Guest Reviews
- Nolan (9/5): Fantastic and beautiful - Beautiful rooms, what you'd expect for the name of the hotel ! Very clean and great to stay. Room was a little bit small
- Charlotte (10/5): Quick and easy - Clean, easy check in and check out, close to everything in Salida The check in itself is a little weird, kind of like a drive in
- Miller (10/5): - The location, decor, and hospitality the shower needs some maintaining, but is super clean and well decorated
- fabienne (10/5): - Le côté Vintage et les couleurs pastel donnent une impression de zenitude Rien
- Srilata (8/5): - Cute, retro vibe. Bathroom had a timer on the wall but it did not seem to connected to a heater, so it was very cold. Rooms very very snug, could not open suitcases comfortably.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Had a very pleasant stay. The first night I had a small issue with the room I was in, and the staff came over, assessed the situation, and moved me to a new room. The remainder of my stay was perfect. I love all the nice little touches the rooms have with decor and everything you need. The grab and go breakfast was nice to have, and the location is super easy for all things Salida and surrounding areas. Would definitely stay here again.
- william (10/5): Definitely stay there again and would advise anyone to stay there. - The whole experience of staying there, staff, room, location and the extras like breakfast Grab n Go which was superior to major national motel groups. Salida is fabulous
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Troye (10/5): -
- Ream (10/5): I enjoyed it very much - Cute, Comfortable, the rooms were very clean Nothing
- John (10/5): -
- Barry (1/5): - I booked through Booking.com, I'm pretty sure I booked a room with two beds, when I arrived there was only one bed in the room, They didn't have a room I could use so I canceled and because it was Booking.com I couldn't get a hold of anyone to discuss my refund once they swiped my credit card minutes before I cancelled and left the premises. Booking.com has been completely unresponsive to my email attempts to contact them and it's impossible to call them. Very dissapointing and frustrating. I got lodging on my own and will likely never use Booking.com again unless the situation is satisfactorily resolved.
- John (10/5): -
- Michelle (8/5): Fun, retro, clean and comfy - Super cute, retro and fun. The beds were so comfortable and very clean all around. Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Ashwin (10/5): -
- Stormy (3/5): Cute enough for the night. Wouldn’t stay again - Very cute. Niche. The niche-ness I liked was quickly ruined by the coke machine outside that didn’t work. The tv dint work at first but after we turned the heat on and let it warm up it was fine. But then the next morning the internet didn’t work. So it just was inconvenient. The shampoo and soap offered was not good, at all.
- Kathleen (5/5): - The property was nice and cute Shower was not clean and had dirty towels Had to use my own apps if you wanted to watch the TV
- Alena (6/5): Just OK - Location: The location right off of Highway 50 is handy to get to Monarch Mountain or to downtown Salida. It's about a 45-minute walk to downtown Salida, and you can cut down Holman to get to the Monarch Spur Trail to make your walk much more pleasant.
Clean: The room was super clean, especially the bathroom, which had been recently renovated/painted and was spotless. Disappointing Breakfast: I was disappointed in the "grab and go breakfast", which was really just gas station pre-packaged snacks. Having some fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas) and hardboiled eggs would have made the breakfast so much better. Also having the coffee available longer than the short window (like, 7am-10am?) would have been nice.
Smart TV & Wi-Fi was lacking: The room has a smart TV but no way to get local channels. So unless you have a Peacock subscription, you cannot watch the Olympics. The Wi-Fi was also horrendous, making watching the Smart TV nearly impossible, as it kept struggling with the connection.
Thin Walls: The walls to the room were paper thin and we could hear every word from our neighbors, and although there were many vacancies the weekend we visited, we had occupants on both sides of us. (Thankfully people were mostly respectful during sleeping hours.)
No Hot Tub: The lack of a hot tub was a real bummer, as most motels along this stretch have that amenity.
Cold Bathroom: Finally, the bathroom was freeeezing, as there is no heat in that room. There was a knob on the wall that seemed it was supposed to control a heat light in the ceiling or heated floors but did nothing when turned.
- Amy (9/5): -
- Vicky (10/5): Will go back. - Classic, decorated so cute and the cleanest place I have ever seen. WiFi was so-so, and TV show selection was sub par
- Marilyn (8/5): -
- Charles (9/5): Convenient and reasonable price - Nice refurbished rooms. A light on the walkway outside of the room I was in shined all night
- Taormina (9/5): - The location No microwave or coffee maker
- Martinez (10/5): - Super cute,super comfy,super clean
- Jane (9/5): - Very comfortable bed. Room was clean and updated. Good grab and go breakfast. Freezer compartment of fridge needed defrosting. My cooler ice packs wouldn't fit. Bathroom sink faucet sprayed a fine mist hitting things around the sink.
- W Timothy (8/5): Lovely stay preceded by Opening Day at Copper, just to catch some - Old layout and updated rooms with a fun Americana feel. It has an older bank style drive thru to check in. The homey feels of the snack room. Rainbow thoroughfare…but it’s Salida❤️
- Eric (9/5): Nice! - Everything! N/A
- Linda (9/5): - Simple. Workmanship is well done and the retro theme is quaint.
- Diana (4/5): Disappointing. Almost left early. Just needs some TLC - Good location, fair price, attractive decor Freezing bathroom, I think there was a ceiling heater that didn’t work. Not barefoot worthy floor. Spilt some water on bathroom floor, paper towel came up dirty. Wall heater filters were dirty.
- Kay (8/5): -
- Bush (8/5): - Very cute. Check in easy. Comfortable room. There was no hairdryer! Had to drive to Walmart to buy one. What hotel doesn't have a hairdryer? Shower curtain was gross.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- John (10/5): - Excellent staff & location. Very clean and nice The rooms drastically need blackout blinds! Otherwise it’s an amazing property
- eric (10/5): - Have been enjoying ACI for years
- William (10/5): - nice stay i enjoyed it
- Lisa (8/5): Very nice - We love the decor and the cleanliness and the location plenty of good restaurants around and right off the main highway to continue our trip the next day we especially loved the snack room to get some snacks for the road Our rooms sink water only came out as a little stream so the water pressure was not good at all. also, you have to let them know when you are going to be arriving because the front desk is not always manned..
- Joshua (10/5): - Room ambience was unique, 60s / 70s Americana. Location was convenient, staff was nice and accommodating.
Definitely recommend
- Kris (10/5): - Check in was so easy through the drive through. Very clean updated older motel. Would recommend it and would stay again. Loved their grab and go breakfast. Price very reasonably
- Nick (7/5): Good motel in Salida - Friendly staff. Got a slightly early check-in. Nice touches with some classic styling, e.g fridge and tissue dispenser! Location was a little out from the centre of Salida, about a 10 minute walk to a selection of restaurants, (including a decent Nepalese cafe)
- Rick (10/5): Very comfortable, very layed back not like the big chain hotels. - It’s just a cool place. Old hotel redone very nicely. Lots of little quirks and very clean. N/A
- Xiong (10/5): -
- Dennis (10/5): Great place to stay. - We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the room and saw how nicely it was decorated and so clean. Will definitely stay again if ever in the area.
- Christopher (10/5): - The place was clean and enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Lorna (8/5): -
- Philip (8/5): - I was quoted a price of all-in from Expedia but was charged a higher price upon checking in. What's up with that? I know it is a small amount, but I expect to pay the rate I originally booked.
- Sharald (10/5): - I have stayed here 2x now and love it. It’s clean and cute! I am a woman traveling by myself and I always feel safe sleeping here
Thx for the charming place to get a good nights sleep
- Amanda (7/5): - Owner did a good job updating the hotel and rooms. Cute and cozy for a roadside motel. pluming has not been updated, pipes were squeaky when having a shower depending which way you turned the temp. and the bottom of the tub filled up with water when showering. Toilets are also pretty tiny.
- Holly (9/5): - Cozy, clean, comfortable bed. The refrigerator was loud, and the wifi service was spotty.
- Robin (10/5): - I wasn’t expecting much from an older motel in small town. I was so wrong!!! This old retro motel is so cute! The rooms aren’t big and the breakfast isn’t much, but the whole place has been very well decorated in an retro style including an Adirondack chairs at each door, a nice outdoor grilling area and clean playground. Even the drive thru check in was easy, easy, easy. After checking in, head down to the Riverwalk on F Street. Wonderful stores including Ruby Blues - a secondhand, thrift store.
- Shelley (10/5): Book it - Such a fun place! So many personal touches. Lean and comfortable.
- Andrew (10/5): Motorcycle stop at American Classic Inn - Beautiful retro rooms and grounds. Staff was super friendly too. The breakfast snacks and coffee/tea were also a nice touch. My second stay here and I look forward to the next👍
- Alishia (8/5): - Motel is super cute and our room was the perfect size for two of us for one night on our road trip. Only a couple things would have made it better. The window really needs to have curtains that block out the sun. When you’re on vacation and drove for a long time, the last thing you want is to wake when the sun comes up. The room brightens up too much in the am. Would have been nice to have black out curtains to not be awaken at 0600. Also, the mattress is a bit too firm.
- Viki (10/5): - Cutest place to stay. It was a perfect evening we spent there and will stay again
- Morrison (9/5): -
- Craig (8/5): - Front desk girl, exceptional! Candy at check in is a nice surprise. Morning grab and go was well stocked. Room decor was cute.
- Christina (10/5): - We loved our overnight stay at this property! Check in was super easy didn’t even have to get out of the car! The room was clean, comfortable bed. Great selection of snacks, juice and coffee for breakfast. I do wish there was deadbolt or chain lock on the door but other than that it was perfect! Highly recommend especially for the price!
- Cindy (10/5): - Loved the ease of check in. Clean room.
Comfortable beds
- judy (7/5): - Though we were unaware until already checked in that no microwave was provided, restrictions prevented any warming or cooking of food, etc. we quickly adapted , concluding ultimately that this lodging was a delightful choice
- Corey (10/5): - Great spot for a one-night stay in Salida. Welcoming staff. Fun, vintage vibe in the room. Comfortable beds. No complaints. Would recommend to my friends.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was okay okay stay, Old motel - Rate is not worth the stay, Rooms are very small and bathrooms are super tight, They have done good job to renovate interiors, best would be to remove the carpets because that smell after sometime hits you. Overall stay was okay okay, I will try something else, more modern and spacious in same buck.
- Jody (7/5): - I think it’s very cute. A nice renovation of an old motel. The hours of service are limited. The grab and go breakfast was available only for a couple of hours and if the coffee was empty when you visited, that’s just your bad luck. It didn’t get refilled in time. The friends I traveled with did not jut have a coffee machine in their room, which I think is just a mistake. I think all rooms are supposed to have one. No one was available to help during the short times we were there and not out sightseeing. While I had no problems, my friends did and I felt embarrassed for recommending the motel.
- Nancy (7/5): -
- bill (8/5): - Older motor court that has been extensively updated with modern plumbing fixtures, lighting, TV & floor coverings. '50s decor is enjoyable (for those of us old enough to remember it). Essentially a small basic room but pleasant, clean and with simple take-away breakfast items. Would certainly stay here again.
- Debbie (10/5): - The 50's style decor with modern touches
- David (10/5): Nice rooms - Cutely appointed rooms, comfortable bed. Check in thru drive up window was easy and fast.
- Shanda (9/5): -
- Pablo (10/5): - No hay bien café. El snack área no funciona. No tiene agua.
- Goodhue (10/5): Was very happy with cleanliness. staff and location. - We road to Colorado on Motorcycle, was there for a wedding reception, found this motel exactly what we were hoping for and that the pictures showed. Maybe a little more selection for breakfast. Maybe some cereal.
- james (10/5): - great place brings back memories of the 60s and 70s when places like this were everywhere.will recomend this place to anyone i know headed this way
- Sabine (8/5): Sehr angenehm und sauber - Alles nett und neu renoviert - gemütlich und sauber. Sehr nettes Personal! Frühstück war jetzt nicht der Knaller aber für diesen Preis darf man nicht jammern…
- Bernard (10/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - pool not in seevice
- Claudia (10/5): - A unique place to stay
- Melissa (9/5): Definitely would book here again - Very clean. Was Leary when booking a"motel" but this place be far exceeded my expectations. The bed was a little uncomfortable and needed more pillows
- Linda (8/5): - This motel is a great find. The location is close to everything. The decorating is very cute and room was perfect for us. The only thing I would have liked is a deadbolt or similar on the door. The lock on door didn't feel very secure. Other than that, it was perfect. Highly recommend!
- Anna (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Very cute, fun breakfast to go items and coffee! Cute rotary phone in room. Half ply toilet paper, no Kleenex, no lamp by bed, tv didn’t work, soap was tiny block of sandpaper, shower didn’t drain, not worth the money to stay!
- Megan (10/5): - We love staying here!!!!
- Laura (10/5): - I liked the cute retro style and the staff who manage the place.
- Anne (7/5): Decent for a night but wouldn't stay there again. - It had cute furnishings and was clean Road noise, air conditioner was super loud, ran all night and we were still hot!
Breakfast was a joke. Basically non existent. There was coffee but no cups and no staff around to help!
- Kathy (10/5): Nice place to stay. Convenient to get to. - Very, very nice rooms. Very clean. Very helpful with check-in. Bed bit unconfortable.
- william (8/5): good enough. crappy wifi - staff is friendly enough. lousy wifi. wifi didn't work. it wouldn't seem difficult to provide decent wifi service.
- TRACI (8/5): Fun - A fun place to stay. Right on the main road so easy walk to a few businesses. Newly renovated with fun themes. Clean. Comfortable.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janis (10/5): Loved everything about. - Love the decor. Very clean and comfortable beds. The snack room was great for getting started in the morning. I’d definitely stay again and refer friends here Everything was perfect
- Mallory (2/5): - Cute property, but that’s where it ends. The manager/front desk attendant is there limited hours and unnecessarily rude. I only interacted with him at check-in, which was fine, and then when he approached my car.
I was scorned for not knowing I could just call him at his home quarters for a hairdryer that’s behind the front desk. I was made to read a scroll of rules at check-in, and that tidbit wasn’t listed anywhere. The manager told me that it was because I’d booked a “cheap room” and maybe I’d be more comfortable at a “corporate hotel” if I wanted a hair dryer. I stay in Salida weekly, in all of the other local hotels - hairdryers in all of them. Standard in the US.
The door is insecure - easily destructible frame, has no deadbolt or latch, hasn’t been wiped down since they painted it. Need a coffee maker? Sorry, just a useless retro tissue box cover and phone. Batteries dead in the remote, bathroom floor so sticky I had to wear shoes. Can deal with all of that, and did.
But the most concerning part? At 9:50a I was taking a call in my car in front of the hotel room, shortly after checking out early because I couldn’t get a good Internet connection. The manager/front desk attendant/now housekeeper approached my vehicle, had me roll down my window, and told me if I wasn’t off the parking lot by 10am, I’d be charged for another night, so I took the opp to ask ab the hairdryer. I had zero negative interactions with him prior. Please save your money and peace.
- Keith (10/5): - Old 50’s style but very clean and good smelling.
- Johanna (10/5): - I loved the attention to detail here. The fixtures in the bathroom right down to the hinges in the bathroom door were new and sparkly. Then the retro styling in the bedroom made me smile with every detail I noticed. The bed was comfy too.
The grab and go breakfast consisted of individually wrapped muffins, granola bars, mini donuts, and pop tarts. There were also small bottles of fruit juice drink and coffee/tea.
Outside offered a fun play structure for kiddies and a barbecue with a picnic table. A colorful place inside and out; we really enjoyed our stay.
- Eric (10/5): - Exactly what I was looking for. Clean, easy, no frills but has what you need
- Douglas (10/5): - Just what I was looking for
- Ian (10/5): - Ralph (front desk) was great, the rooms were inviting, and bed was comfy. Will be back for our next visit to Salida.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Nice, clean, quirky motel -- good place to crash for a night or two! - Cute little motel with a fun Americana theme: retro art, appliances (mini-fridge, phone, etc.), and nice Adirondack chairs outside every room! Solid assortment of pre-packaged snacks/pastries for breakfast. Friendly staff and free candy in the lobby! :) I never quite got the hang of the check-in/out process -- I think it was supposed to be a drive-through situation, but I didn't realize that so had to buzz the front desk guy to let me into the lobby so I could check in. Coffee in the snack room was weak, but that's to be expected for a motel!
- Vivian (10/5): - Clean and smelled good and the front office came to room to reboot the tv and put their password in to get connected!
- Melody (10/5): - A quick overnight stay in Salida and the American Classic was just what we needed. Clean room, a little
- Bridget (10/5): Fine but would be nice to have coffe and tea in the room . - No coffee in the room.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Easy check in, love the drive through. Room is nice. Love the retro fridge. Very clean and comfortable.
- Jason (10/5): - Adorable property, loved our stay, we will be back for sure!
- Larry (10/5): - This sink would not drain, the guy who checked me in came right over and had it fixed in no time, I appreciate that. I booked months in advance, it would have been better to have a room that wasn't the closet one to the main road. I will always stay here.
- Ann (9/5): We enjoyed our stay in this quiet classic motel. We’ve already recommended it to friends. - The retro update was charming and fun. Owners had put a lot of thought into comfort, convenience and extra amenities like the mini fridge. The room lacked a night stand per se, which is essential for my husband’s CPAP machine. Fortunately the room contained a cute little table and chairs, so we were able to move the table to accommodate.
- Robert (10/5): Grateful stay - Ot was comfortable qnd we like the antique decorations
