- Rosalie (3/5): Sucked - The room and bathroom was nice. The fact that we had to pay for our room twice because booking and the hotel didnt communicate. Luckily we did get a refund for one charge. You had to pay to park which I felt was just another grab for money. No free breakfast even though thats what we were told. Overall will not stay there again.

They worked to get us a voucher for breakfast because is was not included in our stay as stated on Booking.com. The room had a funny smell and there is NO breakfast included. Booking.com lists the property as breakfast included but this is not so.

- B7580IMmw (10/5): Great stay - We had a great stay at the Courtyard in downtown Charleston. The beds were comfy, there is 24 hour coffee, tea and water. There is a bistro on site which was very good - we had dinner there when we arrived. There is a Shoney's and a Wendy's walkable from the hotel. It was very nice to not have to drive anywhere after checking into the room. The laundry is free but you need to provide your own detergent. They have some for sale in the little marketplace at the front desk. The location is easy to access from the freeway. It is very close to the capitol building and civic center. We would stay here again.
- christina (4/5): Employees were rude and seem to hate their jobs it showed. - Close to entertainment Two employees were very rude and unkind. Keep saying my card was declined but apparently they didn’t even have the machine on to run my card and told me to move away from the counter another employee came over who was very sweet swipe it first time and it worked . First room we had had giant sweat body stain on the pull out bed was beyond gross. Highly doubtful I’ll stay here again those two rude employees honestly ruined our trip and experience.

However, this property would benefit from being refreshed, hence the rating. The room we stayed in was tired, and the tub shower definitely needed an update. Hopefully Marriott will put it on their list.

The thing that made me decide never again - the parking fee of $10 they must have recently added. The fee wasn't being charged by the hotel but by a company they must have contracted to do their parking lot.I parked in the hotel lot and didn't pay attention to the sign in the parking lot to pay a vendor to park there. They were full the night I stayed there , so maybe over 100 cars times $10. I received a note on my car in the morning. Why didn't they just add to the room price? What's next - they tow my car when I park in their lot?

It’s a bit frustrating to not be able to find anyone and I know that is pretty common these days. Our shower was pretty gross with mildew. Just a suggestion to cleaning crew to leave shower door open after cleaning to let air circulate and dry the shower out.

- davidlS9416BM (2/5): Fees fees fees. - Beware. Hotel now surprises you will 10 dollars a day parking fee. Also exhorbant fees attached to it. No attendant no security. More and more Marriott hotels. Raising fees etc to earn just little more while neglecting customers. As usual only one elevator works. That happens all the time. Many other hotels close by with better services. Do not stay here. This is not a resort. I expect soon they will add resort fees towel fees and the like.

Rooms are nice and comfortable as well as very clean. Hotel staff are all nice and especially Bobbie at the front desk. I needed to extend my stay and she was so kind and very helpful in getting me what I needed. It’s so nice to have such a professional caring person to take care of you in your time of need. It made coming back to the hotel every evening such a pleasure. I would stay here again because of her generosity.

- Eck_Diner (10/5): Reliability and Quality in Downtown Charleston, WV - I recently stayed here while traveling through WV on a road trip. It's a sparkling new property in downtown Charleston, which makes it something of a rarity. The hotel is conveniently located, with most amenities a short walk or drive away. I was also very impressed with the staff. During check-in, the front desk associate was friendly, engaging, and provided lots of helpful information. Later I realized there was a mix-up with a feather free room request and the manager addressed it immediately (and with sincere concern), making the situation right for everyone involved. Her professionalism was greatly appreciated! If you want to stay someplace where you know you'll be taken care of, you absolutely can't go wrong with the Downtown/Civic Center Courtyard.
