It was chilly for April but that didn’t stop the fun of walking the beach watching surfers in the waves and the views. The Vista is close to grocery store which is convenient close to a Pizza restaurant and a half hour drive to Salem and Rockport is also close by.

It’s very basic, looks like something from the 1980s, but everything is executed well. Location is great, views live us to the “Vista” name, great beach just down the road. Very clean, nice dog run. And get this. Dog run was completely free of dog waste! That’s a first for me. Breakfast was a limited menu, but did the job. Staff was very friendly and helpful. 100% would recommend.

Views from the balcony were beautiful, watch the sunrise over the ocean in the mornings. It's a few minutes drive into gloucester but outside of town enough to make you feel relaxed. Breakfast was fairly simple with a range of fruits, yogurts, croissants, coffee, tea and juices. Just a nice simple breakfast to get you on your way. The grounds around the place were well kept and clean. Everyone of the staff members were very friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our stay and will plan to return. Felt everything was great. Nothing bad to say.

- colleend80 (4/5): Disappointed - We were told we had the best view in the hotel, we didn’t, we had room 10 and if you stood between the beds on your tippy toes you could see the view of the ocean in the distance, we were traveling with my friends dog and saw other guests who did not have prior reservations like us have rooms with dogs with full slider views. We were also told the pool was heated and would be open and it was not. The worst part was as soon as they see you leave for the day they should off the AC and heat and you have to call them and ask them to turn it on when you get back. The free continental breakfast was good.

- Thomas (6/5): Needs updates - I'm have been a flight attendant for 46 years and needless to say I have stayed in thousands of hotel. I will give an honest review of the property. At check in the receptionist was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and professional. Upon entering the room I was a little disappointed at the size of the room, especially the bathroom. In my opinion it could have been much better designed as far as the layout. The view from my room #2 was partially obscured by two large trees on the property below the hotel. The shower in the bathroom was so small that I would imagine a person of size would have a difficult time. The breakfast was very minimal. I actually didn't return for the breakfast the second morning because it only consisted of Costco croissants and activa yogurt and fruit. (Banana or apple was offered). The overall property is exceptionally maintained. There are 2 major grocery stores very close by which was great. For me once was enough at this hotel. If I ever return to Gloucester I will look elsewhere.
- V253VXgeraldinel (10/5): Staff is the crowning jewel - Great location and as the name says the view was beautiful even from our 1st floor room. Didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked clean and I was told at check in that it was heated. The included breakfast was sufficient. The staff is really the reason to book, I phoned ahead for restaurant suggestions I got a great one thanks to Jack, I didn't get the breakfast attendant's name but she was very helpful with information also. Everyone from check in to check out were fantastic. Will definitely be going back.

- mro488 (10/5): A Great Motel with a Great View! - This was our 6th time staying at The Vista. Most recently we stayed five nights in one of their Premium rooms (which has a small kitchenette). The Vista met all our needs and exceeded our expectations. It is one of the most well-run hotels I have stayed in. Everything is very clean and works well. Every single staff person we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and professional. This place is not fancy, but it is everything I want in a hotel by sea. And the views, ah the views.

- Daniel (1/5): This hotel should not be in your list! - The location is great with a nice view This a very old motel which has been refurbished , as a result, everything is out of commission such as the bathroom especially the shower is a disaster! All of this for more than $220 a night! They don’t even serve fried eggs and toasts for breakfast! This is the pits!

Each time we return we see something refreshed/updated, and everything - rooms, pool, breakfast area, grounds - is always immaculately clean! Extra bonus? The views of Good Harbor Beach and marsh are unparalled. Highly recommend this property. And book early - lots of repeat customers!!😁

- Wander28803571841 (8/5): Good Stay. Clean and Beautiful location - The location was beautiful and close to everything we planned to do. Bear Skin area, fishing in Gloucester and quick trip to Boston. Room was nice and clean. The bathroom lotion and shampoo dispensers were a plus. My husband simply hated waiting 10 mins for hot water for a shower. Breakfast provided could be upgraded to more than grocery store pastries. Women making coffee and handing store bought goods was a keeper. Its an old Motel and retro which is neat. I would only say that is was alittle pricey.

- Meinhofer (9/5): - The Vista is a popular hotel. It's older but very clean and staff are very accommodating. Nice pool and area to sit to lunch. Rooms are spacious. Receptionists were helpful to provide info on restaurants and places to visit. Our granddaughters beanie baby was lost in the sheets and taken to the laundry and receptionist Tia made extra efforts to find Baby Dog . My granddaughter was elated at having him returned! Lastly the location is perfect. Close to the beach and other sites. We were surprised that we were located on top level and had to drag our luggage up 19 stairs to our room. Later we learned there was another entrance with 8 stairs. But as Seniors stairs and luggage are a big pain.

- smiling4unow (10/5): The Vista is our home away from home. - I wish a 10 was available because that's how wonderful this place is. We just enjoyed our 53rd yr at Vista & it gets better every year. Laura & Gary are the best hosts who employ the best employees. From Mike who overseas the whole venue to Ana at the breakfast patio & MC who goes back to the University tomorrow. Everyone one is sooo accommodating. They're improving & updating constantly with great wifi & Roku & the huge buttery croissants are to die for at the free breakfast patio. Oh don't forget to get those yummy lobster rolls & pizza at a great price down the road & enjoy relaxing at the Vista patio. We love you Laura ♡

Did not have time to use the pool but saw it being cleaned in the morning. Two issues: GCFI outlet didn't work in bathroom and need bigger and better non-skid stickies in the tub (VERY slippery!)
- andreakP2586JC (10/5): Love the Vista! - We have been coming to the Vista for years and love it there and the renovations have only made it more enjoyable. It is ideally located, within walking distance to Good Harbor Beach. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and they allow use of their grounds and for you to park your car there on your day of arrival and departure, which is fantastic. It's incredibly clean and the little efficiency in the room really has everything you need. The pool is great and the rooms have a lovely view of the beach....can't say enough about this sweet place!
- amandamU7551LJ (10/5): Highly recommend! - Loved our stay at The Vista. Our room overlooked Good Harbor beach, which is only a 10-minute walk away and one of the loveliest beaches around. Our room was spacious and clean. Service was exceptional, from Robin at the front desk with great restaurant recommendations to Mike kindly running point on breakfast (awesome to have complimentary hard-boiled eggs, bananas, yogurt, lemon blueberry bread, juice and coffee available). Oh and the outdoor pool(!) is heated, plenty of lounge chairs and a "shallow end" space for kids; it was serene during our stay and everyone was respectful of one another. The Vista would be the #1 place I'd recommend to anyone visiting Gloucester.
- 399clairem (10/5): Clean and comfortable motel with beautiful views of salt marshes and Good Harbor Beach - This is a lovingly maintained older motel with beautiful views of salt marshes and Good Harbor Beach. Located in a neighborhood, it is a pleasant walk to the wide, sandy beach with gentle surf and a creek area on one end which is great for kids. Free continental breakfast outside under a tent with views of the marshes and ocean. Pleasant pool area, beautiful flowers and landscaping. Rooms are old school but extremely clean and well cared for. Nice sitting area or balcony through the room’s sliding doors. Yes , you can let in the fresh air!
