• spark18a (10/5): Wonderful hotel and great staff - The Accostage is a wonderful hotel, in a great location with easy access to the city, a short walk to the beach and the old town which has great sights and restaurants. Le bunker museum is well worth a visit. The staff, especially Sylvia were brilliant and so helpful! Breakfast was superb and good value. The room was clean and perfect for our needs, compact but superb. Parking is very tricky as the streets nearby are extremely busy (August visit) we had to park (initially) 250 metres away, but don’t let that put you off…,

Near sports bar/casino with magnificent restaurant not too expensive. Nice walk through the park into town, also close to a small beach that had people swimming in the sea, didn’t use it myself as only there for one night.

• Elodie (10/5): Un séjour agréable à La Rochelle - Nous avons passés un très bon séjour, tout le personnel était très accueillant et bienveillant. Nous le recommandons sans hésiter pour y séjourner que ça soit en couple ou en famille. Si vous avez la moindre question, besoin d’avis pour profiter de la ville et la connaître, vous pouvez compter sur l’équipe pour répondre à vos questions. Si nous revenons dans le coin, ce sera le premier endroit que nous regarderons pour de nouveau y séjourner.

Petit déjeuner un peu élevé pour moi Malheureusement pas de frigo dans les chambres. 3 bouteilles d'eau fraîches dans la chambre aurait été bien utiles( 1 seule bouteille etait à disposition dans la chambre) Hotel tres bien placé proche de la plage et du port on peut tout faire à pied ou en vélos

• Ismail (8/5): - Nous n’avons passé qu’une courte nuit dans cet établissement, nous faisions un arrêt à La Rochelle sur la route, la chambre était relativement petite mais correspondait à nos attentes, sa situation géographique était idéale, la chambre était propre et plaisante, 3ème étage sans ascenseur. Nous n’avons pas pris le petit déjeuner. Le staff était sympathique et accueillant, le propriétaire des lieux étaient adorable et joviale, il est pour sûr une valeur ajoutée importante à cet établissement correspondant aux attentes portées.

L'accueil est très agréable , le petit déjeuner tout à fait correct pour 10 €, le calme et la propreté générale font de cet hôtel un rapport qualité -prix très intéressant. • 250mjr (8/5): Friendly little hotel - Really genuine friendly staff who wanted to make our stay the best. Small room and no air con but provided a fan as it was very hot. Breakfast lovely. 2 minutes walk to seafront, easy walk to town and 15 minutes to bus station. Very handy for airport. Quiet road.

Le petit plus : départ jogging à seulement 200 m de l'hôtel, plusieurs kilomètres de sentier du littoral rochelais (direction La Pallice) empruntable sans être gêné par des véhicules... (splendide sortie sportive) !

Urgent improvements to safety needed! - I would not advise this hotel, close to the city's casino, to women travelling alone if the following measures are not implemented: 1) keep the reception open at night (currently, it closes at 8pm): I spent there 3 nights. On the first and third night, I had very unfortunate episodes that could have been better dealt with, or avoided, if there was someone at the reception (see story below). 2) reinforce the illumination (currently, lights switch on through an automatic system. As a results, you are in deep dark until you reach the foto cells). Here is my story: On my way to reach the Velodissey ciclyng path, I stopped at this hotel recommended to cyclists. Indeed, this little hotel has a courtyard where bikes can be parked. With no stairs on the way, this is quite confortable. I arrived at the hotel around 9pm. The reception, as announced by the Hotel, was closed. I went through the entrance to park my bike: the light were quite low and, in the courtyard, it took some time before they switched on, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Anyhow, I went to my room on the 3rd floor, little but clean and again, I had to remark the very weak light in the corridor..nevertheless, the room was ok so I was happy and at 11pm went to sleep...It was at around 1am when someone started knocking at my door. I stayed quite for a moment (was I dreaming?), the person knocked again with insistence and quite strongly. I kept quite (it is maybe a mistake). After a while, I asked: " who is there?" the answer was "the reception, open!". Knowing that this could not be true, I asked the person to leave immediately and that any matters will be resolved in the morning. After a while, the person left. I was clearly quite nervous (what if the person would come back and try to enter the room?) and called immediately the reception number I was given. The owner of the hotel answered immediately and said that he was already at the hotel. He said that the person simply went to the wrong room. I insisted that this was not true as he pretended to be the reception so he was lying. At that point, I asked the manager if he could reassure me that the situation was under control or if I had to leave the hotel and find myself another place to stay. His answer was on the line ... Well I'm here dealing with the man but if you want to go, go... Great to hear that at 2am! It was a night with no sleep! The day after, I asked to change the room: what if the person comes back... I was offered a room on the same floor or a bigger on the ground floor. I went for the one on the ground floor as the area had a better lights and easy to get out of the room on case of trouble. As it was bigger, I had to pay around 15 euro more. Which I did. Now, I felt that they could have offered me a better accommodation for free given that the first night I could not sleep at all and the change was not a 'caprice' but due to security reason. The second night went well. The third and last one, in the middle of the night, the telephone of the reception started ringing incessantly. In the room, I waked up as the reception was just outside (so,do not take that room if you want to sleep). At a certain point, the telephone stopped and someone started punching at the front door of the hotel. My room being on the ground floor and only fees meters away from the entrance door, I could hear all that! If someone would have been at the reception, the issue could have been sorted out. Another night with no sleep. As I had to leave at 7am the day after and the reception opens at 8am, I left the hotel without informing the hotel staff about this second unfortunate episode (2 in a 3 nights stay, quite remarkable). To sum up: 1) it is clear that due to your position close to the casino, you may have some complicated clients: you need to have someone at the reception at night. 2) please improve the illumination. If measure 1 is taken, you may skip this.
• 593ianv (8/5): Good value - Clean, comfortable bed, friendly and good value. The room was small but adequate. The young lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. A note of caution, don’t arrive late as reception is only available during normal business hours. I am happy to recommend this hotel to travellers looking for a good deal.
• DocG66 (10/5): Charming friendly hotel - The rooms are small and the stairs are quite steep but this is a lovely, clean, well positioned and friendly hotel. They have two bicycles which guests can use too. Our second stay. The reception staff are absolutely charming. The breakfast, very nice. Do let the staff know in good time if you want to have breakfast, as food is bought in fresh each day. A great place to stay. Merci beaucoup!
• Lams1 (10/5): Simple but good - Simple but good hotel in the outskirts of La Rochelle. The rooms are simple but the bed was really good! Nicely situated a 10 minutes walk from the city center. Free parking on the street outside the hotel. Ok breakfast - I would recommend to have it as you need to do a little walk to get to other places to eat.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Ok hotel, rooms clean and functional. 3 floors with steep stairs and no lift we were on 3rd floor with heavy cases. No area to sit outside, next door to casino so good if you are wanting to go there, short walk to town.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Loin du centre - L'hôtel est à 20 minutes à pied du centre, pas d'ascenseur et pas de climatisation, les chambres sont minuscules et malgré le fait qu'il indique qu'il y ait un stationnement, c'est les places dans la rue qui sont plutôt rares... Nous étions au 3e étage, c'était littéralement un four et plus on monte plus les escaliers sont étroits, difficile de monter avec de grosses valises. Par contre, le lit était très confortable.
• gaelle (6/5): peut mieux faire - j'ai choisi cet hotel car il était noté qu'il y avait des vélos prêtés par l'hôtel. Quand nous avons demandé à la réception, on nous a dit que les vélos n'étaient plus prêtés mais loués depuis l'année dernière ! Le petit déjeuner est bien mais cher. 10 € par personne et par jour. le ménage n'est pas fait tous les jours.
• Tom (8/5): - Staff I must say were very friendly. The ony problem was our room was up in the 3rd floor. Also the toilet seat was loose and coming off. We asked to be moved but were told that this would cost an additional 20e per night. They said we had picked a cheap room. However Hotels.com did not say anythig about being in a room on the 3rd floor with no lift. I would not have booked if I had known that. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

Accueil, propreté, proximité des lieux d'intérêt, calme, stationnement facile dans la rue, petit déjeuner très varié avec des spécialités maison. Chambre de taille correcte mais laissant peu de place pour les bagages (seul bémol). Nous avions réservé au 3 ème étage et on nous a gentiment proposé de nous installer au second. Pas d'ascenseur mais des chambres au rez-de-chaussée sont proposées. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir lors de passages dans la région. Merci au personnel de l'hôtel pour leur efficacité et leur gentillesse.

Didn't have breakfast here but it was offered at an extra charge. Manager recommended a fabulous restaurant, La part des anges, really reasonable and fantastic food and service......a real must!

We received a very warm welcome from the owner who spent time with us detailing the sights of the town and recommending a local restaurant . The room was quite small but more than adequate for our needs. Breakfast was traditional French.

• whitesheilagh (10/5): Don't be put off...... - .......by the fact this little family run hotel has only two stars. It is located on a relatively quiet road near the front, come out of the hotel, turn left and within a hundred yards you get to the concurrence beach - from there you can walk along the promenade for about 10 minutes in to the town centre. Free parking is available on all the streets around the hotel. The rooms are small - my friend and I each had our own double room - but they are spotlessly clean and pleasantly decorated, and the bathrooms have been modernised fairly recently and have been tastefully done. Breakfast is served in a bright airy ground floor room and consists of cereals, croissants, a selection of breads and cheeses and jams/marmalades/local honey, yoghurts, fruit, coffee and different teas. The owners can't do enough to ensure their guests have an enjoyable experience in La Rochelle, they are very helpful with maps, suggestions for eating out and places to see and shopping areas etc. We thought this hotel was excellent value for money, we enjoyed the wander along the front in to the town, and would recommend it to anybody who doesn't want to pay a fortune but be assured of a spotlessly clean and well run little hotel.

• anniecrissan (10/5): Great friendly family owned hotel downtown - We stayed here for only one night. But we were very happy to be there . A great location minutes walk from downtown and we were able to park right outside all day for free. Rooms are small with nice big windows to open. Great breakfast with homemade touches.
• stevew538 (8/5): Very pleasant stay - When we checked in the place was deserted but we finally spotted the note with the contact number. The manager arrived and let us in. The we had no lift and three flights of stairs and massive bags...that is the end of the complaining. The manager was very helpful and gave us a quick orientation of La Rochelle. Very helpful. The wifi worked well, the breakfast was more than adequate and the hotel; location is excellent, close to the gardens and the port..

• Tomar98 (8/5): Nice hotel, Good location - A very nice hotel located within walking distance of the harbor and old town. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is available for a fee, but we ate in town. Ample free parking on the street outside the hotel. Rooms were very clean with ample space. Only negative is that there is no elevator, but we got our luggage up and down the stairs without too much trouble or effort. Old town and harbor are worth a visit. A lot of good restaurants in the harbor area.

• Tom (10/5): Nice hotel close to harbor. - The Accostage is a short walk from the La Rochelle harbor and old town. Free, on-street parking is available with some spaces right in front of the hotel. The hotel itself appears relatively new and was very clean. The rooms are small, but quite adequate. There is no elevator, but stairs are wide enough to permit easy carrying of luggage (except for the flight to the 3rd floor which are somewhat narrow). Breakfast is an extra 9€, but walking into the old town for breakfast only takes 10 minutes. Overall, the Accostage is a nice, quiet hotel, reasonably priced in a good location.
• moose83L (8/5): Nice hotel. Good location - Nice clean room, we had a nice view over la Rochelle. Only a 5 minute walk into.town. No parking but found a space on the street opposite easily. Didn't have the breakfast but there is one available at extra cost. All round a good value hotel.
• tonikb39 (6/5): Was ok for a stop over - Good location but.... We had a motorbike and had to carry all our "stuff" up and down 3 flights of stairs. More like a hostal than an hotel, wouldn't stay again, but that could just be us! La Rochelle is gorgeous though!! Didn't try breakfast so I can't comment. The room was small, so therefore the bed was small, the bathroom was small but well equipped, nice shower, just not what we expected!
• Tom-Karlien (8/5): Small but beautiful - We had a very nice stay and felt directly at home in La Rochelle. Walking distance towards the city centre about 5/10 min max. Nicely decorated hotel in a safe area of La Rochelle near the sea and city centre. Bikes available. Very friendly staff, good breakfast.
• Paul (6/5): Convienient and clean - Stayed just one night. Was able to park our car on the street at no charge. Receptionist friendly and spoke English. Nice walk to the city's centre historique. There is no lift, so could be difficult for elderly or people with a lot of luggage although the receptionist (female) offered to help with our bags. We did not have breakfast so can not comment. Wifi reception ok in the ground level lobby. Overall a pleasant stay.

• Sophie (10/5): Very nice hotel next to the center. Free parking. - This hotel is in a very quiet street where you can park you car safely and for free for your all stay . Breakfast is home made therefore delicious. Good choice including fresh bread, croissants and cheese !! The staff is working very hard and everybody is very nice and helpful if you need help for the attractions and directions. The Casino is 3 minutes away... The beach and restaurants are very close too. I certainly will go back to the hotel because you feel at home and it is extremely clean and the beds are soon comfortable. If you are not a couple travelling but still two I would recommend room number 1. Enjoy your stay at the hotel Accostage !
• Bob (8/5): Good location, good value, great staff! - We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is fairly priced and a great location. Alexis was honest and helpfull with his advice. E.g. "You can have breakfast here or maybe you can go closer to the beach in the morning and have a similar priced breakfast with a better view!" As tourist we appreciated his advice regarding places to see ...and he provided bikes for a great ride along the coast. The hotel was clean and value for the cost.The hotel was as we expected. The staff were better!
• Renata (10/5): Beautiful hotel in the great location, real germ. - I simply found it hard to believe this hotel has got 2 star rating, it's absolutely beautiful, staff were really friendly and helpful and the location is very near the port and beach yet in a quiet location.
• Michael (8/5): Nice Little Gem - Slightly further out of town than we expected but a pleasant walk in all the same. Good 10 min walk. This room felt brand new and the facilities are all excellent. One slight problem may be night time ventilation as the only way we could get any was if we left the door open ! Safe environment though. No a/c.

Small friendly hotel, rooms rather small but very clean. No air conditioning but luckily the weather was not to hot. Really good french breakfast with homemade cakes. Good value.

• Mr and Mrs (8/5): Lovely little hotel in a great quiet location - We arrived late at the hotel and the staff had left our key behind the desk, which was great. It was easy to find and on a quiet street. Ample street parking. Our room was small but had everything you needed. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and this was lovely, fresh bread and pastries, jams and fruit, local cheeses and hams. We got taking to the owner who speaks excellent English. He showed us on the map where to walk into La Rochelle and what to see and do. It was a lovely walk (about 10 min) either through a park or along the seafront. We had a great day in the town. Would recommend the Aquarium and eating at the aquarium restaurant, brilliant view and excellent food. We went to the casino, just down the road from the hotel which was nice, had a bar and restaurant overlooking the sea.
• John (10/5): A lovely oasis, & easy to get to town - Simple, clean, professionally run property, with great owners (Alexis & his wife) who are always willing to assist. Lots of little innovations, like the wifi, the map of La Rochelle all over one wall, the availability of a few bikes, and more. The hotel is just out of town, but close enough for a pleasant stroll in via a street full of trees and grass - lovely. We'll be back!!
