Guest Reviews
- Maud (10/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): Very attractive hotel in a great location. - The furnishings and bed linens were both top quality. Very comfortable bed! Lots of closet space. There was no coffee/tea service in the room but the staff delivered tea supplies and kettle to my room. I had a single occupancy room on the top floor. There is no direct elevator service and the stairs would be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Very small bathroom.

- andrew (9/5): - Decor and location Price and tea/coffee making facilities in the room
Otroligt litet rum.

- Andrea (10/5): First Class - Wunderschön
- Richard (8/5): Wonderful little hotel that needs to rethink how the rooms are organized. - The hotel is beautiful and very tastefully furnished. The staff is uniformly helpful and friendly and will do anything in their power to accommodate a reasonable request. The atmosphere is quiet and dignified. The breakfast was tasty and abundant. The double sink in the bathroom was a treat. We stayed for 5 nights, and we had to live out of our suitcases. There was woefully inadequate space for our clothes and other items. There were three half drawers, and two of them had items in them. The "closet" was organized very poorly, leading to not enough room to hang up coats, slacks, etc. Finally, the bath tub was dangerously slippery, and there was no rubber mat to mitigate this problem. It was so slippery that one day I decided to forego a needed shower rather than put myself at risk of falling.
- Marjel (10/5): Delightful - Beautifully designed, boutique luxury and truly lovely service. Delighted!

- helen_the_editor (10/5): Impeccable afternoon tea - Everything was perfect! Thank you so so much to Theo who made sure we were able to enjoy our afternoon tea in the Library. (We were five school friends celebrating our sixtieth birthdays.) The setting was beautiful - the furnishings, flowers and tableware, and the tea was delicious and so elegantly served. There is a wonderful selection of loose leaf teas to accompany the finger sandwiches, scones and scrumptious sweet confections and we started with a glass of English sparkling wine. We were wonderfully looked after by such kind and efficient members of the hotel team and will look forward to coming back to Number Sixteen!
- Valeria (9/5): Cosy chic boutique hotel in London’s best location - Great location, very comfortable rooms and common facilities, clean and beautiful cosy design throughout. Feels like an upscale bed and breakfast experience. The service was a little disappointing, didn’t fit with the warm chic vibe of this hotel. Staff at the restaurant is kind and welcoming.

- RCSouthern (10/5): A fantastic find! - We had a fantastic stay at Number Sixteen, all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They made a lovely fuss of my wife when they heard it was her birthday. The location is great but also manages to be very calm, quiet and relaxing. It was our first visit but will definitely return.

- Avati (9/5): - Molto accogliente e curata Senza bidet nè doccetta
- djames92 (10/5): Perfect Weekend Staycation - My wife, our dog and I stayed at Number Sixteen for my birthday and it genuinely felt like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, every interaction with the team was warm and friendly. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
They went above and beyond for us. A dog bed and treats were waiting for our pooch, which was such a thoughtful touch. I was also surprised with lovely birthday treats that made the stay feel even more special.
The decor is beautiful. It is quirky in the best possible way, full of character, yet still incredibly comfortable and homely. Breakfast in bed was also a real highlight, it was sublime.
A huge thank you to the Number Sixteen team for such a fantastic stay. We will definitely be back.
- F6381KAjackh (10/5): Dreamy weekend - I recently stayed at No. 16 with my wife and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. We had a wonderful welcome on arrival by the friendly team who had the room ready before check-in time. The room itself was perfect; comfy bed, spacious, big bath etc. - what more could you ask for. We then tried the food - delicious!! Over the weekend we had the club sandwich, gnocchi and a huge room service breakfast (sausages, beans, croissant, juice, smoothie...the list goes on...)
All in all the hotel was also exceptional value for money and I would definitely recommend. Thanks everyone at No. 16!!

- londontraveller655 (8/5): Very good but silly greed - In principle a lovely townhouse hotel in a great South Ken location, close to a tube station, many museums, the Albert Hall and Hyde Park. Just a shame the silly greed of the owners spoils the experience.
We paid £540 for a deluxe room - very nice, but not huge and a small bathroom. There was no coffee machine or kettle in the room - on checkout, the receptionist said this could be pre-ordered for an additional £10 per night! Never heard that one before. We always leave cash tips for staff. I didn’t appreciate having an extra £22 in “service charge” automatically added to my bill - a tip should be at the discretion of the customer. Sounds like the management are underpaying their staff and relying on hotel guests for salary top ups. At least that’s my impression.

- kathleen (8/5): Wonderful boutique hotel. - Location was wonderful. Staff so gracious. The accommodations were very nice! Nothing
- Suzher (10/5): - Everything, from the general ambiance to the individual room decoration and the super nice staff. Nothing
- Stefano (9/5): - ambiente bellissimo, staff gentilissimo e disponibile colazione buona ma buffet migliorabile su backery
- perdita (7/5): Overall nice stay - Lovely interiors. Friendly staff. Great location. Lighting in 204 is reaaaaally bad. Needed some lateral lighting as opposed to just one very bright overhead light. Really let down the room.
Also the walls in the otherwise very pretty breakfast room were quite dirty which, when you are sat right against them, is a little off-putting.
- V4043RHjoes (10/5): Birthday Treat - We stayed here for my wife's birthday and couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived the staff were brilliant, so welcoming, friendly and eager to make our stay special. They went the extra mile to make my wife feel celebrated, including some complimentary treats.
The calm and relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel created the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy some quality time.
The highlight for me had to be the breakfast, it was superb. Offering a wide selection - from pastries and fruit, to a full English (which I have to suggest as the sausages were to die for!)
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future.

- Ascroftie (10/5): Home in South Kensington - Number Sixteen is an intimate hotel which feels like your own home. Beautiful interior design as you would expect from a KK hotel. Staff are friendly and attentive. The hotel garden is a delightful space, attached to the dining room. Location is super convenient to South Kensington tube station. Lots of great restaurants nearby too.
Sometimes though the living room areas can be busy with limited other options to sit.
We’ve stayed a few times … this time in room 307 and was shocked at the size of the bathroom … a cupboard and no more! … also the climb to the third floor would not be for all. Third floor rooms have lower ceilings and ours had shutters instead of curtains which seemed more functional than luxurious.

- Duncan (9/5): Have stayed here a few times before, and the service is always excellent - keep it up! - Great room and breakfast. Attentive staff.

- Indrani (10/5): Unique small luxury hotels - Staff and service was personal and excellent

- Joseph (9/5): Happy memories made in a magical place. - The property has a special ambience, which is charming and welcoming. The colourful interiors captivate with a sense of fun and playfulness while the garden exudes a gentle calm and serenity, a balm for body and soul. I liked everything about the property.
Rien
- Cayla (10/5): - This hotel service and style was superb! We stayed at 6 hotels throughout this trip and this hotel was my favorite. It had the best customer service and food. The back patio garden was serene. The room was comfortable but very cozy. Two people in a Superior room is tight- especially with the small bathroom size. I recommend opting for a larger room. Hope to stay here again!
- Frank (8/5): Very enjoyable - Location, staff, homely, breakfast It’s compact, lift only goes to the 2nd floor and we were on the 3rd , no toilets on the ground floor for guests to use if relaxing in front rooms
- kathleenu534 (10/5): A Kensington gem! - I have stayed at the Covent Garden Hotel before and am also familiar with Crosby, Whitby, etc. in NYC, so I had high expectations for my stay at Number Sixteen, which were far exceeded. It's a lovely place, a true London hideaway, with all the warmth and piquant charm that characterize Kit Kemp/Firmdale hotels. I had a restful and delightful four days there in the middle of a long trip. The staff is great - India welcomed me at the desk and was so kind, and I received several notes and treats from the manager, Frankie, during my stay. My room was a small, perfect gem, just like this lovely hotel.
- Mary-Ann (10/5): Oasis in the heart of London. - Beautiful, well appointed room, inviting common areas including an honor bar, good food, lovely garden and friendly staff. Great location, 3 minute walk to South Kensington tube station, near museums and lots of restaurants in walking distance.
- Joost (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (10/5): I would love to stay here again - it was like a home away from home in London - The decor and the garden were so beautiful.
- Escape05131802781 (8/5): Excellent bolthole - Stayed here for third time on recent London trip to attend Wimbledon. It is a beautiful small boutique hotel with the most wonderful interior decor by Kit Kemp. Close to train station and lots of interesting venues within walking distance. The staff are friendly and helpful however when we visited they needed more staff at breakfast as service was very slow particularly for coffee and refills. The bedrooms are comfy with lovely bright bathrooms. Room service is excellent. There is no tea/coffee machine in room but an honesty bar in lounge for all drinks. The weather was hot but you can open the window which is a bonus if u don’t like air conditioning. The hotel is on a quiet street and has a lovely garden. Look forward to staying there again
- Charles (10/5): - location. Rooms / bathroom in loft are extremely small however
- Scott (8/5): Number 16 London - Big fan of Firmdale, wasn’t offered an upgrade however.
- Gill (10/5): - It is a very pleasant environment. The breakfasts to go are excellent.
- Fiona (10/5): Highly recommended! - I stay here as often as I can. Wonderfully appointed, beautiful rooms. Amazing beds. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
- Biggs (5/5): Staff and food was great Bedroom etc not great - Breakfast and food in general was very good
Location very good The bed was small and the bathroom was so small we could not use it unless we opened the door.
No drawers to place out clothes in
- Marie (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Love love love!
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elle (10/5): A truly beautiful hotel - A stunning hotel experience - they have thought of everything - the beds the linen the interiors air conditioning - we had a wonderful time thank you
- Duppy77 (6/5): Hotel in south Kensington very close- too many steep staircases - The Number Sixteen Hotel is located in South Kensington very close to the tube and walking distance to a number of cafes. The decor is eclectic and interesting. Staff very helpful.
I was located on the third floor. This floor was not accessible by elevator. The elevator did not go beyond the second floor. After getting to the second floor and walking down a long corridor, you encounter a very steep narrow flight of stairs to the third floor! I imagine in years gone by it was where the servants slept!
Once I had made it up the stairs my door was literally and step away from the top of the stairs - a dangerous spot when exiting the room. The room was beautifully decorated - very comfortable bed but oh so tiny! The bathroom again was tiny, when sitting on the toilet my legs were under the wash basin! Heaven help a large person - they most likely wouldn’t be able to use the facility.
No fridge, no space other than the floor for your suitcase. Very disappointing! I overheard a couple of people asking to be moved to a lower floor mainly to avoid the steep staircases! I would recommend requesting either the first or second floors only.
- FussyUs (10/5): Excellent? Yes EVERYTHING ... - Excellent? Yes EVERYTHING was absolutely EXCELLENT and yet again EVERYTHING about Number 16 deserves 5-out-of-5 except for the breakfasts which surely deserve 6!
- Shirley (10/5): - Wonderful art and decor! Enjoyed the cheerful breakfast area and outside patio. Thank you.
- Jessica (10/5): Lovely boutique stay - Wonderful stay, clean and comfortable hotel. Staff are friendly, breakfast is delicious and the location is perfect! We will return!
- Layla (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah A (10/5): - Number Sixteen is a beautiful property on a quiet side street in bustling South Kensington. There is easy walking access to many restaurants, shopping, and the South Kensington Underground station. Property is beautifully decorated, with high end room amenities. Restaurant on property is lovely, with excellent food.
- floeyf (2/5): Peculiar place. - No I would not recommend this supposed 5 star hotel. Also not dog friendly although they say they are! The amount of charges piled on is ridiculous. For me the strangest part was upon arrival being handed a key and no one taking me to my room! How utterly peculiar. I would agree more like a glorified BNB than a 5 star hotel and far too expensive for the low level service you receive.
