Guest Reviews
- Janice (10/5): Great stay - Great location . Pleasant staff and good food.
- Beth (9/5): Perfect stay whilst attending a local wedding - Lovely building and staff were helpful in the restaurant and bar
- David (8/5): -
- George (10/5): The perfect stop near the M6 - The Bluebird Inn was outstanding, our room was very comfortable and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The location is ideal for breaking a long motorway journey and the team could not have done more to make our stay better. Nothing
- Karen (9/5): - Great service across all aspects of our stay. Conveniently located on the A59
- Pete (9/5): - Comfortable and good location for our needs
- avril (9/5): -
- Judith (10/5): -
- Colette (10/5): Excellent, will definitely return. - I liked the atmosphere when walking in. The decor was homely. The staff were very attentive. Rooms clean and comfortable.
The restaurant food was excellent and very good value for money.
Overall, my experience here was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
- Vagabounde (8/5): Very comfortable bed and good restaurant. Location near by nature park for hikers (6 miles) - Very nice stuff and service. Great food!
- Philip (10/5): -
- Tony (9/5): Excellent value - Excellent as always. Very friendly staff. Large comfortable rooms and really good food. Nothing on this trip. Everything was really good.
- Adam (7/5): Ok but could do better - Location was good for what we required The room needed cleaning properly, the window was filthy
The shower silicone was black mouldy and needed re doing .
- Lucy (10/5): Perfect stay - This was our second stay at Bluebird Inn. We drive up to scotland from london often and need somewhere to stay for a night to break up the journey. The Bluebird is perfect as it isn’t a grim service station hotel, you actually feel like you’re having a mini holiday.
The staff are always so lovely. The pub is great and the restaurant is excellent. Cannot fault it. Rooms are clean and modern whilst keeping a cute country vibe N/A

- Timothy (8/5): Good, safe choice, for a short stay. - Accommodation is clean and comfortable for a stay of 2 nights. Food was good, staff attentive. Being a little picky, the bathroom didn't have an extractor so steamed up a lot, a touch of mold in the bathroom here and there. We had a decent, family room on the ground floor, if you have a room above you, you can hear guests through the ceilings. Food service was quick, good standard, rather than exceptional.
- Phillip (10/5): -
- Henderson (10/5): - Clean comfortable room, excellent shower, restaurant is 100 Not allowed anything from outside. Not that we required it. But had we wanted anything out of hours could of been a bit of a struggle
- John (8/5): -
- Mimi (8/5): - Good location room and food The pillows not comfortable
- Yvonne (6/5): Pleasant stay overnight lovely staff and dinner was good. - Easy access when travelling south No fan in bathroom and shower needed deep cleaning or re grouting.
- John (10/5): -
- David (9/5): The Bluebird Inn was a very good location for a few days holiday. - Breakfast was good, but would have liked more fruit choices.
- chris (10/5): Overnight Stay - Excellent as ever, no complaints. Highly recommended Nothing !
- Howard (9/5): Great hotel - Staff very helpful and friendly Bar closed at 10pm on the friday night . We got back from a birthday celebration at 9:58 and wasn't able to buy any drink then to take to the room as the tills were off. Could get even if they rung them through the till the following morning. Not good when the hospitality industry is crying wolf all the time. The rest of the stay was fabulously brilliant fresh cooked breakfast.
- Dominic (9/5): Comfortable and a very relaxing two nights - Location great
Food was fantastic
Hotel clean and tidy
Staff very professional
Rooms were spacious and good facilities in them All good nothing to complain
- Jenny (7/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): - The Room. The decor was tasteful, and the bed comfortable. It was quite peaceful, with not much road noise.
- edward (10/5): Lovely welcoming Inn with rooms with good food and drink - Good old fashion English Inn adapted to modern tastes It’s a little way off the motorway and busy traffic to get back on m6 at rush hour times
- Simon (8/5): - The room was lovely, food was
- Mark (10/5): -
- Susan (9/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Very pleasant, lovely rooms and food very good. - All good
- James (10/5): -
- Lindsay (8/5): Excellent food, great stay - The Bluebird is a good place to stay, welcoming pub area and dining. The rooms were a decent size with a good choice of tea, coffee etc, beds were comfortable. Food was fabulous in the evening and breakfast provided quality ingredients and choice. My only criticism of the bathroom in the room was the sealant around the shower needed replacing. The quality of the tea in the rooms was a good quality tea but at breakfast the tea tasted like a cheap tea bag, small criticism.
- Sarah (10/5): - Comfortable and friendly
- Julie (9/5): Lovely welcome tray in room ,bed comfy and room clean - Very clean and modern . Lovely spacious room Nothing
- PAUL (10/5): 5 star staff and service - Friendly manager and staff who always go that little bit further to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. …. That I had to leave!! 🤣
- Michelle (8/5): -
- ALAN (9/5): Excellent breakfast - Food excellent Food not available for arrivals after 2000 hrs
- Ian (9/5): - Friendly staff. Easy check-in. Excellent food. Mouldy sealant in walk-in shower. One of the spare pillows had no pillow case..
- George (4/5): Poor - Breakfast was from 7am to 9am. Nothing after that. I have stayed in many places,
and never had that. The manager was very grumpy when I checked in and he never
asked if we are ok, he did not talk to us at any time, and we did see him often. On checking out, only one staff person that served our breakfast was nice.
- Tony (9/5): Lovely Hotel - Lovely food, made to feel very welcome. Some road noise from the room, as a light sleeper would have preferred something a little quieter.
- Roper (9/5): - Clean, quiet, good food and well looked after. N/A
- Omer (7/5): -
- James (10/5): -
- Stewart (8/5): - Rooms are excellent...away from any potential noise (unlikely) from pub
Brilliant chip shop next door Not a dislike as such but it is a busy main road location so whilst great for access to m way, Blackburn and Preston , it's not a "walk from" hotel.
- James (10/5): -
- Robyn (9/5): -
- Lin H. (10/5): Excellent place to stop overnight. - Pleasant welcome. The pub was cosy and inviting and the room was a good size with everything we needed. Excellent walk in shower, which was good for accessibility. Heating easy to control.
Breakfast was included and there was a very good buffet with cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and fruit juice and cooked breakfast with quality produce used. Staff friendly and efficient without being rushed.
Good to see EV chargers on the carpark.
- Sharon (10/5): - Excellent, great breakfast The rooms are starting to look tired, could do with sprucing up, especially the bathroom to get ride of the black mould.
Lighting could be better, no enough low lighting to feel comfy
- Darren (10/5): Great location, friendly atmosphere and very clean. - Friendliness, Wifi, cleanliness and breakfast. nothing
- Stephen (9/5): Great hotel - Third visit so I know how good it is
- Annette (10/5): Another lovely stay. - Everything. We have stayed here several times.
- EMMA MURPHY (9/5): Lovely food lovely room excellent location - Fabulous food and great location nothing
- Tracy (4/5): Bar staff very friendly but found manager not very welcoming - The location On arrival entering the room first thing I saw was black in shower also the heating wasn’t working
- Carolyn (9/5): Reasonably priced, comfortable stay. - Great beds with lovely staff We were told by booking.com that the family rooms had superking beds. They do not. The double rooms have superking. I booked a family room for £79 when I could have booked a double for £69. You need to change the details on your information.
- David (10/5): Great rooms, great food, superb staff. - Everything was great, the staff make the difference.
- Peter (6/5): Good staff, tired hotel. - The staff we very friendly and helpful. It was looking a bit tired. Mold on window and net curtain. Breakfast was not value for money.
- John (8/5): Good stop-over. - Close to M6 so easy to break long journey for food or overnight. Attentive, pleasant staff. Efficiently run restaurant. Rooms well away from road and pub/restaurant so quiet. Room was basic and looking a bit tired although perfectly adequate. No heating in bathroom
- Esther (8/5): - Friendly staff, great breakfast.
- Miriam (10/5): -
- Bernard (10/5): Fantastic, delicious, comfortable, clean and friendly. - Breakfast and dinner were delicious. The room clean, comfortable, with everything necessary for a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We couldn't fault anything - our stay was wonderful! Nothing
- Olivia (9/5): - Excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful and welcoming. Room clean and very comfortable. Kids loved the sofa bed. Noisy guests but staff responded quickly
- Autumn (3/5): - Unfortunately there was no hot water. I was staying for my brothers wedding nearby and I am pregnant. The lack of hot water meant I had to have an uncomfortable cold shower, so it was overall not a great experience.
- Riana (9/5): -
- Robin (10/5): - Clean, efficient service, helpful, professional, easy parking, good size rooms. nothing
- James (9/5): -
- Tina (10/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): - Breakfast was the full buffet only and a more flexible option would have been helpful.
- daniel (9/5): - Lovely room, excellent bar and restaurant and friendly and very helpful staff
- Christine (10/5): Weekend break - Very convenient and close to main motorway.
Lovely bar and lounge area.
We met with friends and had a lovely weekend. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Food was very good and very large portions. Rooms were very comfortable Hot tap in bathroom sink didn't get warm, but shower water temperature was fine.
- Ruth (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely quiet room and really comfortable bed. Staff in pub and at breakfast were really friendly and welcoming. Only minor thing was I couldn’t get hot water in my shower but my husband said his shower was hot straight after so perhaps I was impatient in waiting for it to run warm.
- Andy (4/5): Good hotel but the customer service is very poor. Especialy if your from north of the boarder. - Good food good rooms Staff refused to take Bank of Scotland notes. Embarrassing to say the least. Made to feel realy small in the bar surrounded by other customers.
- Robin (10/5): -
- James (7/5): - Staff and food are great. My room was not in great condition (bathroom floor felt squishy) and was a bit dusty. Overall room design was good spacious with sofa and good usb plugs.
- Alan (9/5): Very welcome after a nightmare journey up the M6 and M6. ! - Value for money was very good. Staff were friendly and efficiently helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Our only quib le was the paucity of jot water on the morning - a cold water shave is never great!@
- Robin (9/5): - Good location as we travelled back to south, Breakfast excellent, good choice. nothing
- Catherine (5/5): A good hotel to use for work, but not good for people to book a weekend for a break. - The room was big and clean, The tea and coffee facilities good , The food was high quality and the staff are really nice. The Hotel is on a very busy Road across BAE Systems, and you are in the middle of nowhere, no shops, no pubs etc
the pictures make out that it is in a quaint little village, the pub side was painfully quiet due to this reason, No smart TV in rooms.
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): - Excellent Nothing
- Derek (7/5): Very good - Nice, clean. Friendly helpful staff. Room was good and well stocked. The radiator switched off in the night and I got cold. After a bit of fiddling I got it to go again.
Very bright lights in car park, great to see when walking but do come through black out blinds.
- Holtham (10/5): A pleasant evening, travelling for work its nice to find somewhere comfy, warm and welcoming, - passed on breakfast, my choice, not my meal of the day, but my evening meal was good, tasty and filling with a large glass of red wine!
- Tony Bayliss (8/5): - Good location near M6, pleasant staff at check in, good large bedroom. Excellent bar and friendly staff. My main course steak was dreadful like a tough piece of leather. Bar staff excellent in response, offered me alternative and discounted food bill.
- Eileen (8/5): Lovely Hotel, ticks all the boxes - Nice friendly, welcoming hotel, easy check in, friendly service, gave us a ground floor room on request, clean rooms, comfy bed, large TV, really nice filter coffee bags and decaff options and biscuits. The real ale in the bar was nice. Cant really think of anything.
- Sally (9/5): - Cosy rooms and bar area . Welcoming atmosphere . Great complementary teas / coffees / biscuits and toiletries. Lack of an extractor in bathroom.
Signs of condensation causing some mould around window frame ( room 21)
- David (8/5): -
- margaret (10/5): Lovey and comfortable. Excellent food and staff - Everything It was facing BASE huge factory. I imagined it in the village of salmelsbury
- Megan (9/5): Lovely hotel, restaurant, nice staff (very helpful) - Lovely room Drains smell in the bathroom
- Annette (10/5): Great Hotel - Great rooms and fabulous staff. Great breakfast offering is highly recommended. Nothing
- Rae Wriggers (6/5): -
- Steve Begley (9/5): -
- Simon (9/5): Very nice hotel and suited our needs - Nice clean hotel and friendly staff. Food - Breakfast was good with a good selection. Although our room was clean the window frame needed attention, one of the window catches was missing and the frame needed some repairs and a good paint.
- John (10/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent recommend anytime. - Great location, staff were friendly food good. Just be wary where the shower head is!!!! Got a blast of cold water when I turned it on! Certainly woke me up :-)
- Bart (8/5): Great hotel, would recommend. - Room was cosy, bed was great and bathroom clean. Was a bit overpriced in my opinion.
