Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - What I liked was Rubbs the onsite steakhouse.
What i didnt like was mice had torn into the furniture. The pool was a swamp, the mess hall cabin was closed. The outdoors activities were not washed off. And everything was over grown.
- Carla (10/5): Great stay - Nice place clean, very quiet, service good. We will stay again!
- Jason (10/5): Nature retreat 5 minutes from downtown Dells - Quiet, remote-feeling (yet less than 2 miles from downtown) retreat center set in a wooded valley. Felt like stepping into a different era, in all the good ways. Room was big and comfy and full of amenities. Grounds are extensive and naturally serene. Will stay again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I booked here on Expedia and when I got there I was told oh sorry we overlapped your room and had to cancel your reservation. He then told me I was notified by email. I was not. I did not get anything from either Expedia or this place. My kids and I had to park in their parking lot and search for a place to stay that night at 5pm. Now this is showing up on my bank statement so tomorrow I have to fight this charge with my bank.
Horrible service. Absolutely horrible.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The woodsy setting was peaceful. The room was very clean and had an electric fireplace (nice in a Wisconsin winter), a microwave, fridge and coffee maker with supplies. Nice sitting area with table and two chairs. In warm weather you can sit either on the front or back deck. Hope to stay there again.
- Sharalyn (4/5): Mice stay in rooms with you. - There was mice living in our hot tub cabin...when leaving we found mouse droppings in a few locations. While mentioning it to staff they really did not care or do anything to help with problem...i didn't even stay in this room the last nite because of problem.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was quaint and the room was clean. It did smell a bit like mold in the room and the walls did not absorb sound very well.
- Rach (6/5): - The grounds of the property is a throw back fantasy. It’s like you’re on the set of Dirty Dancing. Charming, vast, and green and lush. But the inside of the room we stayed in didn’t ’t have the same charm. It was basic, which is fine but the resort could really lean into the vintage vibe and have the rooms be throw back on purpose and that would be so cool. We had a good steak and nice service at the steak house. But the bartender never wore a mask. Only the server. It’s not hard to follow state mandate and wear a mask. People do it all day every day.
- eileen (10/5): - The place was beautiful. It was off the path and quiet. Some of the cabins could use a bit of help with the landscaping but I will definitely be staying there again.
- Jill (6/5): - I think this was “once” a wonderful resort. At this point it it’s tired old buildings and flowers getting strangled out by weeds. Our room smelled very musty, especially after it rained. The grounds were not very kept. I’m not sure anyone really worked in the “office”. It is situated in a wonderful setting-close to town, but far enough out for lots of serenity. It’s definitely NOT worth the money we spent.
- Amanda (8/5): - Stay at Silver Spruce for a sports tournament. Was pleasantly greeted by staff. Check in was easy. Room was comfortable. It was an extremely warm weekend - so very thankful for amazing air conditioning. Comparing this property to near by resorts, the price is definitely right. Off the beaten path, quiet, and clean. Needs a few updates with things such as the blinds were broken. Had to ask for soap to wash our hands. but overall a great stay.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Beautiful, peaceful property. Food at on-site restaurant was delicious! We hope to come back sometime!
- Dianne (8/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful with all the gardens. The rooms were outdated but clean. If youd like a peaceful getaway in a not so fancy place, Silver Spruce is the place. Rubbs Steakhouse, on the property, was delicious and had beautiful views from every table.
- Jenny (10/5): - This place is excellent if you are looking for a get away that is serene, yet also close enough to the fun activities in the dells. The staff is so kind and though the resort is small that makes the vacation that much better! Bugs can sometimes sneak their way into your room through an open door, but it is expected when you are surrounded by that much nature. Would for sure stay again! Thank you silver spruce ☺️
- Larry (10/5): Quite place - Place is so quite and hidden perfect for get away
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Decent place. But, resort is a misnomer. And, from reading other reviews, it feels like people landed there with high expectations of a resort. It is a cabin within amenities. It was clean. It's pet free. It has a restaurant/bar in the location but a bit pricey. The downtown is less than 5 minutes away.
- Gerry (8/5): - Good food, great service! Super friendly staff made our stay a nice one. The property is old and showing it. It was clean, but it did not look very good at first glance. Would definitely stay again, but not a great first impression.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Apparently what you pay for is what you get. Close to Woodside Sports Complex and cheaper than Chula Vista.
- Mom (8/5): - Property is very pretty but a bit overgrown-- needed a fresh cut around the flowers and plants as they covered most of the walkways. The firepit area and surrounding cabins were very nice and rustic. Neither the tennis court or basketball court is usable so don't expect any sporting activities during your stay.
Check in is located in the restaurant which doesn't open until noon or 4 depending on the day. We arrived early and were thankful to check in early but it was difficult to find anyone to help us. However, once found, the manager was very nice, pleasant and helpful.
Cabin was nice and reminded me or hanging with friends up north-- mismatched furniture, older model microwave and window treatments my Grandma would love! Cabin was clean, cozy and had everything we needed for our 2 day stay.
- William (2/5): Not a Resort - The room was outdated which would not have been a problem if it was clean and comfortable. The pillows were flat and hard, in the mattress you could feel the springs and the sheets were stained and thin. The room smelt very musty and mildewed. We were there for three nights and the room was never serviced. The grounds and location have so much potential and there is just no effort in keeping the place up. The pictures on there website were deceiving. Wouldn’t stay here again or recommend to anyone.
- Robert (10/5): - Great spot, close to everything yet very much in nature
- Marion (10/5): The Silver Spruce Resort is a gem. - The Silver Spruce Resort is a gem. Tucked away from the crowds and excitement of Wisconsin Dells, this throwback resort is a peaceful hideaway. The staff members and helpful and attentive and take pride in this little slice of heaven. The on-site restaurant is great! We will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner is great. Was able to check in 4 hours before required on a busy 4th of July weekend. Room could be cleaner. Close to downtown Dells.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely - Lovely, cozy, peaceful, comfortable, affordable, friendly!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is wonderful, somewhat isolated from the noise and crowds at the Dells. Very quiet and peaceful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This resort was just a short walk to the Wisconsin Dells Center Dome, which was our destination for a big athletic event that our boys were involved with. The resort is older and the cabins are simple and nice with hotel room accommodations. The staff was AMAZING and so accommodating! We really felt like we were part of the family. The food at the steak house was delicious as well. This is where we will stay if we come back to the area! Simple, nice, and low key! BTW... after our boys were done competing they had fun running around the grounds and just being kids!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hidden gem. Will jave to come back when the weather is nicer
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s like taking a step back in time. The property is quaint and very neat. The location is to the Dells is perfect without all of the hustle and bustle of the large waterpark hotels or the downtown area. We’ve already recommended it to our friends.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There is an on site restaurant name Rubbs. It was excellent. There is a pool, fire pits, barbeque, fireplace, trails, volleyball, and much more. Very pleasant staff. Great for family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owner of resort was extremely helpful and very friendly!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Recommend summer fall best stays - Time of year makes difference but I can see the restaurant, pool, volleyball, fire pit, barbeque, hiking trails as being high on outdoor activities. Great place family.
- Nancy B. (6/5): Quiet - This property has the potential to be brought back to its original splendour. Our room had just been remodeled and was great value for the monet. The outdoor pool is huge and clean. The gardens need a deducated groundskeeper. We liked being on the quiet edge of Wisc Dells!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good
- Jennifer (6/5): - This is a beautiful spot with very cute cottages as rooms, the rooms we stayed in were pretty run down though. The restaurant was great, the pool was fantastic - we had it to ourselves, there was firewood provided for the firepits at night. The downsides were the towels were raggedy and smelled of mildew and the pillows themselves were pretty smelly, although the pillow covers seemed clean. All in all it was a good place but I would only go back if the towels and pillows were updated.
- TJ (8/5): - Wanted a place away from the Dells traffic, waterparks hysteria and this delivered. Quiet cabins/rooms surrounding a bar/restaurant at the near the end of River Road north of the Dells. But still within a 5 minute drive of activities. Check in was quick/easy, the owner (or one of them) lives on the property. Room was a bit dated and the mattress was stiff as a board but overall, everything was clean and well kept. Morning of our stay, we watched a mother turkey leading her flock over the hill behind our room and into the forest. You're not going to see that at a waterpark.
- Timothy (8/5): - The property was nice and secluded. The bathroom and the towels were clean but needed to be updated
- Wanda (8/5): Nature at it's best - It was a nice location. Checking in was "strange" since you have to go into the restaurant and stand by the counter. If I was on hunting or fishing trip, I think the room would have been perfect. I just wanted a little more for this vacation.
- Verified traveler (2/5): There's better in the area for the same money - All the fixtures in the room were falling apart. A/C unit circa 1985, Refridgerator circa 1980, the floor joists must be rotting because the floor slopes hard. Nice location and place has great potential just very rundown at this point in time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint, small, and quiet location away from the busy waterpark commotion.
- Baldemar (6/5): The best part was the resident labrador, Tika - The hotel is smack in the middle of the woods. When we arrived at 10pm, the private road off the main road looks like a setup for a scary movie. But once at the site, everything is lit up. The hotel host was very nice and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean. They have friendly dog named Tika who roams freely around the parking lot, that is really cool.
- Greg (8/5): - absolutely beautiful property. quiet, peaceful, lots of room to hike the property. A good way to escape the crowded Dells.
- robert c. (10/5): Great restaurant/resort combo. - Had a great stay. The owner was very friendly and the restaurant was very good. We ate there 3 times over the weekend. Very good drinks, salad bar and dinner. We will stay here again.
- Mr. Safety (8/5): Business Stay. - Though the room was dated, it was comfortable. Staff was great!
- Mike (8/5): Relaxing in the Woods - Comfortable and quiet. Nice place to recharge and relax, and restaurant food is excellent.
- Al (8/5): Quick stop - Just passing thru. A great deal for overnight. Enjoyed the electric fireplace in the room. Will stop back when have more time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was a very nice day room was well kept up on her was very nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and it was nice and peaceful. We enjoyed the room and they king size bed was pretty comfy. We would definitely stay her of the beaten path rather at one of the water park hotels.
- Shawntelle (8/5): Weekend Get away. - My husband and I enjoyed a weekend getaway. The hotel was clean and in a lovely area . The beds however were hard and the bath tub drain didnt work properly. The restaurant was very nice . Food and service was wonderful. The tv didnt get any good channels. Its nice for a one night stay. Would consider coming back but beds need upgraded.
- S. (6/5): Close to Wisconsin Dells - Staff was very accomodating, but unfortunately the beds, and even the easy chairs were very uncomfortable and dated. The overall look of the room was dated, but that would have not been a big deal given our short stay, but the comfort was the deal breaker. We were disappointed in the 'Resort' title.
- SAMANTHA (10/5): Great find - Great little spot close to the Dells but not right in there. I was looking for a place without the traffic and crowds and this was a great spot.
