Guest Reviews
- AníbalRojas (2/5): - In fact, I only stayed one night for the reason the hotel was disgusting, the shower was ready dirt. I make a claim to Expedia and still waiting for answers. Aníbal Rojas, coloides@hotmail.com
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There's nothing to like about the property besides the staffs that are very nice
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Comfortable bed and good AC. The bathroom could use a lil more cleaning. I got to hear people from upstairs talking like they were in my room next to me. It is a great location and for one night I needed a place to stay. I recommend Noise Cancelling Ear Plugs if you're going there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Monumental in every way but that of course depends upon your expectations. If you are content with modesty value and average comfort with nothing else then you will get a monumental nights sleep.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My room was very small. My room had no windows and no ventilation in the bathroom to suck up bad air out. The bed was very uncomfortable. The motel charged an extra $10 every time someone comes over to my room even if they aren’t staying over. The sink in the bathroom leaked and water was all over the floor everytime I use it. The TV only had 1 channel. The remote for the A/C can’t barely work because the battery in the remote never got changed. The rooms are so small, you can hear other people talking as they are in the room with you. This hotel is in a good location, that’s the only good thing about it, everything else not so good. I was supposed to stay there for 2 weeks but I ended up leaving after 5 days. On my last day there, as I started packing my bag, there was a lizard wondering around my room, it just freaked me out. Next time I go to Dominican Republic, I rather pay more to stay at an all inclusive hotel with pool and everything. I thought I was saving money by staying at a cheap motel but I ended up spending more.
- Angie (10/5): Cheap, clean, private, in the perfect spot! - Love this place! Friendly people, great location, good AC.
It's not perfect, but for the price, I have no complaints. If you want a pristine resort, go pay for one. This place was cheap and clean.
- Jean (2/5): - this is the worst hotel ever. what a nightmare. they made me pay 12$ more after I booked with expedia. They did not hive any breakfast and ask for another 6 $. there is no hot water and the room is dirty as hell. bed is uncomfortable. stay away from this place even if it was free. they are making a bad name for themselves. it's a shame because they are very well located.
- Justin (2/5): - I was placed in a bad location and my wallet was stolen the first night. For 175$ I got a new room in an amazing spot for the complete 3 nights of my vacation. I’d assume Expedia only paid 25 or so a night for my original room that I couldn’t turn around in. And they tried to make me pay again once I got there. If I wouldn’t of had a translator friend I would of paid for it twice
- Verified traveler (6/5): USA / Eagle . - No Hot water !!!
Imagine taking a shower in cold water..ceiling has water stains,no microwave to warm something,It wasn’t all that .
- meryjex (2/5): Needs remodelation - This hotel needs some serious remodelation and upgrade
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst hotel I stayed at - I'll never return it should be shut down staff was terrible food rotten room disgusting I won't trust Expedia again.
- julio (6/5): Nice hotel on el conde street - I like this hotel because is located in the center of the action of this magnificent Colonial Zone. I felt like in a resort full of nice and warm people...The staff of Monumental were always happy and willing to help the guess in a lay back Island way.. el señor 'moreno' was amazing with his low key happy personality... It's a modest play with great staff....The breakfast could be better. The yuca pure with sauteed salami was fantastic.. The cheese and ham sandwiches with ketchup, no bueno......
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room Very Small; The Location was good; Easy Access to restaurant and stores..
- im Daniel (2/5): Worst hotel I've ever stayed in, & I travel a lot! - They only cleaned the room if you ask them to... out of six days , they cleaned the room once
- Theron (6/5): No frills, center of colonial zone - On the main commercial drag of Valle el Conde. Clean, basic rooms, cable, private baths. There's a 15 peso (about 35 cents US) parking garage half a block away.
- Guy (2/5): ? - FRIENDLY EMPLYEES BUT NOT RECOMMENDED
- Pauline (4/5): Hotel monumental Zona colonial santo domingo domin - I read the reviews and decided to try it. I love the location. It is a budget hotel,no frills. The owner Mr.Baldemiro, chaffeur Basillio, Night Receptionist Renard all very well coming . I had a single room, read in the reviews that there was no windows so was not surprised, didn't mind. I was only there to shower and sleep. The room was clean, broken toilet seat.Breakfast included did not go down too early for me.Only noise I heard was guest out in the hall way passing along.Good for sleeping, very quiet I was on the second floor as I had requested. Room was not cleaned during my entire stay but I had read that from reviews and I brought my cleaning supplies. No problem since I was prepared, I was asked by the reception if my room was cleaned, told him no but I clean myself.I had soap and toilet paper but also brought my own.I would return I felt very welcome.Knowing what to expect from the reviews I have no complaints except the toilet seat.location is perfect.restaurants every where you turn.grocery store within a 5 minute walk from the hotel.Security is 24/7 doors always locked one must be buzzed in,feel very safe. I know the area from my previous visits and the Colonia zone is beautiful and I am a walker there fore I walked to China town and back.felt safe.
- carppie (4/5): Nice location busy centre - I am glad I only booked for one night. The room I got was like a cramped box without a window. Dripping ac, rotening wooden door frame, dampness, a disgusting looking shower and sink.
The room could do with redecorating. The ac is at a pre setting so if it's on, after a short while it gets too cold and if off can get too warm.
All makes for a poor night sleep.
I need to return to the city again, if I need to stop over, I will not use that hotel
Staff are nice.
- Danny (2/5): Awful - Didn't receive reservation until I was checking out. TV didn't work. Breakfast sent me to bathroom. Would not recommend this to my enemies. Will never use expedia or Spirit airline again.
- ANGELA (2/5): WORSE HOTEL MY MOM STAYED AT. - MY MOM LIKED THE AREA BUT NOT HOTEL CLEANESS, SHE HAD PROBLEM WITH LIGHT, AC, NOT TOOTH PASTE, BAD.
