Guest Reviews
- Volodymyr (10/5): -
- Tanya (9/5): - Location is great. Staff is amazing and helpful. The motel is clean and very well priced. The light show is a fun addition. Room is a little dated but for the price and location this is a non-issue.
- allen (7/5): - Location The shower. The floor is a saftey hazard when it gets wet. Its super slippery. It needs slip resistant tap or matt up closer to the shower head.
- Amy (6/5): Beach access for a road trip stop - We walked right to the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a solid basic hotel for a road trip.
- Carol (10/5): -
- Brent (8/5): Quick stay in Gold Beach - Great location No juice at breakfast. I am not a coffee drinker
- O'Duane (10/5): - The beach access I have no complaints.
- Carey (7/5): - Beach access Refrigerator was loud when running
- Jasmine (8/5): - John at the front desk was very helpful! Room had a bit of a musty smell, light show was a bit underwhelming
- johansen (9/5): - Great place but needs to upgrade bedding/ mattresses! Worn mattress!
- Brad (9/5): We would love to come back and enjoy more there! - We had a great view of the Totem and the mist of the tide and waves; The bed was amazing did not want to leave the bed in the AM!!! close proximity to a lot of places in the town. The fact that we missed the light show because we had to eat we were starving at the same time the show was going on sadly.
- James (10/5): - Close to the beach
- Chelsey (6/5): A bit disappointed and misleading booking. - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The walk to the beach was short and pleasant.
The coffee in the room was nice (Starbucks). Unfortunately, due to having our service dog, we got a “dog friendly” room, it did not have view or balcony, and our only window was to the parking lot where people continually walked past. It seemed like company poured all their renovation budget into the rooms with views. We walked past those rooms and saw inside; they looked very nice.
The room we had was very small, had old carpet, a particular odor, and a small hole in the ceiling (maybe for some sort of cable). It seemed like they didn’t really care to put a lot of effort into making the dog friendly rooms nice. The bed was also uncomfortable.
The booking was misleading because these rooms aren’t featured.
- Adam (10/5): Great price for the location! - Great location for the price! Could walk to the beach and nearby restaurants if you wanted. Staff were incredibly kind, too. Bed was comfortable and rooms were spacious. The breakfast wasn't anything to write home about, but easily did the job! Just don't expect buffet style and you're fine.
- Rodrigo (9/5): - Great location, beach access was a big plus and the light show they have every night was really fun as well. Bonus points for having the hot tub as well. Overall, 10/10 super glad I got to stop here
- Christine (10/5): -
- davebD1385JT (6/5): A clean, quiet place to sleep. - We stayed at the Pacific Reef Hotel around eight years ago, and enjoyed it so much that we stayed an extra day, for both the beach and the hotel. We returned to Gold Beach for the first time in a long time and stayed here again.
We were disappointed. We opted for an ocean-facing king room, and it was clean and quiet, with fresh bedding and towels. So, $175 a night for a clean, quiet place to sleep.
It could be so nice with even a little effort, a spacious room, but no furniture beyond a small round dining table and two dining table chairs. No desk, phone, couch, or even a comfortable chair for that rainy day that often comes at the beach. Minimum basic cable TV, with no instructions as to how to operate the complex remote and cable box.
A single-cup coffee maker, decent coffee, and no other room amenities. An elderly mini-fridge that buzzed and hummed for three days.
The sliding door to our little patio, which did have nice rocking chairs, was so difficult to open that we avoided using the door. I walked over to the office (no phones in the rooms) and told the clerk, who said the maintenance guy would come by in the morning to take a look. I think he sprayed something on the track; we could smell it when we returned, but that didn't help, and we didn't hear any more from the staff. We wrestled with the door for the rest of our stay.
The overall impression was that they offered the least that they could. We see that as a trend elsewhere, but it's not encouraging us to travel. Higher and higher prices with less and less service are going to result in no occupancy at all.
Great location, good "bones", but definitely a 2-star experience with one added for location and beach access.
- Manford (8/5): - Cozyness . 2 rooms with beds. The smoking area was far away and cold. Light show is just a bunch of different colored lit up bushes that flash on and off . Kinda lame. No one stays in the A frame cabin in picture.
- Jaime (9/5): -
- Siera (5/5): It wasn't the worst but not worth the price - The easy walk to the beach For the price and hype of the hotel I expected more but so many things were broken, taped together by scotch tape and just bad quality
- Brittnay (10/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Kaliyah (8/5): Hilarious - The light show was so funny It smelled kinda musty in the room.
- Allen (1/5): Nasty place. Not worth the money. Much better places to stay - Nothing Room smelled; extremely dated and floors were beat up.
No shower curtain.
- Lelia (10/5): Great spot to stay in Gold beach - Great location very attentive staff! Light show was additional fun! There isn’t anything it was a lovely place to stay. Possibly install speakers for the light show on the inside where some people who get cold easily could watch and listen as well..
- Allen & Verna (10/5): - The beds were very comfortable, clean and fluffy.
Good view of the ocean.
- Willie (8/5): - The show, access to the beach and location. Nothing
- Audie (10/5): -
- Charles (8/5): An enjoyable time by the ocean - Dinner light in shower. Decent coffee. Pool broken, carpet in room dirty
- Amanda (5/5): Nicer rooms with better views and breakfast for less money next door - Light show Hot tub out of order, partial ocean view, breakfast was pathetic
- Melanie (10/5): -
- Frank (1/5): I would never stay their again - Nothing the parking sucked the beds were very small and very uncomfortable their was mold under the sink it had a very bad smell to it not a good experience Pretty much everything
- James (6/5): Good - Staff was great but at time hard to find. Office closed often and no one to talk to about a problem. really close to highway 101. Traffic noise was bad but after midnight things go better. This is an old place and could use some TLC.
- Marlee (10/5): We would stay there again. All in all, we enjoyed your facility. - The rooms were much larger than expected and the extra room added to the experience. We were surprised at the size of the rooms. Very nice. Regarding the light show we expected to see some fun light displays not a promo film. We lliked the film but more fun lights would have been nice considering it was suppose to be a light show. But then, no place else offers an outdoor theater! And the deer grazing in front of the screen was awesome! Do you arrange for that every nigth? LOL
- Laurelle (9/5): Wonderful! Highly recommend. - Great location. Access to beach was wonderful. Light show was fun (although we didn't care for the Mamma Mia movie afterward, so we left). Super clean, nice furniture, spacious room, lovely view. Rocking chairs on the little deck outside were a great touch! Nice to have some coffee and snacks for the road the next day. We will definitely stay again! Check in staff was nice, but not overly friendly. Just matter-of-fact. On check out, they didn't ask how our stay was. No big deal, we will still stay again.
- david (10/5): Wonderful - Room was great and staff was super No complaints
- Bruce (2/5): disappointing - Good location The toilet was leaking all over the bathroom floor so we did not shower the first morning. They did do a repair to fix the leak. The next morning we went to shower but there was no shower curtain and housekeeping did not arrive to work on time so about 8:45 am the desk clerk found us a shower curtain.
- Stefanie (4/5): -
- Erin (10/5): - Location right on the beach was wonderful!
- Doug (8/5): - Near Ocean, fun little light show Shower water pressure, room rates
- Sarah (9/5): Beautiful view, comfy beds excellent beach access - The hotel was lovely, but having two different rooms to could tell which had been updated and which had not. One room had lovely beds and updated paint, the other was plain with wire frame beds and no headboards. The view was incredible with the balcony and patio, hearing the ocean with close access to the beach was the best part. Overall great stay The rooms were pretty bare bones, the view was incredible but the rooms themselves could have used a little beachy styling or art or something. The room upstairs is nice with the accent wall, big headboards, and vaulted ceiling, but the wire beds and plain paint downstairs needs to be updated so it doesn't seem so basic.
- Matthew (9/5): - The ocean view from the room. Big room. No a/c. But is usually ok without, just was there during the fair so had to wait until it was done for the night to open up the door to cool down the room. I like to sleep cold.
- Nancy (7/5): This is a comfortable, well-located hotel. Not fancy but it is cozy, the movie is a special treat, and the - Ocean front property (although our room was not in a building with a view. The light show is really colored lights in the bushes around the edges of the property but it was special, the 2 films started at 9:00 which was right at sunset so it was hard to see them but you can sit outside in the stadium-like seating area, watch from a 2nd floor indoor/outdoor community room, or from the balcony or deck of rooms in the back building. There is also a nice hot tub in a separate building. The grab-and-go breakfast was generous and tasted good. Perfect for us because we left really early for river rafting. No complaints.
- Larry (5/5): -
- Carolina (8/5): -
- Rachel (9/5): Would stay again!! - Lovely little spot and the cutest place. Carpet could be updated
- Herminihilda Minie (8/5): Great short vaca! - I like the location, the size of the room and with the excellent price. No AC. However, not hot when we stayed. Shared entrance to our unit condo with someone else. Limited parking.
- DONNA (8/5): I would stay there again if I was in he area -
- Nikole (10/5): - I just had a great time. My expectations were exceeded. Staff was great
- Cathy (2/5): - Beach Furnishing outdated
- aneva (10/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- Kim (10/5): Peaceful - Location, peaceful, staff was accommodating. N/A
- 13oweng (10/5): Awesome Hidden Gem in Our Roadtrip!!! - Pacific Reef Hotel in Gold Beach is a total gem for a chill coastal getaway. It’s right on the water, and the vibe is super laid back. The coolest part is definitely their nightly outdoor light show and "adventure theater" you can grab a blanket and watch it right from your patio! With direct beach access and those iconic porch rockers, it’s the perfect spot to just watch the waves and reset.
- Willett (5/5): Staff and location are great....the room not so much - The staff on site was friendly as always, we have stayed here several times in the past. The location is great and the walk to the beach is always pleasant. The smaller rooms were quite dated... The floors needed a serious vacuum, the bed was not comfortable, the shower was very dirty, and whatever chemical they tried to clean it with previously they must have not rinsed it away as it left my feet with slight chemical burns after the first shower, the mirror in the bathroom was also quite dirty, and trash was left in the room near the night stands. We had never stayed in the smaller rooms before, only the larger family rooms with the balconies for the light shows (which I would still recommend). I would not recommend nor would I ever stay in the smaller rooms again.
- Earl (9/5): You will not be disappointed. - The location of this motel was great. I loved the fact that you could drive or walk down to the beach. Very quiet and comforting. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.
- D4224VTdenisew (10/5): Well worth the stay. - Very lovely place. Easy accommodations. The room was nice. Loved the short walk down to the beach or you could drive. Never did catch the light show I'm sure it was lovely as well. Very relaxing quiet, nice beaches in the town.
- Guest (7/5): -
- Janice (7/5): -
- Leona (10/5): - Clean surrounding area and pet friendly
- Julie (7/5): - Location The entry smelled musty & staff were not very friendly.
- Barb (3/5): - nothing Rooms like mine were like the old motor inn hotels ... also mold around shower and cracks in walls. Front window didn't have curtains, only blinds. If I had paid twice as much I would have seen the light show and movies.
- thomas (8/5): -
- daniel (9/5): A movie, a meal, and a good sleep on the coast. - When I go through Gold Beach Oregon I look forward to staying at this Inn. It sits atop a small knoll looking down on the ocean. Some of the rooms don't have a view, but a fair number of them do. There is a movie screen in the back that you can watch a movie from your balcony when there is a video playing. The rooms have many amenities, TV, fridge, microwave, full shower, etc... I also enjoy that they put an easy chair in the room. I just hate staying in a hotel room and all they have is a desk chair to sit on. Well, there are few things that I could think of. The room is rather dated. The furnishings are scratched and dented. Probably a good remodel would make the rooms shine. Also, timing is crucial to a nice stay. During the height of the summer season, the rooms become really expensive.
- Debra (8/5): Great visit. Will be back. Dog friendly. The light show was a hoot. - Nice big room. Lovely grassy area, great for dog walking. The fridge had a very high pitched sound when it kicked on. It woke me up all night.
- Elizabeth (7/5): - Quiet and comfortable.
- Ashley Steffensen (10/5): - Love the light show and 2 bedrooms wish we stayed more then 1 night because Saturday was Elvis!
- Therese (10/5): - There was an issue with our room, but we were upgraded and all was well. Less expensive room was a bit shabby. Sink wouldn't drain, no shower curtain, but staff made it right
- Yun (7/5): 价格合理 - 位置就在海边,房间还算干净 盥洗间和卧室没有隔挡,开灯会影响睡觉的人
- Clara (8/5): -
- Kari (8/5): - well maintained and economical hotel within steps of Gold Beach
- susan (8/5): - Beach was so close
- Emily (8/5): - Staff was amazing, most rooms are renovated and stunning, our room was unique. The view and property are awesome!!
- Seth (10/5): - Great stay
- Sergio (10/5): - Clean room. Quiet area.
- deniserH2943DF (10/5): So glad I stayed here. - I had an upper and lower room facing the ocean and the light show. Sweet spot and the workers there were sweethearts.
The ocean is just a short walk away... maybe like less than a city block.
- John (8/5): -
- Rudolph (7/5): It was nice not worth the money. Sorry should cost about 135.00 per night. - I loved hearing the surf and warning horn from the lighthouse. Put us to sleep right away. Ueah bad parking for handicapped.
- Stephen (8/5): - Easy walk down to the beach. Worked well, since I enjoy photography. Easy access off Hwy 101
- Kathy (8/5): Loved Gold Beach - It was a lovely hotel . Great for the price . Clean and comfortable I do like stay where there is breakfast but I knew that when I booked
- Nachokid15 (8/5): Fine for a quick overnight stay - Very nice location on Gold Beach. Stayed in an Oceanview balcony room 2nd floor. Very spacious room and balcony with chairs and little table. View of the light show.
Pros: Location, you can walk to the beach. Price is reasonable. Easy parking.
Cons: No elevators so ask for first floor if you have problems climbing stairs. Everything is worn and old, bed was very uncomfortable, I think the rooms need a little update. Pictures on website are a little misleading.
- Liu (8/5): - Clean room, nice staff, good value
- Donald (10/5): - Yes I would definitely stay here again
- Bruce (7/5): Expected nicer ocean view. - Good location. Easy to find the hotel. The room was large and comfortable. Arrived too late for the light show. Whatever that is. When I booked an ocean view room I was expecting it to be close to the ocean. There was quite a distance between the room and the beach. Overpriced!
- 872kathleenc (6/5): Dog Friendly? Not too sure. - I will start off that we loved the place. Almost everything about this place was great. The rooms were large. The light show was fun to watch each night. The location was perfect. The one issue was that we had our dogs. It is supposed to be dog friendly, and we thought it was until we got home. During our stay, one of our dogs got sick on the bed. The linen was soiled, they said they had to throw it out (but I don't know for sure that they did). I get that they chose to charge us extra for that. But, they also charged us extra for dog hair in the room. We were in the room for four nights with no house keeping. When we checked in they told us there was not house keeping and we would just need to come to the office, if we needed anything. After the we got home and I called about the $50 extra charge, she said on the back of the map it said after three days we could request housekeeping. That was not said at check in time.
We have stayed in many hotels with our dogs. This is the first one that has ever charged us for extra dog hair left in the room. So, I would not put this hotel as a dog friendly hotel, unless you have a shedless dog.
- Karlene (10/5): - Nice room, very friendly front desk, fun & interesting light show in the evening!
- Stacy (10/5): - We have stayed here before and everyone is very accommodating!
- James (4/5): Placement was very disappointing. - The motel is just a walk away from the beach and ocean. Booking does not provide the correct descriptions of the catagories of available rooms. We have a dog and was placed in a motel 6 type room for $150 per night. No view of the ocean. However, I found lovely ocean view rooms with balconies, also dog friendly. They were $80 more per night, but much better. They had a small kitchen and living area! The interior was lovely.
- Debra (10/5): - I would definitely stay here again ! 😊👍
- KENNETH (2/5): - Breakfast was not available until 8:30 if you could call it breakfast. Only yogurt, cheese stick, apple and dead cinnamon roll were available. Took a pass. The shower curtain would not stay closed so the water sprayed all over the floor. The floor was peeling up as a result. No extra blanket. Would have been nice to have a blanket to watch the light show
- Gary Sheila (8/5): Gold Beach is a lovely spot to hang out - Location was superb. Listening to the surf crash on the beach is so cathartic. Shower pressure was pretty poor and wish we could have had a room with a king bed.
- Ruth (6/5): - Didn’t have shower curtain.
One of our rooms was by staff office and our room reeked of marijuana that was coming from office.
- Linda B (10/5): Pacific Reef #1 in my opinion. - Everything was top rate! Check in was seamless. The staff very friendly and efficient. Room was quiet and very comfortable. It overlooks the ocean and is a short walk to the beach. We had a wonderful stay.
- Ed (10/5): A Must Stay - This was the best place we stayed in our 5 day trip. clean room, easy access to the beach, great view (we had the upstairs room with a balcony)
- Gail (10/5): - Very nice room with a good view of the ocean. It had a balcony with rocking chairs. The property has a big screen behind the buildings that will show a good documentary on the Oregon coast. Nice outdoor theater. We watched from out room. It had a grab and go breakfast of muffins, granola bars, yogurt, coffee etc. The Gold Beach area of the coast is beautiful. Highly recommend this place
- Daydream18464121119 (6/5): Great Beach Access. Nice grab and go breakfast. Very strange "family unit" room. - I loved the beach access. The light show every night was nice. We took advantage every morning of the grab and go breakfast which had ample options for our family. We stayed 3 nights in an upstairs "ocean view family unit". First off, there are no elevators anywhere on the property so understand that you have to lug your luggage up and down the two flights of stairs. The entire property does not have air conditioning. Unfortunately, we were there during an unseasonably hot period. There are a bunch of windows in the unit, but all of the windows were screwed shut, except for one in the kids' room and a bathroom one which had no screen. A floor fan was provided. A lot of heat accumulates in this room which is really a converted attic over their conference room. The king size bed is under the slope of the roof so that my tall husband hit his head on the ceiling the first time he came to bed. The bathroom was clean, but the toilet is on a platform about 5 inches higher than the floor and ended soon after the toilet bowl. So, if you are short like me, you end up awkwardly straddling the bowl. The shower was a nice space but it drained very slowly, there was a 3 inch accumulation of water after 3 quick showers. The ocean view is over the roof of the other units, you can't see the beach, just the far-off ocean. I requested another room right after we got there and tried again the next morning but both times was told that no other rooms were available. There was a smallish full size fridge in the room, along with a casual dining table and chairs, a very low couch and chair, a huge walk in closet but strangely no dressers. There was a lot of floor space. I would stay here again for the location and beach access, but I would not book the same room again.
- Leslie (10/5): - Great hotel, great staff, spacious room. Loved the movie and light show at night. We were able to watch it from our balcony. It was a great experience!
- Charlene (10/5): - When you stay here, you actually get 2 light shows - one from Mother Nature setting the sun over the Pacific with a quick beach walk and the other is put on by the hotel along with a quick history of the area in the “backyard.” The staff were super friendly and helpful when I locked myself out of my room.
