- Sue (10/5): All round great stay - Excellent Excellent
- Robin (4/5): A very disappointing stay in Bristol. - The location was excellent, close to a bus route , a pleasant street. We were very disappointed in this stay. The building is old but needs some serious updating. The small room on the top floor smelt musty, the bathroom leaked water on the floor, no toilet brush, shower temperature was variable, our room was not what was shown in the photograph on booking confirmation which had 2 windows, city view. Our room faced an alleyway wall. The staff interactions were mixed. We had a good check-in but the rest was substandard. Whilst we were late (0900) to breakfast one morning we were told it was fine but staff then proceeded to sit and chat to friend whilst there was no coffee made, no bread for toast. We did have to pay for this . We appreciate that students enjoy the bar scene here but it felt like we were being penalized for being too old for the place.

- Dante (10/5): - Very Nice Hotel, old style, great atmosphere 10 minutes walk from city center, great Pub downstairs with pool and other games, nice garden outside were you can have a beautiful time in a sunny day, very gentle staff, recommend if you coming in Bristol

- Paul (9/5): Loved the area - Location Parking
- Darren (6/5): - Staff were lovely, really helpful. Location is great, breakfast was nice and the bar was decent The room was so tired. Needed painting, damp on the walls, mould in the bathroom, actual holes in the carpet. Bed was so uncomfortable
- Andreas (10/5): -
- Richard (9/5): - Good location for my needs On street parking 4 streets away
No lift
- Katie (7/5): Overall good stay - Staff friendly, room clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good 👍 Could do with a bit ot tlc, some wall sockets not fully secure in wall and some parts of wall could do with a lick of paint.

- thomas (2/5): Don`t want to leave a negative review but others have informed you of similar issues. - only had the cornflakes, location no issues, room needs a total transformation, money spent on it big time very noisy outside. tv on the wall only just, very small, could live with it but on an angle , needs attention.
- 351indianas (10/5): Lovely pub! Great pint! - Siddha, bibi and Lucy was absolutely lovey, warm and kind!! Lovely beer garden!
- Frequent Traveller 44 (7/5): Good location and friendly - Friendly welcome, a decent bar and restaurant downstairs, and a good location. Clean linen and a big room. Rooms were very tattered and needed updating. Very cold because the windows were all rotting. Broken fixtures. Surprised at the state of them considering the price, it really lets them down
- Alison (5/5): - Location Mattress was so hard on the bed, overall venue not overly clean
- Amaya (9/5): -
- Céline (5/5): -
- Ju (6/5): Overpriced, dated rooms, with woodchip paper everywhere and lack of Customer Service. - The breakfast was nice and the location was great. We arrived for breakfast and the woman there didn't greet us and didn't speak to us. Eventually we asked what we needed to do to order our breakfasts. She took the order but she didn't bother speaking to us about anything else.
What a shame and the girls that checked us in were really lovely.
- Richard (10/5): - Frie day staff andbeergarden
Polecam ten obiekt w Bristolu.

- Badger (10/5): Friendly, very clean, comfortable - Exceptional and friendly staff who went out of their way to help. Managed to change a screen in the bar to the rugby for me. Service on a very busy night was efficient. Lovely beer garden.

Stilvolles Haus. Saubere Zimmer. Gute Lage. Mit Charme einer Jugendherberge. -
- Caleb (7/5): - Included breakfast was fantastic! Really recommend! Room was small but comfortable enough. Have to request the iron from reception Creaky old floors, worn down bathroom, street parking is VERY limited. No phones so have to physically go down to reception.
- Christopher (8/5): Nice friendly hotel with friendly staff. - Supper and breakfast very good. Staff very friendly. Rooms comfortable. Being old, bedrooms on second floor was a disappointment.
- Badger (10/5): Like returning home. - Friendly welqcome, helpful staff, very comfortable.always a good supply of not water. In need of redecoration/returb in rooms, But always exceptional clean and comfortable.
- Bulle (9/5): it fulfilled the task for a one night sleep. - room, location I was not expecting that part of it was a pub.

- Ali Power (10/5): Great for short stau - Great breakfast Bit dated
- flynd2024 (10/5): Very good visit - The staff were beyond lovely and in particular Sam was a gem! Highly recommend and will be back!
- Valerie (6/5): - Staff needs to be addressed on how they dress and the cleanliness of their dress , if some of the staff came in to work the way some of those staff came to my hotel I would have sent them home, first impression is important to customers those people keep your money coming in
- Sharon (8/5): - It's in a prime location in Clifton and the family room was very affordable. This shower was small and hard to get the temperature right.
- Stephen (8/5): Good value for where it is in Bristol, Room basic but clean, just a one night stay - Good location, basic room but clean and did the job
Pub itself was a nice place to sit for a pint pretty busy as the sun was out Breakfast was ok had greek yogurt but the only fruit available was apple, no bananas or berries
- Aree (9/5): -
- Jeremy (10/5): A proper hotel / pub - Great hotel in a fantastic location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was superb.
- Callaghan (8/5): Overall very good value for money, 1 km walking distance to centre of Bristol. - Staff very friendly, welcoming & helpful, location great, superb outdoor beer garden Stunning building but could do with an upgrade
- Jay (9/5): Great find,if you're into hands off approach - Situation . public transport links good, close by. Ideally laid back atmosphere, comfortably warm worn interiors, generous sized rooms with lots of light and air.
huge beer garden with app service offering, though practicality deems self service preferable.
Loved that I could try the cask ipa, shame that the bar staff new nothing about the product. Staff were a little too laid back to give the impression of catering... Not inhospitable just not hospitality minded. During one of my many visits to and from the bar-front desk area (where teenagers lurk, seemingly actively avoiding any customers' eye contact)that were frequently necessary to complete breakfast or dinner 'service'. They were truly shocked when I left a10%tip.. leading me to believe there's an unwritten agreement has developed between regulars and staff, dont ask for waiter service and I won't expect a tip.
It's a shame as the place has amazing potential but wont ever fulfill the clearly well thought out framework of hostelry. They are catering to the uni crowd, en masse and have forgotten about the other customers over 25. To the point of the service being delivered by offhand inexperienced serving staff, the sole bar staff over 20 complained of her ailments and told of how badly she does the job due to her physical limitations. The 4 young things dressed for work, but sitting around the bar(busy midlunchtime)looked on by looking past all the frustrated customers, none made a move to help either the vociferous miss odd one out( by experience alone)or either of the punters to my right or left.
Were these the table app's staff, raring to go?
Turns out no, I've only ordered 2 pints, but every time I come to this bar, &I've got service, each member of staff seems truculent at first but once I've broken the silence, they each launched into easy chat, well, monologue that seemed better suited to a breaktime than the brief service of 2 drinks .
So irritating, they're pleasant enough but seem so wrapped up in each other or the world at the end of snapchat tik tok look back you are meant to be working, kiddo. The prices for the food deem some form of attention from the waiting staff appropriate.
- wizzl2026 (10/5): Amelie is amazing ! - WOW — what an absolutely AMAZING stay at Channings Hotel! From the second we walked in, we were greeted with such a warm, happy, and welcoming vibe that instantly put us in a great mood. Everything about the place just felt special — cozy, beautiful, and full of charm!
And we have to talk about Amélie — she is an absolute STAR! 🌟 Her energy, kindness, and genuine care made our stay completely unforgettable. She went above and beyond in every way and made us feel so looked after — honestly, she made the whole experience shine even brighter!
Also… if you’re a dog lover, this place is PURE HEAVEN 🐶💛 They don’t just accept dogs — they truly adore them! Our pup was treated like royalty, and it made us so happy to see how much love and attention they give to their four-legged guests. It made the whole stay feel even more joyful and relaxed.
We left with huge smiles on our faces and already can’t wait to come back. If you’re thinking about booking — DO IT!! You’re going to love it just as much as we did!
- Badger (10/5): - Staff always friendly and welcoming
Although decor a bit dated all exceptionally clean. Great vibrant location with good local transport options. Food, although reasonable is dated pub chain freezer to microwave fare. But great and varied options close by.

- Rose (8/5): Short relaxing break - Close to the university campus and my daughter. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I forgot my phone charger but they provided one I could loan. Rooms are super clean but quite basic. Bed was comfortable and the room had good ventilation
- Moira Eileen (10/5): Lovely stay. I would come back and I recommend it! - Everything was great: the location (quiet and safe but very near the Clifton Bridge), the room, the bathroom (and bath!), the friendly and helpful staff, the breakfast. It's not that "I didn't like" but it's more to point out that it's an old heating system which worked maybe TOO well because it was very warm when we entered the room and it took longer than expected for it to cool down after we switched it off.
But it's always better to be too warm than too cold and it DID cool down eventually and the windows opened too.
Add to that the fact that the weather in that part of the UK HAD been recently very cold so it's understandable that the room was being heated.
The young lad who came up to look at it was very prompt, very professional, empathetic and friendly so kudos to him and the hotel.
All the staff were great and thanks to the guy at breakfast for his quick reactions too.
- Marilyn (8/5): - Check in was fine, room was fine, location was very convenient. The breakfast was fine.
One of the staff members was very helpful about parking. Going to breakfast on the first morning, We sat waiting for someone to ask what cooked breakfast we wanted. There was someone there cleaning and tidying. After 10 mins or so we had to ask how to get the food. Only then did the woman tell us we needed to order at the bar. We went to the bar and the same woman took our order!
Finding somewhere to park was a bit of a hassle.
- Frances (10/5): -
- Mansell (7/5): Quiet and presentable room. - The room was clean and comfortable No lift meaning 4 flights of stairs to reach the room.

- Miranda (8/5): Good place to stay not too far from the city centre. - Beautiful building in a nice area not too far to walk to the city centre or Clifton Village and the suspension bridge.
Free on street parking available over the weekend a few streets away.
It was nice to have the bar downstairs.
The staff were friendly.
Plenty of hot water.
The sound from the bar didn’t disturb us on the second floor. Room was small with an air freshener smell but window could be opened.
It could do with being updated.
- Alun (5/5): - Most of the staff were lovely, food excellent, good location Tired room, double bed pushed against side wall. Not ideal. Wall sockets poorly positioned or not sufficient
- Boris (9/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): Convenient for one night stop-over - 30 mins free parking on road outside, pleasant check-in. Comfortable bed, bedside tables, large open wardrobe, opening window, bathtub and ample hot water. Convenient location for Clifton area. Not a very spacious room, just a small table and one chair. No shelf space in bathroom. Poor lighting in room and strip light in bathroom. Noise from bar below until closing time. Difficult to find parking and expensive (a Bristol problem).
- Nadia (5/5): Overpriced shabby room - Staff were lovely - attentive and warm. Room was clean. The room was tiny, very tatty, dingy and dated - to be fair, this was clear from the booking.com photo, and I knew it was going to be bad, but it was a last-minute booking and Channings was the only option available. The shabbiness wouldn't matter if it was a bargain - but for a dingy single room at Channings I paid MORE than I did at two other much nicer Bristol hotels that same week. Would not repeat.

- john (4/5): Disappointing - Scaffolding on the stairs men working in stairwell 1 morning shouting to each other at 7am no mention of ongoing works when booking Informed me of ongoing building work prior to booking

- Kelly (9/5): - Good value for money
- S2507MGjoc (10/5): Great experience - Lovely experience at the Channings. Food was delicious and staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially after catering for such a big group. Atmosphere was great. Phone calls before hand to make sure everything was correct and happy. Very reasonably priced and very helpful. Group of 20. Would recommend
- M2528KWstephaniee (10/5): Great hotel and pub - Stayed here with friends after a night out in Bristol. Dan and the whole team were great. So accommodating to everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and room was spacious.
We enjoyed drinks in the bar and breakfast in the morning was excellent. Really lovely staff. Perfect location.

- Mark (9/5): Great place for a family celebration - We hosted a 21st Birthday Party in the Basement venue at the Channings
We stayed with family in the hotel ....and were joined by the youngsters for a great Party on the Saturday night
The team helped to make a very special and memorable occasion No concerns ....all went very well
- Kieran (8/5): - Great clean, comfy rooms tucked away at the top of the pub. Nothing fancy, but the bed was comfy, the room was clean, and the shower was hot. Nothing to complain about Decor is a little dated but it's still outstanding value for money, and if they renovated it would just inflate the prices. It's perfect as it is
