Guest Reviews
- Rachel (9/5): -
- Kym (7/5): Everything good, enjoyable stay except the beds. - All was good, nice room, great food, except the beds. The two single beds in our room need to be thrown away. Even outback travellers deserve to sleep on decent beds.
- Guest (10/5): -
- Gabriele (7/5): Very enjoyable experience. - Friendly staff, good location, comfortable, easy process could use update, newer furnishings etc, doors, taps
- Sophie (5/5): Unsure what I was in for as the description had both shared and private bathroom listed. Don’t feel it was worth what I - Was very central to town, not far from the pub or flight tour centre.
Camp grounds looked nice and well kept. That there was only a bed, bin and air conditioner in the room. Was attached to other rooms. The description had a private bathroom listed but there was no private bathroom.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Grant (10/5): -
- Betty (5/5): Adequate - It was clean and close to the airport The bed was lower than I expected. The light in the bathroom didn't work. The door to unit 1 was difficult to open and shut.
- Ron (8/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): - Rose is awesome and the loveliest person you can meet Nothing . Really ideal spot.
- Yvette (7/5): - Amazing location. Shared bathroom/ toilet facilities kept very clean. Staff were delightful. Room was a bit grotty - floor and carpet dirty and sticky. Air-conditioning old and noisey.
- Tony (10/5): Must stay location - William Creek is iconic outback and the cabin was very comfortable. The AC was very welcome in 45C temperatures A bit dated, but hey, it’s the freaking outback so toughen up princess
- Lesley (6/5): The best hotel in town. The only hotel in town. - If you want to fly over Lake Eyre, which is just fantastic, then it's your only option. Bed was large and comfortable. The road to get there is terrible. We were told it was OK for 2WD, luckily we had an AWD. Some of the road is good but some is bad. I held my breath for 2 x 160km.
- Gerald (10/5): -
- Kerri-Lea (8/5): -
- Rosemary (7/5): William Creek is a challenge with great beauty. - William Creek is about as remote as you can get in Australia and the climate is punishing as are the dirt roads. But it is beautiful and challenging. Don’t expect 5 star but it is adequate and clean and comfortable. It’s perfect for what it is. Nothing
- James (7/5): Bloody Great -
- Cathy (10/5): Enjoyable - Staff were very helpful and polite!
- Tom (10/5): Comfortable - Very good experience overall!
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect outback accomodation - Great location
- John (8/5): A surprising oasis in a very remote desert location. - Great pub, good food, great staff & effective air conditioning in 42C weather. Initial accommodation was very disappointing but the staff went out of their way to upgrade us.
- Ian (7/5): Basic but comfortable and very roomy accommodation. - Nice big room and bathroom. Pretty quiet, despite diesel generator nearby and adjacent beer garden (no revellers while we were there though). A microwave would have been handy.
- David (7/5): - Great pub and atmosphere
- David (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): - Friendly staff, excellent restaurant, cold beer, fun surrounds, comfortable room
- Sharon (8/5): Flight over Lake Ayre - Proximity of bathrooms to room. Very clean facilities. Room clean but very small. Bed linen clean, but coverlet very stiff and noisy. Size of room
- Kerry (9/5): absolutey worth it and the best weekend of my life - An overall amazing different experience. Flights over Lake Eyre and landing at painted hills with an amazing informative young pilot. He had so much knowledge of the area. cannot complain about anything
- Gaeyle (2/5): - Location is amazing -iconic outback bedroom units had very thin walls, no sound insulation, noisy and tiny.
- Cheree (6/5): A place to experience.. one night would have been enough here. - Our flight over Lake Ayre was awesome!!
Lovely pilot Tess.. in very windy conditions the flight was surprisingly smooth and she was full of interesting information. The pub was lovely and interesting to have a look around and a few drinks.. friendly staff. Stayed in a room- 2 nights, very basic- which we expected. Facilities- bathroom and camp kitchens quite dilapidated and in need of some updating or refresh. Kids camped and had cold showers..
- Peter (8/5): - The whole outback experience
- Vanda (8/5): - We stayed in the camel house and were pleasantly surprised Private, spacious, quiet, comfortable
- Cindy (3/5): - Good water pressure. Shower and toilet was ok. Windows opened Room was dirty. No camp kitchen facilities. Broken flyscreen. No space for luggage. No table or bedside.
- Ray (10/5): -
- Anderson (6/5): -
- Tatjana (8/5): -
- Brodie (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay, and the budget rooms were spacious and comfortable
- Terina (8/5): - The staff were fabulous. The meals were great. Easy to check in. We thought the mattress could have been a little better.
- Monica (10/5): Relaxing stopover with good food and good vibes. - Great location.
Friendly Staff.
Amazing Publican and yummy food
- Margaret (6/5): A great experience of the outback including our flight over Lake E - Accomodation suited isolation of William Creek. Hotel was very welcoming and meal great.
- Gayle (6/5): - Staff - so friendly, helpful.
Hospitality - we were given amazing service. 9 people given fire so we could eat together.
Location
Food Family Hotel Room was very tired. Needs modernising. Flooring bad - trip hazard.
Cracked window. Little things make a difference. Don't leave chairs under birds nest. Nobody wants to sit on birdshit chair.
- Peirce (8/5): Comfortable outback overnight stop - Proximity to pub
- Trevor (8/5): So glad we drove to William Creek and took two special flights. - We brought our own breakfast but dinner was great. Good food (limited menu). The main reason was to fly over Lake Eyre & the Painted Desert which did not disappoint. Our pilot,Alex was terrific. Thanks Alex.
- Anne (10/5): - Everything was just how I like it. Basic, comfortable
Good toilets and showers and a fabulous pub with delicious meals. The flight over the lake was wonderful.

- Janelle (7/5): Basic accommodation, super helpful staff - Location, location - there is nowhere else to stay! Staff were excellent, everything seemed well coordinated, they were efficient and patient. The WC Hotel does well in an isolated location to provide a range of affordable accommodation, access to showers and meals. The standard isn’t high but equal to other remote areas we have stayed and it met our needs for a short stay to see Kati Thanda. Hot showers and laundry were appreciated. The camp kitchens were well below the standard of what is provided in other outback locations. They were virtually un-useable, dirty with no hot water. People were using the one hot tap/tub in the laundry to wash dishes. An upgrade to these would be fantastic so people have choice to self cater as the pub gets very busy.

- Jessica (10/5): -

- Pamela (8/5): The ensuite cabins are clean, comfortable, and a stone’s throw from the unique William Creek Hotel. - Our ensuite ‘cabin’ was a good size, clean and comfortable. Perfectly situated a stone’s throw from the quirky, friendly William Creek Hotel. Nothing to dislike.
- Aileen (7/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - Clean. Pub was great. Flight over Lake Eyre a highlight No bbq facilities for those in a tight budget. Had to eat at the pub which was rightly expensive given location.
- Cindy (3/5): Not great - Close to the airstrip for flights We hired a family room. The dongas don’t look too bad from the outside.
The beds are somewhat awful!
Chipboard screwed on base where there should be slats on the double bed, with a lumpy mattress.
The single bed was basically a camp stretcher and sagged heavily when laid in.
The carpet was old and frayed, with small rocks in corners still.
I’ve stayed in better accommodation of a similar sort when I worked on stations.
Usually I’d say ‘pretty good for the location’ but this really is a town owned by one man ripping off tourists.
The bar is very expensive, and the meals are simple, for example the $30 lasagne is the cheapest catering version that not even mines use for their staff anymore.
Fuel is $2.99 which is sort of understandable, but all round, the town a bit of a rort.
Options aren’t available, so they make the most out of tourism, clearly not expecting return travellers
- Corinne (7/5): - Location Central bathrooms
- Ken (8/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): Top marks William Creek Hotel - The experience of William Creek was fantastic for its location the place is great, clean and the staff are friendly hard working young travellers. Top marks people great job. And the flight over the Lake and Painted Hill a lifetime dream so amazing to see.
- Denise (4/5): - The pub and food Rudeness of some staff too busy chatting up girls to serve us and when asked slammed the card terminal down in front of us glaring and the generator going loudly all night long
- Jeff (9/5): -
- john (3/5): Very disappointed - A stop over on a remote track for break. Our Room was opposite the generator that was running all night and over priced .
All goods and services were unnecessarily overpriced . Other remote establishments are not as greedy.
- Furlong (9/5): -
- Greg (5/5): -
- Glen (9/5): - The bed was comfortable More than just a bed, even a shelf to put thing on would be good.
- Nada..3003 (9/5): Great clean room for a quick stay - The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and was exactly what we needed for a one night stay. The laundry facilities were good and I was able to get my washing and drying done.
The pub across the road was handy for dinner, only two sittings 5.45pm and 7 pm. Make sure you book a table. N/A
- Ash (5/5): Disappointed with lack of amenities such as a camp kitchen. Very expensive for what was provided. -
- Linda (4/5): Very basic but convenient. - Close to pub and airfield Poor facilities, not even tea/coffee making. No BBQ, room dirty, aircon broken. Not a lot of choice at William Creek!
- Yolinda (8/5): -
- Chris (8/5): -
- Robert (8/5): -
- Crocker (4/5): -
- Megan (10/5): There is something very special about William Creek. A must do for the outback enthusiast. - William creek has a brilliant ambience. I stayed in a small single worker’s type room with an ensuite. The little desk looked at the very cute white painted corrugated iron building next door. Pub dinners there were the highlight of my 8 day trip in SA. I loved it.
- Tara (7/5): -
- brutus_the_warrior (7/5): -
- Diana (3/5): Disappointed - William creek an interesting place, but very remote. Csmpers coming and going all the time.
The pub the main focus, very jolly and reasonable food. Small room with double bed, no table, shelf, space to put bags, sit, or manage any food for ourselves. Donga style, though other rooms apparently bigger. Photos on website done make that clear
- Cate (6/5): -
- Camilia (10/5): -
- Lester (8/5): - What you get in the middle of nowhere Clean and out of the dust and wind
- Pat (7/5): A fantastic location but the accommodation needs maintenance - Location Aged accomodation with rotting floorboards
- Tania (9/5): Loved the stay and the pub - The location was great The sofa bed was the most uncomfortable mattress ever. It was like the mattress topper had been removed and you were laying on bars
- Colin (8/5): -
- Dene (9/5): good experience - n/a tv unit could have been larger /
- Patrick (4/5): Roughed it for a couple of days - It was very close to the airport Unfortunately it was a bit of a joke. All you will get is a very disappointed bed nothing else no camp kitchen, shared shower and toilets which you share with all other campers.
- chris (3/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): Great food, service and atmosphere!! - The hotel is great - food, service and atmosphere. We stayed in a double unit that advertised private outside bathroom. While we expected very basic accommodation, I think we expected the private bathroom to be a bit closer to the unit. Perhaps that needs to be made clearer in the promotional material. Getting up in the night to go to the toilet in the cold was challenging but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.
- Garry (8/5): -
- Kerry (6/5): Staff were very pleasant the room, though very basic was at least clean. - Very basic, small room. Couldn’t get an ensuite. Size of room and old fashioned. No facilities or decor. No camp kitchen. Nowhere to make a cup of tea or coffee.
- Eliza (7/5): -
- Linda (9/5): - Comfortable beds. Reverse cycle air conditioning in the cabins All good. Had everything we needed.
The bar needed more than one eftpos terminal
- Louise (6/5): -
- Herbert (9/5): -
- Malcolm S (8/5): -
- Lorraine (7/5): - It was very comfortable and very welcoming Nothing really
- Shawn (10/5): -
- NOEL VINCENT (9/5): A brilliant visit with my brother and mates for a major milestone - What a place, the true outback with real people, all the Staff at William Creek Hotel were 1st Class. A must visit iconic location. No complaints
- chris (8/5): - Location to the public and airstrip
- Nick (9/5): Attached to a great pub ! - Convenient, easy going, attached to pub !!
- msdcairns (8/5): Best place to stay to visit Lake Eyre. Take a flight! - Camel Hut was the best place to stay. Full kitchen and space to move. Was set apart from the main camping ground. Pub was extremely expensive and crowded.
