- Lou (5/5): - The diving experience was pretty nice The room was not as good as expected, located a bit outside of the complex (restaurant/ pool / diving center), and very noisy

- Carey (9/5): Great place with good access and deals on diving. - The breakfast was great and free. I found the beds super comfy. The location is right on the beach and their dive centre was fantastic. The curtains didnt fully close, thus not as much privacy as i'd have liked.
- Jill (10/5): - Great location, snorkeling right out the front, day spa and restaurant were great! Accommodation was a cute little villa. Really enjoyed our stay
- Arpad (8/5): -
- Nizam (8/5): Good and reasonably cheap - Friendly helpful staffs during my students Open Water Certification and great food Guest house by roadside hearing noisy traffic
- Gerdien (8/5): -
- Laurier (10/5): Fantastic place with fantastic people creating great memories - We loved the restaurant right next to the ocean. The food was excellent far beyond what we expected, the sauces and spices made the food so tasty. The restaurant staff were kind, polite, with a smile and always eager to help. The portion size was very good.
The dive shop is also right there at the beach and they always had many people there to help and organize everything. They also maintained long shop hours to accommodate early birds and other who wanted to dive later or do night dives.
If you like food and you like diving, you won’t go wrong staying there. Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.
- Thomas,W (9/5): -
- Lucia (10/5): - Amazing value for money. Beautiful, calm, clean, good diving team and best of all, the amazing staff <3 I'd love to come back for longer!
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Great bar and restaurant area.
- Hsieh (9/5): Superb - “The diving experience was excellent, and the breakfast offered a good variety.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place for diving and snorkeling with friendly stuff.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (7/5): Excellent value for money. Clean, good food, great for diving. Not much else in Tulamben. - The rooms were bargain price and comfortable enough. If I had known, I would have booked directly with them instead of through Booking.com, and I would have upgraded us to a room each as they were so economical. I would also have maybe upgraded our rooms but they had two beds, air conditioning and bathrooms, which was enough. The hot water was erratic but it was warm enough not to be needed. The restaurant was a lovely location with a clean pool and very good food. The diving was brilliant and the kids had a great time. There were not many areas in shade where you could lie down and they wouldnt open the umbrellas so I had to sit a lot. Not a big deal.
- Corrie (9/5): Superb -
- Wayne (9/5): Superb - Awesome place, nice food, great people, and the diving is amazing. Thanks to everyone, I'll definitely be back 🤙🏽 Leaving was the worst thing
- Pavel (6/5): May not be what you are looking for - This is a great location, next to ocean beach and with a great restaurant. The internet is generally much better than in other hotels. The staff were nice and provided great support. My room was musty, many signs of mould, bad ventilation and quite dark. Perhaps other room are better.
- Ding (9/5): Superb -
- Wilwert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgia (5/5): Great location but don’t go to the spa staff are awful. - Beautiful location. Restaurant was good. Sheets were too small for the bed and the dooner had no cover on it. I got a massage at the spa and the lady was rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. She became even more hostile when I didn’t tip her. Would not recommend going to the spa at all.

- Simona (9/5): Amazing place to stay, right on the coastline! - Absolutely loved everything about our stay in Matahari Dive Resort. We had Deluxe Room which was super spacious, bed extra extra big and comfy (firmer mattress which I personally loved!), spacious bathroom and exceptionally clean! The resort is huge and it actually looks like botanical garden :) amazing restaurant at the beach with beautiful views, relaxing and chilled out vibes. We ate all our meals at the dive resort and couldn't say anything apart from that all the meals were absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly sweet and polite, always trying to help if needed. We also took advantage of the spa, enjoyed Balinese massage which was top! We genuinely enjoyed the whole stay at the resort, especially on Nyepi Day (Day of Silence) where we stayed inside of the resort in peace and quiet listening to the sound of the waves while reading and enjoying some coffee at the restaurant's terrace. My husband also dived couple of times and was thoroughly satisfied with everything.
Again, we loved the stay at Matahari Dive Resort and hope to be back again in the future! Nothing
- Elke (8/5): Beachfront hotel near famous diving spots in Tulamben - Beachfront hotel with a lovely pool. I upgraded onsite to a bungalow (good choice) and I had initially picked it for the location close to diving off the coast. The lower category rooms are basically simple and functional (looked at all of them). Absolutely fine, if you are just spending your day in the water diving or by the beach.
The staff was really nice and the breakfast great. Take away breakfast also worked (order the night before). Nothing
- Miriam (7/5): Good - The staff were very helpful The pool was being re-tiled for the three weeks of our stay so we only got to use it once before. I think we should have gotten a discount as the accommodation was not what we thought it would be.
- Nizam (9/5): Superb -
- Andy (10/5): Staff and facilities is great!! Would love to go again for sure! - Easy access to dive Center Nothing
- Gerrit (8/5): Great spot for any scuba diver. - If you are a diver and you have opted to go to Telumban for incredible macro diving then this resort is in an awesome spot. The property is not a luxury resort, but it is clean and great value for money.
With that in mind, the restaurant serves a great breakfast, however preference made us go down the street to a different restaurant at night for food. We felt that the dinner options at Matahari wasn’t as tasty as the options we had down the road.
- Vincent (5/5): Filthy beaches in the bay especially after the rain - Value and location Aged rooms need lighter paint and updated art more than 1 old painting
- Peter (4/5): Don’t stay here - I specifically picked this hotel because it was on the beach AND HAD A POOL. On arrival I was told that the pool wasn’t available. But the booking.com AND the hotel website shows their beautiful pool. I could understand if the pool unavailability was a day thing but it’s been under real maintenance for some time, long enough for the management to notify booking.com that they don’t have a pool and change their website until they do. Either they are deliberately lying to prospective customers OR they are too lazy to do the work. Either way I will recommend my dive friends do not stay there.
- Maria (5/5): Passable - Access to the beach with good snorkeling right in front of hotel The room was not as shown in the pictures - very dark with small window facing the wall, located in an apartment building close to the road.
The seaside area is tiny and there are very few places to chill next to it. We had difficulty finding where to spend time pleasantly in the hotel premises.
Hotel staff is not particularly friendly.
- Frida (7/5): Good - Good location, good restaurant right by the sea. Not very clean.
- Dwi (10/5): Good budget hotel - Beachfront restaurant None
- Stephen (10/5): Great dive site, great rooms - The grounds, & breakfast were great. The staff were amazing. They looked after our every need. Dive staff were very helpful. The surrounding area of the resort did not provide for anything to do. The pool area was too condensed. It was awkward for loungers.
- Alkiviadis (8/5): Nice location and great staff - Location was almost next to the USAT Liberty wreck so easy to dive. Very friendly and accommodating staff The room felt a bit too old, but then again balancing the value for money. Would be nice to refresh the resort as it has quite a nice vibe.
- Sandro (10/5): Always again - Amazing! Alle clean and nice managed Tidy and all close together. Amazing view
- Yana (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good. Breakfast was good. Room was small but for the one night was fine . Good water pressure Was little outdated
- Israel (8/5): Very good - food was great. It was also one of the few places that had a spa which is great when you're doing a lot of activities.
- Diane (10/5): Great spot on the less crowded side of Bali. - Our room, Anjes, was wonderful with a large private deck. All the staff was very friendly & helpful. The lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean served great food by happy waiters. Suci was very responsive in helping us with all arrangements including a stop at a hospital during the transfer she arranged for an xray of my broken foot. We started & ended our trip there & they stored some of our baggage during part of our month long journey. All done very graciously. They definitely make you feel welcome & at home. I would have done more snorkeling if I hadn’t broken my foot.
- Peter (8/5): Good value resort. Check your equipment before diving. - Location was awesome for diving. Staff friendly. Views from bar awesome and price great. Any any issues fixed. Cheapest place for such great location. Any great dive spot. It would not take much to pressure clean and paint to really lift the property. Also if you are not an experienced diver I wouldn’t recommend using. I have not had many dives and the 3 I had all had issues. It was cheap diving but it is the least safe I have felt. First had issues with bcd. 2nd the tanks were not filled and third when I indicated my tanks were below 70psi the leader tried to give me his which were blocked. I went back to mine and we surfaced with safe stops but it was not a great experience. Also if they could run a ramp down it would be more pleasurable as really hard on the feet.
- Resare (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent diving instructors.
- Chris (10/5): Great location, value and restaurant staff. - Friendly staff, restaurant overlooking beach with poolside bar. Change towels. Diving every day towels need changing every couple of days. Asked but didn't happen. Bed a little soft for me, but that is a personal thing, not uncomfortable.
- Olga (7/5): It’s okey - Location is great, stuff is friendly. Pretty cool spot near the resort to snorkel The breakfast is awful. Very unhealthy, there is no salad. Usually, not healthy options like toast is replaceable with 2 eggs. But they just refuse to do so.
- Elizabethsunarto (8/5): Awesome property by the beach - Great location and friendly helpful staff. Sewage smell coming out from the bathroom.
- Taylor (10/5): Great staff very helpful and charming especially with organising for us on last minute requests - Location Few cockroaches dead on check in, food could’ve been a tickle better
- Joanne (8/5): Amazing dive resort in the best location in Tulamben. best dive guides. Staff can’t do enough for you. All the hard work - Location is best in Tulamben. right on the water
- Bonnie (1/5): Food poisoning with poor staff reaction to this - The diving experience was great as beginners, I wouldn’t stay here but would use their diving instructors again. We are exclusively at the resort and I got horrific food poisoning. The staff tried to suggest it was an allergic reaction (as the symptoms started several hours after eating it was very clear it was not) and did not offer any kind of compensation so we ended up paying for the food in full. The response was simply stated as, and I quote “sorry for the inconvenience” as I was vomiting my guts up. This shows me they do not wish to improve the cleanliness or hygiene practices as they were trying to shift the blame. So would not recommend people eat at this resort but perhaps just use their diving services as this ruined the next day of our trip.
- Kristen (9/5): Great location - Lovely staff, great location and restaurant on site. The bed was uncomfortable, two singles pushed together.
- Niniek (9/5): Superb - Location is very good ,, breakfast is good
- Hope (10/5): Best diving and raturants spot in Tulamban ! - Best location by the beach!! Great snorkelling and diving right from the restaurant and dive shop onsite! Best staff and super relaxing The beds and room are quite small and also the beds were uncomfortable sadly! I also wasn’t a fan of how the toilet and shower are next to each other and cause flooding
- Safina (7/5): Good - The room Nothing
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (8/5): If you like to snorkel or dive, this is the place! - Right on the beach - pool - decent food - very good masseuses - nice room - lovely sitting area No umbrellas for the sun beds. Big stones on the beach... (Not their fault)
(I couldn't snorkel because of a twisted foot. And other than snorkelling or diving, there isn't much to do in Tulamben...)
- Julia (6/5): Pleasant - Nice place for divers for 1-3 days as you can start directly from the shore. When we were there, they offered 5 dives a day (maximum approximately 45 minutes long) including the liberty wrack. Friendly staff and reasonable prices at the restaurant. For non-divers there are nicer areas to stay on Bali, Tulamben has little to offer. Overall our stay was a bit disappointing. The staff at the reception seemed unmotivated from time to time, the massage team looked so derogatory at us when we wanted to book a second massage that we decided for an alternative option. Our moscito-nets had several big holes, house keeping tried to mend them, but couldn't find all of them (it was not possible to get new nets), the AC was very noisy and uncomfortable to use at night. Apart from that they have a sewage problem that caused an unpleasant smell in our bathroom and at some places on the property.
- Essan (3/5): Poor -
- Éva (8/5): Great location kind staff great rooms - Kind staff in the reception and the snorkeling & diving rental area. Great location. Great room big comfortable bed. It needs a Victor renovation, paint with a little care it could be a paradise.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): Great! Dive sights everywhere! - The staff was awesome and friendly especially the restaurant "older" staff, the young guys could learn a thing or 2 from them. The pool was extremely clean to the point that it tasted slightly funny. The food and drinks are really really good and affordable. The view of the ocean from the resort was superb. The room was very clean. Beautiful location for diving, snorkeling and just swimming around. Great diving all round.
One of, if not the best standard dive resort in Tulamben. Really enjoyed the stay, if we hadn't payed for our next accommodation we would have extended our stay. The beds were way to soft, slept like a banana most of the time and woke up with a bit of a sore back. The bathroom in the rooms weren't terribly ventelated causing it to become extremely hot like a sauna. The aircon is alright, woke up quite hot throughout the night. Got hit by the mosquitos inside quite a bit so dowse yourself in repellent. Suggest a pool to be regrouted, cut myself very easily on the pool floor and wall just walking in the pool to the swim up bar. Small things but awesome stay.
- Gladys (8/5): value for money - they have a dive centre in the property and water pressure was great in the shower There were a lot of millipedes in the room and around the property.
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Jed (8/5): Great for diving & eating - Location on the water, the food outstanding and the staff terrific Nothing to dislike
- Holly (7/5): Amazing views .. and watermelon juice! - Staff were great! Restaurant staff would always hold my baby so I could eat and she was happy, the massage was great.
Owner was friendly and had good chats on check in and check out.
The food was great! Watermelon juice was amazing! One of the best I've had in Bali!
Bed was soft and squishy which was nice for a few nights but glad we didn't stay longer or my back would suffer 😅
Right on the water with amazing views! Bathroom had a horrible smell and the shower head could not be directed and would spray clear across the room if you didn't hold it in your hand for the whole shower.
There isn't much to do near here except for diving so if you don't plan to dive I wouldn't bother coming to this area.
- Sally (10/5): Fantastic place with beautiful views, great food, and friendly staff! - We loved staying at this resort. We came to Tulamben to do a scuba diving excursion to the USAT Liberty shipwreck. The location here was super convenient, since it was close to the dive site. Our bungalow had such character, and we LOVED the upstairs deck/patio with ocean views. Our kids loved playing in the hotel pool, which was just a few steps down from the bungalow. The restaurant offered very generous portions at amazing prices, and we even discovered that they delivered food with no additional charge to our bungalow, which was great as well. Just loved the views, the quiet ambiance, and the convenient location! We were a little surprised that the lower floor (with two twin beds) in our unit did not have AC as it connected to a stairwell that was open to the outside. This was not a huge deal since the temperatures were fine during our visit, but it was a little unexpected.
- Celine (9/5): Will be coming again for the next diving course! - Our stay was in general nice, the staff was very friendly and warmhearted and the open water dive course was amazing. We would come again! The room was basic which was totally fine for us but it was very smelly in the bathroom. This may be due to the heavy rain because the bad smell never went away in the 5 days we stayed here.
Also, the driver wasn’t the best. He was nice and kind that’s for sure but his driving skills are horrible. The route from Tulamben to Denpasar is very winding and he went so fast that we almost had to throw up the entire drive. It was horrible.
- Simona (9/5): Great for divers, but I am not the one - Beautiful garden An unpleasant smell at the bathroom
- Rachael (8/5): Very good - The staff was extremely helpful. I had an ear infection from a previous dive trip, and they arranged a visit (including transport) to a nearby clinic upon check-in to help me get care and medication. When the infection prevented me from being able to partake in planned dive activities, they helped accommodate my change in schedule.
The food ans view from the restaurant were fantastic.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were exceptional! Very helpful, all you had to do was ask, we stayed over the Christmas period and we requested a special dinner, and it was awesome, we were a group divers who enjoyed the Matahari experience
- Ches (9/5): Great stay - Right on the beach front, great views.
Comfortable beds. Friendly staff.
Great price. The restaurant could be abit quicker with the food orders and the meal sizes.
But the food is tasty.
- Ben (10/5): very good, dive guides and bar/restaurant staff were always wonderful to deal - staff were very accomodating and owner was still in amongst setting things up couldn’t stay longer
- Willy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (10/5): Great diving, food, staff all at affordable prices. Can’t ask for better. - On the beach. Good quality food and accommodation at good prices. Well priced diving. Fantastic dive sites. Dive and restaurant crew very friendly and lovely. Laid back and relaxed. No humbugging or hassle to buy like down south. Very straight and honest, no one trying to overcharge like in Kuta area. The owner Suci and one of the managers Tom can arrange anything you want from a last minute trip to Amed or Agung to a sumptuous multi course Christmas dinner. All the crew are lovely Been here many times and brought many friends. I love it.
- Mohamed (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (8/5): Suited my purpose to dive and snorkel. - Ideal for diving and snorkelling. Also a nice cafe with view. A little bit run down. No views from the rooms.
- Ernest (10/5): Relaxing way to unwind in a people friendly atmosphere - Central location to dive shop and resturant also access to the pool. Eyerthing was fine and met my expectations
- Laura (1/5): Run away. Just don’t - I stayed 6 weeks in Bali hoping around. I went to do mostly diving but found the dive staff more interested in smoking and their phones.
The breakfast was good and the kitchen staff were wonderful. The bedroom was a board with no cold air coming from the a/c. I went here as my 3 stay in Bali and diving. I had already dove in Bali for 37 dives. I was going to do a shore dive and decided not to take my camera. I had already set up my gear when I ran back to my room. When I got back (2-3 minutes tops) my reg was blowing and then they all of a sudden had time to talk to me about renting. I ended up diving with another local shop across the street.
- Tammy (8/5): We went for the diving which did not disappoint. We hit our 600th dive there so have a lot to compare from. Our dive g - We were there for the diving which is great right out in front of the hotel. The dive staff was attentive and did a great job We had the nicest room/suite on property which had very limited AC. (In 90 temp). Only the bedroom had AC which had no seating, all the rest of the 2 story villa was open to outside which meant it was beastly hot and full of mosquitoes. The service in the restaurant was very slow with food that was hit or miss
- Gabriele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tzu-lun (8/5): Very good -
- Kwok (10/5): Exceptional - Great varied and tasty food at modest prices in the restaurant, served by friendly and efficient staff. All diving sites visited were interesting and well led by knowledgeable guides. I hope to return one day. I booked a deluxe room but the balcony opened to a busy main road. After 1 sleepless night, I upgraded to a bungalow for a small fee per night, well worth the extra cost.
- Anders (9/5): Superb - Right on the beach, perfect place to stay when in Tulamben for diving. The pool, restaurant, and spa/massage were all very good too.
