Guest Reviews
- Tim (10/5): Would highly recommend for people doing the Thames path as a good overnight facility to get refreshe - Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and helpful. Comfortable bed and great night sleep. Great shower. Very nice food available, breakfast was enjoyable. Would recommend and stay again. Some areas were a little tired, furnishings and carpets but did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the stay. Friendliness of staff, comfort of sleep and wash facilities along with good food made it a recommendable stay.
- Kailin (9/5): - Friendly staff, nice room, very convenient location, good food
- Ian (7/5): - Food was interesting and well presented ,better than I was expecting for this level of hotel Wasn't sure whether it might be noisy if really busy as the drive for the car park passes the rooms
- Asia (10/5): - Very comfortable and super friendly staff! Plenty of on-sight parking and i loved the rest areas by the marina. Small little town with lots to do and explore. Very central to Swindon and the air base.
- Michael (9/5): - Nice old coach house type Hotel with a busy town at the front and the River Thames at the rear. Lovely staff, very nice food and a nice bar area with Sky Sports. Room was clean, warm & tidy with a fantastic free standing bath. If anything, the room was too warm.
- PeterTwigt (10/5): Amazing - The location is great and easy to find and it is a great place to stay and explore the Cotswalts. Private parking behind the hotel and that borders to the river Thames just acros a large playfield area which is lovely in the summer to spend time. Reception was very helpfull and communication was perfect. The building was build in 1754 and that gives it so much caracter. In the front there is the hotelpub where you can get a drink and have a chat with the locals. In the back there is the dining area and that suprised me completly. The food in this hotel was really something amazing and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. Hotelfood is most of the time something to argue over, but this was exceptional. I really can not think of anything. Well the weather could have been a bit better, but I am afraid that is a bit out of their control.

- Krijn (7/5): Gewoon goed.

- Chantal (3/5): - Location was good. Breakfast mediocre. Staff were very friendly Bad smell in room/bathroom. Had to leave window open. Floor very uneven in places. Had to ask for an extra towel. Bathroom wasnt clean at all during our stay. Our room No 36 was opposite the hotel/restaurant entrance so was bit noisy late at night/early morning.
- Baker (10/5): An excellent 2 night break; just what we needed. - Excellent food - a very imaginative chef, yet not twee.
Both breakfast and dinner, with vegetarian options.
Very helpful staff, without being over the top.
Family business, not a chain. Fairtrade and decaf tea in the room.
- Steven (10/5): Delightful - Breakfast cooked to order, better than the buffets that most hotels have.
Old fashioned charm and quirky building
Evening meals were excellent standard pub grub style.
Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel made a mistake with our booking and asked my elderly parents to move room.
A little arm twisting required for a complimentary bottle of wine to be offered. Made up for the inconvenience, worked out happily in the end.
- Matthew (6/5): Ok for location, otherwise slightly disappointing. - Good Location with a comfy bed. The room was rather run down and generally a bit grubby. EV charger was unfortunately out of use as someone stayed plugged in for around 18 hours and the other spot was taken by a Non EV vehicle!
- Fiona (6/5): -
- McCrossan (10/5): Very nice would stay there again - Lovely hotel staff were very helpful, the room was nice and clean but could have done with more storage, the bathroom was big but again nowhere to put your toiletries even a shelf would have been helpful Lack of storage
- David (8/5): -
- Timur (8/5): -
- Norton (7/5): Appreciated the staff very much. - It was a bit old and my room was small but the shower was great and the food was better than I expected. I really liked the staff more than anything. Very kindly and responsive. It’s an old building, with the quirks of an old building.
- Wolf-D. (10/5): -
- Jeff (8/5): A Friendly Privately Owned Hotel, Restaurant and Public House - Check in was well handled and they had responded to our delayed arrival time notification.
- Starmer (8/5): Comfortable, affordable with a convenient location and great staff - The staff at the New Inn were incredibly welcoming and helpful, leaving us feeling welcomed from the very start. It's in a great location with it's own parking, so it's a great base to explore the local area from. We saw a number of cyclists in the town and it would be great place to stay if you're looking to get out and about in the Cotwolds. The rooms are basic but comfortable. It was great for what we needed and at an affordable price. The room only has blinds at the window, so it got very light around dawn.
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely Old Building, friendly staff, great facilities, fabulous location. Can't think of anything.
- Andrew (10/5): - Very friendly staff and great location. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent, my son said it was the best gravy he had ever had! Nothing, everything was great
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Very friendly staff and owner who took our bags up to our room. The food was excellent , both our evening meal and very generous breakfast. Nothing
- helen (6/5): will not be staying again - the property is in a lovely location and easy to reach lots of the lovely cotswolds The room was very tired and basic, very poor soundproofing and the staff didnt seem to worry about guests, as many staff shouting to each other on both morning woke us up.
it also wasn’t a warm welcome from staff
they also didn’t mind putting mounds of dirty washing outside of our room
breakfast basic, but ok if included in the price. £5 for a bowl of cereals is steep!
- Edeltraut (10/5): - Great authentic location in a historical building and stunning landscape around. Excellent food and service in the very nice the restaurant of the hotel, great breakfast as well. We enjoyed everything of our stay. Nothing at all.
Rien
- Kirk (10/5): Just what we were looking for, comfortable and ideal for a short stay. - Wonderful location on the River Thames and central to the picturesque, historic small town of Lechlade. Lovely vegetarian breakfast, and extremely comfortable beds and great rooms. Ample private parking, amazingly friendly and accommodating staff. Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): - Very cozy :)
- Les (7/5): -
- Mark (6/5): Nice place but didnt get what we booked. - Rooms where quite nice and nicely laid out outside. We booked 3 seperate double bedrooms and 2 of them were twin singles. We got told to just push the beds together and that they class them as the same for single people per room. This seems unacceptable if we specifically booked double beds. They should have been set out as double beds before we arrives with appropriate duvets ect. The hotel then seemed to have not been too bothered because of the price we paid. Said we got a good deal so they dodidjt want to sort this out for us.
- Joshua (7/5): Great value for money Cotswolds stay - The newly renovated rooms are well done and the staff were wonderful. The room we had was at the front of the hotel (facing the road) and you do hear everything outside as it's only single glazed (and historic!), it wasn't a problem after around 10pm as there was very little traffic, but if I had to pick one thing I would improve it would be that.
- melanie (9/5): Highly recommend this hotel for a Cotswolds adventure - Fabulous food, central location- friendly staff, free parking on the Thames - would definitely stay again Loved it all
- Suzanne (10/5): Perfect accommodation for our walking trip. - Helpfulness of the manager and staff. Great breakfast and dinner. The ability to book rooms with single beds.
- Heather (8/5): lovely quirky and unpretentious old inn, comfortable rooms, excellent food and service - Great location on Thames Path, lovely quirky and unpretentious old inn, comfortable rooms, excellent food and service. All was fine
- Lacey (10/5): - New inn hotel was a simple yet comfortable stay. The staff were super friendly and remembered all our excursions and asked about them when we were done! They were the nicest people. The hotel is very bustley with travelers and locals which gave it a very authentic feel rather than super touristy. Our group really liked that at the end of our very touristy European vacation. Half our group stayed in the courtside room which was very busy outside with folks having pints and food. We liked the activity a lot. The other half stayed inside the inn. It was very quiet for them. Thank you New Inn Hotel!!
- Ben (9/5): A very good weekend stay. - The room was bigger than we expected, and comfortable, with a generous-sized bathroom. All the meals were good and the staff were excellent the whole three days. All good
- Juliet (9/5): - Wonderful location
Friendly staff
- Norma (10/5): Excellent - An excellent find. Location was very good. We liked everything about the property
- john (8/5): happy to stay again as the things I value were done well - grest staff. very nice restaurant. lovely food. Feel of traditional inn My room needed a revamp.
- Christopher (9/5): Bar and restaurant staff were delightful. - Great location, really pleasant staff, excellent food in the restaurant. One of our party in room 24 was kept awake by noise in the room and when he complained was told noone else had ever complained. Not good. And they would not give him a different room. Beware room 24.
- Joy (10/5): A very relaxing break and would highly recommend - Ample parking. Cheerful and very helpful team members, especially Simon on reception. Food was served with a smile and checked back on to insure we were happy.
- Paul (10/5): -
- PETER (7/5): -
- Pieter (8/5): -
- Alan (8/5): - Restaurant
Room facilities
Location Noisy
Guests talking late into the night, just outside the room.
- JeffTaylor (9/5): - The location was great not far from the Thames path. The reception & staff were great & and the food to die for. Nothing. It was a great stay for walking the Thames path
- Darren (10/5): We can thoroughly recommended a stay at the New Inn Hotel - An excellent location and wonderful staff. Great food, room(12) and value for money! Nothing
- Eric (10/5): Great hotel in a good location will be back - Turned up at reception and Simon the gm/owner his first words were would you like a free upgrade, yes please thank you very much. Very good hotel good food and selection of draupht beers and lagers. The food in the evening was great and the breakfast was the same very tasty.we had court yard rooms. Very comfortable and spacious.
Will certainly use the hotel again. Very safe parking was a great bonus as we were on motor bikes.
- Georgina (10/5): Hidden gem - Excellent location, exceptional food, really friendly staff and amazing atmosphere. EV charging points was a great bonus too - would highly recommend and will most definitely be back
- susan (7/5): -
- Claire (8/5): -
- Easton (7/5): - Location Noise from road
- Mark (7/5): The staff were welcoming and the bedroom was clean. Breakfast was good. - Central location, clean and welcoming. It was good value for money.

- Frauke (10/5): Ein Wohlfühlort - Die Lage
- Annette (9/5): Heerlijk verblijf. - Sfeer en eten. -
- Kevin (10/5): - Ideal location, near Thames path for lovely walk along the river. Large car park, resturant and bar. Room was spacious clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly. If I had one small complaint it would be, that there are seating benches outside the rooms where people can sit and enjoy their drinks, however this can be quite loud and those that smoke the smoke can come into the room via open windows. However, when we stayed after about 9pm no one was sitting at the outside tables as it was cold.
- stephane (8/5): -
- Mike (7/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Injoyed,would go back - Food excellent,comfy bed.staff very nice.
- Jane (10/5): Wonderful! - The staff and the location , food and room were exceptionally . Would loved to stay longer. The food was amazing ! , hot and good portions . Would recommend the pie. Seriously gorgeous.
The breakfast was tasty, hot , and just wonderful.
I feel that this little gem should be recognised as an outstanding place to stay . We will be going back . Thank you to them for making my birthday special .
Right by the river , the shops and parking as well . What more do you need!
But one other thing to mention, the staff were friendly , helpful, could not do enough for us ! There was nothing not to like .
- Aaron (10/5): -
- christopher (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Very friendly staff.
- Dave (3/5): - The location The room was shabby in desperate need of refurbishment. Ensuite door lock was broken, Room was too small for two single beds. One was pushed up against a hot radiator. Ensuite bin broken and unusable. Definitely not worth the asking price
- Stanley (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - Staff very welcoming the court yard room was great especially with having a dog with me, the room was clean and comfy bed and lovely central location
- Inês (9/5): - Staff muito disponível e acolhedor. Quarto tinha sido renovado, muito confortável. Jantar estava delicioso! Nada a apontar
- Lawrence (10/5): A great stay at a charming coaching house on the Thames. - The room was big, quiet(with thick walls because it was a 17 th century coaching inn) and warm with a large operational radiator. It was extremely clean and decorated in a modern style.
The food in the restaurant was excellent ( well cooked and presented and tasty, generous portions).
There was free car parking at the back of the property which was very useful and a bonus.
The lawn at the back leads down to the Thames and will be great in the summer. There is no lift to the higher floors,, making carrying cases up stairs a little awkward, but this goes with the age of the building!
The breakfast was quite expensive but we didn't try it.
- Brian (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): -
- Johnson (10/5): Lechlade visit - Traditional and comfortable Nothing
- Rupert (10/5): - Comfortable and friendly
- Ian (9/5): -
- Katy (9/5): Great stay would come back 100% - The pubs /hotel was beautiful, with a gorgeous open fire which was very cosy. The staff were really friendly. Our room was nice and clean and nicely decorated. Lovely little view of the canal down at the bottom of the field near the rooms. Great location in the centre of town. Nothing to mention
- Emma (8/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Over all staff were excellent.just a shame about the anti behaviour and the heavy traffic . - The staff very helpful. Anti social behaviour out the hotel.
Couldn’t close the window.
Heavy traffic all night.
- Matthew (9/5): -
- Suzi (10/5): Superb. Great location. Fantastic food and hospitality in the pub. Private parking - Room was spacious, huge bathroom and shower facilities. Private car park, gorgeous view of the Thames. Fantastic evening meal and breakfast. Superb friendly staff Duvet and little thin but a blanket in the wardrobe was available. Windows were open so room was chilly to start with. Popped heating on whilst we ate and it was much nicer on our return
- Simon (4/5): - Location next t I the riverer Window covered with bin bag as no blind
No towels
No fan or air conditioning
- Sheelagh (4/5): Disappointing. Fabulous location. - The sheets and towels were clean The property is old (wonderful quirky building) but neglected and tired, the stairs, decor and room uninviting.
It was horrible.
The ironic thing is, I recognised the hotel as soon as I pulled up in the car park opposite and realised it was a hotel I stayed in some years ago when I met a friend. I remember thinking then that I would never go back and here I was in the same hotel in the same condition with the same grubby feel to it.
