- Dawn (10/5): A fab stay! Welcoming hosts and a wonderful vibe 🙏 - Everything Nothing

- janet (10/5): unique..quirky...charming - everything was excellent. from arrival to departure nothing not to like
- Robert (8/5): Very atmospheric and historic inn, with plenty of character, and welcoming ambience. - Old timber framed building with lots of character, and low ceilings. Our room was very clean, but in character with the property, slightly small, and with low headroom, and rather darkly illuminated. The private bathroom was very well presented, and in contrast nice and bright, with a more than adequate shower. We only stayed one night but had a very reasonable evening meal, choosing dishes from the set menu. Breakfast was exceptional, with plenty of choice for a hot breakfast , and help yourself to cereals, fresh fruit, juices, toast, & pastries. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. As someone 6'2" I struggled with the low ceiling, and would have been better to ask for a room with as much headroom as possible. For one night it was ok, but only for that reason was pleased it was not a longer stay.
- Veronica (10/5): 3rd stay. Never disappointed. - The historic character with details.
- Craig (10/5): Exceeded expectations and terrific value for money. - Outstanding venue. Terrific food and beautiful accommodation. The wait for food orders could be improved, but the food was most definitely worth waiting for.
- Foreman (10/5): - Staff very friendly ..
Breakfast good choice .. Bed very high ...
- Erica (9/5): We look forward to returning (again…) - We've stayed at the Crown before, so we know what to expect (although I've always wanted to stay in the room we were allocated this time, so I was especially happy). It's a beautiful building with a slice of history, but high modern standards. The staff are excellent: courteous and helpful. The food is really good. A minor thing – a discrepancy between breakfast times in the room's information folder and the reality downstairs. But hopefully that's been cleared up now. (Oh, and my tall husband says the protective padding on the low door lintel to the bathroom is upside down…)
- Ulrike (10/5): -
- Charles (10/5): excellent - Food, location, staff.
- John Rich Grant (8/5): The hotel is very old but looks great - The hotel is very old but looks great, it is in a very good location & the staff are very friendly.
Parking is just across the road. NA
- annette (8/5): - Sehr nettes Personal, tolles Frühstück Die Lage ist etwas unglücklich direkt an einem Kreisverkehr
- David (10/5): - Wonderful rooms with lots of history and nice touches. Food in the restaurant was lovely and the breakfast was first taste. Nothing
- Dominique (8/5): Pratique et typique - Superbe Pub et bonne ambiance . La qualité au rendez vous RAS
- P Tintagel (10/5): Excellent place to stay. - Lovely place with plenty of character, a very nice room with good quality products, bottled water, biscuits and coffee machine. Excellent good quality breakfast with plenty of options. All the staff were attentive and well mannered. Nothing
- Sachyboo (8/5): Will stay again - Everything Bed to soft
- Ranjit (9/5): Great location, fantastic staff. -
- Deumayne-Jones (9/5): - The room and facilities were very good and the breakfast was outstanding. Cold rap water pressure at the bathroom sink was pretty weak.
- trevor (10/5): Very good, relaxing. Will stay again - Location very good.
Breakfast excellent Didn't like room 2. Too small
- Andrew (9/5): Family.event - Lovely quirky rooms, well appointed Nothing
- Jacqueline (9/5): Good location with parking - Good location, very comfortable bed, clean cosy room, excellent food, parking. Our room was above the kitchen so there was a constant droning noise from the filter vent at certain times. If you’re the type of person who goes to bed 10-30/11pm it’ll likely be off by then but we go to bed 8/9pm. It didn’t bother my husband as much as me, as he was listening to podcasts on noise cancelling headphones! It wouldn’t put me off staying there again but I would phone next time to request a room away from that area.

- Frances (10/5): - This was - sadly - just a one-night stopover but this did not lessen the warm welcome and fabulous service given by Hayden, Storm and Ed. We were all - including our Labrador - very comfortable indeed: a great room with quirky layout, super bathroom and toiletries; delicious dinner and breakfast and helpful staff to boot. What’s not to like?
- Nicholls (1/5): For a night stopover it was on the expensive side for bed and breakfast - Quaint and old fashioned (historical) Due to age of property the bed room floor was very uneven and the room was poorly lit
- Lisa (8/5): Lovely room, atmospheric pub, excellent location in the village - Lovely room well decorated, great breakfast
- heather (7/5): Disappointed with room size. Friendly staff. - Walk in shower. Good full English breakfast. Room was a bit small. Lots of dogs. Busy traffic.
- Nick (10/5): - Lovely people , who really looked after me Nothing
- Alister (10/5): -
- Philippe (10/5): - Hôtel typique et traditionnel anglais parfait pour profiter et se relaxer RAS
- Stephen (8/5): Really enjoyed it. Very friendly staff, eager to please - Quirky old Inn with great food and friendly staff
- Passmore-Lancaster (9/5): Amaizing stay & Breakfast. - The room was lovely, with the extra coffee pods too!
I was luckily to be in the quiet side of the pub, (I shall request this next time). Amaizing breakfast and the choices! Lovely food 😋. Great nights sleep. I loved the fresh milk. There was some noise, but to be expected and was quieter than I thought which was good.
Do not turn the shower on too fast as it will over flow to the floor! Maybe a verbal Tip from staff when shown to room and written warning in the welcome book.
Sometimes it seemed like there was not quiet enough staff for both bar, restaurant and the hotel side. Felt like one person doing it all. However they done it well!
- Olga (10/5): All excellent I recommend thoroughly. - Everything was excellent better than expected, we had dinner the food delicious and the breakfast excellent as well and the staff so helpful all great. room food, staff all excellent. That we only stayed one night. Would have loved to stat longer.
- Veronica (9/5): Couldn't have wished for more. - Great choice available.
- Kevan (9/5): Lovely stay, would stay there again. Recommended - Great staff, very friendly. Clean rooms, good location. Good breakfast. Great value. Our room was probably the smallest of the rooms available. Whilst everything we needed was there, the w did feel rather cramped.
- Foreman (8/5): Luxury room - Our room was stunning, the bathroom alone had me, old fashioned deep bath with powerful water shower head. Huge shower in bathroom as well. The bed was the most comfortable and huge bed with the best pillows. We were allowed to take our dogs for just 10 pounds each and they were allowed down to breakfast with us which came with the price of our room.
There was plenty of bathroom freebies, shampoo, soap, bubble bath, bath salts etc which was a nice touch. The radiator was on full blast which we could not turn off but staff were very happy to rush to our room and turn them off for us. There was a good quality dressing gown and slippers each in the wardrobe which just topped off the luxury and included a delicious coffee machine, biscuits, a beer, hit chocolate, coffee, tea etc and both still and fizzy water all for free.
We will definitely be back as i do a lot of training at refine across the road and this is 100% perfect. Would definitely recommend. The room hadn't seen a good cleaner in a long while, the dust was thick, both on all surfaces and under cupboards. There wasn't a lot of toilet paper, less than quarter of a roll to last us 2 girls 3 days and the cooked full english breakfast i found tasteless but there was plenty else to eat and a huge hot breakfast menu to choose. These are the only faults.
- Chris (9/5): Very good value for money and we would certainly stay again. - The pub/inn is a traditional old building serving a good range of pub food and a variety of beers. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean.
Sufficient parking on site and nearby. Late overnight traffic so was very quiet.
- Gary (9/5): Excellent - Everything, the staff were 1st class, the food was really good and room was clean and comfortable.
- Jill (6/5): Could’ve been 10/10 with better house keeping!! - I loved the old building and the decor was so lovely! The rooms were very dusty and dirty! Black mould in the shower, carpet couldn’t have been hoovered for a while and clumps of dust were around the bedside tables and headboard. No pillow protectors and the only plug under the dressing table was a round pin plug….which didn’t fit my hair straighteners! Totally impractical.
- Lisa (10/5): Would definitely recommend to anyonestaging in the area - Perfect! Nothing
- leanne (10/5): Beautiful pub, lovely atmosphere, super lovely staff. - Absolutely beautiful little pub in a lovely little town. Beautiful quirky little rooms, spotlessly clean, lovely condiments and toiletries, amazing breakfast with great variety and really good attentive staff. Bed was super comfy. Our room was above the bar so was noisy when we first went to bed, but I phoned down to reception and the gentlemen moved a party of people that were directly underneath us to a different area of the bar. Couldn’t ask for more than that. Loved our stay and would recommend this place to anyone. Nothing. I couldn’t find a single fault.
- Lucy (8/5): Easy to find and great parking. Great location. Comfy beds and a lovely breakfast - Lovely decor, fab breakfast, comfy bed and super powerful shower There wasn’t a mirror I could get close enough too to do my makeup. The bathroom could have done with a magnifying pull out mirror or something. This is just a personal thing though and a girl thing 😂
- Marion (7/5): - Helpful staff
Good cooked breakfasts
Beautiful beamed interior Room felt a little cramped
Mould on ceiling of bathroom
Very dim lighting
- Karen (9/5): Lovely stay with a fabulous breakfast. Friendly staff. - Beautiful room and very comfy beds. Could do with a night light in the bathroom. You had to turn the main light on in the middle of the night which also made the fan come on.
A little noisy in the morning as close to a main road
- Tania (10/5): -
- Lee (9/5): I will stay again very nice - nice room good breakfast The beerss are expensive

- Sue (10/5): Quirky comfort in great location - Cosy atmosphere. Historical feel. Super comfy bed. HUGE roll top bath in spacious bathroom. Peaceful
- JANE (10/5): Absolutely Fantastic - This Crown was fabulous, staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful, place was spotlessly clean, quirky, amazing food, we highly recommend & we will be going back N/A
- Jacqueline (9/5): Stayed many times before and will hopefully stay again - Staff are excellent as is breakfast The bed was uncomfortable but my wife was happy with it
- James (10/5): - lovely old pub with amazing rooms, food was awesome as well! Staff where nice and i'd stay there again, anytime!
- Linda (10/5): Would definitely stay again - Breakfast was excellent
- Leanne (10/5): Such good value for money and lovely to see a busy pub ! - Excellent value , great breakfast and lovely friendly staff . Especially the lovely Welsh lady who I believe was the manager . She was really friendly and couldn’t have done enough for us at breakfast.
- Giovanni (10/5): -
- russell (8/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Very enjoyable - The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable even though it was at an angle due to the room being old and uneven. Ver good shower and plenty of hot water.
Great vibe to a very busy pub. All of the staff were very helpful in reception and the restaurant. Nothing to dislike
- June (5/5): Disappointing! - Food at night was okay Bedroom cold. No heating, no extra covers provided. Bathroom not clean. Kitchen extractor fan left on all night and kept me awake. Couldn’t close bathroom window. Returned to room at 1.30 pm and room not cleaned. The girl said it wouldn’t get cleaned as she was leaving at 2.
- Olivier Croegaert (10/5): Typical 15th century house, super friendly staff - Old construction from 15th century. The room makes you jump back in time. Very comfortable bed. I personally have nothing negative to say.
- Keith (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Perfect overnighter in hospitable pub with great team of people - Great welcome, lovely rooms, superb breakfast. Low ceilings, ha ha
- Jane (9/5): A good nights stay at a great price. - Comfortable, nicely decorated, good facilities, nice products in room. Nothing.
- paul (10/5): Really enjoyable stay, will be back. - Great pub with very comfortable rooms. We stayed in one of the indulgence rooms which is larger than the standard. Plus the wife very happy with the roll top bath.
- Anthony (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, highly recommend Nothing 😊
- Linda (10/5): -
- Ward (10/5): -
- rich (9/5): Highly recommend the Crown and yes will stay here again - The stay was amazing, the room was just perfect olde world style to match the building and the bathroom was more of a wow. Breakfast was great and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful The bed squeaked just turning over please tighten it up. A very minor point but worth stating.
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Sue (9/5): - The breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal we had . The charm and character of the property lovely . The outside seating very good . The road noise which can't be helped and we knew to expect.
The room was a little tired in places ,with the wallpaper peeling badly by the bed .
- Carrie (8/5): Great place to stay - Great place lots of parking available Excellent breakfast great selection of cereal pastries and fruit. Lovely room Nothing
- Brian (10/5): A Real Historical Inn - Very old rambling, historic Inn. Friendly, warm and comfortable. Everything we wanted. Large bedroom and bathroom. Lots of character-sloping floors, low ceilings and doors. Excellent breakfast.
- Stephen (9/5): - Always a friendly welcome, we had my daughter and grandson over for breakfast, he is 3 and loud and adorable but they were really friendly with him and tolerated his noise well, apologies to any other guests on that early morning if we disturbed them. Leaving, will be back soon.
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- Rae (10/5): -
- Tanya (10/5): Almost perfect! - Warm, friendly staff, lovely spacious bedroom. Great pub with a nice atmosphere. Food was also very good. A bit of noise from the bar area when inside the room.
- Eliot (9/5): Superb - Excellent service. Breakfast superb. Lovely country pub. Only small snag was heating not working properly. Tracey and Brandon resolved the problem quickly with portable electric radiators. Shower room cold as there is no heater fitted.
- Steve (8/5): Very nice - Location Small room, not our usual
- Andrea (9/5): We enjoyed our stay at the historic, characterful Crown Inn. - The Crown feels very welcoming. Popular local venue with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Plenty of choice for breakfast, a cosy environment with real fire going when we were there (January). Nothing of note.
- Mary (9/5): - The room was luxurious Lighting was challenging as all based on lamps but it is a heritage building so understandable
- Stefan (9/5): Living history - pure beauty - What a beautiful place full of history. Cosy, warm, welcoming. A winter morning with the fire burning... And great breakfast! Great people. We come back!
- Alexandra (10/5): -
- Marion (10/5): - Everything. Breakfast excellent. Decor and ambience lovely.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Room was exceptional. The whole building is genuinely old and characterful with some sloping floors, low door frames and low beams (padded for comfort). Lively pub in the evening and a very nice breakfast and friendly staff. Not much
- Simon (9/5): -
- Murray (9/5): We had everything we wanted, free car parking, evening meal and breakfast, bar and clean comfortable - Everything was very good and good value for money. Evening was very busy but still managed to have a good evening meal and find a table for 4 in the bar afterwoods. One of the bar staff charged a different price on one of our rounds, but it wasn't worth making a fuss about as it was busy and we didn't realise till a little later.
- Stephen (10/5): - Always a warm welcome, bar is lovely and happily still busy for a village location. Food is superb and the accommodation is clean, comfortable and not bland and boring. This place is a gem. Leaving
- Linda (10/5): We would definitely stay there again - The cooked breakfast was excellent and we ate in the restaurant on both evenings and couldn’t fault anything. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
- Carol (9/5): -
- Angela (9/5): Lovely enjoyable stay - Staff were lovely - waitress in the morning at breakfast actually ran to the shop to get me some skimmed milk good coffee making facilities
Nice toiletries
Lovely shortbread
Very comfortable bed and pillows Bit of mould in the shower
- ANDREW (10/5): Lovely historic building offers great value for money - Bags of character, large comfortable room with four poster bed (Villeneuve). Staff very friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend and stay here again when catching a cruise in Southampton Just a slight inconvenience that the car park is across the road from the hotel but overall we couldn’t fault it
- Gareth (10/5): -
- Keith (8/5): Great place very welcoming - The room was very big with everything we needed. The bathroom was huge and it was all very, very clean.
The meal in the evening was great and we had just a continental breakfast for quickness in the morning, which was very good. Nothing we didn’t like, but our room was a bit noisy as over the bar when a quiz night was on obviously nothing we could’ve done about that , maybe if we stop again that way I would ask for a room a bit further away
