- Milner (1/5): Just wrong - Hard pass ewwww Doors lock everywhere throughout the building. I was locked out of the building the lobby and couldnt at one point get out of the hotel. We returned the keys and refused to stay the night now out the money to stay elsewhere. Dirty gross scary feeling. Rooms attach but no locks. Just bad
- Sandra (9/5): Great location, comfy room, and excellent staff - The room was very clean and comfortable. And when we had trouble getting the cable to work, the lovely woman on the desk that evening came to our room immediately and sorted the TV out for us. The location was also perfect for our weekend needs. When we got home, I realized that I'd left a special "hair-protector" pillowcase behind in the room. I called to ask about it, and was told - by the same lovely woman! - that it had just been laundered and would be held at the desk for me the next time in was in the area. Superb service! The only thing I can think of was to provide a bath mat/towel. But we used an extra hand towel for that purpose, and it worked just fine. Otherwise, the property supplied everything we needed.

- Raymond (4/5): - If you want to stay somewhere that is very, very, very basic while visiting Stratford, then this will meet your requirements. There is no sense of comfort and fortunately we were only there for one night. The front desk experience was poor, we were not even informed of a wifi code so we expected it to be in the room, but it wasn't. Breakfast is from 7am to 9am closing far too early if you are looking for a restful break. No shower gel or body wash in the bathroom, just super thin soap and a couple of shampoo & conditioner sachets. Both the bed and pillows were uncomfortable and part way through the night my head was hurting. This was our first and last visit to the Shakespeare Inn.

I did not buy cancellation insurance, so I learned my lesson and will never book a hotel this way again. I am allergic to cats, dust and mold. There were all three allergens in this hotel. The bedding hasn't been updated since the 1960's. Although the carpet had been removed and replaced with laminate, there is still carpet as baseboards that has been there since the 1950's. It was worse than the Bates motel. Bad energy. Old food was left in the fridge in our room. Awful, horrible, terrible worst ever hitel experience.

Bathroom light flickered and fan was loud. Microwave didn’t really work and bedding was older and mattresses as well. Tv worked fine and we had a restful sleep, with a coffee /tea and cookies included and available down the hall which was nice was nice

Parking was convenient. The drive to Stratford was quite short and very straightforward. During the Festival, Stratford is a very expensive place to stay, therefore it seemed expensive for an older property. However, other prices I saw were also high, so the price was likely in line with the market.

There is very little around the property, however it is only 10 minutes from the theater and another 5 to downtown Stratford. If you want fancy and like to be pampered this is not the place for you. A great basic hotel that I would stay in again!

- Guest (6/5): Adequate accommodations for an overnight stay - We were upgraded from a regular queen room to a suite that could sleep 5-6. and that wsa a nice surprise. The water pressure was fantastic in the shower and the air conditioning (during a heat wave) was wonderful. The room could have been cleaner and the furnishings need updating, but the room was clean enough for our needs. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and very pleasant to deal with. The rooms were dated in terms of furnishings and bedding. There were many air fresheners in the hallways which, while I didn't mind the scent, were a little too much, even for me.

The owner or manager (I'm not sure which) was very polite, but the moment you walk into the lobby it has a very strong smell. Nothing has been updated in a long time, so things are getting quite shabby. Upon arriving at our room, the door was open and the tv was on. We weren't sure if someone else had the room, but were told it was ours. Some things were clean, but others were obviously not (carpet not vacuumed, hairs on bathroom floor, mould in the grout around the bathtub, etc). I went to the front desk to ask something around 11:00pm but it was all locked up for the night and no one was there. The photos show a "restaurant", but there is no restaurant at this hotel. We stayed here after going to a play in Stratford. Another time I would just drive further to find a better place to stay, probably for the same price.

- Guest (1/5): Worse stay of 40 minutes ever!! - Don’t not Like the property. It smelt Like smoke my husband was having issues. If not smoke then someone had been calling. Told the desk and they only denied it. The room was not clean and very out dated to go up the stairs to 2nd floor we have to go through like a maze and utility closet. That is where they kept the coffee if we wanted any! I will never recommend this place There was nothing to like after we had to go through a small walkway back room to get the stairs. The stairs were steep. The room smelled and not Totally cleaned. Staff was rude and kept refusing that the room had an odour, although my husband Was having a reaction and problem breathing . When arrived we noticed and opened a window hoping that would help while we went to our play. But when we came Back nothing hand changed.approached the owner and she and her husband became defensive and said no one smokes in room. It did!!! We Left without a refund and drive home. A very expensive day that was ruined by this place. We Will have to review if we Will use your site due to this. We had never had a problem Before but this has left a bad taste to us and My husbands breathing!!!

- Lynne (5/5): satisfactory - It was quiet. There was a hole in the linen sheet on the bedding and a slight musty smell when we arrived, but after the air conditioning ran for a while it improved. It was a very hot day so that may have been a factor in the air quality.
- Nancy (8/5): We liked the Shakespeare Inn but … - We booked a Queen sized bed, but we were given a room with a double bed. We did not complain. We did not understand how to work the TV, but the lady came at my request and got it to the channel that we wanted. The day was very hot and the room needed A/C which it had but I was surprised that I had to set it up, as opposed to it being already set up for us. There was a frig which we did not use. There was no microwave but we did not want it anyway. There were only 2 pillows on the bed. I should have asked for more pillows as we like to have one between our legs when we sleep. It was late by the time I noticed so did not want to disturb the family running the Inn. The password for the internet was there and worked. They have a room with tea/coffee and Dad’s cookies that everyone can access. Would I stay there again? Yes, but I would not accept the double bed, and would ask for more pillows.
- Allison (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. It was an easy 10 min drive to the theatre we went to in Stratford. The room was very clean, well maintained, and the AC worked perfectly. We also appreciated the coffee in the morning. What really stood out was the hospitality... The management went above and beyond by surprising us with balloons and a thoughtful setup in the room for my mom’s 70th birthday. It really made our trip special.

- Leo (9/5): We had a very comfortable stay - Ms. Vani was very kind to let us check in early and that set us up for an enjoyable evening at Stratford where we watched a play. There was ample parking and we felt very safe . We were all seniors and having our rooms on the ground floor worked out great for us

- Brenda (8/5): - Hotel is old, had a weird “old” smell in the hallways but the room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- John (7/5): Good value. - About 15 minute drive from Stratford theatre. Easy access. Area rugs need to be cleaned.
