• klinl (10/5): Maraya Hotel took such wonderful care of my elderly parents! - Maraya Hotel took such wonderful care of my elderly parents during their 2-week stay. The rooms were clean, bright, and comfortable, but what really made the difference was the amazing staff. They were cheerful, patient, and went above and beyond daily—especially helping my dad with his walker and wheelchair to and from the car and room without fail. Truly outstanding service. Super highly recommended!
• Mike (4/5): - We don’t recommend this property for travelers who like to walk around the neighborhood and see the sites, as well as eat the local food. This is not available at this property. It’s isolated and remote. The traffic on the street in addition to no sidewalks makes it unsafe to, walk around in our opinion. If you’re coming to Chang Mai and want to enjoy the amazing city and what it has to offer, choose a location near or inside the gates of old town. Food is readily available on almost every block and Ally, with small and large temples scattered about The old town. This property is too far away and inconvenient to the old town, where all the action is. We do want to say that the young reception staff was amazing and tried to accommodate us when there was a booking flaw for our party, but the manager rescinded everything they did and made it harder for them as well as us having to wait 45 minutes to an hour longer for check-in. The end result is that we walked away from our nonrefundable reservations for two of the three days, for a better experience in Chiang Mai.

• Melanie (8/5): Lots of mosquitoes - Bring tons of mosquito repellent! Apply it especially during breakfast when you eat at the restaurant. Hotel should install a mosquito killer lamp or electric mosquito repellent to lessen those mosquitoes. Breakfast has 2 options - American and Thai. The staff will ask you for your choice of breakfast the night prior. Hotel location is about 10 mins from the airport but it is quite remote. There’s no convenience store nearby so you have to buy everything you need before you go back to the hotel. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Overall, hotel is ok only for short stay if you need to stay in Chiang Mai town proper for few days.
• PeeranatT4 (10/5): Highly suggested! - Beautiful and well-designed, the room is. spacious and cozy bed. The pool area offers a stunning view of the river and the white pagoda. Excellent location close to the night bazaar shopping and the Chiangmai airport. Highly suggested!
• bengb00nt (8/5): Maraya Hotel on the Ping River - This 6-year old hotel is situated on the left bank of the Ping River that snakes through Chiang Mai, and is about 12-15 minutes by car south-east of the Old Town. It is a smallish boutique hotel with only 18 rooms and suites. The rooms are fairly well-appointed and have most amenities required to make one's stay comfortable. The swimming pool area and the riverside garden are both charming and pleasant. The service standard is fantastic, with staff always ready to assist. Khun Praewa who seemed to be always about the hotel is an excellent help, with suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. She made our 6D/5N stay very memorable. There is free parking for 6 cars at the entrance of the hotel....first-come, first-served. About 90 metres away from the hotel on the same side of the road is a lovely restaurant called Paak Dang. We had all our dinners there! All said, a lovely property with an attentive service team. Please note though that there are no elevators for the two blocks of 3-storeyed buildings and thus, not convenient for persons with mobility challenges. There is a ramp from the parking area and is useful for prams and wheelchairs - there are several ground floor rooms. We look forward to staying here again.
• K8744OVjohnk (4/5): A very loud peace - Do not book here. I pre-paid for a 7 night rental and could not leave. Although the rooms are beautiful and modern, with great views of the Ping river, it all is negated by the relentless construction noise, coming from the restaurant remodel. It ruined my stay here. All day long, 7 days a week; hammers, buzz saws, loud noise from workers. Of course, no one told me of this when I booked or when I checked in. I soon found out. Also guests are reminded to wear masks, as I did, but 30% of the staff working did not. Curious. I do not recommend. You have been warned.

• Jazzy1995 (10/5): Wonderful stay at a stunning boutique resort! - I stayed here with 3 friends in January, and I really have no complaints at all. The hotel itself is a 10 min tuk-tuk journey outside of town, 15 mins from the airport, and perfect if you want to relax. Our rooms were very spacious and clean, bathroom was amazing, and the hotel kindly gave us adjoining rooms. The hotel complex itself is fairly small, but it's all you need. Cannot thank the staff enough, they were exceptional and made our stay extremely enjoyable. We basically had the hotel to ourselves!

• surachetsangdee (10/5): Lovely boutique resort - Lovely boutique resort in a hidden corner of Chiang Mai city. Good atmosphere of the riverside, beautiful garden, and great view of the pagoda. Room was wide and well decorated. Staff services were excellent.

The hotel was reasonably well located, short distance from the airport, and a 5 minute ride to the night bazaar/ 10 minutes to old town. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, our only issue was that our shower was cold 2 days of our stay, but the staff offered us an alternative room, but we chose to just use a shower from another room. The pool is lovely, and the garden area is very pretty, looking over the ping river. The restaurant serves a choice of set breakfasts in the morning but the staff were really helpful in preparing any of our requests. I would definitely recommend this hotel, we were made to feel very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

Loved the location also, close to town but far enough when you want to relax and not have all that noise this was the place to be. They also have free shuttle service that was nice to use. • dearn0 (10/5): Hidden treasure - As a group of 4 couples we stayed here for four nights we found this place after looking at 3 very expensive hotels which were a lot bigger but were no where as beautiful and luxurious as this place the others were old and very out dated..,then we found this beautiful place your own house would not be as lovey and beautiful as this . The grounds are magical with little quirky garden features and art beautiful landscape gardens and an amazing pool the breakfast was second to none cooked freshly as you order the food and the cocktails are to die for... the food menu is delicious and fresh.. the staff are amazing and couldn’t do enough for you.. I have to say we didn’t want to leave .. you will not be disappointed that is why I have given it 5 stars 🌟 I love 💕 this place

The lobby had a view overlooking the pool, river and an ancient pagoda. The hotel was small but very charming and riverside atmosphere was so relaxing. The room was nicely decorated, clean, and staff services were excellent. Breakfast by the river was great. Pool side view was amazing. Location was a bit out of city center but that gave more privacy. The hotel provided free shuttle services to city center three times daily but calling Grab was just a few pounds. It’s worth every penny of our money. Strongly recommended.

Breakfast served in set menu with full set and good quality. They even serve Pad Thai for breakfast. Strong Wifi signal. Location a bit out of town but not too far. Only 10 minutes from city center by Grab car. Staff services were excellent. Strongly recommended.

We are a little bit disappointing & this is the first time in 30 years of traveling that we were charged for bucket of ice, though it is not a bit deal but it should be part of the service. Also, the breakfast is a set menu not buffet breakfast as advertised. Hope the management would review these. My opinion is to help improving your client service so don’t take it to heart

• Jessica (8/5): Great hotel and staff, sub-par management - We enjoyed our stay here very much. The staff were kind and helpful. The food was good. The pool was great. We loved the room. The only thing I would mention is that we stayed here on our honeymoon and on check-in were told our room was upgraded for our honeymoon, but only if we left a review right at that moment in front of them and that they would then need to take a picture to send to their manager of the review. The thing is that we would have left a fabulous review had it not been for that insistence on leaving a review for an upgraded room. But the request to leave one, in front of them, in order to receive the room left a bad taste in our mouths. It makes you wonder if you can trust the other reviews. Again, I would have left a great review had it not been for that because we really did enjoy our stay.

• W4765DZsandram (4/5): Not a 4 star hotel - Location, price and service is definitely not 4 star, I would call this a 3 star hotel. This hotel is far from main markets and restaurants and even though they offer a shuttle it’s only available until 6 so any night time plans you’re on your own. Rooms are nice but staff English is limited so it was hard for them to get any request right the first time. I asked for things like coffee or fresh linings they either took over 40 minutes to bring or would bring the wrong item, at one point completely forgetting (not understanding) my request all together. I don’t think the price was worth the stay (90usd a night) as for a similar price you can stay at a real luxury resort.

• carlossW5159IN (2/5): Terrible Quality, Not a Luxury resort - In 2017 I stayed here with friends and It was great. But this second time around with my wife it was TERRIBLE. First things first. The staff here is fantastic. They are so nice and always smiling and they try their hardest to give you a good experience with what they are given. Unfortunately they aren’t given much. The owner of this “Luxury” resort is down right cheap. And it shows. 1. No Hot water. We stayed here 5 nights and we had to call almost 3 times a day to get them to try and fix the hot water. After a long day of traveling we want a nice warm shower. The water was so cold. Every. Day. The poor staff would get our calls everyday and they would come up and try to fix it and they would have to restart the heater for the water and we would have to wait 30minutes for it to reboot. The next morning/evening the water would be cold again. It was so frustrating. A Luxury resort should have this figured out. Our first day here was the worst. They couldn’t figure it out and we told freezing showers at night. 2. No TV Cable. This “luxury” resort definitely played it so cheap and didn’t pay for cable. They have a TV in the room with only like 5-7 local channels on it. They rotate through twice so there are like 10-14 channels but they are the same 5-7. Because it was only the free local channels that Thailand offers, every channel was in Thai and it was mostly news channels. This is the worst thing ever. When you get back to your hotel at the end of a long day all you wanna do is shower and lay in bed and watch some TV to relax. We could never do that. Again... this is supposedly “luxury”. We stayed in Koh Samui and Bangkok and both our hotels there had better cable with movie channels and cartoons and stuff all in English. When I came in 2017 they were paying for cable and they used to offer all the channels including movie channels in English and even discovery. The owner has gotten cheap. 3. Too far from anything. This hotel is far from any of the touristy things. Not too big of a deal since it makes it quiet. But it’s good to know. 4. The owner doesn’t care. As I have been here before and had a good experience I felt cheated this second time around. My wife and I excepted to stay at a nice resort with hot water and have cable. The first day here was just so miserable. I felt cheated. The room wasn’t clean, it was so hot and sticky when we go there because it wasn’t ready. Then all we wanted to do was shower and rest from the long travel and watch tv. But the water was freezing and they couldn’t fix it. We had to constantly call over and try to fix it. It was very annoying and frustrating to deal with EVERY morning and night. Then after a freezing shower there was no tv to watch in English. Or good channels besides news channels. They conned us. We were very unhappy. So we told the owner. And he basically just didn’t care. He didn’t offer to upgrade us rooms or anything to compensate for the poor service. Oh .. and we were the ONLY people staying here. The only booked room that whole week. And they couldn’t move us. Don’t stay here. All the things were out of the staffs control. They are great. But this is NOT a Luxury resort.

It’s not their fault that this “4 star” resort is cheap with everything else. The WiFi is TRASH. You can barely load Instagram and it constantly disconnects. Very cheap WiFi with slow speeds. Hot water? Never heard of it. We stayed 5 nights and every night we needed to call to try and get the hot water fixed. It was so bad. Absolutely terrible. Wanna watch TV? Nope. This place was too cheap to have any kind of network besides the standard wired free cable that has about 8 different channels and all in Thai. A “4 star” resort should have more. All the other hotels I’ve stayed at have English channels, better WiFi, and hot water. That’s basic 3 star hotel quality.

• Snoop818 (10/5): Riverside Maraya Hotel & Resort in Chiang Mai - Maraya Hotel & Resort was one of our favorite hotel stay in Thailand with an infiniti pool overlooking the Mae ping river giving you the best confortable stay. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice quiet relaxing stay. All the staff were very welcoming.
• Chelseapascal (6/5): Good enohgh - For the price, this place was good. The staff are great- special shout out to kaew who was very accommodating to us. The breakfast food is delicious, but the whole place is very cluttered and lacks a bit of finesse. We were among very few guests at the hotel, but the pool was not ready for use, and when we walked in the bathroom was not clean to standard. They fixed this right away though. Be warned though if you’re expecting a shower there is none, just a bath with a short shower head while you’re sitting in the tub. A little bit off the beaten track, but otherwise enjoyable for what it was!

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall - a nice quiet hotel not too close to the city. Free shuttle into the city every morning is a convenient service. There was some miscommunication which resulted in a 1000bht cost for breakfast for 2 when we arrived before check in which was invoiced to us upon departure. This wasn’t made clear to us and there was no menu provided with pricing. The inclusive breakfast was not ideal for vegan or vegetarians with very limited choice, however Happy agreement located a few doors away were awesome. Good sized room with a nice traditional feel and views across the river.

• srbajaj (10/5): Homely nice feel! - Let me start by saying that this place feels like an home away from home. The staff at the reception is always smiling and a very warm and friendly welcome and service. She even helped book a grab to the main market. The main night market/malls/shopping is just a 8/10 mins drive from the hotel. Their housekeeping is good and friendly. Breakfast is set near the pool and lake area in a hut which makes the ambience really good. You can place an order for whatever you want and the breakfast is served nice fresh and warm on your place. This is a hotel worth staying if you're with family or on a honeymoon trip. It's a very quite, nice and friendly atmosphere place/hotel to be in.

It’s perfect for those just want to have a leisure time. There are also couple nice restaurants close by. The place is about 20mins to the old city. I used Grab and Tu Tu to get around. Will definitely come back here next time.

• Pradeep (8/5): - A very comfortable hotel with excellent staff, courteous, polite, efficient and ever helpful! The hand shower in the bathroom needs to be extended as it cannot be used to wash one's hair unless on sits in the bathtub. A shuttle bus is provided three times a day to the city. 10min drive away.. the hotel is situated on the banks of the river Ping in a serene atmosphere.
• L (10/5): - Nice hotel, tranquil spot looking over the river with a temple across. there's complimentary daily rides to the market and old city gates, recommended for couples and solo travelers.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Bad location - The room was beautiful but not functional. There was no hot water in the sink and I had to shave in cold water. There is a sign above the sink to wait 4-5 minutes for the hot water to come, but it never did. it is difficult to climb inside the bathtub and get out of it. No rails to hang to and I felt I am going to fall and needed my wife help to avoid imminent injury. The shower itself, with double head was fantastic. There is no wall or door out of the shower room but only net to have ventilation. However, small bugs enter the shower, and therefore the room, through these small spaces in the net and we kept the door shower closed all the time. The breakfast had 4 options including American breakfast, which sounds great. However, the portions in the breakfast were small, and we left hungry. The worst part is the location. Hotel management is aware of this problem and offer a shuttle to the city at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, all of which are inconvenient hours when u want to go to see the city. We ended up using this so-called shuttle service only once and took taxis all the time. There was no flexibility with the shuttle time or the breakfast and generally speaking I did not feel comfortable in this beautiful hotel where management is just considering how to save themselves the fraction of the penny. With all this said, no wonder the hotel was literally empty and out of the 18 rooms only 3 were occupied. Not a good experience and will not recommend this hotel.

The hotel itself is beautiful and its staff very nice and willing to help. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful....you'd swear you were the only guests in the hotel. If you are adverse to large chain hotels, this may be the right fit for you. Pros - Quiet property with beautiful decor and a charming temple (super picturesque) view. - Very nice and helpful staff. - Large clean room with balcony (we had the entire top floor - I believe it was a suite). - Great breakfast and great waitstaff. - Very close to the airport. Cons - This hotel was marked near to the night markets but it certainly is not closeby. It's about a 15 min ride (no traffic) to get to the market. - No elevator. This is a huge point of contention for me since our luggage was heavy. Although the bags were brought up to the room, we checked out very early in the morning and had to make special arrangements to have our luggage brought downstairs to the lobby. - No nearby restaurants or shops. - Breakfast dining area and lobby were not air-conditioned. - Only one room key provided We didn't use any of the amenities, i.e., pool or spa so unable to comment on those features.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and clean, most importantly quiet! - This hotel is a little bit away from the centre of Chiang Mai, but it is only a 10min ride between, plus the hotel offers shuttle buses. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was freshly made when you arrived at the river-side restaurant.

• cheryl (8/5): Beautiful, quiet, on the river... - Beautiful hotel, lovely staff...the BEST bed and pillows we had in Thailand. It is on the Ping River, with great shuttle service twice a day to the Old City Gate, and once to the Night Market (you have to find your own way home). It is peaceful and quiet and the breakfast area is just lovely. The food was ok for breakfast...generous, but not spectacular. It was a choice of three fixed menus. Would recommend this place as long as you don't mind taxis and uber for getting there and back if you miss the shuttle. The staff helped us with booking reservations too. We'd go back there again.
• Charles (2/5): This hotel is'nt for old people or sick people. - under staffed at any time. 2 persons at the reception, so you arrive you have to go and find the bell boy, if notyou have to take care of your luggage. Very high floor without lift, not even a service lift. Very poor english. Only bathtub, no standing shower. The beautiful location along the river is the only positive point.

My only downside was that it was a bit far from old city where all the restaurants/markets were. In itself this wouldn’t have been bad but always seemed to be traffic so would take quite a bit to go to and from. Other than that, everything was perfect.

• Sheila (10/5): Great hotel outside of city center. - Idyllic view on the river of Chedi Liam. The street the hotel is on is busy, but very accessible by Uber to all points in Chiangmai. The hotel has a couple of bicycles for use and it is great to cycle away from the city and enjoy the fruit orchards and farmlands. While the breakfast is a bit dull, its nice to start your day out with a predictable meal. There is a great vegetarian restaurant and Northern Thai restaurant within walking distance. Great small pool to relax in after a day of traipsing around.

Our room was fabulous and very comfortable, the bedding and pillows were top Mich and very comfortable. I rate this place a 5 star hotel. Location was easy to get to all areas and attract awithout being in the heart of everything, shuttle was provided free or taxi were easy and cheap to obtain. Great stay, can't wait to return.

Unstable water pressure 3. Unstable water heater 4. Towel with stain 5. Frontdesk asked guest to wait for one hour then only shower due to repair work without prior inform 6. Suprise trip spoiler - pipe burst in The middle of the night and flood the whole room 7. Security Gaurd is the only person who is handling the whole hotel during night time 8. Serious security problem - the hotel is wide open to outsider to access to all the rooms, the entrance is gaurded by one security gaurd only and there is no door to lock During the night of pipe burst, no management level staff has attended to the problem other than the Gaurd. The Gaurd apologised and changed the room for me. The next day, all the staff just pretend nothing has happen and no one apologise to me. The hotel manager was never there at all. How can this be a four star hotel. If there is anyway I can ask for a refund for this please let me know. This is worst than a buotique hotel.
• Christine (6/5): Average - Nice clean room with nice views. That's about it on the positive side. Staff are not very helpful and don't speak English very well. Each request is generally responded to with a 'no'. Breakfast is simply atrocious, tendency to not being edible i.e. The rotten mouldy cheese used for our omelettes one morning... Disgusting! Location is far from town with nothing around , visitors need to be aware of this.
• AL (8/5): Nice hotel. A little far from the city center. - The hotel is fairly new and the hotel staff are very friendly and efficient. I stayed in the pool view rooms which were very large and spacious. The king size bed was great and very comfortable. The only reason I didn't give this hotel a 5 star rating was because it didn't have an elevator, the pool view rooms didn't come with a shower which wasn't made clear on the website. Overall my stay was very nice. The breakfast was very tasty as well.

• Ching Jen (10/5): Chiang Mai vocation - Stay for 4 nights and upgrade me to riverfront view, food is good , front desk is very helpful, Breakfast has a a lot of choices , beautiful garden and river view . A little bit far from old town but they have scheduled free shuttle to old town , free airport shuttle to and go . I will stay here again definitely!

• John (8/5): Maraya Hotel -- Overall good hotel, with some cave - This is a relatively brand new hotel. The facilities are clean and the pictures are accurate. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had two relatively minor issues: 1. When we checked in, we were given a better room than we were booked, though we did not know this. Within 15 minutes of checking into our room, the staff let us know they had made a mistake and apologized, and graciously asked us to move to another room. We did not have a problem with this. However, the 2nd room did not have a shower case. We requested one, but the manager then stated that this was not included in our booking. Fortunately, we had our booking confirmation that stated otherwise. So we were moved to a third room. 2. We took taxi and tuk-tuks may times from the Chiang Mai night market area to the hotel. Few of the drivers knew where this hotel was, given that it was relatively new. Many to consult google maps, and one even had to call the hotel for directions. Some would declare the the ride to the hotel was "very far" from the night Market to the hotel, when in fact it was perhaps a couple km. 3. The hotel is located next to the mae ping river. At least in this area, the river was not pretty. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience with helpful staff. There was a complimentary breakfast that was quite good, but next time we would choose to stay closer to the night market.
• David (10/5): Will stay again - A good choice of hotel of have visited Chiang Mai before or don't want to be in the city. We will most certainly stay here again if it is not sold out as we will be back in Chiang Mai. Modern room design in very pleasing restful earth colours. Really does look like the picture. River view room is spacious, comfortable and peaceful. Bedding is premium and comfortably soft. The team that are on site are first class, warm friendly and helpful. Only consideration is that remember is a boutique hotel, no lift. But the exercise was good for me. Do add this hotel to your short list
• wendy (10/5): Beautiful Chiang Mai - The staff at the Marya was just excellent. Other than a little confusion regarding sleeping arrangements for 3 adult friends through the Hotels.com website, everything was perfect. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. If you stay, take a card with the address for taxi drivers as it is so new, that none of the drivers knew where it was.
