Guest Reviews
- Reginald (Reg) (5/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly. The pub was very pleasant, good beer and pleasant menu. Room was very dirty, had not been properly cleaned including dirty cups from previous occupants. Room was very dirty, had not been properly cleaned including dirty cups from previous occupants still in room. Room was also very cold, gaps between door and frame with cold air rushing in, heating not on - probably the worst room I have stayed in having visited over 50 countries. Pity because there is great potential.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Ball (8/5): - It was a very clean room with a good shower and the booking in was simple and I was shown to my room quite quickly. I was only there one night but I didn't have or see anything bad to report
- Victoria (3/5): A tired hotel with potential, poor value for money. - The easy check in and out The room was tired and very dusty. There was dust all over the hangers and shelving. There were cobwebs in the room and the mirrors weren’t clean. The towels smelt of food/fat. We were expecting a fridge in the room, the details and photographs didn’t match the hotel.
- Lawrence (8/5): -
- Louise (5/5): Awful now. - Location good. Nice room but filthy. Used to be a great place to stay and eat but now it’s gone down hill. Very rude proprietors who clearly don’t appreciate being told their rooms are filthy.
I’ll never visit or stay again. Sad after having been a regular for over 20 years.
- Clarke (6/5): Great stay - The hosts lan juilie were lovly very kind down to earth very good being hotelers eve meal was excellent one best meals ever The younger staff need bit traing and experience with guests the place just need a little tlc maybe a housekeeper to keep top of housekeeping in whole hotel and fixing few probs in room and toilets but the host made up for this in the freindless and kindest we really liked them 😀 but overall was very goid pleanst stay we deffo stay againe
- Resek (1/5): A complete dive and a rubbish nights sleep. - Car park was near the room. Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing due to the poor condition and cleanliness of the room.
There were dead insects across the bathroom ceiling and even inside the light fitting above the sink. The bedroom ceiling had visible mould, and there were noticeable stains on the bedroom floor.
The mattress was far beyond its usable life, heavily dipped on both sides where people had previously slept. It was extremely uncomfortable, offered no support, and felt decades old.
Throughout the entire night there was a constant, loud droning noise coming from outside the window, likely from building equipment, which made it very difficult to sleep.
When we raised these issues with the owner and requested a refund for the following night, we were met with rudeness and an argumentative response, which only added to an already unpleasant experience.
- Brian (3/5): - Water was very hot and plentiful and the bed was comfy. The pub is in a very quiet location so we slept well. Having stayed at a fabulous pub/restaurant with beautiful rooms in Boscombe on Good Friday evening, we decided, on the spur of the moment, to stay an extra night.
Sadly they were fully booked, so we had a look for somewhere else to stay on Easter Saturday night.
It was a last minute booking, but we found 'The Fisherman's Haunt' had availability so we booked it.
Sadly the room was very tired & neglected despite being described as a 'Deluxe Double'. The previous occupants damp towels were still hanging up behind the bathroom door & all surfaces were covered in dust (including the kettle) which was still filled with water & badly needed descaling.
We had been out walking Hengistbury Head & the New Forest and were hungry so decided to eat in the pubs restaurant in the evening. The atmosphere was very underwhelming, it wasn't busy and it was cold. We both ate our food wearing our coats & scarves.
The food was okay & was at least hot, but came in very small portions, so we ordered desserts as we were still hungry. Again tiny portions, and expensive for what they were.
A table of 3 adults came in after us and their order was wrong when it arrived & had to be rectified.
We left early in the morning and didn't bother with breakfast.
In summary it was a very disappointing stay
- Joe (10/5): - New landlords are amazing! Food is exceptional. Worth a visit.
- carlc447 (2/5): Very disappointed stay and fragmented service - Good afternoon
Reminder of confirmation of sent email pending response for our partial stay yesterday.
I would like to raise concerns on my stay and my experience on eating at the establishment.
Arrived to be booked in, which took 30 minutes
Was taken to room
Once left in room it was established that toilet was not flushed, no toilet roll.
Counter with coffee etc was not cleaned or even replenished.
"Manager" was informed of our concerns, he went to address.
We were at that point frustrated, we just wanted to eat earlier, two dishes ordered were not available after ordering was accepted.
We did not enjoy the food as we was so annoyed by the customer service, and failure of ordering food.
Food was very expensive for what was delivered.
We was going to stay and do pub quiz, however we were not in the mood by this point.
We was offered no goodwill gesture at any point.
We left pub earlier than planned, returned to room.
We then noted STILL no toilet paper! My wife had to go back to pub twice, to ask again for toilet roll, and to go bank to be refunded for a meal we was not given. No sorry or good will gesture at this point.
I could pick many faults in the room, however the experience superceded this stay.
Please note we noted the heating was substandard, it was freezing during night, we did not want to mention this at that point, as we had been up and down the stairs all night dealing with your failures.
We expirenced a lot of noise transferred from neighbours room which added to our stress at around 12am-2am
We left early and went home due to being cold and lack of sleep.
We was planning on having breakfast but as you could imagine this was binned off as we did not want to experience more discrepancies. We planned on going onto to the Christchurch coast, this was cancelled due to lack of comfortable sleep.
I would like to express huge disappointment in our stay and dining experience.
I leave it with you to take in this feedback and complaint and to possibly reimburse us.
I will await a response on this before looking at escalating.
I look forward to a swift response and resolve here.
- Gemma (8/5): - The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
- M6083BVneile (10/5): Excellent - Having had an extended stay, I found the whole experience superb. The hosts Ian and Julie were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent and very warm.
Having tried most of the menu everything was above par, steak night on a Thursday was superb value at £12.50!!!. Breakfast I have to say was as good as it gets.
Overall I can say I would recommend a visit or a stay here
- Beale4961 (2/5): Disappointing new management - Following a couple of great lunch experiences here last summer, we decided to return for a meal. The barman was very chatty and lovely person, and we learned the pub had been under new management since last October. We ordered fish and chips, and were extremely disappointed when our food arrived, the worst being the very well overcooked oily chips. They simply should never have come out the kitchen like that, leave alone served by the waiting staff, but particularly as we are paying a premium price to dine out. Whilst the barman did change them and the replacement were better, the standard of food was still generally poor. On top of this, we felt very disappointed by the landlady's attitude when I ordered another drink due to the delay, only to be told this is why we should have left the bar bill open so she would have avoided having two transaction charges. We found this to have been totally unnecessary, disrespectful and rude to our custom.
- niall (10/5): -
- Paul (2/5): Wildly overpriced for the quality of the room and the service. - The owners and the guy that was working when I was there were really nice. 1. The images online make it look as though the hotel looks across gardens and a beautiful patio. In reality every window of the room looked directly out onto the carpark. You couldn't have the curtains or blinds open and when the pub customers left at night all of the cars went around two sides of the room which was really noisy and disturbing.
2. On the first night there were no towels in the room and some strange items left there by previous guests (a holdall, some cabling). On the second night the towel smelt so strongly of something like fried food it was truly grim. I don't think I have ever had to ask for towels, or to change towels, in a hotel in my life.
3. There was no cleaning on the first day - another first for a hotel. The bed was made but nothing was actually cleaned - not the bathroom, not the bedroom.
4. The room was really cold.
5. The noise travels flawlessly from the room above even just footsteps, running water etc.
- amycM4308IJ (10/5): Great place for a bit of food and lovely atmosphere. - Had a lovely meal here with a friend before their monthly quiz night. Really sweet and obliging staff, good pace of service, tasty food, lovely atmosphere, and the quiz was great fun, mixed difficulty so was a nice challenge. Would highly recommend if in the area.
- 353lizzieh (10/5): Fab dinner and quiz night! - Went for a Friday night meal with a friend, I had the sausage and mash which was absolutely delicious!
We were served by a polite and lovely waitress who made sure we had everything we wanted.
The cherry on top of the evening was the quiz which we will definitely be back for next month!
- samjG6545AH (2/5): Pricing issues and rude manager - Stayed here for 2 nights in May 2025. My terminally ill stepfather was in hospital nearby. Initially booked via booking.com then called directly to add another room also for 2 nights for our friends to stay too. Manager (Neil I think) said to book with directly as it would be cheaper than going through booking.com. On arrival we were charged almost £200 per room per night for the additional booking. I queried this as it was higher than the rate still being advertised on booking.com and he said he would look into it and come back to us. He didn’t so I followed up with an email. They were not interested. The rooms are pleasant but very small and certainly not worth almost £200 per night. So if you do want to stay here book via booking.com and hopefully that guy doesn’t work here anymore. There were other reviews around this time about pricing issues.
- cjw0 (10/5): Tasty burgers! - The burgers were good, the pub was cosy and the staff were friendly and gave great service. The toillets were very clean too!
- wizzbuff (6/5): Disappointing - Stopped in for lunch with a family group. We were the only people there - it took over an hour to get our food and 3 of the orders were not right when they finally arrived and 2 were overcooked. Wouldn’t bother again
- eat0uta (2/5): Very disappointing experience. - The meal itself was a let-down, but what really spoiled the visit was the attitude from management. Honest, constructive feedback clearly wasn’t welcome, and the response came across as rude and defensive.
I actually felt sorry for the staff on shift — they were put in an awkward position and it’s obvious the issues aren’t of their making. This feels like a management problem rather than a frontline one.
Overall, everything fell well below expectations. I’d strongly suggest Fullers step in and address what’s going on here — and quickly — as the current management approach is doing the place no favours.
- Bruce (10/5): -
- adam (8/5): Short but sweet. - We didn’t really experience too much as we were going elsewhere for a family do. However it was neat tidy clean and there was a nice atmosphere when we arrived. Clean and comfortable and the Staff were really nice in the morning.
- Jill (3/5): Sadly disappointing - I have stayed there 20 or 30 times in the past and always loved it before - The room and the bed were very comfortable and there was a useful kettle and biscuits provided
The room was very nicely decorated
Apart from the minimal choice I enjoyed the evening meal which was served in a pleasant dining area There was no heating in the room despite the very cold nights during my stay at the end of September, and the room was very chilly, especially as the cleaner left the window open - maybe the heating goes on in October?
I stayed for 2 nights and there was no hot water on the second morning - as there was absolutely no-one about and the main hotel was locked I was unable to report the issue before I left - at the age of 80 I no longer relish the idea of a cold shower so remained unwashed!
Also as there was no-one about, it was unclear where to leave my key so I left it in the door of my room
- Kevin (10/5): Totally brilliant - No breakfast which we were informed about Not a lot staff were brilliant food was great and facilities were great
- Elizabeth (5/5): OK is all I can say have stayed in a lot better place so will not be returning there. - The bathroom was nice good shower. Room very small and outdated I'm 5'3 and bed had a iron foot rest my partner is 5'9 so feet keep't hitting the iron bed end was advertised as large double but I would say it's not large no soundproofing as advertised you can hear everything from outside to inside.
- Francesca (10/5): Perfect affair destination - It was lovely to have a affair in this property. Staff was spot on and room perfect.
Me and my secret man enjoyed our stay Nothing at all
- norman (8/5): Relaxing couple of days made easy by the staff and location as we like the breeches near by. - No breakfast but you can get a continental bag you need to arsk reception Nothing not to like budget location food and drinks all very good
- diana (8/5): Affordable, friendly, clean and cosy. - Tasteful, cosy, dog friendly.
- ADRIAN (10/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): - Convenient location The change for my small dogs was very high with nothing provided for the additional fee. The room was noisy from the occupants inthe room above
- sallyjJ2714VV (10/5): The best Sunday lunch I’ve had! Friendly staff, great service. - We haven’t been to the fisherman’s haunt in years and today popped in for an impromptu a bite to eat.
And what can I say but wow! We only wanted a light bite, however as it was Sunday we had a small Sunday lunch. The flavour was amazing! We had roast beef..
Cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were amazing too. By far one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had in a very long time.
The staff were attentive and friendly.
Very customer focussed and high quality food.
Thank you Harry and Steve for great service.
Can highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.
- lindanT7383AR (10/5): Fabulous stay with exception staff - Fabulous stay. Beautiful little village right on the New Forest and close to many places of interest The hospitality by the staff was incredible. They made sure we had everything we needed. Catered to our every need with a smile Fantastic atmosphere with a singer on one evening The rooms were beautifully set out and were immaculately clean very comfortable bed Food was incredible with a full English breakfast that was amazing. Excellent value. We would definitely stay again and as it is so near Bournemouth airport we asked about staying the night before our flight and parking the car there. It worked out it would be cheaper than parking at the airport
- Lyndixie (10/5): Delicious food and fantastic service - We visited the fisherman’s haunt for a Sunday roast with family.
The welcome and service were excellent and the food was hot and delicious.
The atmosphere of this beautiful pub is cosy, especially if sitting by the open fire.
There are plenty of choices on the menu if you don’t fancy a roast on Sunday.
Looking forward to trying their pie night 😊
- vikkis2022 (6/5): Disappointing - When we arrived it felt really cold inside. . It was extreky cold outside that day and they do have an open fire but it was not lit. After about 20 mins we asked if they could light the fire as we were all cold, which they did, but also said the heating was on and that it was cold because it was 12 noon and the pub was not full of people to keep it warm, which I found a bit of a strange thing to say. We were also disappointed with the food this time. The mussels and the ham egg and chips were nice but two of us had the scampi and both remarked it was overcooked and quite watery. The festive turkey sandwich was chewy, like it wad overcooked and a bit gristly also. Whilst the staff were friendly, I found them a little abrupt and not as warm and welcoming as the previous owners im afraid. Its a shame as we have been going there for years but im not sure id be happy to go back again now its changed hands.
- Truds17 (10/5): Lovely pub, great food and company - Under new management from October 2025, the 'Fish' is a lovely, authentic village pub with fab hosts, Julie and Ian.
We booked a table for a mid-week dinner, to try out their new menu.
Harry served us Ribeye steak, cooked to perfection by Chef Malcom, followed by the scrummy Irish Cream Torte. At the moment the offer is dinner with either a glass of wine or a pint so good value too.
Wait time as expected for freshly cooked food, not too fast, not too slow.
Couldn't fault the service, food, atmosphere or surroundings. We will return!
- Paula (6/5): Cold - The breakfast and service Being cold
- Brenda (5/5): Alarming as no staff available at all. Promises were broken over use of toilet facilities prior to our sons wedding. - No staff available
Even though I spoke to someone over the phone a week before, no notes were made of our conversation.
- SMW (7/5): Did the job, good effort from staff. Beds could be improved - Nicely decorated rooms, plenty of space, some thoughtful touches and good standard of cleanliness The zipped together single beds that formed the double were not comfortable after a couple of nights
- Mary (9/5): -
- Sarah (6/5): - Good location Noisy room. Charged heavily for dogs but no value given
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Linda (9/5): - Staff were so obliging and friendly. Food excellent value. Rooms clean and comfortable.
- Elena (8/5): Lovely country pub rooms - The location for Sopley Mill weddings is fab.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower was clean, the water hot and good pressure.
It is nicely decorated and was a good sized room.
We opted to have breakfast the next morning which was tasty.
We liked that the rooms are in a separate coach house from the pub, with it's own entrance. We heard the next morning that there has been a recent change in ownership which made some sense. We didn't dislike anything, but just some information conflicted from the listing on here and with the automatic replies. It didn't affect our stay in the slightest and we wouldn't hesitate to return.
Whilst the breakfast was lovely, it would be nice to have a lighter option as well as full English.
Thanks for a lovely stay.
- Judith (10/5): Excellent weekend at fisherman's haunt - Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Room clean, bed so comfy and linen so soft.
We were on ground floor which was excellent as we had two dogs with us.
- Rachel (8/5): Nice room. No breakfast option. - Room itself was very comfortable, and clean. Very good sized room. Plenty of tea/coffee supplied and of good quality. On the website it is advertised as including breakfast. It does not and there is no breakfast offered- you are given a list of suggested local cafes. You only receive an email informing you of this after booking. This meant that other b&bs/ hotels locally would have been better value for money. I think the listing on booking.com needs updating to reflect this. Aside from this, no issues with the room itself.
- Catherine (7/5): Great location. Lovely staff. Clean and comfy. - Closer to family Snoring person in the room below!!
- paulamargaretd (6/5): Went for lunch . - Under new management
Menu was not inviting we had 2 baguettes very dry and not nice to eat .we were asked if everything was OK but we're embarrassed to say anything eles .the menu before was good for lunch times .such a shame
- Rosalie (10/5): Lovely room - Very nice room with iron and ironing board. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Good parking and walking distance home from wedding at Sopley Mill
- David (8/5): - Parking was fine
- Rachael (8/5): - Didn't serve breakfast
- jacqueline (10/5): Nice room with plenty of parking - Loads of parking. We had a Ground floor room which was very large and quiet. We booked last minute over the August bank holiday so it wasn’t cheap and the pub doesn’t serve breakfast. Manager is really helpful and nice pub. Very near the New Forest for walks. Would only suggest for the price would have expected some additional toiletries
- margaret (1/5): Disappointing and v expensive - It was near family who we were visiting Extortionately expensive - £200 for night- described as deluxe room but v shabby - had to clean toilet before using shabby paintwork and handle on inside of bathroom falling off - table lamp didn’t work and bar shut at 9pm on a Friday - no breakfast either
Don’t book through booking .com go to website
Although I wouldn’t recommend staying for all the reasons above
- Ann-Marie (8/5): -
- Verna (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Mark (10/5): - We were late arriving and the key was left out for us. Thank you
- Paul (10/5): Great stay - Great staff, very helpful - Great accommodation.
- Eugene (10/5): A memorable and romantic stay with exceptional touches that made us feel truly valued. - I stayed here with my partner for our 2nd anniversary and we were blown away by the warm hospitality. The staff left us a thoughtful gift of sparkling wine which made our arrival feel so special. The room itself was beautifully presented, spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The character of the hotel and the attention to detail really stood out. The pub was also great Nothing major, we had a fantastic experience overall
- geronimo16 (4/5): Poor Customer Attitude - Stopped for Sunday lunch while in the New Forest area.
When ordering one of our party for dietary reasons requested a separate portion of chicken but this apparently couldn’t be accommodated - for any amount of money!
There are plenty of food focused pubs in this area so we decided to pay for our pre-lunch drinks and take our dining custom where it would be better appreciated. This turned out to be The Bear at Burton where indeed the service was far better and food excellent.
- Stephan (9/5): - Sehr gepflegte und saubere Zimmer, die Küche ist Bodenständig und sehr zu empfehlen.
Top Service
- Aleksander (7/5): Pleasant hotel - The hotel and pub are very conveniently located for Christchurch and all of its amenities. The room was in a separate building to the pub, so there was no noise from patrons. The room itself was pleasant and clean, as was the bathroom. The walls are thin so you can hear other guests if they play music at even a slightly elevated volume or are coming back to rooms. Only an issue if you’re a very light sleeper.
- Joy (7/5): Good - Good location and facilities Would have been nice to have breakfast! I had originally booked thinking it was included
- Tim (10/5): -
- SammieP (8/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Raza (10/5): -
- Simon (7/5): Nice place to stay for the night - The rooms were in little blocks separate to the pub. The room was well equipped and a good size for our stay. The shower was nice, the bed was comfortable and the tea/coffee making facilities were good quality. The pub itself was nice - a quiet country pub with plenty of parking. The rooms were not very sound proof. You could hear parts of the conversations of the people in the block (below us I think). It was a warm night and day and we would have liked to open the windows. The two that opened could only be opened partially for safety reasons. Unfortunately, this didn't help with air flow. Also, we were advised not to keep windows open at night due to being near water and there being midges around. It was a bit of a warm night!
- Ricky (10/5): -
- julie (8/5): -
- miriam (8/5): - It would have been nice if they had served breakfast
- Andy (6/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful.
Disappointed to find the restaurant closed at 8 pm and the bar at 9. After a very long day at work and drive down, arriving at 7.30 I felt I wanted time to relax and enjoy a beer rather than be rushed in and out. The food I did have was fairly mediocre. Clearly just reheated, I could have got a microwave meal on the way down which could have been nicer! Fairly expensive too - (compared to what I would expect to pay back up in the north anyway).
Very disappointingly breakfast is not provided. this is actually made clear in the bumph provided, but they quote some weird government legislation that prevents them doing breakfast! Odd...
Rooms were fine, quite nice but nothing special so glad I a better rate through Expedia. Wall paper peeling off in my room. But a fan was provided for some of the hottest days of the year which was good.
Tea and coffee as normal - no biscuits on the first day! Just one pack of two on the second .. Come on!
It is a nice place in a nice area, nothing special it has to be said. The advertising and website implies it is more upmarket than it turned out to be.
All in all, Yes, fine, but average, verging on the disappointing.
Just a point about breakfast. I travel a lot and I find some places now do a buffet style breakfast, with cereals,, toast/croissants etc left out. Milk, fruit juice and some yoghurts etc available in a fridge for customers to help themselves, very cheap and easy to do. Makes all the differenc
- Jayne (3/5): Disappointing - Allows dogs which is great and had a few dog treats ready in the room. Food was great when it was available. My husband and I booked this stay just to get away for a few days and after seeing this venue on booking.com and then finding the website online we thought it would be the perfect place to chill and have a few drinks each evening. Unfortunately they missed the mark on quite a few things. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady who checked us in quickly and showed us to our room and notified us that food was served between 6-9pm I did let her know I had booked a table for that evening but it was good to know times anyway.
On day one the room was fine but after a long walk, dinner and coming back to the room, we found that it was incredibly hot in the room and the window did not open, there was a fan in the cupboard however that didn’t work, as the pub shut at 9 there was no one around to ask for a new one. The shower was great however as the window pane wasn’t very long it did mean that everything in the shower room did get wet as there was no filtration and the window opened onto a pathway that people could look into which meant we couldn’t leave it open during a shower. After a very uncomfortable nights sleep the cleaners the next morning were incredibly loud and woke us up early, so we got up and went out for the day. After a long day of events we decided to head back and grab a late dinner before having an early night, however when we got back to the pub, at 7:45/8pm we were told that the kitchen was now closed however we could try other pubs or there was a big Sainsbury’s that would be open. We ended up having a Sainsbury’s meal deal and spending the evening having drinks in an amazing pub around the corner called the lamb who were wonderful and I would highly recommend. After another very uncomfortable sleep, we were once again woken up by the cleaners and decided to just head out again. After a day spent with family in the area we found great places to eat lunch and dinner locally and have a drink before heading back.

- Caroline (8/5): Very comfortable stay - Very clean and comfortable room in a nice location. A small thing but you can hear some noise from other guests as they come and go from their rooms due to the echoing on the inside stair area. Only a problem. If you are a light sleeper and like to go to sleep early.
- Emma (8/5): - The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
The room was spacious and decor attractive.

- Q3341GMrachelc (10/5): Amazing - Popped out Sunday afternoon, didn't want to cook today .had rough experiences recently so was nervous, I had pork belly roast was delicious even though I couldn't finish all my partner who is 59 and been a chef from.tge age of 15 when he started training in London years ago .anyway we'll done fishermans haunt
- Steve (6/5): - Bedroom overlooked the kitchen and extensive extraction system. An eyesore and nuisance when you’re looking for a nice night away.
- grahamwright21 (4/5): Another awful place - Oh dear,We thought we would try out the food as we hadn’t been there for years.Fish pie for the wife and steak and ale pie for me.Fish pie has to have fish in it but not here or very very little and no sauce, just potatoes. My steak and ale pie was great lots of meat but the mash was awful,we were one of the first into the restaurant and trust me we were eating up the warmed up left overs from the lunch. Its no surprise that pubs are closing down at such a rate when they dish up such awful food and charge you a service charge on top.I say goodbye pubs you brought it on yourselves.Have you noticed the management never answer negative feedback it’s like they know and don’t care.

- John & Sarah Betts (5/5): Lack of Breakfast facilities would influence our decision to return - Staff provided good customer servicer. Room clean and well equipped with good standard linen. On site parking No Breakfast Facility.
- Natalie (1/5): Stay was ruined by the second night and lack of acknowledgement - The room was spacious and clean, suitable for anyone travelling with a dog. The Hotel was also in a great location, just a short drive from main areas. - On arrival we "checked in" which consisted of being shown to our room and the key being left on the side with no information being given to us, just a simple "there's your key" as it was put down.
- We booked based on pets being allowed and requested a dog friendly room, to which we were told on arrival there was a £10 charge for this, to then have it changed to £10 per night when payment was taken. I was told £10 fee and then asked how many nights we were staying, the amount was changed without confirmation it was per night fee. Obviously we paid this as the dog was with us, but again a lack of information.
- We weren't informed of any health and safety EG fire escape routes or room cleaning information and windows only opened a small amount due to the building being old- we understand this couldn't be helped.
- On our second/final night, guests in the room above arrived back at 1am making a lot of noise, shouting aggressively and swearing until 7am in the morning. All of this could be heard from our room below, despite having turned the tv on in an attempt to drown out the sound, with no success. This resulted in an unsettled dog for the entire night and no sleep, which with being pregnant and having a long drive back later that evening, was far from ideal. We had to report this via booking.com chat as there was nobody on site for check out. To which I was sent an invoice for our stay and had to prompt for a response on the issue, we were then made aware that they knew there was a problematic guests and nobody check in with us regarding this incident until raised ourselves. We were told we should've used the emergency contact number however, we were never made aware of this or where to find it upon check in. Within the response the concern seemed to lie more with the damage to the room than anything, despite myself being a more vulnerable person.
