Guest Reviews
- Thomas (4/5): Disappointing - Booking.com charged $15 more for a non-smoking room, but the motel says ALL the rooms are non-smoking! Then when I was shown 3 rooms they all reeked of cigarette smoke. So this was a disappointing experience all around. Paid extra for a room that stunked. Furthermore it had water bugs. Disappointed in Booking.com as well.
- Rowan (8/5): Good Cheap Motel - Friendly staff, clean very basic room. Just what you want from a cheap motel!
- Will (3/5): - The man that worked the counter was very rude.
- Mariel (6/5): Great price! - Great location and economical. Bathroom walls had a bit of mold
- Michael (7/5): Will be staying again soon - Was great! Everything was perfect.
- Deedra (2/5): Nasty - Coffee at front desk Nasty bathroom, mold on the shower walls, ironing board look like it had blood all over it.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Jessica (4/5): - There was no breakfast Staff didn't act friendly, I couldn't get a wash cloth he just kept giving me towels, I went to change trash bags but it ripped open on me so I asked for a new bag he gave me 1 and it ripped on me as well
- JD (1/5): -
- Donna (10/5): Would definitely stay again. Great price for a nice hotel room. - Very clean in a nice location. Well lit parking area.
The desk clerk was polite and accommodating when it came to us needing a ground floor room.
- Kenneth E. (10/5): My Stay at Lexington's Awesome Econolodge !!! - Mr. BOB Is A Great Manager, and Keeps this Facility in Great Shape...and I Enjoy It Here !!! Everything was Great, NOTHING to NOT LIKE !!!
- Jill (10/5): - Convenient, clean, staff very friendly
- xavier (10/5): - Nice
- Miguel (1/5): - Nothing Everything the room smell not good the bathroom they have mud every where I can sleep I stay 3 horas and I live I have to call coustumer service my wife she can sleep on there I never coming back to this place
- Lisl (5/5): A bit disappointed. - Location was good There were holes in the towels. Blood stains on the sheets and bugs in the room.
- Bailey (8/5): -
- Michael (3/5): There must be better options - It was quiet. Mattress was cheap and the room received no service. I stayed for two nights. No one came to clean, make the beds, etc. Also, it is labeled as being off I-81 but it is sort of a long drive.
- Terrance (8/5): -
- Venkat (8/5): - Great parking in beautiful setting
- Patrick (7/5): - Quiet location convenient to downtown Lexington. The room had wood laminate flooring and updated tile in the bathroom. The TV and AC worked well. The bed was comfortable with crisp ironed sheets. Front desk staff and guest relations were strained. A toilet plunger was left in the walk way for the convenience of another guest. The grout around the bathtub was moldy.
- Patrick (6/5): - hotel manager was rude and hardly accommodating, my key card was deactivated in my pocket and when I got a new one the manager on duty asked me to stop coming in with more problems so he could catch up on sleep
- Daniel (4/5): - Water bugs in the curtains upon arrival.
- Chelsey (8/5): -
- Doug (6/5): Good except for bugs. - The hotel was okay for the price. There was only coffee, but it was good ,and no breakfast of any kind. The one big thing was i found two dead bed bugs the first day and another on the second day .. after .....they changed the linens. Not good.
Sadly your pricing was $40 higher than your competitors but i left it because i had already finished the booking.
- Sallie (2/5): - I usually never leave negative reviews because I know things happen. Do NOT stay here. BEDBUGS in my bed. BEDBUGS all in my luggage and on my clothes! When I informed the front desk and Expedia, I was told I could not get a refund for two of the nights, because I stayed the night the first night and didn't check out before 11 the next day. I found the bugs at 12pm. Never again. I am also having to miss a full day of work so that I can go home and decontaminate all of my things!
- Chelsey (3/5): -
- Joan (6/5): - I called to ask for a 3 hr early check in to just leave our luggage before going to friends home because we would be returning late, after dark to the hotel. At 1st, manager said extra $10.
I said nevermind.
I then called back and said we would come at 12:30-12:45 to get checked in. He said no extra $20 fee and i dai thanks we'd arrive 12:30.
We went to the hotel and a note said"on Break" so we couldnt check in for about 45 minutes. We waited on the lobby intil he returned.
It was now 1:15.
I asjed fir a room on the upper level, he said no because if housekeeping.
I said ok, then in the back away from the main road traffic.
Well, we got settled and heard prople above us fir an hour or so before going to sleep. Again in the morning. Coffee was ok at that lobby.
The tv remite stopped working as we were watching football
Ice machine worked good.
Tub did not drain well while taking showers.
We only came to sleep at night because we were at friends all day and evening.
Parking good. House keeper friendly.
- Peggy (8/5): - I was disappointed to find that although the description said there was a tub/shower combo only to find only a shower available. It also offered in room coffee which was not available. The air conditioner froze up and made a puddle of water on the floor. I am sure that will be repaired before I post this review.
- Arden (10/5): - Clean, well maintained. Registration attentive and courteous. Marble countertop in bathroom. Great value close to I-81 in safe neighborhood. 10/10 would stay again.
- Joseph (10/5): -
- John (4/5): - The water pressure was so low I would have better off using a cup to spill the water on top of my head.
- Andrew (10/5): Good for the money. - No problems here. Good for the money, polite staff and easy access.
- Chelsey (10/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): - Yes it may not look like an exciting spot step inside and its very clean with a very comfortable bed ..bed
- Isabel (1/5): I would of left and not stayed but had all my information - The front desk clerk was very rude and mean.
- Bruce (6/5): - We stayed at this Econolodge for two nights, September 6-7, 2025. The room was clean and equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave. The room space was adequate. I was disappointed that there weren’t any rooms designated as non-pet/animal. There is a coffee maker in the office, but tea and bottled water were not provided. Tea, hot water, and bottled water is standard in the places I’ve stayed.
- MoBuckz (9/5): -
- Joann (7/5): It was ok - Bed The floors and bathtub were not clean.
- Howard (9/5): -
- Lauren (6/5): Not bad in a pinch. - Location was good and was a decent stay for the budget. Room had an odd odor. Beds were hard as a rock and flat couple pillows.
- Tabatha (4/5): - There was dead bugs in the bed under the blanket. Accidentally reserved a smoking room they would not change it and we could not breathe it smelled so bad of smoke our clothes and belongings continued to smell after we left.
- Kathleen (4/5): Gave me the ick. - The price is right and it’s convenient to downtown Lexington. I stayed during the week and it was quiet. It doesn’t smell good. It isn’t clean. The exhaust fan that comes on with the bathroom light makes the whole room reek of sewage. Someone had put FILTHY stickers on mirror and tv that has not been removed. My dog could detect scents of previous pets which indicates that the room is not clean. 103 is the room with the horrible smell coming from the fan.
- phil (10/5): - Tub/shower tile needs good cleaning
- Benjamin (2/5): - The hotel smelled and was dirty.
- Kenneth (6/5): - .
- Weis (10/5): -
- Treasa (8/5): - location, price, size of room some friendly employees floor could of been cleaner when you got into shower made black water from bottom of feet
- Nicole (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hollenbach (7/5): Will not be returning. Would not recommend. - Staff not pleasant. Not impressed. Room next door had barking dog.
Musty smell. Friendly staff. Better lighting inside room.
- Raul (10/5): - Great
- Denyell (4/5): Rooms were ok... - The lobby had an overwhelming smell of moth balls. I had to wait 10 min to check in because the receptionist made a food run. The rooms were decent but certainly nothing spectacular. The remote was broken.
- Carla (8/5): - This location and facility suited our needs for a quick trip to the Lexington area. Not posh but very serviceable and clean.
- David (2/5): Could not stay here. Disgusting. - The first room offered. The air conditioner was very loud. Definitely something wrong with it.
The second room offered. Lots of dead and live flies in the room around the window.
Was offered a third room but after seeing the first two along with all the trash in the back parking lot, I decided to leave. Didn’t stay there even though I wouldn’t get a refund.
- Robert (10/5): Great place - The manager was so nice. Room was clean, smoke free, comfortable and affordable
- mark (8/5): - A convenient location for fishing the area's lakes and rivers.
- mark (8/5): - A convenient location for fishing the area's lakes and rivers.
- Michelle (2/5): - Hotel manager was rude and place was dirty and had numerous bugs including bed bugs
- William (8/5): Enjoyable - Roomy and comfortable Too far from tiwn
- Randolph (5/5): Ok - Bugs, no elevator.
- Dakota (8/5): - Staff was friendly.
- Michael (8/5): - Great value for an overnight stay. Comfortable and clean.
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional - I like BOB And His Staff... I Totally Dislike BOOKING.COM...THEY RARELY GET ANYTHIMG RIGHT...THIS WAS TO BE A SINGLE ROOM FOR 1 PERSON, NOT 2...AND BU THE TIME I REALIZED THEIR SCREWUP (2nd Time now)...there Were NO Other Rooms Available !!!
Like I said above, this is the 2nd Time they Did This to Me.
- Music (10/5): - Good
- Alijah (2/5): - Front desk guy didn’t even know what was going on couldn’t get in my room at like 2 in the morning because my card wasn’t working.
- haley (8/5): - Thankfully, not a bad experience for us like other reviewers mentioned in regards to cleanliness. I slept well and got some coffee downstairs in the morning. Overall, a decent stay for tired travelers. We arrived close to midnight but I called the phone number on the front desk office and a man showed up within minutes to check us in. No breakfast, but there is coffee.
- Grange (6/5): In general it was a good room but needed floor cleaning - Location was good Floor was very dirty
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very cheap accommodations, and the linen cart was left outside with dirt and bugs all over it.
- George (4/5): Stay for convenience, not cleanliness. - close to town never cleaned the room. toilet backed up on its own.
- ginger (2/5): - Horrible facility and amenities. Will never stay at Econ lodge again or recommend to anyone.
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- David (4/5): - The location is convenient to I 81 and RT. 11 and not nearly as busy as the North side of Lexington.
Upon check-in the manager was not especially friendly. Maybe he was having a bad day. My bill was suppose to be $134.00 for two nights. He asked if $138.00 was okay and without checking my reservation I said yes. My fault for being trusting and assuming honesty on his part.
The room was basic but comfortable. The only complaint here is that the floor was filthy. It hasn't been mopped in ages. Walked from the bathroom after showering to a chair and had to wipe my feet again before putting on my socks.
Went for coffee the next morning. It was hot and fresh. The creamer is left out 24/7 and has been there long enough to separate and solidify. That was the Hazelnut; I didn't check the other two.
How this place has a 7.2 rating is beyond me. If you are just looking for a cheap place to sleep and nothing else, this will do. Otherwise, pay the extra and stay on the North end near I64/I81.
I would not stay here with small children that like to play on the floor!
Also, the whole one left at a certain price is a scam. The place was nearly empty. Four vehicles each night including mine. The second floor wasn't even in use.
I stay in many hotels around Virginia each year chasing birds. Like most I try to find a deal when I travel. What I have realized is that sometimes you get what you pay for, but this was sadly the worst of the worst.
Conclusion: Don't stay here.
- Rebecca (10/5): - It is a perfect hotel for the price. One that allows animals and smoking, even though my smoking room didn’t smell like smoke when I got there. It’s clean and just right. Good air, good beds, good extras that I needed. The owner is very nice. I messed up and booked two rooms, at different times. The owner fixed it no problem. Even helped me check in at midnight when I arrived, and in a very good mood too. The hotel area is very clean and quiet and it felt safe. The hotel is very well lit up. A woman traveling alone, arriving after dark, I felt completely safe. There’s so many things that could have gone wrong but it’s like they cover every concern or need. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again if I’m anywhere near it again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value, less than good mattress and pillows - Room was clean and felt safe with plenty of hot water in the shower. Tub a bit dingy, but most likely from age and not because it wasn’t being cleaned. Check-in and check-out was smooth. This is definitely a place where you get what you pay for, so the bed felt like sleeping on a cardboard box and the pillows were few in number and lumpy. The laminate floor was shockingly cold in the morning. All of that said, I was in town for a volunteer event and so tired both nights that I just appreciated having a quiet, safe, cheap spot to sleep.
- Tofi (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (8/5): - Basic but got the job done for a solo overnight stay on the road.
- Dirk (8/5): Clean and easy access - Cheap and clean Close to town
- Chris (6/5): - I didn't need much, didn't pay much, and didn't get much. This was just a cheap roadside stop. The room was noticeably dirty. Big obvious stain on the bed cover, sticky drink rings on the night table, hair ball on the floor.... yikes! No brek. And that's probably safer anyway. Your wife won't like this place. Look elsewhere.
- Marcelo (10/5): - It was great
- Michael F. (10/5): - The room floors were dirty. My feet were plank after walking across them.
- Kevin (3/5): Poor -
- Jason (8/5): - It’s a motel, don’t expect all the frills. Good price, but will say beds a bit too firm though.
- Owen (7/5): Good -
- Don (7/5): Good -
- Gregory (7/5): OK BUT NOT GREAT - I ACCIDENTALLY BOOKED A SMOKING ROOM, THE MANAGER WANTED MD TO PAY $15 MORE FOR NON SMOKING, WHEN ITS SMOKERS THAT MAKE THERE INSURANCE HIGHER AND DAMMAGE THERE ROOMS, OUR BEDSPREAD HAD NANY BURN HOLES IN IT AND IT TOOK ALMOST A FULL BOTTLE OF AIR FRESHNER TO MAKE THE ROOM LIVABLE, THEY HAVE IT BACKWARDS SMOKERS SHOULD PAY WAY MORE TO STAY THERE NOT NON SMOKERS There was a separate restaurant in the parking lot
- George (7/5): Good - No breakfast.
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): - Clean room. Easy check in.
- Gillespie (1/5): Not Hospitable - location was convenient to areas we visited Staff was rude. Refrigerator was turned off, staff had to access back to turn on. Mold stains in shower tiles. 2 tissues in box. Mattress Uncomfortable. Pillows worn out. Blanket old and worn. Coffee in office weak.
- Vernon (10/5): - Everything was good. Room was nice and clean. Manger was nice.
- Kristin (10/5): Great little hotel near popular Lexington sites. - Great location. Very clean. The owner is so friendly and nice.
- Russell (5/5): Passable - Fairly inexpensive. Luke warm showers in the morning.
- David (1/5): Was the worst experience ever - and I have traveled the world. - I liked getting the heck outta there.
It was the worst experience. The staff was rude. They charged me three times for my stay. Tried to get my money back for the overcharge and it still hasn’t happened.
The room had bugs in it due to the door not fitting properly in the door jam - thus creating a crack for bugs to enter.
There was blood splattered on the bathroom wall as you walk in.
I think that his enough for all to know that I am extremely unhappy with Econo Lodge and will never stay at another in - even if so get my money back.
I would rather climb a tree and stay in it overnight than book another Econo Lodge room. .
- Ken (8/5): My Stay at Econo Lodge Lexington, Va. Was Nice !!! - There were a few issues with the Room, but BOB Is A GOOD GUY...and TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING.
I'D DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN... Nothing, I Liked Everything About This Place, an Elevator would be Nice, or at Least An Elevator for Luggage to the 2nd Floor, but other than that, Don't Change a Thing !!!
- Edward (6/5): - The walls are thin & guest will hear their neighbor’s noise. Be sure you’re not assigned a room beside a barking dog or crying baby if such annoys you,
- Manuel (1/5): I didn't stay room wasn't clean - I didn't not stay room was not clean Everything
Cleaning
- Teresa (5/5): Good if you're in a pinch - The location is great. Easy to get downtown and to the colleges in under 5 minutes, as well as very close to the highway. The whole motel is tired. While flooring has been updated in the rooms and the bathrooms were fine, the rest of the place is either outdated or just tired with age. There is no breakfast option, and the front-desk employee was on break when I tried to check in and again when I tried to check out, made known to me through a hand-written note left at the front desk.
- Soma (6/5): - dusty room, smelly
- Steven (10/5): - Parking was convenient, bed kinda noisy because of protection stuff. Staff was outstanding and very nice and pleasant.
- Joy (5/5): Passable - Plenty of rooms and having the smoking option The price
