Guest Reviews
- Tina (8/5): Very nice, clean comfy and great position - Very comfortable and convenient for the moorings at Waveney river centre Early in the season bar closed at 9pm
- naomi (10/5): -
- Lynn (9/5): - It’s beautiful. Hosts were excellent. Noise from other rooms
- Judy (8/5): - Lovely waterside location Facilities, bar, pool, reception closed at 4pm
- Katie (8/5): Great value for money, lovely one night stay. - Spacious room., with everything you needed in it and very clean. Lovely bed and bedding. Staff very nice and helpful. Dinner in restaurant was very good! Huge portions and great value for money. Very remote location. Nothing to dislike.
- Mark (7/5): Disappointing due to power cut - The room was spacious and comfy Power cut in darkness it was cold with no heating and the alarm going off in lobby for two hours in the evening. Only emergency lighting one small light in the room no light in bathroom. Due to the remoteness of the location this was not great. No staff on site.
- Nataliia (8/5): -
- Dan (10/5): -
- Leila (5/5): - Big room, nice decor, convenient if you want to go boating or for a walk along the river. Room above reception in front of car park so no view, noisy & no privacy: had to have curtains & windows shut on a warm day. Walls seemed very thin too as you could hear every conversation, toilet flush etc. No window or vent in bathroom. The pool is not part of the inn business and was unavailable which was the main reason I stayed and felt like false advertising. Breakfast only available from 9am which was too late as there was nowhere else to buy food within walking distance nearby.
- Jason (7/5): -
- Tim (8/5): -
- Graham (6/5): Was ok for a night , but expected a little more - Spacious room, comfortable bed The headboard was very dusty with a visible layer of dust on the top which wasnt the best as, the floor had something under the carpet which made it uneven , lots of windows but nothing to look at just laundry bins and the side of buildings
- kaye (9/5): Very comfortable stay luxurious room very comfortable food in the restaurant was amazing and staff were amazing - The room was extremely nice and comfortable and the staff could not do enough for us. They were amazing! There was not one thing I didn’t like about the property.
- Claire (9/5): The setting by the river was very beautiful and peaceful. I used the ferry to cross the river and had a lovely walk to O - The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable and there was a good selection of tea, coffee, biscuits and mineral water. The bathroom was very nice and clean. There was heating which worked well and security to the rooms was good, with a key fob allowing access to the bedrooms from the bar and hotel reception area. I felt safe there staying on my own. The stairs were quite steep and I found them quite hard work and there isnt a lift. I didn't ask for a ground floor room though and it was manageable for me despite this.
- Richard (7/5): Pleasant stay in line with my expectations - Breakfast was ok. Very little fresh content Non replenished tea/coffee tray during the week
- david (7/5): Nice overall stay, very clean and comfortable and nice views of boats and river - Rooms spacious, clean and very nicely prepared with teas and coffee water biscuit etc very welcomed. Staff pleasant and helpful, beds comfortable bathrooms clean and spacious bar and restaurant tidy and and nice relaxing atmosphere (guests permitting)
Small swimming pool was pleasant and the grounds looked clean and tidy and well kept. All ok no dislikes but Access to property quite remote with single track lane and limited nearby easily accessible walking routes? As so close to river, Was hoping to do a little fishing with my son but access to the riverbank was extremely limited as most of the mariner did not allow fishing and there was only one limited space not particularly easy to fish from?
Changing areas for swimming pool wasn’t particularly great, limited space to change in male changing room next to toilets and although it was ok as not busy I expect it would be a lot worse if more than 3 or 4 people at once.
- Geraldine (10/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful area. Highly recommended to all. - Everything at Waveney was excellent. The facilities in my room (access friendly) were brilliant, and made my stay easy. The food was brilliant, the gammon at dinner was beautiful, as were the chips 👍. Most importantly the staff on duty were amazing. They dealt with an awkward part of guests at the evening meal with politeness and respect, and readily sorted their many, unwarranted, comments. They are a credit to your hotel.
Thank you for an enjoyable stay. I will certainly recommend you friends.
- Wentzel (8/5): - It was clean, neat and the family room was spacious. Staff were friendly & helpful. We chose this hotel for the use of the pool, but unfortunately the pool closes early and only opens at 10.
- Dempster (5/5): - Good time had by all.
- Nicola (9/5): Perfect - the room was very spacious and the bathroom was perfect, all very clean and comfortable, great value for money. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was walk in and I have issues with mobility so suited my needs perfectly nothing it was all perfect
- Kevin (7/5): -
- Mihaela (10/5): - Very clean and friendly staff
- Nichola (10/5): -
- john (8/5): Great stay, with friendly staff. - It was spotless, comfortable bed, and nice room.
Our evening meal was lovely, however the breakfast was not so nice, deep fried and greasy. The shower leaked over the bathroom floor. Reported it to Reception.
- Barry (7/5): - The property is in a lovely location and all that we could have wanted. Our only gripe was that when we arrived (on a bank holiday Monday) we were informed that the restaurant would not be serving food after 5pm and this was 4 pm. After waiting for hour and half our server told us that the chef had stormed off and they were unable to serve the food.
- Sao (6/5): -

- Christopher (9/5): Weekend break in summer - Nice location, comfortable room Nice restaurant and bar , enjoyed the swimming pool as well. Not enough choice at breakfast You had to pay extra for any other items.
- Bekki (6/5): Fine - Rooms were great and welcome was brilliant. The staff at breakfast (the one young lady - perhaps an understaffing issue- was not good and said the kitchen wasn’t open until 9.10 (advertised everywhere from 9am). Don’t know if the kitchen staff were behind but this young lady told us they wouldn’t be ready until 9.10 ‘to make sure the kitchen was warmed up to make sure the food was cooked through.’ At 9.05 many other parties arrived and she took their orders. Poor service. Let down the weekend.
- ChelseaMick59 (9/5): - Room was excellent , showroom also. Comfy bed great nights sleep.
Very good service in the bar and fair priced good pub food with a lot of choice
- Mark (10/5): Exactly what i needed for my stay. - I don't think that I can really fault anything here, I stayed for a few nights for a wedding, and had a couple of breakfasts which were decent. It's in a nice location right by a marina, so you can have a little walk and look at the boats. I only realised aftewards that I arrived half an hour after their check-in times, but the staff phoned to check I was coming and were accomodating. The bed was huge and comfy. I can't really think of anything i'd fault really, maybe for the bar to stay open a little later, but that really is nit-picking.
- Gillian (4/5): The staff are unexperienced and not very helpful. Wrong food delivered to the table. Told the staff the room was unbeara - Lovely location, clean and tidy The family room is up stairs and backing the back outside area of the kitchen. So very noisy and can hear the staff talking and the room smelled of what ever was being cooked
- Clark (7/5): Comfortable for one night - Comfortable large room, friendly staff, music on the terrace in the afternoon was a nice bonus. The food wasn't enjoyable and unfortunately the games room was closed off due to a private function which was a shame as we had planned to have a game or two of pool with a couple of drinks that eve. We wasn't told this on check in.
- James (9/5): Great little stay in a lovely location - Lovely location, room was clean and well decorated to match the boat theme. Pool was lovely and the entertainment room was nice ! I would probably say if anything, the jacket potato was underdone, but that's being fussy. Also, the pool table didn't work all the time, and staff had to keep coming out to release balls. Been like that for a while. Would come again !
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Icole7 (9/5): What a great location on the river! - Lovely location and modern clean room with all amenities. Right by the river with lovely walks around and access via the foot ferry to the nature reserve. Electric charging on site. Good breakfast. Bit out of the way down a single track road.
Staff a bit busy with dinner service when we arrived so check-in somewhat meh!
Several electric car charging points but app a bit fiddly to get going as Wattif is one I haven't used before. Also, petrol cars blocking two of the spots!
- Heather (9/5): Lovely stay at this little gem - would highly recommend - Cleanliness of rooms
Large, clean beds with very comfortable pillows
In room facilities including hairdryer, shower accessories, choice of teas, coffees and hot chocolates
Swimming pool - clean, family orientated
On site shop for essentials and gifts Air conditioning in rooms was non existent - we only found the fans as we were packing up to vacate the rooms
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - The staff were so warm and welcoming - really friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great.
The rooms were large, well equipped, immaculatelyclean and beautifully decorated. A great night's sleep had by all. A bonus to be able to charge the car overnight.
- Atacocugu (9/5): Superb - The room was lovely and comfortable. The staff, especially Theo, were helpful and kind. The food was really delicious.
- Lewis (10/5): Highly recommend beautiful hotel, pool and surroundings and the staff were outstanding, food was delicious and reasonabl - The staff were amazing, the property was so clean and the rooms were lovely. We liked everything
- Malcolm (9/5): Great room - Nice big room with good facilities The room was a bit warm and the shower door didn't shut properly.
- Julie (5/5): Passable - Lovley little place
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent experience
- Gary (9/5): Superb - Great location away from the hustle and bustle but right next to the broads. Loved seeing all the boats moored up and having a look around. Next step buy a boat 😃
- Naomi (4/5): Like sleeping in an oven - It was excellent location for the river and nice and clean. The food was nice and it is well decorated. It was way too hot. The room I stayed in was unbearably hot. I measured 33° C at night. There was a very ineffective tower fan in the wardrobe that was full of dust and sent dust out everywhere when it was switched on. The floor of the room was hot under my feet. I don't know what I was over, but I was in the engine room. It felt like an engine room. I tried to find someone to ask for another fan, but after 9pm there was no one around and no emergency contact. I thought that was really bad. No one in case of an emergency.
The water in the cold tap came out warm and I couldn't get it to run cold.
As a result I got sick and was not able to complete my event the next day.
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillips (9/5): Will definitely book again and prebook swimming! - Beautiful location, lovely outsidexarea, nice food and scenery, will visit again. Struggled to book for swimming ( the reason I booked this hotel) as slots were prebooked and I didn't know. Luckily very helpful staff who avoided disappointment for my granddaughter but the system isn't clear alongside booking. Hotel staff said the pool is not their business!
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maureen (10/5): Perfection..... - Perfection....comfy huge bed with crisp white sheets and proper plump pillows....a shower big enough to have a party in with soft fluffy towels, a hair dryer that dries hair properly....and and a TV with all the channels....and smart smiling and obliging staff
One of the best stays I have had....highly recommend. Nothing at all
- Tina (8/5): Very good - Quiet location, lots of wild birds nearby and right outside the door. Eady access to Broads, Carlton Marshes, Lowestoft and its beautiful south beach. Accommodation is well appointed, very comfortable, very clean.
- Joanne (5/5): Hotel and food were lovely staff need training - The room was lovely The staff were untrained and didn’t even know simple things like what time check out was. Every brine I asked one of the girls they had to ask Bobby. Also would have been helpful to know they we needed to book for swimming. On check in.
- Rosindale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely - Lovely size room
- Brett (9/5): Superb - Has a lovely setting and is out the way of everything Bar closes at 9 but understandable when it's quiet
- Tina (5/5): Birdwatchers paradise; I heard a Bittern and Cuckoo among so many others - Location is lovely, beautiful area, very rural, birdsong and wildlife in abundance. Food was good in the restaurant, well cooked, good range of dishes, ample portions, friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Beautiful room with superb shower room. Comfortable, spacious room. Lovely picture windows. Lock up at 9pm on Friday and Saturday means being back early or you can't get in. Lock in was 7pm on Sunday - and as the restaurant closed at 3.30pm, no where to eat in the evening unless you leave the site. When both access doors are locked, there is no way back in. You don't get a key. No breakfast available on Monday morning. Restaurant opening hours are limited. No reception staff.
- Dave (9/5): Superb -
- Gavin (9/5): Superb -
- Calum (6/5): Pleasant -
- Toomer (8/5): Very good - All good Disappointed the bar did not stay open later on a Saturday night
- Alan (10/5): Very relaxing - Breakfast was great, site has 4 ev chargers available, room was spotless only thing missing was a fridge but price was excellent Just a fridge
- Nigel (9/5): Comfortable, enjoyable and good value. - A little 'hard to find' but well worth the effort ! The room was superb, spacious, well lit, and nicely furnished. The bed was enormous and comfortable. The bathroom excellent with a lovely and welcome shower. I had a very good night ! Unfortunately I had to leave at the time breakfast was served so I cannot comment on the catering. Suffice it to say I would stay here again. The view from the windows was relaxing too ! With such a short stay I cannot make any suggestions apart from perhaps breakfast could start an hour earlier ?
- Victoria (9/5): Lovely break in beautiful location with excellent staff. - Beautiful location, lovely room, extremely polite and helpful staff. Nothing
- Dexter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pauline (8/5): Very good - The bedroom was comfortable and very clean. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful Couldn't find anyone to leave the door key with when we checked out. Maybe a Dropbox would be useful? I hope they found it!
- Clare (10/5): Beautiful hotel in stunning location, big comfortable beds and warm spacious room. - Beautiful location. Quiet and comfortable rooms, spacious bathroom with lovely hot and powerful shower. Restaurant was available for dinner so had to travel to Beccles for food and no option to get breakfast. Could benefit from a fridge if breakfast isn’t available.
- Nos_lucky (8/5): Very good -
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (7/5): Good - Good location friendly staff very happy overall. Two things. One staff are split across different services (oh you need to talk to the other reception about that), put up a sign to explain that to people. Two no breakfast available when we stayed, of the things somewhere that says it's a hotel has to do is to have the ability to do breakfast, I know it's December but still.
- Mikee (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (10/5): A really lovely break and the staff were lovely, breakfast was spot on, we would certainly visit here again - It is a lovely hotel and the room was really spacious and comfortable, the shower was great and the bed was so comfortable. There was nothing negative
- Reynolds (5/5): nice people nice facilities .. I was offered a free breakfast but I wanted another night undisturbed - room was nice / Lovely shower. I was given a fan
Food was good
Facilities around the inn was nice there was a noise which kept me awake. I did ask for a deal ie if I stayed three nights but only paid for two to compensate but i got no response. I was offering a deal which would have been win win for both of us I didnt sleep al night.
- Gillian (10/5): Lovely peaceful stay. - Staff friendly . Location lovely and peaceful
Food was average but tasted good, I was on the ground floor and there is a bin outside the window where restaurant guests stood around smoking. Wasn’t sure people realised it was a room the other side of the window as it’s one way glass and they couldn’t see in….. this however meant a group of 5 stood outside my window smoking so I could t have the window open due to the smoke smell…. So just a suggestion to maybe move the bin or a sign to let people outside know it’s a room with residents
- Sophie (7/5): Great stay when visiting friends locally. - Rooms perfect for our group. Clean and tidy and very peaceful. Lovely rural setting on the broads. Bar shut at 9.30PM on a Saturday night in august summer time! No atmosphere in bar.
- Barry (5/5): Passable - The location is very poor and difficult to get to.
The shower door was broken
The room could have more cutlery like bowls and plates. Also would do well with a microwave.
- Ludmila (8/5): Good experience, - Nice clean room Comfortable stay
- Clive (10/5): Loved staying here, will be back. - Beautiful location, great facilities. Lovely staff who were so smiley and helpful.
- Richard (10/5): Peaceful get away. - Fabulous property and location. The green fire exit safety light in the room is too bright at night.
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (7/5): Great location - The rooms were clean and spacious
Their was plenty of loo roll and towels The toilet and taps all made a screech noise after anyone used them , which did prevent my son from sleeping our first night .
- Louise (8/5): Lovely clean hotel - Lovely clean room, pool included was a bonus for the children Bit noisy during the night squeeking from outside and the toilet refilling. Pull out sofa bed wasn't the best, children moaned it was lumpy. The light from the landing came through the door cracks
- June (10/5): It was a great place to stay. The staff were brilliant, friendly and we were made to feel welcome. Highly recommended.xx - All of it. It was really nice and we loved every minute of being there. There was nothing to dislike.
- Danielle (8/5): A lovely nights stay, very big bed and our room was spacious. Food was delicious too. - Loved the big family room with a huge bed. Dinner and breakfast were both freshly cooked and were delicious. Lovely location Unfortunately our TV wasn’t working and with a toddler it was definitely needed. We were told someone would look at it the next day, but we were only staying 1 night, which was a shame.
- Forbes (6/5): Beautiful destination, welcoming staff, certain things should be highlighted, to visitors. - Very modern clean room The room was like a sauna, even on a chilly night outside. The window had no protection against security, so could not leave open.
There was a terrible plumbing problem, about every 30 minutes the pipes, made a server trapped air noise.
Also the property advertises a swimming pool, which is not within the premises.
You will also have to, navigate single track country lanes, for many miles to reach the property.
- Roma (10/5): Beautiful hotel in beautiful location - Room was beautiful. So clean and comfy and well decorated. Bathroom was lush.
The staff were lovely and very attentive especially the gentleman with the snake tattoo working the bar and restaurant (I didn't catch his name) but big thanks to him for making me feel so welcome. Menu in restaurant could have had a little more choice.
- Alison (9/5): Superb - The space and fresh air and light and water and warmth of atmosphere Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- C (7/5): Good - Staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was great! Good value for money. Lots of parking available. Well stocked tea/coffee/hot chocolate/water/sparkling water in room. Peaceful setting and play area on site. The plumbing in the room was very noisy. Hotel is down some very narrow lanes with limited passing places and due to the river is about 30 mins from lowestoft, but I should have checked this before I booked as just assumed it was near, geographically. Swimming pool is a great addition but was very busy during our booked slot.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Tina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Darren (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothng
- Ansah (9/5): Superb - The staff were very polite and friendly. My son loved the pool.
- Lina (10/5): Exceptional - Spotlessly clean room, beautiful bathroom and a MASSIVE bed all in the most stunning location. Staff were absolutely lovely and so welcoming. Cannot recommend enough.
- Durdy (8/5): Very good -
