Guest Reviews
- Tania (1/5): Unacceptable, had to leave. - Boutique hotel and apart from beach area looked reasonably well maintained. The hotel made no effort to clean the small beach of huge amounts of accumulated seaweed including rubbish washed up with it. It was a health and safety nightmare and we could not use the sunbeds, access the beach, the sea or open our balcony doors due to smell of rotting seaweed. We left after the first night as the hotel was not fit for purpose. Our requests at the property and subsequently for a refund for nights 2 to 5 have been totally ignored.
- Matteo (10/5): -
- Jocelyn (8/5): Lovely boutique hotel. Unfortunately the build up of sargossan on the beach made swimming impossible. Some effort in a - The staff were fabulous The pool was disappointing

- Anita (10/5): Amazing stay with excellent service and comfort. - My stay at Tago Tulum was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. The hotel exceeded all my expectations in every way. The rooms were beautifully designed, clean, and incredibly comfortable, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and unwind.
The staff was outstanding, always friendly, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, making the stay feel both luxurious and welcoming. A special thank you to Emmanuel and Andrea, who made me feel safe and helped organize sightseeing, making my trip smooth and enjoyable.
The location is perfect, offering a peaceful and exclusive vibe while still being close to everything Tulum has to offer. The food and amenities were also top-notch, adding even more to the overall experience.
Everything about my stay was excellent, and I would highly recommend Tago Tulum to anyone looking for a truly special getaway. I can’t wait to come back! The only downside was that the air conditioning was a bit noisy.
- Keith (10/5): -
- Priscille (8/5): - Nice, large and conformable room with plunge pool. Free parking and service is excellent from all staff. We were disappointed that the sargassum on the beach was not cleared. We chose this hotel specifically for ocean access, but unfortunately, we couldn’t swim due to the seaweed and debris along the shore. We noticed that other SLH properties we visited, such as La Zebra and Lula, had their beaches cleaned daily, so we’re not sure why this wasn’t the case here. Also continental breakfast could be improve.
- Susan-Lee (10/5): Can’t wait to go back outstanding vacation - The property was well looked after extremely clean the staff friendly accommodating above and beyond. The room was spacious super comfortable, high high ceiling. Wonderful bathroom, shower vanity best bathroom I’ve been in in a while. The properties on the north side of Tulum in hotel zone, which allows it to be quiet and comfortable. We rented bikes to get around during the day. It was absolutely stunning had a great island feel with high-end amenities.

- Zinon (9/5): Its always my choice for Tulum - Amazing rooms, very nice decor. Kind staff. Amazing amentities in room. Free valet parking Ok Tulum is generally expensive. The blocking of 300 dollars is not necessary. Breakfast not included. Towles should be replaced with new ones.

- Mariem (1/5): Not safe hotel - The worst stay ever . They stole our watch and all jewelry from the safety box inside our room . And staff didn’t collaborate or call the police. It has been a week and till now waiting for the police report but even an official email or communication from their hotel management happened.
And we heard that we’re not the only room that we were robbed . I don’t recommend anyone to go there as the hotel is not safe
- Julia (9/5): - The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the room was stunning with the private pool It was very expensive to eat at the hotel but it seems the whole beach area is very overpriced. It would have been great if there was some type of water tap
- Karolina (8/5): -

- Vasyl (3/5): - Quite good hotel in great location, with bog and clean rooms. No feedback from the staff via WhatsApp bot (they are proposing to use themselves) at all.
We faced the issue with the locker\safe first which didn't work correct with buttons beeping. WhatsApp bot ignored the request, and the lady on the Reception couldnt solve the issue - so we had the inconvenience using the locker all the time.
Also, upon check-out we fully paid out the services in accordance to the invoice provided, so have been promised that the 400 USD deposti will be returned in 3-5 days.
In 3-5 days the 400 USD deposit was returned, but imediately there was also another 35 USD charged from me for no reason and no explanations.
Appealing to theWhatsApp bot didn't work again.
Also, after writing to hotel via Booking requesting to esplain the 35 USD charge also didn't bring any result.
So, I would say, this hotel is using a minor fraud charging the payments for no reason and no explanations - also backdated as you can find it out only 4 days after leaving the hotel.

- Sasha (7/5): - We spent 5 days at Tago and really enjoyed the room, especially the comfortable bed, the walk-in shower and the private pool on the deck. The ocean view was gorgeous, and all staff were very kind, and kept the room very clean. The resort is located in a convenient location in the hotel zone and it was easy to walk to restaurants via the beach or the road. Unfortunately, the restaurant was terrible. We expected it to be overpriced, but it was even worse than the competition - for example a large bottle of bubbly water was 7 dollars at most places and 12 at Tago. The quality of food and coffee were bad, and sometimes the menu description didn't match the actual meal, leading us to spend 50 dollars on 2 plates of fettuccine with a cream sauce (instead of tomato) that we couldn't eat because we are lactose intolerant. I felt they should have offered us a refund but they didn't.
My recommendation would be to stay here and go to other beach clubs and restaurants.
- Deanna (10/5): TAGO - we LOVED it !! - The property was stunning. It’s a small hotel with roughly 20 rooms. However, the attention to detail is wonderful. It was never overcrowded and the staff were extremely attentive. We absolutely loved - also, Blanca provided an incredible customer experience !! We will be back Nothing, it was perfect
- Leonardo (8/5): -
- Kirsten Nicole (6/5): Great hotel, lovely facilities but a little far from everything else - The staff are amazing, the beach access and sauna are great It is very far from all the other restaurants and bars/beach clubs. It’s ok to walk there in the day but at night you can’t, there is no sidewalks and the taxis are around 600-800 pesos at night
- Alexandra (9/5): -
- Filip (9/5): - Very good hotel in Tulum
- Karis (10/5): -
- Lucas (10/5): Tudo maravilhoso!!!
- Nicole (10/5): Treated ourselves to an anniversary to remember by staying here while visiting Tulum. - This property was the best anniversary gift we could have given ourselves. The pool can be heated. Room service was fast and the amazing nightly dessert plates were delicious! Tago fries hit the spot too! Wish there was a hand held shower attachment in the bathroom.
- Richard (8/5): Fantastic location, right on the beach! - The ocean front suite was fantastic. You cannot get any closer to the beach than this, at any other hotel. It included a private pool which was refreshing. The staff were excellent; Blanca, Chris and Emmanuel as well as Marco. Great service. All staff made us feel very welcome and took care of any request. It needs a proper restaurant. The beach club is great but the main restaurant doesn’t really operate
- Fabiola (10/5): -
- Avogadro (9/5): - Ottima struttura, posizione e disponibilità dello staff.

Preis/Leistung

- Elena (10/5): Beautiful property in a great location, but overpriced. - The rooms are very spacious, housekeeping keeps everything clean, and the view from the room is beautiful. The location is also very convenient — the beach and attractions are all nearby. The prices are too high overall. Food is especially expensive.
- Alba (5/5): If you’re looking for a relaxing stay, look elsewhere. - Stunning facilities, super comfy rooms & bedding, quiet area and nice beach beds. If only this place was “managed” it would be amazing. At this rate, I do not expect it to stay open much longer. Poor check-in, not informed of all facilities (sauna/gym) until halfway through our stay…how to connect to room WiFi, how to connect to speakers, etc.
Thatched roof decomposing wood falling onto room/belongings. Pool in room full of bugs not cleaned unless requested. Room terrace seating/table not cleaned once. Coffee machine not working, rodent droppings in room and room terrace, amongst other basic things that we had to report to reception and were fixed, we had to change rooms to avoid further issues.
Massive leak during storm meant we needed to change room again. A ladder was left in middle of room access staircase for 24h+, soaked tables with rain water not cleaned once at beach area… AC in 3rd room would not turn off..
No apology or gesture were offered at any stage of our 3 room stay. At some point we got tired of reporting basic issues that should have never happened in the first place.
Restaurant menu sounded amazing but actual food was basic and underwhelming. Probably scrambled together like the rest of the place.
Cherry on top of our very eventful stay was a 55 min delay on our return airport transfer, which had been booked through Tago and prepaid and confirmed the day before with both Tago and the transfer “company” directly. Tago had us wait and keep waiting and offered no alternative. For the 1st 35 min we had no news on whether they would come or not. We had booked well in advance so were OK and made our flight, but we could have missed the flight and Tago would have obviously washed their hands.
Whoever owns Tago do not care enough, the place is held together with sticky tape.

- Philippe (8/5): - Hôtel en bord de mer. Personnel sympathique.
- Chad (8/5): My stay was very good, small things they can adjust like providing bug spray and more air flowing scene at the dinner ta - The spacious room and shower with plunge pool and beach access Some of the lights didn’t work
- Mette (8/5): -
- Jasjit (7/5): Mixed stay with a few things that need addressing to be A* - It was off season and room 9 has an AC fault that was never fixed during our stay and the engineer showed me how to switch it off from the fuse box. He visted and said he would switch out the AC control panel but never came back. There is a tile missing in the plunge pool and the wifi needs a room booster. The beach bar was closed for refurbishment during our 5 day stay. Please address these issues so guests can have a A+ stay. Things that were good. When we arrived the first room had a poor ocean view and our room was changed to a better view. Cleaning ladies were amazing throughout and kept room spotless. The bell boys were great helping with carrying suitcases. Complimentary coffee and water was nice along with toiletries. AC unit
Broken tile in plunge pool
WiFi was really poor in the room
The hotel should follow the examples of others and arrange for the beach seaweed to be cleared
- Adam (10/5): -
- Jesse (7/5): - The room and view were both amazing Staff could have been friendlier for a luxury resort. Probably 2 of the staff I regularly encountered were quite friendly and a standout. Especially Andrea
- Diāna (9/5): - The view, pool and the room!
- Steven (5/5): Passable - We enjoyed the room, the staff were very nice, friendly and very helpful. However, we left two days earlier than planned, which didn't worry anyone. We weren't even asked how our stay had gone or why we were leaving early. When we deal with this kind of quality establishment, we expect a minimum of concern from them. We understood that from the moment everything was paid for, there was no need to worry about it.
- DOR (8/5): -
- Ana (10/5): - Everything was perfect!!
- Liran (8/5): -
- Danille (4/5): - We arrived at Tago around 1:30 and weren't sure where to park so we went to the lobby and asked. He told us to park next to the building which only has about 4 spots. Check in isn't until 3 but they were able to accommodate our earlier arrival time. When checking in there are pictures of a topless woman behind the desk which seems out of place.
As soon as you leave the front desk area there's sand everywhere. It's a sandy path to your room. When we got to the room I noticed the picture of naked people above the toilet and that the 2 extra locks on the door didn't appear to work (not even the chain). There also isn't a do not disturb sign. We asked the front desk how to turn on the pool and he said he'd send a guy over. About an hour later my husband called to say we didn't want it turned on any longer because we didn't think it would take someone that long to begin with. For some reason he comes to our room with the pool guy, unlocks our door and just walks right in without knocking.
The Ocean Front Suite is large however the furniture is beat up (the outdoor furniture is rusty), the glass doors don't seal very well so you can hear the music, dogs barking and road noise, the wifi is hit or miss and we had a scorpion on the curtain.
We had 3 nights booked but only stayed 2. Wasn't expecting toddlers since Expedia says guests under 18 are not permitted at this adults only property and you couldn't even enjoy the beach because of the rotting sargassum stench.
- Tasha (8/5): - The rooms were beautiful, staff was very friendly. Parking was a bit rough by the weekend
(1/5): - The rooms look like the picture - the plunge pool is not small but not large. I will never go to this hotel again.
Starting from the fact that none of the employees speaks English.
The sheets in the room were full of stains, the pool was very dirty, and the bed and the room were full of sand.
When we complained about all of that, they didn't even send someone to clean the room or the pool.
The hotel restaurant has a very limited food menu - the waiter does not even know what the plates look like - and the restaurant is very expensive!! They also take at least 15% for service on the bill.
There is sand everywhere, so if you are not a beach person, don't go there.
- Nancy M (10/5): - So the room were spectacular. The service fantastic, the food was delicious an the cocktails out of sight. the only thing that was a surprise is that when we wanted the outdoor pool was not always available. Of course the pool took about an 1.5 hours to get heated, but when we requested to have it turned on, we were never alerted that they would not end up doing it. So after a beautiful romantic walk back from dinner the pool was cold.....
A bit of a Debbie Downer since the pool is used in high lighting the property rooms.
I would still stay there again, but would ask for them to contact us if they will not be heated after we asked. The beach club was more then comfortable. EVERYONE went beyond the usual for great service.
Other then that, we had a magical time.
Thank you Tago Tulum
- Ashley (10/5): - Everything was amazing from the time I arrived until the time I left
- Albert (10/5): - We have an amazing experience, super recommend it, everything clean and the staff super kind, very good location
- Daniela (9/5): -
Colazione a pagamento e motlo lenta.
- Gail (6/5): - The hotel was fairly nice but the surroundings and smell from the beach was awful. The beach looked horrific because of the sludge and seamoss, which I assumed created the awful smell. There should be clear notifications posted on the hotel site regarding the beach area so that travelers are aware to ensure the stay is accommodating for them. You definitely could not enjoy the beach or the view
- Nkosi Kulumumba (10/5): - Great staff and accommodations.
- Olivia (10/5): - Super nice property, staff was very friendly! Would definitely stay again! Note that the area on the beach strip is very expensive dinning and limited transportation options that don’t break the bank! Bike rentals are you best option but even on the beach front road you have to pay to park your bike for dinner.
- Eli (10/5): - Love the Location and the proximity to the beach. I had ocean front room. The bar at the front of the hotel needs some type of ventilations. It gets hot while sitting enjoying a drink.
- R4863MBlaural (2/5): Not recommendable. - We stayed there for almost a week. Two nights before the end of our stay, the electricity went out in the middle of the night. We had to spend the night awake because it was impossible to sleep with the heat and whiteout water. We went hours not being able to use the toilet or get a shower when it was almos 90 degrees. The next morning the receptionist told us that they didn’t have an estimate of when the power was going to come back. We requested a refund because we had to go to another hotel. They said that it was ok, that they will refund us. Nothing happen after, nobody answered us, and nobody answers our emails or calls. We had to denounced them to our bank so what we paid was adjusted. We are still disputing it. Besides that, the “continental breakfast” is coffee, a plate of fruit and a plate of bread. It doesn’t have a swimming pool. There many other offerings in Tulum that have much better amenities and service. Not recommendable.
- Veronique (9/5): Zalig rustig hotel met alle nodige comfort! Aanrader! Make up spiegel zou een plus zijn.
- Andrea (6/5): - Well… I was there 2 weeks and The staff A+. Helpful and sweet. The bed A+ in comfort D- sheets. Sweating all night, but that is partly due to them shutting the ac off in the middle of the night. You can turn it back on but that means I woke up every night after 3:30 literally soaked, wet bed sheets and all to turn it back on. So 💩 sleep. The beach was piled with seaweed, I could have gotten over that if maybe the pool had more privacy. At 1st glance you will be impressed but upon examination it was semi- dilapidated. Stains on the white curtains, buckling patio boards. Etc. which again I could have overlooked if not for the ac and lack of warm water. Daily cold showers really blow. The water was not even on when I 1 st arrived, that took a few hours and by then I missed the activity I was going to. Messed up my whole 1 st day. 🚕 are starting at 35 usd just to go anywhere at all. So rent a car or ya… oh and food takes forever and is mostly mid for the price but I only tried a couple things. Oh and this is petty but a man definitely designed this space. No bidet, no removable shower head and 💩 lighting for vanity. So ya in all, I feel catfished. This is not whatever stars it claims. I feel bad telling the truth bc staff was so nice but ya. For like 120 less a night I would have been like ok ya.

- Cathymca (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel with private pools! - Excellent, friendly and helpful staff handling all issues and special requests quickly and effectively. Very good food and excellent cocktails. Lovely views and I loved the personal pool! Large rooms, double sinks and double showers were great! (Clear glass showers mean suitable mainly for couples.) Very well appointed room with all you need, yoga mat, fridge, safe, beach towels etc. Very comfortable beds. Air conditioning works great. The walkways are all outdoors with sand, but the hotel provides water foot baths to wash feet in front of the rooms. Close to ruins and other sites. Drink prices were really expensive, but might be the trend in Tulum. We arrived during a particularly bad season of seaweed, making the beach unusable -- not the hotel's fault! -- but it was an easy drive to a nearby beach club that had a cleaner beach. Highly recommend a vehicle since the area isn't very walkable (no sidewalks and only limited businesses nearby). I guess a lot of people like the sand everywhere due to the beach vibe it gives, but I would have personally preferred wooden walkways.
- James (10/5): Wonderful and peaceful getaway in paradise! - Rooms were space and beautifully decorated. Steps away from the beach. Hotel restaurant and beach restaurant provided both excellent food & service. Staff was absolutely fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Nothing
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Experience - Great service and hotel
- Gabriela (10/5): - I’m rating this property 5 stars because the rooms are wonderful!! The beds are very comfortable, bathroom is huge and the shutters make the room dark. The icing on the cake is the private pool in the patio! If you asked for the staff to warm it up, it stays on until 10pm and it’s the absolute perfect temperature. I’m not sure if all the upstairs rooms are the same but we were put initially in an upstairs room and the AC was via control and very weak, making the room hot. They immediately moved us downstairs and it was the perfect temperature with actual central air conditioning. The ambiance in the hotel was boring as not many people on the property. The beaches in tulum are ugly due to algae and the hotel pool is a joke, barely bigger than a jacuzzi. Also the hotel food is not that good. BUT like I said, perfect room with an amazing private pool. The hotel is within 1/2 mile from the main strip (1 mile from major clubs, 20 min walk). The area was very safe to walk even though the hotel is not right next to the action. Gym is also small but has weights up to 60 lbs dumbbells, cardio machine, bench and curl bars. The staff is very nice and even though we staid out late every night in the pool, they never said anything to us. I’d definitely stay here again.
- Frank (10/5): - The property itself was great. Right on the beach, the room had a private pool. It was a perfect getaway spot if you are looking to be a $20-30 ride away from the big parties. The staff was readily available to help via WhatsApp.
The rest of this list is not really the fault of the hotel but something travelers should be aware of:
-May through September is peak sargassum (type of seaweed) season so the beach and water are not really accessible.
-The constant reminder to tip and “tip is not included” was a bit annoying. It didn’t change my standard 20% tips but the frequency was annoying
-The hotel advertises as “LGBTQ+ friendly.” I’ll say they are “admitting” but not “friendly.” The little jokes and laughs each time an attendant would walk by or after taking an order was a bit childish. Granted, I wasn’t expecting PV- or MC-level friendliness in Tulum but this was unwelcome.
All that being said: hotel gets a 5; service 4; Tulum as an LGBT+ welcoming place gets a 2.
- Ivan (10/5): - Staff
- Abigail (8/5): - The property was excellent. The rooms were gorgeous and well serviced throughout our stay. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The 4 starts is purely for the fact that like everywhere in Tulum & southern Yucatán peninsula the sargassum seaweed was awful and made it impossible to swim in the ocean and smelled gross. No fault of the facility. One lady said it’s the worst she’s seen it in 12 years.
But the area was very slow as well which pro- we felt like royalty but definitely was not super ideal. Not really close to anything other than a couple of restaurants. No shopping.
The food at the hotel was TOP TIER. amazing. The octopus chips app thing was incredible.
Also the most comfortable hotel bed & pillows I’ve ever experienced
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic hotel - This was the best hotel experience I’ve had. We stayed a few months ago, but it didn’t save my review I guess. The staff are amazing, literally 12/10 service. The location is fantastic, with a very nice beach and great food/drink options.
- Callaghan (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (6/5): - We liked the room it was spacious with a comfortable bed.
The bathroom had a large walk in shower which was great.
We did not like that the staff were more concerned about what tip you would give even for just putting a drink in front of you on the bar.
Even for the free breakfast we were presented with a zero bill and prompted to give a tip.
I found this most bizarre.
The seaweed on the beach made it very smelly not the hotel’s fault but there were no attempts to clear it in the 4 days we were there.
The beach bar/club was very shabby. Really just a hut with old wooden tables and chairs.
The outdoor pool although it looked a decent size in the advertising was really small!!
Quite a disappointing experience.
We did like Tulum town good restaurants and bars a reasonable prices.
The hotel bar was expensive.
- andrewsZ6959BY (6/5): Very disappointed - From all the photos it looked amazing!
In reality it was disappointing.
The room was good.
Enjoyed the large double shower and the bed was comfortable.
The bar had no atmosphere as no one really used it due to the high prices even on local drinks.
The outdoor pool with looks large in the photos was tiny and more like a plunge pool.
The beach bar /club was really poor consisting of a hut and old wooden tables and chairs!
The seaweed covered beach was not their fault but in 4 days there was no effort to clear it.
The staff were not really interested in serving the customers only the bill at the end where they just pushed for a tip even after just serving 2 drinks at the bar!
Even for the included continental breakfast we were presented with a bill to sign and pushed for a tip?
I found this tip hungry attitude off putting and made me less likely to tip!!
- jessicasP7949KK (6/5): Beautiful hotel, but the experience was ruined by the theft of my jewelry - BAD :
- Very disappointed that someone stole my jewelry from my room while we were out (felt safe, let them in my toiletry bag not in the safe...) I reported it to the hotel, but they didn't follow up. (No doubt about the story unfortunately... someone from the staff entered in our room...)
- The private pool was very cold.
- Food and drink prices are too high (though the happy hour on the beach was good).
- Service is a bit slow, both in responding to questions and for room service (which already includes a 20% tip).
GOOD :
-Beautiful rooms (modern, big, well-decorated)
-Calm
-Private beach
-Pretty good food at the restaurant
- Staff is nice (except the one that stole my jewelry...)

- Danko (8/5): Very good - A small but very nice hotel, the beds are very comfortable, the rooms are extremely comfortable.
Beautiful beach bar. 1. The staff was divided, some were very kind, some half-kind, if you don't leave a big tip when paying in a restaurant or on the beach, they get offended, which I think is very ugly.
2. Too much grass on the beach, a 5-star hotel shouldn't allow that, since we saw that other hotels of that rank clean it daily, for that reason I wouldn't come again.
3. If you plan to dress fancy to go to the city or some restaurant, plan to have your feet full of sand, because there are no paths you can walk on ( A much bigger problem for women who like to wear heels)
4. Taxi drivers charge 25US for a 2km ride, do not take a taxi.
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erica (6/5): Over priced hotel based on the amenities they offer. - The ocean front room was very nice large and comfortable. The food did not meet my expectations at all. If you are there for a special occasion they do not have anything to elevate your experience. There wasn't anything to do around the hotel beside the beach.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
