- Cruiser40601435304 (10/5): Great couples retreat - Thank you Bianca and all your team for an amazing stay. Nothing was too much trouble so please extend our gratitude to all kitchen and serving staff and to Ronnie James and Princess for serving us too many Rum punches. Also grateful for the tip to spend an afternoon at Tiki beach bar Barbados before flight home.
- Travel676030 (10/5): Wonderful experience - Myself & my partner have just returned from a wonderful week at Young Island, when we arrived we were immediately upgraded to a fantastic Villa at the top of the Island as they found out it was my birthday, on my actual birthday they made a real fuss of me, all the staff were fantastic and Bianca is a very ‘hands on’ manager who all the staff respect & was always around checking everyone were enjoying themselves. The food was excellent and the staff could not do enough for you, especially Christina & Neal, Josh, James & Ronnie were great on the bar & made the best cocktails, Princess was always happy & welcoming at the Bar just off the beach. I must also mention Chantell in the Spa where I had an amazing facial & body massage. If you are looking for paradise to unwind & recharge for a while this is definitely the place to go. We will definitely be back.

- L9280WKrichardt (10/5): Just Wonderful - Go! - My wife and I loved our 7 days on Young Island. We stayed at the top of the island in one of the bigger cottages with its own plunge pool. The view was stunning and the with the wind blowing through the slatted walls the simple and well kept interior was perfect. Fresh flowers in the rooms was a great touch. Every day we spotted new birds and our favourite was a hummingbird that would feed around the pool whilst we were in it. The chorus of tree frogs at night was great fun.
All the staff were first class from the waiting staff, taxi boat guys and housekeepers, plus of course the management team. Nothing was too much and all delivered in a friendly laid back but efficient Caribbean style.
The reception desk organised taxis to Kingstown and a hire car at the end of the week too. And they send you to Dive ST Vincent over the bay quite rightly for a brilliant scuba diving experience.
We went all inclusive and I would advise the same. Finding food off site is not easy. St Vincent is not geared up yet to deal with tourists looking for long lazy lunches or indeed quick take away snacks. At the resort you’ll have more food than you can eat and all delicious.
If you’re after big brand slick high fashion trendy cool spot - not for you. Young Island is about genuine care for their guests, a timeless Caribbean hospitality driven by the most polite service you could ever wish for all in a wildlife filled jungle island setting. We met people who had been going for years, it’s like a secret you don’t want everyone to find and can’t keep away from. Total bliss. Thank you Young Island.
- elicO229GF (10/5): One of the best resorts on Earth - Amazing staff, service, views and food!
Young island is a resort like no other - you’ll be blown away by the kitchen and food. The staff treats you like you are family and staying at their private island. It’s the best resort in St Vincent by far - and one of the best on planet earth.
Definitely going to visit again.
- onikac2026 (2/5): Terrible - I recently stayed at this resort and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience considering the fact that we are locals. From the moment of arrival, the service felt disorganized and unwelcoming. Check-in was slow, and staff did not seem attentive or concerned about guest comfort.
The room itself was below expectations. It was not properly cleaned, maintenance issues were noticeable. For the price paid, I expected a much higher standard of quality and attention to detail. However we went out for dinner off the island upon returning to our room at 12.04am our bathroom door that connects to the outside shower was left open that was honestly disappointing considering the fact that I tried calling front desk however there was no one on duty.
Dining was equally underwhelming. We were told that my partner couldn’t eat in the restaurant as he was wearing a vest however looking over a guest was in something similar to what my partner was told he can’t wear in the dining area. I then ask the server what’s the difference is it because he is a different color than us?
Overall, this resort did not meet the standards it advertises. I would not recommend it based on my experience and hope management takes meaningful steps to improve service, cleanliness, and overall guest satisfaction. AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY DOESN’T MATTER WHERE YOU ARE FROM.
- HaleF643 (10/5): Delicious Four course meal in a wonderful setting along the blue lagoon - Beautiful spot where you eat outdoors and have a choice of appetizers main course and dessert with Service to match. The chicken with cream sauce was excellent. The tuna had a nice sauce, but it was overcooked as I prefer it rare.
This is a fixed price restaurant . We were on a boat, but if you’re sure the resort has a water taxi, they’ll take you to the island. It’s price compared to the other local restaurants.
- theworldaw8s (10/5): Paradise Found - This was a perfect stop on St. Vincent. Close to the airport and the only place that feels like an island from what we saw. They upgraded us to a villa with a private pool and an amazing view. Could not rave more about the space! Food was really great and prices for drinks were decent considering it’s an island off an island. A bit of a challenge to venture away for dinner but if you want a couple days in paradise do not hesitate!
- bumbum65 (8/5): Relaxing with friendly staff - The resort is charming with a relaxing atmosphere. Bianca and her staff go out of their way to make sure your every need is tended to, special thank you to Vashty.
- GILLBUCKS (10/5): Relaxation in abundance - We have just returned from a wonderful 11 days at Young Island on the recommendation of friends. Originally booked a Superior cottage but Bianca gave us complementary upgrade to a Luxury suite with plunge pool No 10 for 7 nights and then a Deluxe cottage No 9 for the other 4 days. We noticed that the superior cottages by the beach were being refurbished but this did not cause any disturbances.
The food was excellent every day, no buffet thankfully. All the staff in the restaurant went above and beyond. They even brought food to me at our cottage when I was under the weather for a couple of days. Thanks for that.
I wanted to add that the bar staff were always good humoured , always served us with a smile. and able to chat when not busy. The resort has a lot of day visitors and the staff were very busy, one day visitors from a cruise ship arrived and my husband chatted to them though his German is limited!!
The staff were all wonderful and could not do enough for us. My husband brought his fishing rod with him and went fishing three nights with Lennox who does the ferry from Sunset Point, off the jetty and the beach. He did catch quite a few fish. He needed to get some weights and hooks and he asked about getting these from the mainland but the lovely Silvan got them for him. Now that is service.
Finally we want to thank everyone from Bianca to the gardeners and the ferry guys. Thanks especially to Bianca, Neal, James, Ronny, Josh and Princess and last but not least the lovely Lennox.
We will be back

- tikihutmom (10/5): 🏝️ Island Time at its Best 🏝️ - We recently spent a few relaxing days on Young Island, and over it was a unique and beautiful Caribbean experience — rustic, charming, and just the right kind of laid-back.
⛴️ Getting There:
Super easy! The boat transfer was less than 2 minutes — blink and you're there. Quick, smooth, and stress-free. It is about 20 minutes from the airport.
🏝️ Arrival Vibes:
We arrived on a Sunday at noon, right in the middle of a bustling Sunday lunch buffet. It was definitely hectic and crowded, so if you're looking for a calm first impression, maybe aim to arrive earlier or later on Sundays.
💥 Noise:
Heads up — there was loud music pumping from a bar/restaurant across the water until 4 AM. It was only that one night, but light sleepers, bring earplugs just in case!
🏝️ The Beach & Pool:
The beach was lovely, with clear water and always plenty of chairs available. The sand is more pebbly than powdery, so you’ll sink in a bit when entering the water, but still beautiful. The in-water bar wasn’t open during our stay (likely due to slow season), which was a bummer. BUT the lagoon-style pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens totally made up for it — absolutely gorgeous and super relaxing.
🍹 Food & Drinks:
Breakfast was included and delicious every morning. Definitely try the West Indian breakfast with fresh fish — so good! One day it included breadfruit which was a treat. Dinner was a 4-course experience that changed nightly and was very tasty, though a bit much for us (and at $70 per person, kind of pricey). The homemade bread selection is amazing. Luckily, you can order off the bar menu if you don’t want to do the 4 course meal — we had an amazing fish sandwich, and even saw the fisherman bringing in fresh catch! There are several restaurants across the water also.
🇻🇨 Service & Staff:
The bartenders were awesome — super friendly, skilled, and always ready with a smile. Shout out to James who always greeted us with some peanuts, Neil who made an awesome Martini, Josh, Ronny and Princess. Great island energy all around.
🛏️ Rooms (Cottages):
We stayed in Cottage 9 first. A rustic Caribbean-style cottage with AC, a private patio, and a heavenly outdoor shower. Loved starting our mornings with room service coffee and fresh bread on the patio. Our AC had issues that couldn’t be fixed, but the staff was great about moving us — and we ended up in cottage 6 with a private plunge pool, which was amazing. Highly recommend this cottage. Honestly, wish we had booked that from the start! The cottages up on the hill look amazing but be prepared for lots of steps.
🌟 Overall:
Young Island has a real castaway-chic vibe — not fancy, but full of character, friendly faces, and natural beauty. We left feeling refreshed and already dreaming about our next trip with that plunge pool!
🚕 Private Driver:
If you want to explore the island or need airport pickup I highly recommend Desci’s Taxi & Tours. You can find her on Instagram and Facebook.
- Kolawole (8/5): - Very relaxing. Note there are no TVs in the rooms
- Raywattie (2/5): - The island is truly beautiful and offers a peaceful, scenic escape. The cabins are private and quiet, though they are located on a hillside with many steps, which might be challenging for some guests.
During my stay, I found the dining experience inconsistent. Some staff interactions felt less welcoming than expected, and service tended to be slow. Food is on the expensive side, so guests may wish to plan accordingly.
It’s important to note that the property has a policy against visitors for paying guests, and staff leave for the evening around 10:30 PM, so there is no on-site assistance for emergencies overnight.
With some improvements in service, accessibility, and guest flexibility, this could be a truly exceptional destination.
- jalousiegirl (6/5): Below our expectations sadly - Cons:- broken glass, wine glasses, litter on beach
Loud music three evenings running 😴
Menu repetitive
Wildlife on island not as advertised
Coconut bar has very slippery steps
Parts of island need tidying
If you don’t like bats 🦇 be aware of where you dine
Pros:-
Food and drink pretty good
Staff very friendly
- mollie733 (4/5): Negative experience - I visited Young Island today for their Sunday buffet lunch. Upon arrival we were given no clear instruction about how lunch worked. We noticed other groups being seated but no one came to attend to ourselves, with very slow waits for drinks service.
Food variety was good with access to breads, sides and meats. However I was appalled to find a stone in a slice of bread I was eating that I chewed down on. I immediately took it to a member of staff who apologised but no further action was taken.
Upon receiving the bill, I complained again about the stone and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I was finally offered a 10% discount however the staff were not helpful and were very unprofessional in dealing with my complaint.
Overall a negative experience on what could have been a lovely day for myself and my friends visiting the island. Young Island Resort fell far short of our expectations.
- RhondaB11 (10/5): Simply the best place to stay when in SVG - My husband and I were fortunate enough to revisit this special island resort again this year when we spent a glorious 16 nights. This resort, expertly managed by the very hard working and personable manager, Bianca Porter is truly a special place to spend some time where you just slip into its calm and charming aura. We stayed this time in cottage no 11 which suited us perfectly; slightly elevated but conveniently located to the beach, bar and restaurant we spent many peaceful mornings and evenings enjoying the ambience from our patio. The cottage was very spacious with double bathroom sinks and a very refreshing outside shower!
The staff have to us become like dear friends or family who greet us so warmly and truly add to our stay and comfort. We enjoyed the lively discussions with the men operating the ferry who were always so helpful and efficient in all they do. I must give a special shout out to Hermus, Charles and Lennox.
The restaurant is always a pleasure with highly efficient and super friendly staff, delicious food and a spectacular setting to enjoy all meals.
For my husband and I Young Island is simply the best place to stay in St Vincent offering traditional Caribbean charm. I note at weekends the music booming across the water from the mainland but that is no reflection of Young Island who cannot be held responsible for that both with regard to the government’s seemingly relaxed laws in that regard as well as the fact that music will always travel across the water but for us it in no way discounts the comfort and experience had during our stay. So long as we can we will always aim to return to Young Island and are already planning our next visit!
- Alberto (10/5): - Excellent location, great people and service. The food at the restaurant is A
Everyone makes you feel welcomed and at home, like the surroundings and nature.
The rooms could take a bit of upgrading but I like this place just the way it is ;-)
- stephs41 (6/5): A lovely 11 night stay...however room for some improvement - We had a lovely stay at Young Island Resort, however there are improvements needed which would have made our trip better.
Upon arrival at the resort you take a short boat ride (under 5 minutes). The boat transfer is very easy and quick and the service is efficient. The only negative was the staff who operated the boat were not particularly friendly, which is a shame as this is the first impression you get of the resort.
On the upside, all other staff on the resort are lovely, and friendly always greeted us with a smile and said hello whenever they saw us. This includes gardeners and other staff working around the hotel. We also found staff on reception very useful for assisting with booking taxis, excursions.
We had a cottage which was right on the beach, with great views looking over the water. The cottage was a little dated as other reviews have noted. I personally quite liked the quaint traditional island style, however the cottage did need a little TLC, such as a new bathroom, new towels and paint to freshen it up. Despite this, the cottage was very clean.
As noted in other reviews, the noise from bars over the water can be heard until 4am on Friday's and Saturday's. We found that sleeping with earplugs and the aircon made a difference, and didn't find the noise too disturbing.
The gardens of the resort are well kept, and the beach was also looked after very well. We did not have any issues over sunbeds, which you can get at other resorts. There were always plenty of sunbeds at the beach and the pool. The beach can get busy when cruise ships come in, however the beach is segregated on these days to ensure hotel residents get use of the loungers.
The hotel pool was probably one of the nicest hotel pools I have used. The pool is like a lagoon surrounded by trees, and it's was lovely to relax in the pool area.
The hotel has a tennis court, however we were a little disappointed when we went to use it as the court has not been maintained properly and was not in great condition considering how well the the hotel grounds were kept. Furthermore, the tennis rackets in reception needed replacing with the ones we saw hanging up not having any grip. Therefore, we didn't play tennis as planned.
The food at the hotel was mostly good. Breakfasts and lunches were always good, however we found the evening meals could be hit and miss. There was lobster on the menu one evening and this was the best meal we had during our stay. We found the red meat choices were not always the best, with some of the meat being quite chewy/ fatty. The dinner menu changed every night to offer variety, however this could be improved by offering more choice of sides. Per evening you would only be offered rice and veg, and on another evening potato and veg. After 11 nights we found this a little repetitive. For example we found that and not all of the choices went with rice, but you were not able to change to potato.
There is a lot of attention to detail, and the service when bringing out food is very professional. Furthermore, a lot of locals dine at the Island which is a good sign.
The only other thing that could be improved is the drinks service during meals. The bar staff were great, and were very busy, but sometimes your drink order wouldn't be taken until you were on your first or second course. (It could just be how they do things) This could be improved by having bottles of house wines open in buckets (for all inclusive guests) to help speed up/ take pressure off of bar service.
The hotel itself is in a lovely setting and we had a relaxing stay. There is a good selection of drinks, and the staff were great. Overall, we had a lovely stay, but there are some small changes that could really improve the hotel. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 if this was an option
- Lavinia02 (4/5): Emperor’s Clothes - outdated and overpriced - On the plus side, the staff were all, without exception, exemplary - and the food was generally good
But sadly we won’t be tempted to return
And for a resort which charges USD $444 per night for the smallest room (with no sea view) - and USD $18.34 for a cheese sandwich, we were surprised to find ourselves having to use our own shampoo as shower gel !
This resort no doubt had its hey day back in the 70s - and it hasn’t changed since. The fittings were not only dated but in some instances potentially dangerous. For example the electrics have clearly been added on as and when required with no real planning - the ceiling lights (2 short fluorescent strips) were powered by a cable leading from a plug under the desk - and we had no phone. Fortunately the AC worked efficiently (and with no glass in the windows to exclude humidity, it was much needed)
The beach faces north with unexciting views of the mainland - and limited sunshine. It was extremely windy (the red flag was up permanently) and the entry to the sea was stony
The channel was choppy, so the swimming wasn’t great - and other guests warned us there were jellyfish and sea eels in the sea! (There were also snakes in the undergrowth in the upper part of the resort)
One end of the beach was crowded with cruise ship passengers resulting in the bar being rammed 2-3 times a week during the day
The noise from the main road opposite seemed to be amplified as it crossed the water. Sirens, horns, revving motorbikes and cars playing pounding music all sounded as though they were just a few yards away which didn’t allow for the tranquil paradise we’d been expecting
The pool area (while not large) offered more shelter from the wind - although the sunbeds always seemed to be damp!
We’d booked a superior beachfront cottage - but our accommodation was far from superior with a zero view of the sea. Our room was very compact to say the least (the bed & bedside cabinets formed the width of the room) with very dated fittings - and the fact there was no glass in the windows (only gauze) added to the noise problem. We also had to keep the shutters closed as we were otherwise overlooked
The bed and pillow were hard - and the headboard consisted of a stone wall!
A fridge and small table stood in opposite corners adjacent to the door - but there was no accessible plug for a laptop. There was a basic filter coffee machine (no kettle) - but the tea bags supplied weren’t replaced once we’d used them
There was reasonable (although very rudimentary) wardrobe space - shelves & hanging space with an iron and board but with gaps at the back of the shelves which items fell through
The bathroom was very small with only a loo and basin (with units under) and the only shower was outside, accessed from a door in the bathroom which could be chilly when the wind blew. Washing long hair proved very challenging
The very small (and old) safe was also in the bathroom - but was only just large enough for passports and cash (but not papers or anything more bulky) meaning guests were advised to deposit valuables with reception
Bathrobes were provided but there were minimal toiletries (1 bar of hard soap inside and 1 small bottle of shampoo on arrival) which were never replaced! And no cotton wool products anywhere
The towels were a decent size and quality - but some were now rather old and tatty around the edges Small beach towels were provided which only covered half the lounger
There was a small outside courtyard with 2 upright chairs and a table (no loungers).
Unfortunately we noticed the smell of woodsmoke pervaded the outside areas from late afternoon onwards - and it also came into the room due to the lack of glass
Breakfast was formal (no buffet) served at our table. Disappointingly the home made yoghurt (which was delicious) wasn’t always available
Dinner was a set 4 course meal costing USD $77 pp - but with service charge tax and a glass of wine each it totalled USD $165 for two of us. The food was tasty and service was very professional - but we thought that was pretty pricey compared with other offerings elsewhere. We later learned we could have opted for a USD $100 package for 2 per night - but no one had told us ! And when checking out we asked if it could be added on, but we were advised it was too late
The restaurant was completely open to the elements (with only a small thatch above) meaning that on wet occasions there was no protection from the driving rain! Apparently we should have had an umbrella in our room but none was provided
Overall - the photos on the website made it appear far bigger and more beautiful than the reality. The food was good and the staff were delightful - but we won’t be returning and feel very let down by our experience
- Aeusi (10/5): - Love the outdoor shower.
- Marlin1978 (10/5): What a gem! Loved this place! - Ah....mazing! From start to finish we had the most lovely time here. Transportation from the airport to the St Vincent dock is included, our taxi driver gave us great bits of St Vincent info on our ride. Once at the dock a small Panga boat takes you and your luggage from the dock in St Vincent to the welcoming resort. Upon arrival, the boat captain and mate, which were all so sweet and nice, help with all the luggage and direct you to the office. Once in the office, we were provided rum welcome drinks and given our room, which was 20. The office staff was over the top accommodating to every need, they are very patient and go out of their way to make sure your stay is top notch. Assistance was provided in taking our luggage to our room and up the stairs which weren't many compared to some bungalows that could be quite a few steps up. The room view...wow, the sun was setting upon arrival so we walked down to the little round rock jetty and watched the sun sink behind a mega yacht and catamarans that had stopped to anchor for the evening. We reserved the lovers package and it was great, breakfast included every morning, a wonderful massage and a bottle of champagne. The salon was closed due to renovations so the manager (who is absolutely fantastic) arranged the massage in the bungalow that is all the way at the top of the island. Worth a trip up there even if you don't have accommodations up there as you can walk the path to the other side of the island and look out at the waves crashing and Fort Duvernette. There is also a local water taxi by the dock on St Vincent that will run you over to Fort Duvernette if you'd like to climb the 253 steps to the top and check out the original cannons, it's a beautiful view up there. Worth the climb. The restaurant on Young Island has the kindest staff running it and an excellent chef. We were diving that week and spearing lionfish to which the chef very kindly cooked it for our dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. Every morning we were greeted with smiles and offered a table with a gorgeous view of the water. They take pride in their homemade bread and they absolutely should, coconut bread, cinnamon bread, banana bread etc...so good and fresh. The breakfast is great, I did try the local fish breakfast on my last day and wished I had tried it sooner, I would have absolutely ordered it several times. The lunch menu is a little limited but what we had was great. If you want to venture out we tried a few of the restaurants on the St Vincent side. The resort boat will take you over there at any time and there is a phone by the dive shop to call the resort boat to come and pick you back up if they're not at the dock when you're ready to go back to Young Island. Bungalow and Ada were great restaurants on that side. The office arranged a taxi to take us to 4 Shells which is just down the road, if you want local food, this is the place. Nothing fancy, order off the blackboard at the inside bar and eat at picnic tables outside, get the lobster and whole fish, its phenomenal! The Young Island bartenders are personable and stellar at their job, their drinks are strong and very affordable. Lots of options on the drink menu and the Coconut Bar in the water was open from about 12:30 to 4:30 most days and alot of fun to hang out at. Our bungalow was great, having an outside shower was one of the most unique things about this place, the bed was huge but unfortunately rock hard, I had to ask for a foam mattress pad to place under the sheet to sleep comfortably. We spoke to someone else who said their bed was like sleeping on a pillow so perhaps this was just an issue in our room. We stayed for 7 nights and the only issue we had was an issue that Young Island cannot control and is no fault of their own but does bear mentioning. There are some restaurants across the water that stay open till about 5am on Fri and Sat. Sound does travel across the water and they play some very loud music all night. We should have brought ear plugs but we just downloaded rain sounds on the phone and tried to drown it out. All other nights were silent there. The beach was great, most of the time it was empty and we never struggled for a chair. If you want a covered palapa I would suggest getting there a bit early as those went first. The day pass guests seemed to be secluded to the side of the beach closer to the ferry boat and I did not see any chairs over there. I believe the beach chairs are meant for guests staying there only. The pool is large and refreshing, it was empty most of the time we were there. All in all, we would absolutely go back. The service there is impeccable and someone was always available to assist or answer any questions if need be. Everything its spotless from the beach to the pool to the bungalows. They clearly take pride in this resort and it shows in every level of the fantastic staff.
- Francewife31 (10/5): A perfect, relaxing vacation - I just returned from another amazing stay at Young Island Resort. I don’t care how many new hotels they build in St.Vincent, I will always consider Young Island Resort as my home away from home.
This is not a resort to visit if you are looking for brand new luxury, tv’s with netflix, nightlife, or pool activities. This is a place you go to when you need to unplug and RELAX. The cottages are charming and comfortable. I love the mini library. I also love the shutters that allow for cool island breeze and the sounds of nature. Falling asleep to the rain is 10/10. The outdoor shower is amazing! Who doesn’t want to bathe while looking out across turquoise water? This trip, I stayed in cottage 27 which is up quite a few steps but the view was absolutely worth it. The daily breakfast by the beach is delicious and the service is wonderful. I cannot say enough about the amazing staff we met. Everyone is quick to say hello and help out any way they can. The beach coconut bar is perfect for an afternoon drink and instagram worthy photos. If you can make the climb, head up to the top of the island for a 360 view and some tennis. The pool is always clean and cool, surrounded by beautiful trees. Writing this review is making me so sad that I am not still laying by the beach so I will end it by saying Young Island Resort is an amazing stay. Period.
Special shout out to Ms.Porter, the general manager who is a thoughtful and kind person. My cousin came by to say hello on the beach during my stay, and fell ill. She went out of her way to assist even though he was not a guest. Exceptional customer service. Kudos to Letitia at the reception desk, my favorite boatmen: Charles, Lester, David and Delroy, staff: MaryAnn, Jason, Katurah, and Donovan. There was one person whose name escapes me but my sister has dubbed him “the lizard whisperer” because he helped her get a lizard out of her cottage last summer.
Can’t wait to see you all again soon!
- JLS607 (8/5): Nice Stay - Service is excellent. Rooms are clean and classically appointed. Breakfast and drinks were great. Staff was really accommodating and friendly. The only downside is the loud music playing at restaurants until 5 a.m. across the water. Because the windows are just wooden slats, you can hear everything! Letisha, Michael and another middle aged gentleman waiter made the stay nicer.
- katiegC4454TX (2/5): Terrible place to visit! - Visiting for Coffee/drink but it had an utterly terrible atmosphere.
Looks much better from St.Vincent run down and scruffy, asked where we could sit and all we got was a grunt from male member of staff and the bar girl ignored us and no coffee came so headed back to boat to leave…. there for less then 1/2 hour which was too long.
Don’t go as a visitor!
- GrandTour55932349661 (10/5): Fantastic Stay at The Young Island Resort - I just returned from a weeks stay at Young Island Resort. St. Vincent had been on my radar for more than 30 years. Young Island Resort did not disappoint! I loved everything about it. My cottage, the food, the amazing hospitality from each and every staff member, the huge pool and the beach. The beach area is on the smaller size but 100% adequate. The lush landscape is meticulously maintained and I now have a new favorite cocktail, a Tequila Sour. Next resy will be a 2 week stay!
- andygs2017 (10/5): A great journey to Young Island - A nice and peaceful visit-the journey on the boat taxi made it a beautiful start. I arrived there Saturday morning and stayed about one and a half hours. You have to make a reservation with the island for the day trips. However, they are usually fully booked. I recommend taking a boat taxi, pretty affordable. You may not get on the island boat without a reservation--so boat taxi is your option. DIRECTIONS: go to the area where Mangoz Restaurant and Bar is. You will see a small entrance between 2 buildings, with a security guard. ASK FOR KEVIN, he operates the boat taxi and is very reliable. You may have to wait 5 minutes if he is dropping someone off on Young Island. You will enjoy the island, you can snorkel too. The island bar has great drinks, but some day trippers took their own. The rum punch at the bar was quenching! The bartender was beautiful and kind and hospitable.
- 86kimt (10/5): Not perfect … but perfect - You may only be 200 metres from St Vincent but you feel like you are in a world of your own . If you want boxy homogenised living this is not the place for you . If you want true Caribbean style and character then it is the place for you . The staff were friendly efficient and a true credit to the resort . The food is totally delicious .. I looked forward to dinner every night (first night excluded as I had no idea at that point ) even though I had no idea what would be on the menu . The beach may be on the small side but there were enough sun beds and space to have a degree of privacy . The pool has the most beautiful setting and divided into two halves by way of its design , a deeper half and a shallower which was about 4ft deep . For me the best hotel pool I have ever swum in. I know others have mentioned the loud music on Friday and Saturday from across the water … it is loud but not enough to keep us awake and did it spoil our enjoyment .. definitely not. I don’t drink alcohol but their non-alcoholic cocktail list had more than enough choices for me and the bar staff were very friendly . Would I recommend Young Island Resort … absolutely .
- Clar_9 (10/5): A wonderful week - We had a super week at Young Island Resort. Loved our cottage, the beach, gardens, wildlife (tree frogs at night), and the always friendly and helpful staff.
We especially wanted to send our thanks again to the General Manager, Bianca, for all her help when the first hop of our flight home was cancelled - and British Airways was no help at all. Bianca spent her entire evening in finding and booking an alternative flight for us so that we made our planned second hop. It was very much appreciated. Thank you!
- Guy (6/5): - The property is beautiful and staff is friendly. Only thing was the check in was a little later than expected but the complimentary drinks helped with the wait.
- Maria (10/5): - Great place to visit very friendly staff
- Adventure701702 (10/5): Wonderful week on Young Island - After an exhausting volunteer assignment on Mayreau, we had time to relax for a week on Young Island. We were spoilt by an extremely friendly team and received a generous upgrade to the best category. The week on Young Island was perfect, thank you so much, your generosity has overwhelmed us!
- jgitelman (10/5): Delightful 3 nights. Special place. - My wife and I stayed at Young Island for 3 delightful nights. I'll give bullet points in no particular order
-The ferry to the shore runs reliably 24 hours a day. Easy to manage and it takes 5 minutes to cross. Its like taking the elevator in a tall hotel. Cute little covered gondola that probably seats 10 people.
-The loud music from the club across the water occurs on Friday and Saturday nights. It is loud and gets very loud at like 2 or 3 in the morning. I found it funny in a cultural way. It all depends on your outlook on life.
-The resort grounds are well maintained, for the most part. Its a boutique resort, not Sandals. Its got a homey, tropical atmosphere. Its got history. Its got steps. My wife thinks it's kitschy in a good way. Beautiful flowers and the sound of tree frogs at night.
-Our room was very nice - cottage like, clean, well painted, lighted, attractive, beachy furniture. Refrigerator. Outlets. Ceiling fan. AC. Nice patio with privacy yet with great views of the shore.
-The very large walk in outdoor shower is great. You can enter from the patio or the bathroom. Its really spacious and private.
-The king size bed had nice sheets but I lost feeling in my arms and hands each night. I guess it was firm.
-The staff are truly special, like everyone in SVG. So kind, helpful, sincere. We met a few locals and told them we were staying Young Island and they seemed to approve. It is well respected and supported.
-Food was better than expected. We ended up having dinner at Young all 3 nights and the food got better each night. I think the food is better than almost everywhere else in St Vincent with maybe the exception of Four Shells down the street, which we never made it to because it was closed both times we tried to go. The Saturday night bbq buffet was good. The best part was the steel band that played nonstop for 3 hours. They were really good. We got room service one night and the food was really tasty and delivery was prompt. Breakfasts were filling and very tasty - Carribbean breakfast includes fish, doughboys, plantain. Coffee is hot and good! Flambe'd coconut french toast was good and a visual show. Eating by the beach doesnt get any better.
-The bar is cozy and appealing. We tested Pina Coladas throughout SVG and Young's was by far the best. We ate dinner at the bar one night after an exhausting but thrilling hike to the Soufriere volcano.
-The location is great. There are restuants across the water. Its about 15 minutes by taxi to downtown Kingstown.
-The beach is small - maybe 50 yards - but the sand is clean and the water is nice. There is a band of corral debris that you have to walk through which gives it an authentic beach character. Its not an exotic beach but it will definitely cure what ails you. There is bar in the water but it was closed while we were there. Not quite peak season.
-The pool is tucked away in a beautiful tropical forest. We swam in it once while it was raining. No bar.
-We hiked up to the tennis courts and for the view of the fort across the channel. Something to do.
-It felt very nice to return to Young Island after spending the day on St Vincent - safe, comfortable, welcoming, homey. A haven.
-We went scuba diving with Dive St Vincent which is directly across the water where the ferry goes. Good dive shop and better diving than we were told.
-Prices for food and beverage are more than reasonable.
A very positive experience.
- Kenton (10/5): - Loved my stay
- Sandra (8/5): - The hotel is lovely and the restaurant delicious. However, the noise from the bars across the inlet on a Friday night that went on until dawn was disturbing to sleep.
- ianhT5799US (10/5): An excellent restaurant on Young Island. - My husband and I have just been to the Young Island resort restaurant and we were give such a warm welcome. The restaurant was excellent from the superb lunch menu to the view from the seating area. All the staff treated us with courtesy and made this such a pleasant dining experience. We would not hesitate to go back or recommend this restaurant. The staff on the water taxi were also polite and caring. Thank you.
- brindac2014 (8/5): Loved Young Island! - The only reason it wasn’t a 5 was because of sound across the bay Friday and Saturday nights - all night long. I couldn’t hear hear the sound of ocean. Still was worth every penny! We enjoyed the simple life of small and beautiful cottage Island life. The people are wonderful. Everyday and night our room was perfect. The food is excellent. I couldn’t hear see great sunsets and sunrises. Loved the outdoor shower also. So much character.
- ionutf26 (10/5): Best place to eat in St Vincent!!! By a mile - This place has the best food in St Vincent. Fresh bread baked by them everything is so reach of flavours. And the fruit punch really tastes like fruits and not chemicals.
Stuff is also lovely, there a non stop little boat to take you to the island.
Perfect to stop by if you travelling to and from Bequia.
You can stay overnight or just a day pass.
- SufromTheNorth (10/5): A magical relaxing holiday in Paradise. - From the moment we arrived in St.Vincent and were in the taxi to Young Island we immediately fell in love with the local houses, beautiful countryside and endless sea views, not to mention the friendly people.
Pulling up to catch the complementary ferry across the water you get your first glimpse of YI and wow is all we could say.
We were met on the jetty and as our bags disappeared we were handed a welcome cocktail. The manager, Bianca even welcomes everyone too. A lovely gesture.
We were taken to our bungalow....through a gate with a small private garden, terrace with sun longers and a table and chairs, there are steps down to the sea too. Inside was a large bed, dressing table, large fridge, coffee maker and ice bucket. Adequate wardrobe with a safe. The bathroom was basic with an outside shower which was much better than I expected. There is a wall hairdryer but this was not very good. Air con and ceiling fan. Wi fi. Added bonus was all plug sockets were uk, 3 pins, so no need for any adapters.
The pool area was lovely. The bar was lovely but had no air con, the restaurant was all outside on beautiful tables and the beach was simply stunning.
There were paddle boards and kayaks for use.
The whole resort was spotless. The staff very friendly. Reception were happy to arrange a St.Vincent island tour and transfers etc.
The choices for breakfast were plentiful and you must try the breads! The choices for dinner were good but we found the food was too much and very rich, lighter salads and maybe pasta would be a good addition especially with the heat when you don't feel too hungry.
The bar had a great selection, and gave cold water bottles out when requested. The Friday cocktail evening was lovely with small local snacks with Bianca and her lovely staff hosting.
The ferry taking us back and forth to the main land was available at any time of the day and we were even treated to ride all the way around YI one night.
The bars opposite are good and full of locals. The one bar that plays loud music can be an issue as sound travels straight across. The music played till 10.30 most nights but on Friday it was on until 5.30am! Maybe ear plugs should be provided as it should not stop you enjoying this magical island.
There are just a few signs left of Storm Beryl with the new floating beach bar, new ferry and some works going on to repair steps, rooves and a few bungalows which took the brunt, but well done for everything they have achieved in a short space of time.
There were only a handful of guests staying while we were there, as the season is just starting, but we appreciated the tranquility.
The resort is quirky and personal, not 5☆ but makes you feel so relaxed. Maybe it needs updating but we wouldn't want it to loose any of its charm.
We were sad to leave and hope to return one day.
- brendamB5018FM (10/5): Loved it! Unplug and leave refreshed. - Love it! Stayed 8 days on a business trip. This is a small, intimate resort island. SVG is where the first Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed and it is not over run yet with tourism. SVG is a friendly country that enjoys a good feta (Party). This is a proud Third World country. Do not come here if you expect a Four Seasons resort. If you do visit with that expectation, don’t leave a negative review that you weren’t treated like the colonial Queen because you failed to do your due diligence, as a few reviewers have. The staff here is friendly but they are modest and humble; not intrusive to interrupt your conversations or quiet time, which I appreciate. If you need someone constantly in at your shadow asking what more they can do for you, don’t come here. If you need something, speak up and they do their best to accommodate. If you want to feel unplugged (while still having Wi-Fi) like syncing up with diff cultures, foods, and are looking for a quite getaway, this may be right.
This resort is romantic and beautiful, the rooms are cozy & lovely, service is good, the restaurant isn’t close to a Michelin star but the food is consistently tasty, and meals on the beach in fresh, unpolluted air are beautiful.. The menu isn't as vast as some from large developed cities are used to, but this is a remote tropical island - they do very well with local options. Try all their fresh baked breads! The open concept bar on the beach is also beautiful. Almost every cottage is directly on the shoreline. Turn down service includes making your bed up, straightening up your room/bathroom, and turning on the AC unit. Our beds were comfortable, not too hard or soft. It’s outdoor showers only but they are private and the climate is consistently warm, and so invigorating.
There is often loud music from across the water on weekends. I’m a light sleeper, I wore earplugs and slept soundly every night. If you want to leave the resort and go to the mainland, it’s an easy 4 to 5 minute boat ride on a small covered ferry that runs most hours. The ferry was complementary and we tipped the driver. The water was the perfect temp for swimming-not too cold or warm. Mosquitoes are a nuisance in most warm climates so bring bug spray. If I remember correctly, it takes approx 30 minutes to get from the airport to the resort due to reduced speed limits and ferry. Carnaval is big here too if you enjoy that.
- weekender701 (10/5): In Love With St Vincent. - Best holiday! My husband and I spent eight night on YIR and I can honestly say it was one (if not) my best holiday so far. I fell in love with St Vincent again. It was an "old fashion" way to holiday - no TV, quiet location, great service(do keep it up YIR).
If good service is your thing - book YIR - if you need constant activity, YIR is not for you.
The food, although not a lot to choose from- what was available was delicious.
Apart from the loud music from a bar across the bay(one night) it was a very relaxing holiday.
Thanks YIR.
- Kirk (10/5): - Beautiful island and incredible amenities, food is incredible and staff is wonderful ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
- Neville (6/5): - The hotel was old and badly needs upgrades
- Colmer (10/5): - Awesome place for a few nights
- jutta (2/5): - wunderschöne in die jahre gekommene anlage

party!bässe so laut aufgedreht dass an schlaf nicht zu denken ist
- Robert (10/5): - Young Island Resort is a beautiful spot and a real haven. We loved our 2 night stay there although sadly our last night we were kept awake by music on St Vincent directly adjacent.
- Melissa (10/5): - .
- Elrah (10/5): - Good value. Rooms are dated, but still good value overall. Good food options and drinks are reasonably priced.
- Daniel (10/5): - Incredible unique island resort with lots of character. The area is super safe and all of the islands restaurants are just a 30 second ferry ride away. The staff was excellent and you can’t beat the views and nature at young island.
- Campbell Ian (8/5): - The property has a good location and helped with excursions. There were a few things like a free ferry to Kingstown in their web info that does not exist. Overall, a very good resort.
- ANTHONY (10/5): - Water taxi to island was prompt. Our room was one half of a duplex cottage - listed as Superior - quite private. Great outdoor shower. Food was amazing, at all meals. Good beach good pool. Need more chaises at beach. Spa massages were great. Walked around Island, hilly and good exercise. Fort D was closed due to rockfalls. Staff were very attentive. We loved our room. We would go back in a heartbeat.
- Keith W (10/5): - We stayed for 3 days, Oct 26 until Oct 29 and thoroughly enjoyed the room, the view and the staff. It was very near
St Vincent with its activities which included the Dive St Vincent shop. The food was excellent.
- Beverly (10/5): - Lovely property and staff. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Would have preferred a La carte dining options but plenty of other dining options nearby. Water sports equipment needs to be updated.
- William (10/5): - A lovely relaxing stay on this amazing island.
Very relaxing atmosphere, excellent service and great food.
All staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
Thank you!
- Michelle (8/5): - Nice, but dated, resort on small private island. Staff is excellent, food is pretty good, amenities are good. Very quiet on the island. Nice grounds to walk around and explore. Can also get day passes to island or just dining reservations.
- Ashley (10/5): - This resort is special. We went for a few days during our honeymoon. The staff was lovely, it was quiet, the pool was perfect.
We will definitely be back.
Lots to do off island too if you want to explore.
Food and drinks were great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel is a bit outdated …with no sealed windows , the entire room cannot be cooled by the one air conditioner .
- Charles (10/5): Best Caribbean Experience - Caribbean experience at its best! Stayed for 2day quarantine. Excellent food, service, friendly and nice. Would stay here again! Loved it!
- Paul (4/5): - We were only here for one night, but it was a really depressing experience.
The place itself is ok, not terrible but definitely nothing special by the standards of good Caribbean hotels.
We arrived tired after a long day’s travelling. It took a ridiculously long time to check in – we had to fill out a long form with all the information we had already submitted online, and then sit and wait while the receptionist typed it all again into a computer.
Eventually we were shown to our room. We then waited for AN HOUR AND A HALF for our bags to be brought to the room – a five minute journey in a hotel that was very far from busy. We phoned four times to ask what had happened to them, and each time we were told that they were coming immediately. We weren’t allowed to go to the restaurant, because of COVID quarantine, so they brought some really expensive food (which was actually very nice) to our room – served in styrofoam containers with plastic knives and forks, like a cheap takeaway.
I know we were in quarantine, but I also know that this wasn’t necessary. The hotel we moved to the next day (The Liming – heavenly) brought our food on proper plates with proper cutlery.
Not a place we ever want to return to.
- Jon (10/5): Will stay here anytime I visit St. Vincent. - We loved Young Island Resort! It’s so charming and reminiscent of a simpler time. Like the fictional Catskills Resort from Dirty Dancing, mixed with Swiss Family Robinson, and a little Willy Wonka! The Island is beautifully landscaped and the cottage was untouched by time. Louvered wooden shutters surround the entire room to make it completely open air, but are screened to prevent pests! It’s very romantic, and the staff are wonderful, especially Kendra in the main office. She helped arrange transportation to and from for us several times, and ensured we felt Vincentian by greeting us at the dock with Rum Punches! The dinner was beautiful, set upon white table clothes, four courses with, six locally made breads to choose from and a background of a Catamaran packed canal between Young Island and Villa, Saint Vincent. Some less agile visitors may find flaw with the amount of stairs to climb for some cottages, but we loved the views up top and the staff carried our bags up for us. WIFI does not work too far from the common areas, but this was also no issue for us, because the Grenadines should be enjoyed presently and screen time can wait. The pool was warm, and inviting. There is a tennis court with racquets for loan, a day time swim up bar and a full service bar. Outdoor shower, and US electrical outlets at the cottage, and a very good breakfast as well. You can’t go wrong with a stay at Young Island. It’s not a Four Seasons, but definitely is a St. Vincent treasure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property is a gem — you arrive via a private water taxi service to your own island resort. The beach front cottages each have a private seating area mere steps from a white sand beach. You can hear the sound of the waves and ocean as you drift off to sleep and the dining is under thatched roof huts just off the beach. Very relaxing and restorative. There is even a soa on the property. Great for a relaxing get away!
- Karen (10/5): - This little island resort is perfectly situated to allow easy access (via short water taxi ride) to take in the sites and sounds of St. Vincent, while at the same time, makes you feel that you are vacationing in your own private little paradise! The rooms, which are like small cottages, are clean and lovely, with beautiful views from your own private patio. The staff could not have been more welcoming or accommodating; they truly catered to your every need! The food was expertly prepared, delicious and had enough variety to please and entice across the entire week of our stay! I would highly recommend Young Island, if a quiet and restful vacation is your desire.
- Erin (10/5): Beautiful Retreat - We absolutely loved it! Perfect, quiet, private, clean, lovely food, gorgeous surroundings, amazing staff, wonderful getaway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was wonderful. It has a clay tennis court. We loved the raked beach. Loved the welcome drink and the cocktail hour. The hammocks were fantastic. The views were fabulous with outdoor showers...all wonderful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a tranquil get away where you be surrounded in tropical beauty and treated spectacularly by the staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The views were amazing as was the beach! The staff were friendly and all around this is a beautiful place to stay when in SVG!
- TimothyAustin (10/5): - We loved the tranquility and privacy of the property most. A real paradise, if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.
- Keli (8/5): - Beachfront view and private cottages. It’s a unique experience with a spectacular view of the mountainous mailland. Excellent food and sevice staff.
- Melissa (10/5): - Incredible experience, we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to e luxury cottage with a plunge pool and the views were fantastic up on the hill. The staff were polite, attentive, warm and welcoming and always professional. We had a wonderful couples massage in the spa, it was relaxing and tranquil and just what we needed. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was a lovely balance between local and modern cuisine and everything was fresh and well presented, we particularly enjoyed the king fish and the Cornish game hen. Although we went at a very quite time in off-peak season the resort still felt like it had a good atmosphere and it was nice to have so much of the beach and pool to ourselves.
- Jim (10/5): Awesome Private Island - Very private island experience. Excellent rooms throughout property. While showing some signs of age - overall great quality.
Service was spectacular, staff super friendly and helpful and meals were great!
- Alan (10/5): - Wonderful, relaxing, idyllic small island resort. Really enjoyed private cottage with patio. All facilities well maintained. Great swimming pool and lush surrounding gardens.
- Alexander (10/5): Memorable - The resort occupies a beautiful island off the South Coast of St Vincent (accessible by complementary boat transfer which runs smoothly). It is a very serene and memorable place, well-furnished and friendly, with a refreshing wind constantly blowing through the resort and the rooms. Fixed-menu dinners at the resort restaurant are excellent, a superb dive centre is opposite on the main island. Not all rooms have air con but when we were there in winter the room stayed reasonably cool in the breeze.
- Sara (2/5): Paradise island, not so paradise - The staff didn't want to be there, the menus weren't clear on what you could have and the staff weren't interested in telling you. The room looks absolutely stunning and the view is unreal but it's all open so remember to wear heavy mosquito protection because you will get bitten to shreds everywhere and at anytime. Non hotel stayers get the boat over and are only allowed in a tiny section of the resort but they come in a huge pack and ruin the 29cottage of exclusivity massively! The shower is outside and the hot water doesn't work (at night anyway) so prepare to only have cold showers. Make sure you check your bill before leaving as our breakfast was included and they still questioned me and tried to make me pay. It's a beautiful island from a far but there is nothing to do here and I wouldn't go back again. For dinner, it's a set menu so if you're veg then I'd eat elsewhere...the only options we had were lobster, chicken or pork. I don't eat pork and my boyfriend is veg so options are very limited!
- Sman (2/5): Young Island Feels Old - I came back to this hotel after 20 years. I was chocked by the poor service and the state of the facilities. I can not recommend this hotel to anyone. The few other guest I talked to all had the same opinion.
- Gemma (8/5): - Un poco antiguo, hace falta renovar
- BRW (8/5): Charming old Caribbean beach resort - Stayed here two nights after a yacht charter, in hillside bungalow. Cool vibe and awesome views over water and trees. Attentive, friendly staff and appetizing food. Water ferry to and from big island is simple, fast, and efficient.
- Natasha (10/5): I will return - Amazing, relaxing vacation. Friendly, helpful staff. Fantastic food.
- Deneen (10/5): Total Paradise - We just spent 10 days at young island resort and it was probably our best vacation to date.. Besides a few issues with LIAT , we soon forgot them and revelled in the beauty of our surroundings .. The staff makes this island resort what it is .. superb!
- pammy (10/5): Paradise - After our delayed arrival from Barbados, we had a warm island greeting on the jetty from the manager and bartender James with a drink in hand! We were ushered down the lit pathway the staff waiting for us all welcomed us with genuine smiles, immediately showed us to our cottage, which all ready and just simply beautiful! Dinner was waiting for us which was amazing! We knew we had arrived in Island paradise!!
Every day we were greeted with outstanding hospitality and the most beautiful smiles. The staff at Young Island Resort is by far beyond excellent. They truly make your stay one you will never forget! Our cottage (#4) is worth requesting if you enjoy the beach and poolside. There is no a/c however with three walls of open air shutters (screened) and ceiling fan it was perfect. On the East side on a stone deck has 2 sunbeds & 2 chairs, very private and on the beach. You go to bed and wake each day to the sound of the surf. On the West side another stone patio with table & chairs, is steps away from the pool. Every morning starts with a full breakfast served in open air cabanas, fresh fruit & juices, delicious coffee, tasty yogurt and many choices. I suggest you try something different everyday as they are all amazing. Dinner is out of this world!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Dejlig sted, meget afslappende.
Men spaen var ikke pengene værd.
- vicki (10/5): Quiet romantic getaway - Beautiful island, your own botanical garden to explore. Climb up and over to the other side for spectacular sea views. Beach is small but very pleasant. Great snorkelling on western side for stronger swimmers. Food was excellent. Very quiet and private. Lovely pool. Deluxe suites have own outdoor pool.
- todd (8/5): Hotel has an exclusive feel - We were upgraded from a premium room to a 1bedroom suite. It was very comfortable and had a great view. Food was excellent and the staff very friendly.
