Guest Reviews
- Alan (10/5): -
- Garriott (9/5): - The layout of our suite. How bedroom and living room both have sliding doors to beach. Size of suite, you really feel at home and comfortable. Parking is tight
- Max (10/5): -
- Mary (6/5): Great getaway for a winter weekend - Location, accommodations, pool and sauna Our patio door was ajar when we arrived
- Zarco (10/5): -
- Nadeau (9/5): - Pinestead Reef Resort is a very pleasant place to stay. There are so many places to see like Pirates Cove on 31 in Traverse City. Down town you can go to Cherry Republic on main st..
- Brian (9/5): -
- Hilton (10/5): - The value for how nice the rooms are. Great experience!! The first room we were assigned to smelled like smoke. We called the front desk and immediately the gal at the front desk met us at another room for our stay. It was definitely not their fault.
- Jody (9/5): - The rooms were very spacious. The view was amazing! Full-size appliances. Fireplace was a definite plus! The beds were too low & soft. Shower wasn't the best. Bathroom needed update.
- Jennifer (9/5): If you’re looking for a good view of the lake and a comfy stay. - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The handicap bathroom with handicap shower was very useful for our stay. The room was clean. Nice view of the lake. The property itself is a little dated. But other than that, our stay was fine.
- Sullivan (10/5): - The room The snow
- Yvette (10/5): -
- Stacy (9/5): - The view is amazing no matter the season. It is so quiet in the condo unlike hotels where you hear hallway noise like footsteps and doors. Staff is remarkably friendly. And price is fantastic. We just this time found the gem of a restaurant at the neighboring resort and were able to walk through both buildings to enter without having to walk too far outdoors in winter freeze. Pinestead is our go-to place every time we visit TC. Only hesitation is the age of the resort. It isn't fancy but amenities are outstanding and privacy is on point.
- Kurtzal (5/5): - I like the hotel room but it was not clean cobwebs there was dirty things in the drawers people's like past customers stuff was in the drawers like bags and receipts and there's cobwebs everywhere I didn't like the fact that when I got up in the morning that I had to shovel my car out of the driveway because I had no plow until the afternoon time and then when I shoveled it after an hour the guy who plowed the driveway the maintenance guy he buried me back in there trying to shovel again to get my car out of there

- Todd (7/5): -
- James (8/5): It was great and woukd definitely stay here again and recommend to others. - The view from our room was great and the big patio was very nice. The parking lot was a little tight not horrible I drive a truck. Also with no housekeeping until after the 2nd night our trash was overflowing and we still didn't get housekeeping after the 2nd night.

- Ide (10/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Andrea (1/5): Bad - Never actually stayed because key wouldn't open door Tried to check in after midnight per instructions but could not get into room and noone on site to assist
- Linda (9/5): We had an enjoyable stay - The amenities were good the pool was clean, our room was clean. Every thing we needed to cook our meals was available. The bed were soft. Property in general was dated
- Sarah (7/5): Excellent value for older lodging - Very comfortable beds. Kitchen. Pool, hot tub, sauna! Hallways stunk like marijuana and cheap room spray. So thankful room didnt wreak or we wouldve left. We werent told about pool towels at front desk. Wouldve been nice to know ..the lady at check out was fairly indignant about rebooking for the summer.

- Manoj kumar (9/5): -
- Janet (9/5): All in all a really nice place. Has some age to it but it's kept up pretty well - Loved the location. Right on the beach. Nice kitchen and living area Only one minor thing...the kitchen table needs refinishing
- Michele (10/5): It was a very nice to stay when visiting my son. - Clean and organized N/A
- Lona (10/5): -
- julie (7/5): Again, I would stay again just because of the beach, view, and location. - The view and locations were the best. Beach was right there and was great to have this location. I would stay again just for the location, view and the beach. Updates needed badly. Lobby was done and is really nice. Hallways, doors, and just over all was dirty. Needs painting.
Small updates--change locks so only one key is needed or at least put the 2 needed keys on one ring.
- Beverly (9/5): We had a wonderful time! - View, room, beach were great!! Sofa needs to be replaced.
- David (6/5): Close to being great. - The view was wonderful and the room was pleasant. The hot tub was out of order (these things happen, not the hotel's fault), but our room had no towels and no toilet paper- we were given them when asked for along with an apology, but that should never happen.
- Clifford (2/5): This was not even close to what I thought I was reserving. - Good location.Spacious room.Right on the beach. Old well used facilities, stained carpet, doors that didn't lock.Pool area dirty and unkept.Excercise equipment did not work and were in rough shape.Web site showed beautiful room and facilities. For sure not friendly to handicap customers at all,If you walk with a cane avoid this place, and if you use a walker or wheel chair you will be pulling your hair out.How can a public resort be so unfriendly to the handicap? When I called to book this room I told the staff my wife is using a cane and cannot walk very far at all.(recent hip surgery)No warning from them that there are stairs to get to the room, stairs to the pool, and at least a 100 yards from the elevator.

- Nick (8/5): - No USB plugs, No bathroom amenities, but I didn’t check prior to arrival just figured.
- Richard (9/5): Great place to relax. Price was quite reasonable (off-season rates). - The beach view was great, including a morning visit from two mallards, Henry and Henrietta. The hallway approaching the room was a little dim looking, could be improved with better lighting. The dozens of small mylar party strips just outside our sliding glass doors should have been cleaned up before we arrived. But overall the apartment was very comfortable. We rebooked another stay. I mentioned it in the above comments.
- Arnold (10/5): An unexpected delight for off-season visit, exceeding all expectations. - Location was perfect. Room was fantastic. The charger port at bedside didn't work. Had to improvise using other outlets.
- Mary (8/5): Love going here - Was way to hot in the room. Bed was to soft. Has plug in heaters in the room with sink door open in kitchen
- Christopher (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- M-E (8/5): Good deal. - Convenient to Cherry Capital Airport for early AM flight. Reasonable rate. A bit dated, but the room rate reflected this.
- Frank (10/5): I was very happy with the location, the price, and the cleanliness of our room! - It is close to the airport.
- Sara (5/5): - The room was spacious and quiet. The facility was not fully handicap accessible. Yes there were ramps to get inside, but they were inaccessible due to snow. I am an above the knee amputee; I was unable to access the pool area or use my wheelchair inside the room.
- Nicole (10/5): - Beautiful view great service
- Thomas (9/5): - Every room has a full viewof the beachfront. could hav been cleaner. Coffee left in the coffee pot.
- Cathy (10/5): - My fourth time staying and enjoy it every time. Comfortable and close to airport.
- Kelly (10/5): - We stay here whenever we can, we call it our hidden gem and tell all of our friends!
- Brian (9/5): -
- Brian (9/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): It was so lovely to stay in the 3 bedroom that allowed my family to enjoy a winter escape!! Thank you!! - The room we stay in was lovely with a view that was full of joy! Our kids adored the space and the room was everything we needed!! Everything was perfect!
- Curtis (6/5): Convenient, but needs some love. - The room was comfortable. Nice use of space. Open concept. The common area near the front desk was really cute. Beautiful view of the lake , cozy leather couches and a big table for family get togethers. IDK why the extra charge if "we" clean up the area??? The temperature was difficult to moderate. Either too hot or too cold. The bed sheets didn't breath. Woke up with wet sheets each morning. And the Jacuzzi area smelled. That pool area could use a good cleaning and chlorine.
- Todd (4/5): -
- Ronald (10/5): -
- Eric (7/5): -
- Carol (10/5): - Been coming here for years. It's our favorite place to stay. Didn't like that we couldn't stay longer
- Summerville (9/5): - The rooms were great and there was a huge balcony! Very spacious and had everything we needed. We will likely book again.
- Nicole (10/5): - Beautiful and comfortable
- Jan (10/5): It was really uneventful - The cleanliness of the rooms. Nothing
- Nicole (10/5): - Cute comfy rooms
- Erica (8/5): - The suites with the full kitchen, living room and separate bedroom, the double balcony. Even though it was clean, it looked dingy. It definitely needs some painting, maybe new carpet.. it was clean, it just didnt look clean if that makes sense. But the price was good, the view was nice, and we settled into the room. We would stay here again.
- Susan (5/5): Mediocre - Heat didn't work. Scratching noise under bed;so, I slept on couch. I had already Delta with staff re heat and didn't want to come across as unappreciative.
- Bettina (9/5): - View
- Alexis (3/5): Distasteful and disappointing - The view I felt like I was in a basement. There was dust everywhere. There was a note behind the lamp from someone who stayed there in JUNE saying “if you find this , they don’t do a very great job cleaning”
Bird poop everywhere. Overall dirty room. In basement of property. Cleaning staff rolling each other around on concierge cart in parking lot.
Distasteful environment.
- Pete (10/5): Impressed the moment I walked in. - Impressed the moment I walked in. Very spacious. Felt like a home, not a hotel. Comfortable beds and furniture. Incredible view of East Traverse Bay with large beach area and proximity to the water. It was nice and quiet, with no noise from adjoining rooms. Sliding doors led directly out to a grassy seating area for an amazing view. I was not fully aware that this was a time-share set-up, or that it would have a kitchen, but no restaurant. I found what I needed nearby, but did not take advantage of the amenities provided.
- Maxine (10/5): We had a great time thanks to the staff and people and environment at Pinestead reef - Location and cleanliness of everything
Also the kindness of employees Nothing
- Leoma L (10/5): - We had a great stay. It was relaxing and comfy
- Linda (10/5): - The room was great, the view was fantastic! couldn't find the office to check in, other than that everything was great
- Steven (2/5): - musty as hell. fruit flies everywhere. dirty furniture. outdated. room is spacious, which is sad because they could make it rlly nice for that price. smelled like booty
- Ericka (10/5): -
- Renee (5/5): One night close to airport- creepy vibes - The balcony was great. View of the lake was very nice. Very close to the airport Hallways were disjointed and creepy. The hot-tub and pool were basic. Obvious it was owned by an individual and run as an air bnb I wasn’t expecting that. Weird vibe for the price
- Dawn (8/5): - The room was comfortable, except for the fact that the air unit dripped water down the mirror & maintenance said that was normal. Also, the patio area needs to be cleaned and/or swept from all the bugs on the rail.
- Donna (4/5): Waves were nice and people we saw were friendly - The sound off the waves morning and night the unit was The unit was dark when u sat on sofa you sank in hard too get back up most of lamps had bulbs that were burned out the carpet looked filthy the table top was sticky like the finish was coming off I was disappointed for the price we had to pay for two night
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was an amazing stay for my family! Traveling with 3 little children it was perfect. Thank you!
- Jones (8/5): Good accommodations. I would stay there again - I like the location. The pool and hot tub were great. Carpet needed replaced in our unit.
- Ronald W (10/5): - So spacious. Great view iof the bay. very friendly and helpful staff. Great TV station selections. We would come here again.
- Ronald (7/5): -
- LAUREN (10/5): - Loved the room size and the proximity to the beach. Would definitely stay here again
- Heather (8/5): Its ok - Honestly we stay in TC a lot! We have family in the area and a child that attends the college near by. So we have stayed at most the area hotels. This hotel isn't terrible. The location is great! But the rooms are defiantly outdated especially compared to most the other ones in the area. The floor layout of the building is by far the most confusing I've ever seen! The room however was a good size. But it did cost way more then we normally spend so I don't find this hotel worth the cost.
- hannah_gruner (10/5): -
- Nicole (7/5): -
- Mary (10/5): Enjoyable - The room was very nice and so was the view. Will definitely come back. Nothing
- Verified traveler (10/5): My only go-to choice in traverse city - This was easily the BEST resort in Traverse City. It has the largest beach area, spacious rooms, and super comfortable bedding items. Honestly it's rare to find bed that matches home standards. Also plenty of beach chairs.
- Christy (10/5): - Loved that the rooms were directly on the beach.
- Escamilla-Johnson (1/5): Dirty spider resort - Beachfront room nice view Outdated
Bathroom floors dirty, stained carpet,
Infestation with spiders like huge spiders, webs, We had to complain to the fast that we couldn't even walk out into the patio because of the infestation of spiders I sent the maintenance guy who came quickly and cleaned the patio took him about 2 hours to spray with 2 type of chemicals then took a broom and swept all the dead spiders and alive spiders And bugs vacuumed them up. For the rest of the day our room smelled like bug spray. Our curtains were pretty disgusting. The outside Beach furniture has never ever been cleaned. Infested w spiders as well. The beds were hard and Comforter smelled musty. Hallways smelled like sweaty locker room and windows were gross.
And the spiders were identified as brown recluse and widow.. and many others .
- Sennett (8/5): - Lots of fresh air and water views. Lots of spiders on the balcony.
- Snyder (7/5): - Views and beach access awesome. Beds comfortable and plenty of seating.. kitchen nice. Was probably really pretty ten years ago. Smelled musty, crumbs in several chairs, dirty cup in cabinet, small bathroom and decor was outdated.. Coffee was nasty. Spiders all over on the balcony,. Late check in , early check out and no breakfast or coffee outside of room..
