Guest Reviews
- Sabi (9/5): Superb - Location Nothing
- Lou (8/5): Great value. I've stayed here many times and this is one of my first choices when looking at hotel -
- Arif (9/5): Superb -
- Idan (9/5): Superb -
- Reyna (9/5): Superb -
- Frazer (6/5): Pleasant -
- Helen (4/5): This hotel was unfortunately a disappointment - Close to the Cozumel ferry terminal
The helpful maintanence staff. Strong smell chemical smell in the room.
No staff in reception. There was only a telephone number for emergencies.
When I arrived from a long journey they offered me an apartament because the AC in my room did not work and should be fixed during the evening. The problem was that there was no water in the apartment!
I left this hotel one day in advance.
- Fernando (9/5): Superb - For me the best thing was the restaurant ChanPan, the breakfast is very good with a low price, also the location is good because it’s a block away from the 5th avenue.
- Inara (9/5): Superb - Design of the room, beds. Personal does not speak english. We asked for one more day, but offer was too expensive, so we moved to another hotel.
- Bill (8/5): It's a very satisfactory place, particularly if you are on a limited budget. - In earlier years the breakfast was free and in the main hotel building, and this time it was next door and a modest fee was charged. It is quiet in itself, but it is next door to the local small plane airport so during the day (not night) you can hear some planes. but not bad. It's walking distance to the beach and near the main tourist stores area, but not so close that the noise is a problem. This long message covers both my pro and con thoughts about Real del Mayab.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet location, close to main areas, very kind staff. Would stay again.
- Timothy (8/5): - The good:
- great location, right next to the Quinta Avenida (main pedestrian street)
- room and beds were basic but nice enough
- air conditioning, wi-fi, cleaning service
- inexpensive
The not-so-good:
- The front desk is not 24-hour, contrary to what is claimed on Expedia. Office hours are from 7 AM to 9 PM. That is according to the sign on the door. But even that is not respected, because when I arrived to check in at 7 PM, no one was there. The door gives a phone number for outside those hours, but when I called it and asked about the hotel, the person who answered didn't seem to know what I was referring to.
- Insects (cockroaches) occasionally make their way into the rooms.
- The building has an open ceiling, so it can be noisy. Expect to hear loud planes flying overhead (there is a small airport nearby), as well as what sounded like a rooster, crowing every morning.
- Irene (7/5): Good -
- Aline (6/5): It’s simply but it’s worth the price it’s close to everything - It’s very to everything My shower was cold
- Thomas (8/5): - Basic clean hotel close to the ferry dock and bus depot.
- Nina (10/5): Relaxing stay @Playa Del Carmen - Everyone was so caring and friendly. They allowed us to check in at 1 am because our flight was delayed. They also have a small bakery/brunch space next door, where the prices are so reasonable and the food delicious- we ate there every day. The rooms are comfortable, clean and it’s quiet not like the rest of PDC. It’s also very central, 1 mean from taxi station, 5 min from ADO, 3 min from Playacar ect. Just the wifi was very poor upstairs, I could not work and had to hotspot and use roaming but besides this, everything was really great.
- Sheik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrienne (10/5): Quiet hotel just steps from all the action - Great value small hotel steps from the main shopping center/pedestrian street/beach yet very peaceful and quiet at night. Appreciate the working a/c, clean facilities, free drinking water and friendly staff. They were able to accommodate our request for a parking spot. Also had a nice breakfast at the little restaurant next door. The pillows were relatively flat and hard
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location and great value - Conveniently located about a 5 minute walk from the ADO bus station. Clean, comfortable, secure rooms. Friendly service. I liked that there was a safe in the room to keep valuables. It's in a quiet area , but close enough to easily get to bars and restaurants. The restaurant right next door serves a very good breakfast for a great price.
- Fabiola (10/5): - Todo muy limpio y personal muy amable.
- Angela (9/5): Excellent place for a family that’s spending days touring Mayan ruins, cenotes & snorkeling. We left early and retu - Central location, felt safe & liked having the convenience of a kitchen in our room. Had problems with the toilet pressure - didn’t flush well
- Edwin (9/5): Superb -
- Sanja (10/5): - Very simple, clean and quiet hotel with great location.
- Fablazio (8/5): Very good - Friendly and available staff. Very clean rooms and great position located in the city center.
- Christian (8/5): Very good - Incredibly close to many tourist area and to ADO station. Big room. Aircon and fan. Nice staff. Wall to a neighbouring room was partly just some wood. Every word (if spoken or tv) from the other room could be heard all day and night. Bed linen surely were washed - but not really clean as apparently heavily used already.
- Paula (8/5): - The staff was very good but the shower was terrible. Water pressure was low and it came out either very hot or cold no in between.
- Sally (10/5): Lovely comfortable hotel with kind owners - The owners are so friendly and their little restaurant next door is so delicious! The beds are comfy, the wooden furniture is beautiful, the blankets and curtains are lovely cotton with earth shades. The hotel has a giant tree in the center courtyard where you can relax. It is quiet so no street noise yet well located. We could walk to the bus station and ferry dock as well as to the collectivo station to go to Cenote Azul and Punta Esmeralda. The price point is also excellent. Nothing
- Bob G (10/5): - Was very good, bed was comfortable and for being so close to the action was very quiet. Had a great stay.
- Jana (8/5): Just enough. - Nice stay, if you just want a clean room to sleep in. No hot water, but worked out ok, I was surprised I could take it. Lol. Very low wifi so can’t hook up Roku to tv. Bed was adequate. Best part, you walk out your door and your at everything. They say there’s breakfast but yet to find it. They do have a fridge hidden inside cabinet. Oh and a lovely bird hidden in tree within garden that caws everyday, that was cool! If need be would stay again.
- Fushan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bill (8/5): I've stayed there at least 3 or 4 times so the price, location, and facility was fine. - In past years at this hotel there was a breakfast available right there for free or minimal price. This time there nearest (continental type offering) was next door and was not as extensive in options. I'm not sure whether it is affiliated or not. There is a taxi stand at the end of the block so cabs were easily obtained day or night at any hour. Not their fault, but it is located next to the smaller planes airport, so during the daylight hours you could hear them taking off sometimes during the day.
- John (8/5): Comfortable stay in Playa - mostly quiet at night
close to beach no hot water in shower
that you have to use a key to unlock to get into building
than you use the same key to lock same door from inside
than another key to get into the room
- Gunner (8/5): Quaint and tidy! - Location was good, close to everything you need but quiet at night.
Bakery next door serving brewed coffee...nice!
Hot water worked, it just took some time to get there! Beds and linens were decent and clean but are showing their age too much.
Room size was basic standard, decent for just sleeping.
Wifi did work, but seemed spotty in the evening when all traveller's were back in their rooms??
- Don (8/5): Very good - Located away from noisy areas of Playa Del Carmen Wifi was weak
- Tim (5/5): Good value, convenient location, but BRING EAR PLUGS! The apartment rooms are actually in building adjacent (on the ri - Location Street noise.
- Douglas (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Every day we came back to a very clean room with animal towels.
- Sandeep (9/5): Superb - Location
- Walter (9/5): Superb -
- Ethan (8/5): Very good -
- Dziurman (10/5): Exceptional - Very wecolming, profesjonal and accomodaiting All good
- Andreas (9/5): Superb - Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location WiFi connection
- Olena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hendrik (10/5): Lovely hotel with friendly staff, good breakfast and good location - The staff was very friendly, especially the lady in the kitchen was very helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast for 100 pesos was delicious. The hotel was central and close to the beach, restaurants and main tourist areas. The parking was very convenient right in front of the hotel. The room was a nice size. The free filtered water was nice to have. We will be back and I definitely recommend this nuce hotel for budget conscious travelers. The water in the shower was not consistent, sometimes only very bot water cane out, and sometimes no water came out, but that was during the busy periods. Just a recommendation, it would be nice to have one English movie channel and one English news channel on the tv, as all channels were in Spanish, except MTV, the music channel.
- Miguel (10/5): - Excelente staff , amigables y muy serviciales y muy limpio , muchas gracias
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (9/5): Superb - Everything! Nothing
- Jerry (9/5): Superb - Everything! Nothing
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eunhye (9/5): You can’t beat the price and the location. Well worth the money! - It is conveniently located near the downtown. It is well worth the money. Not enough towels.
- Norma (2/5): - Nothing about the picture on rhe website terrible very disappointed
- Stefan (8/5): I will book it again if I come back to Playa del Carmen. - Big bottle of water inkluded (water for maybe a couple of weeks).
Good location at taxistation and close to ferry and ADO bus station. No internet during the days. only during evenings.
- Cristhy (10/5): - All the necessary things we need for our activities.
- Mariana (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (10/5): Excelent location with friendly staff - Excellent location, less than 5 mins walk to ADO Bus Station and 5th Avenue. Had the benefit of enjoying the lively and noisy 5th Avenue, but with the ability to return to a quiet hotel for a good nights sleep. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Chamber Maid's origami with bathroom towels suprised and delighted us each day. Would definitely stay here again.
- Deepa (8/5): - Close to 5th avenue, beach is walkable. Only problem we had is the bathroom shower, water pressure is very very low.
- Carlos (8/5): Nice location close to many attractions - The location is very convenient. They should provide a bottle of water
- Lærke (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Pacheco (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location nice and comfy rooms friendly staff Totally happy
- Kathleen (5/5): Passable -
- Aimee (8/5): Great staff, clean rooms and a fantastic location! - Really friendly staff and a great location for what we needed. The beds are a little hard, but nothing that’s not manageable for a couple of nights.
- Brean (7/5): Not as advertised. No breakfast, washer/dryer, and terrible internet. Great locationand friendly staff. - Location was great! They advertised for some things, but didn’t have breakfast, washer/dryer, and the internet was terrible! So if any of those are important for you, you might want to look elsewhere.
- Jane (10/5): Super! Thank you! -
- Johnny (10/5): Big, comfortable, quiet room. - Big, comfortable, quiet room. Nice interior courtyard garden.
- Gustavo (9/5): Superb -
- Canales (3/5): Poor -
- Sally (8/5): cosy! - amazing location! Carlos (owner) and his staff are super friendly and very helpful. they also kindly kept our luggage for two days while we visited another place down the coast. there is an amazing turtle ornament collection in the reception which I meant to take a pic of- collected over years!
nice big room also! only thing I would maybe do to the room I was in was update the shower a bit ( still worked and was hot etc!)
- Doug (10/5): I miss it already - location was fantastic. so close to 5th ave and the ferry pier and ADO terminal. Yet it was in a quiet neighborhood I liked everything
- M (8/5): Very good - Roomy. Clean. Comfy and Quiet room
Hot water
Friendly staff
Central location.
Right near a mall and ferry to Cozamel
You have use of a communal kitchen area

- Julia (8/5): Very good -
- Holly (9/5): Superb - The people there are very helpful and nice.
- Marlene (10/5): Our go to place when we stay in Playa Del Carmen . Well kept with lovely little courtyard . We will stay again ! - Beautiful quiet little hotel close to beach and 5th Ave . Everything was perfect .
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (10/5): Fine for the money. - Staff were great. Location was convenient. A/C worked well. Good security. Bed is hard.
- Bill (8/5): Very good -
- Sophie (6/5): Good location - Great location for the town, near the bus station and ferry port for Cozumel.
Comfortable beds, air con and fan. The staff didn’t speak much English so was difficult for us to communicate and get any advice/recommendations.
- L (9/5): Overall a very nice hotel to stay. I would come back again. An excellent staff as well. - Spacious room with accommodations of a roomy apartment. Amenities in the room were more than adequate. The air conditioner in the apartment kept the temperature nice and cool. The room was very clean as well. Parking was available in front of the hotel but with limited parking spaces. Not much to complain about except for the early morning noise of the taxi drivers talking and sometimes playing music loud at 6:30 am. With the windows closed you can still hear the ambient noise from the street below.
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. On site parking. Cheap breakfast, $100mxn per adult buffet style. Close to beach but you have to walk through the mall and fight your way through the vendors to get there. Beds were so uncomfortable and the pillows were very flat. AC didn't really work. Fan was broken and set to a very slow speed. Multiple lights were out in the bathroom and bedroom. Constantly flickering. TV had very limited channels. Staff was aware and didn't offer to fix or were unable to fix lights.
- Yuchen (9/5): Great for leisure travel - - very convenient location
- nice receptionist
- quiet at night
- great water pressure
- comfortable room - stained towels
- unstable wifi
- Claudia (8/5): Really good first stay in Mexico - My partner and I stayed here in November for a few days. Great position as it is close to the ferry terminal, bus terminal and beginning of the Quinta Avenida. Really quiet at night. Clean and big rooms with big bathroom where we managed to wash our scuba equipments (we are divers) and let them dry on one side of the room. One of the best thing is that they have water for free for clients! Mattress was a good and hard one. The room can be really hot but it had air-con and fan on the ceiling which helped really a lot. We booked a whole day trip to Chichen Itza through the reception of the hotel from one day to another and they picked us up exactly at the agreed time in front of the hotel. Lots of taxis in front of the hotel too at any time of the day. Small fridge, hangers, locker, towels, soap bar and shampoo locally made and available in the room The heat in the room at night was too much (I don't like to have air-con on), and the window was not enough to bring fresh air in. No possibility of having breakfast (which is something that I usually appreciate), but it looks like they stopped making breakfasts when covid started
- Martin (10/5): Amazing little place - Location was awesome, it was minutes from the main pier, main street full of restaurants and shops and minutes from the beach. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were well equipped, comfortable and clean. Definitely would recommend, amazing stay for a great price.
- Minghui (10/5): Good hotel to stay - Go location! The room is clean. I would like to return
- Yanping (9/5): Superb -
- Melisa (7/5): Good - - great location
- fridge in the room
- Aircon in the room
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Osvaldo (8/5): Very good -
- Abel (9/5): Superb -
- Vitor (8/5): Very good - xcaret park, snorking in Cozumel, Coco Bongo, restaurants and shopping in Playa del Ca
rmen Beach in Playa del Carmen crowded and not do clean
- Boris (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful and warm staff and very accommodating. I had to store my luggage in their office so I could catch the very early tour to Chichen Itza. The staff waited until I returned at 10PM and finally checked in. They wanted to make sure I was settled and okay. What excellent and caring service! I would definitely stay again!!
- Sivan7 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sivan7 (10/5): Great hotel - best location - It is a great located hotel that has 24 hours reception so easy to get. They communicate well. Hotel is very clean. We stayed twice during our trip and get two different rooms. Only difference was the water pressure. Ground floor was fine and on the second floor it was lower. Staff speaks English and are ready to help. We will come again. Thank you. Water pressure on the second floor was bit low.
- Nataliia (9/5): The best location - The location is perfect. The personal so quiet and never bother you, that you don't see them but if you need they are close. The room was good, nothing special but at the same time comfortable. My windows was inside the hotel, so was quiet. No iron, poor water pressure.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Nice people, wifi and the area. I always stay here and it's cheap. Great wifi too. Nothing
- Kevin (8/5): Very good - The staff and the appartment by itself is just perfect as usual. I always go at that place since almost 20yrs now 👌🏼👌🏼 The taxis Driver favorite pee spot right on the front door of the appartment on the side of the building. This bad thing need to be fixed as soon as possible. It's a terrible smell
- Tanya (9/5): Nice hotel in a great location - Great location, good size room, helpful staff
- Mansoor (8/5): Very good -
- Rohn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohamed (9/5): Superb - Location private entrance to the apartment and well equipped kitchen The shower water pressure was low and bathroom sink water pressure was low
- yaling (10/5): - Quite area, nice staff, cool ac, convenient location
