Keith (2/5): robbed of no breakfast - There was no breakfast with our booking yet it was advertised with breakfast the Sunday before and yet we paid nearly £10 more for our booking.
Sarah (10/5): excellent accessible overnight stay - I was only staying overnight but I was very comfortable - I am over 80 and disabled so that was very important. The only problem was that although I thought I had booked an accessible room I hadn't so it is important to talk to the reception team - who swiftly corrected that and found me an accessible room within a few minutes. I didn't like the AI receptionist who answered the phone but she is easily sidestepped by just insisting 'Manager' and you get put through. The dinner was very good.

Paul (6/5): Just empty sufficient staff! - Two night break to see a nearby concert. Very pleasant room, well decorated, spacious and clean. Staff friendly enough especially in the bar . The main issue is breakfast where only one member of staff is employed to serve replenish, welcome and at one point manage reception. The poor guy had no chance. On our second morning we just left as it was clear we would be there for a significant time and that no items had been replaced at all at the buffet. Shame

Robert (4/5): Noisy heating and unusable internet - Heating was very noisy all night. Complained and it was the same the next night which caused loss of sleep. Internet connection is terrible (1MB/s) so couldn't work of an evening - mobile signal is non-existent too. Couldn't get a VAT invoice upon check-in but then had to wait a long time to get it on check-out as there was nobody at reception. Refurb is nice though - clean and comfortable. Lack of ability to work online and noisy heating means I will be staying elsewhere.
Cathy (2/5): - The room toilet seat was broken, mentioned it to receptionist who said they couldn’t move the room. The overhead shower didn’t work only the same hand held shower head. Room had no bath, the pipes were banging when shower was in use. There was a bare cable underneath the radiator in the bathroom. Food - over half the menu was not available, no steaks no fish. The reason we had book was due to the menu choices. This was a special occasion and it was ruined. When I complained with frustration at everything which was going wrong. I was told it states on the menu that items might not be available. Then told I wasn’t allowed to have a drink in the bar. We spent £60 on taxis to and from town to be able to have a meal. Absolutely terrible do not stay or plan a meal at this place

Excellent stay, slepts really well all 3 nights we were there and wpuld recommend this accommodation if you dont want to camp at reading festival.

Kevin (8/5): A good hotel & decent pub - Stayed at the Berkshire Arms hotel for a 4 night business trip to the area. I had a double room, which was clean and spacious. The bed was a super king size and very comfortable. The room was incredibly hot however, but luckily a fan was provided which was put to good use as the windows only opened an inch or two due to the security cords attached to them. A decent sized modern flat screen TV and kettle were provided in the room. My one let down was the bathroom was tired looking with what appeared to have been accessories removed from the tiled wall but nothing down to repair or cover this up. I was in a 1st floor room and I don’t believe the hotel has a lift. Several meals were had in the restaurant- these were good pub grub quality food, although I personally thought that drinks were expensive at almost £6 for a pint of peroni - maybe I am out of touch. Other than that very happy with my stay and would stay again if I am in that area.
Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly staff, easy parking, nice room - Nice enough place but staff could be more visible and keep an eye on the door more, I always had to walk around for a few minutes to find anyone at breakfast/evenings to get seated/put an order in, Once found the staff were lovely and service was very quick with great selection of fresh food & drinks, Easy parking, clean room. Slightly concerned I could not lock my room door from the inside, could only use the small chain which can easily be un-done by anyone by just pushing the door open to it's limit, reaching their hand around the door & pushing the chain off the slider rail. Overall it was Ok but I would have liked my door solidly locked at night, seems weird the turn-key lock isn't on both sides. Parking was easy and if you want more space around your car there is an over-flow hotel bit and then the main pub car park too which was empty in the evenings, Big TV in room, wifi was fast enough, very quiet location & tea making facilities in the room as standard. Also the pub doors are open until 11pm but they often cash up at 10:40pm onwards, I understand this is normal but i'd be getting back from work about 10:50pm and had to pleed with them for just 1 pint each night. Staff were lovely & did this for me.

Peter (8/5): Good chain pub with accommodation - I think overall the hotel could be good, especially in the newer extension. However I stayed in older part and it was pretty chilly and a bit basic. The was was big and reasonably well fitted out but there was only one small electric convector heater to heat the entire room. Pub is fine - classic chain pub with food to match but it was hot, well-presented and the staff were all very pleasant. Would definitely stay again, but request a room in the newer section

Paul (4/5): Extremely out dated. - I understand that this is a budget hotel but there are some basic issues. The room is out dated and the shower was mouldy. The bed was worn out and I could feel the springs digging in me. The room was in area my hot (no air con) so I turned off the heater and opened the windows. The walls are paper thin and you can hear conversations in a joining rooms. There is only 1 key per room which is inconvenient when sharing. I was in room 11 which is above the employee smoking area so I woke up to cigarettes smoke.

I tried twice and could only leave a message and my landline number but no one bothered to get back.

Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing - There was a lot of confusion on arrival as a man with same surname as mine had been given my room (I'm a female). I was given another room, however, I was told it was for one night and I would have to move rooms the next day which I refused to do. On checkout they tried to charge me the wrong rate, I was told on checkin that the room I was eventually given was cheaper but this had not been updated on the system. Unfortunately, the problems on departure made me late for my meeting. The attitude of the staff made me feel like this was my fault. Very disappointing. The room was fine for the rate I paid. Surprisingly quiet considering it was located next to a very busy main road. The WIFI wasn't particularly fast. The food at the attached pub was just ok. I visit the area very regularly but would not stay here again. It's not the problem it's how it is dealt with and I don't think this was dealt with very well.

steve (6/5): Noise - Nice hotel, great breakfast but noisy, night time sleeping is disturbed due to noise from other rooms, you can hear people being sick in the toilets and the staff doing the laundry in the morning did not care how much noise they made
Verified traveler (8/5): - As a business traveller a convenient and comfortable place to stay. The only thing that lets it down is the bathroom which, although obviously refurbished, needs thoroughly cleaning. Whichever room I've been in the bath sealant has needed cleaning, and sometimes the glasses are also not as clean as they could be.
Picks (8/5): Great location - A great location. Good choice of food at a reasonable price. The room was a good standard. No problem recommending the hotel.
Deborah (8/5): Enjoyable stay - booked a double room and somehow got the disabled unit. No problem tho, first room as we went through the door - very handy. Greeted well at reception on arrival, but waited ages for someone to attend when checking out. Bathroom fan stuck on all night. The inn was a Chef and Brewer, evening meal was excellent. Breakfast good, although very busy and had to wait for stocks to be replenished (both food and crockery). We stayed due to the concert at Englefield House and obviously most of the other guests, hence why so busy, but knowing this they should have catered a bit better at breakfast.
