cozy. Overly stylish for this price. Bathroom surprisingly clean. South Asian staff team speaks English. I stayed there for four nights and I miss it and very much like to go back. Leave straight laced living behind and just let go. Tips: bring with you a pair of ear plugs for sleep if you are sensitive to noice like me. The night fun lasts all the way to at least two am. The air conditioner is slow but give it time. I got chilled enough to shut it by early morning.
- unhappy (4/5): Not recommended - Hotel is very small, got there and I was moved to another location, when I required assistance I had to find a payphone because the phone didn't work to call out. I told him i was in a hurry and couldn't find hours ish location and needed to go asap to catch my flight. When I needed to check out he took forever to come over then didn't see me went back home. Came back after a second call, slowly and didn't bring my deposit so I had to wait as he then left again and by the time he came back I was very late. I told him several times of my frustration and he just laughed at me and told me I won't be late but I was very late for my flight. He found have hurried, he could have brought my money the first time but he gave no care to my hassle and left me very upset. Not cool. Room was dirty when I arrived but he did clean it. Not convenient to reach staff. Didn't respond to emails.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Zero comfort - This place has absolutely zero comfort. The entrance from the street is filthy, room is tiny, smelled of old cigarettes, blanket on the bed was actually just a sheet so I was either freezing with aircon or sweating without. Do yourself a favour and pay a little more for basic living standards.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very organized place, very friendly staff.. room is very tidy, indeed small but thats common in hongkong for the same price.
- Axis (2/5): Hotel for hookers - Hookers waiting outside the hotel with a female pimp clearly visible for all to see. It was horrible. Only stayed one night. I felt so embarrassed because to bring my fiancée to such dumpster. I expect refund from Expedia for false advertising
- poor (2/5): dont book this hotel even if its free - worst experience
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient location with its drawbacks - Very close to the metro station and the very conveniently priced A22 bus service's Woosung street stop. The room is clean and capsule sized with no soundproofing and the A/C unit can be quite noisy. The neighborhood is lively and rowdy so be warned.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Smelly , no ventilation
Booked but Gave my room to other
- A Jay (4/5): Affordable - Inexpensive hotel, nice room, great neighborhood but building was not wonderful itself.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was terrible. We didn't get the room that I booked. The hotel was dirty and not up to standard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): very good location - There are many reasonable price restaurants near by the hotel, and good access to night markets.
- Egbert (6/5): Very easy relaxing stay-over - In the hotel at middle of the night 3.30 Easy to go there by nightbus A21. Busstop 32.looked like nobody was there to open. After knocking on the door they opend the door. Friendly sleepy boy gave us the room. We could take our time next morning and wasn't problem to check out later. Also permission to take little rest before check out. Luggage could be there till time that we would go to airport. We will use this hotel again for next stay!
- Yuk Lin (6/5): OK - The room is very small, however overall perception is higher than I expected.
Free wifi available, air-conditioned, shower with hot water.
(Water heater in bathroom is old style, customer need to turn it on and the light will on. We need to wait for around 10 mins for boiling water and light will be off. Afterwards there will be sufficient hot water for shower)
Location is convenience as it's near MTR station, many restaurants around.
However the hotel is in a very old building, the entrance of this building is quite dark.
Anyway, overall is ok with such low price.
- Anthony (6/5): Acceptable for an overnight layover stay - I had a 10 hours overnight layover in Hong Kong. Did not want to wait at the airport and did not want to spend $100 for a hotel which I will be spending maximum 6 hours in it. So I decided to stay at this hotel at a reasonable price. The hotel was exactly what I expected. The room is real tiny, but I have seen smaller room in Hong Kong. The room provides disposable toothbrushes, small refrigerator, and in-room safe. There is a receptionist who stay overnight which makes checking out at the wee hours possible. It is in a lively neighborhood. Many restaurants/street food are still open at 3 am (with many customers). Getting from and to the airport at any time are easy with E21 and the overnight N23 buses are within 5 minutes’ walk.
I will consider staying here again but only for another overnight layover.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Small room - The room was too small especially in bathroom but Wi-Fi was good connection.
- Verified traveler (2/5): meh - It was a cruddy small little hotel in a cruddy run down district in an awesome city. Everything felt super cramped up, costed more than what it was worth, the neiborhood was garbage and smelled bad, it was just a little shaddy. The people working at the hotel were nice. But honestly if your going to stay in beautiful hong kong for a week or so, do yourself a favor and at least try to save up a little more for a nicer place. they got some nicer hotels over in Central, Admiralty, ANYWHERE but Jordan. Unless you just want to get something super cheap. But do some research for sure before rushing into getting a cruddy room.
- Marco (8/5): A very good place for stop-over in the heart of HK - I was very pleased with my stay at Temple Street Hotel.
Staff have been incredibly welcoming and kind, and they also let me choose my room among the ones available.
The room was standard size (for this type of hotel in HK) but it was absolutely spotless and with all the amenities that one might expect.
Highly recommended especially for short stay business travelers or whoever else on a budget.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Reasonable price - the hotel has very reasonable price. Staff are nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location, small room, friendly staff. - The staff is really nice, helpful and friendly. The area is in the center of HK and you are only few minutes from the Subway. One block from Temple street fair. The room is really small but you get what you pay for.
Overall good deal if you travel on a budget
