• Alena (7/5): Considering it was the busiest week of the year, the owner was extremely accomodating. He was very busy but still manage - Very central to the town with lots of restaurants around. Seconds from the beach! The facilities and equipment rental are a little outdated. It would be nice to offer some salt/pepper/oil in the kitchen for cooking, but not necessary of course. Would be nice to offer some bikes for guests as well!

• ASAKO (7/5): ホテルとは思わず素泊まりの民宿だと思うと、とてもコスパが良いです - 青島神社にとても近い 青島駅も近い この価格でこの立地はとてもよいです。 トイレに行った後手を洗おうとしたのだが、 他のお客さんがお風呂に入っていたため洗面所が使えず手が洗えませんでした。 トイレで手が洗えるようになったらよいのに。 と思いました
• アキラ (8/5): 風光明媚がすぐそこに - 青島と駅が近く、夜はひっそりとしていながら飲食店もぽつぽつ。運良く一人部屋が当たり、コストパフォーマンスは最高でした。 最初に宿舎のどこを尋ねればいいのか戸惑った点と、電車の本数が少ないのも仕方なし。移動手段を考えた上で、先の計画をしっかりと練る必要はある。

• Takashi (10/5): ゆったり時間が流れます。 - すぐ近くにレンタサイクルがあります。ロケーションも素晴らしく宿の庭は広くよく手入れされています。室内の清掃も行き届いていて給湯設備、バス/シャワーも全く問題ないです。 ありません。古民家なのでオフシーズンの朝晩は冷えましたが充分な暖房設備があります。
• Rhys (9/5): Perfect location for surfers or day-trip visitors to Aoshima Island - Incredible location in Aoshima between the train station and Aoshima Island (5 minutes walk). The owner was very welcoming, chill and respectful. There is plenty of space for anyone surfing to leave their stuff, as well as a shower right near the entrance to take a wash after going to the beach. The beds are comfy and there is also a kitchen space for anyone wanting to cook. I met some very friendly, welcoming surfers at the hostel who contributed to the lovely vibes. The wifi is also pretty decent. The bedrooms are connected with very thin walls, but I was lucky to be staying with very respectful guests during my visit. There's also no real common area to relax, which has been replaced instead with a large garage-like area for facilities geared towards those heading to surf.

• Maximilian (2/5): - Nichts und ich war schon in einigen Hostels im unteren Preissegment. In den schlechtesten Bewertungen sehen sie ein Bild mit Staub am Toilettenpapierhalter. Dieser ist immer noch vorhanden. Unter meinem Bett war ein Kassenzettel vom letzten Jahr. Die Matratze war nicht vorhanden. Das Gebäude glich eher einem verlassenen Gebäude. Die guten Bewertungen stammen nur von Personen die im Hauptgebäude geschlafen haben. Ich sage es ehrlich machen sie ein Bogen um das Hostel.

• IKUO (7/5): ALL　WORLD - 波乗りをするならこの宿は良いと思います。近所に居酒屋、温泉、お弁当屋、コンビニ等があり出入りも自由なので気兼ねせず泊れます。 普段は1人で泊まることが多いですが、ドミトリータイプの宿なので知らない人と泊るのが苦手な方は難しい、静かな宿をお探しならお勧めしません。

• Giulia (9/5): Superb - it's a peaceful and friendly place, the room is comfortable even if not very big. the staff is exceptional! and the people I met here were all friendly.

• Roselle (6/5): Iffy yet all ours guesthouse - Near the station. Soft mattresses. No other guests that day, so it was quiet, and the entire house was ours. The owner could have told us more about the facility. It’s a guest house, so make sure to bring your own toiletries(soap, towel etc). Our room has no means to lock the door from the inside. Japan is safe, as we all know, but what “if” someone tries to break in while you’re sleeping?

• Serpellini (10/5): 100% recommend, I’ll come back :) - Nice and warm atmosphere hostel, I’ve booked for 4 days at first and end up staying for almost a month, the owner have different option for different type of travellers, dorms , single room , double rooms and also a traditional wooden house in a forest you can find everyone of them on the name Hooju. I’ve been in the dorms , the atmosphere is amazing , you can meet a lot of surfers and travellers from all around the world, the location is just 2 minutes walking from the surf spot and you can also rent wetsuits, board and bike here. Every day the kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom was cleaned by the stuff. The wifi is fast! And the owner is soo friendly and he will help you with your experience , there’s also always some of the stuff employees around the place so you can ask easily to them everything you need. Oh I forgot to say , this hostel is the cheapest I’ve ever found in Japan and for what it offers I really recommend it!
• Ryosuke (10/5): Super good to socialize my self and get to know about traveling as backpacker - This hostel is super international and you can meet a lot of young back packers and exchange the information about next destinations. Also many back packers came here to stay just several days but they extend their stay because this town is calm and good for surfing and chill. I made a couple of friends here from European countries and exchanged contact for someday we meet up in some other places like south East Asian countries or in their home countries. It was a good experience for me and can’t wait to come back here to meet them again and go surfing!!
• Jonathan (1/5): Avoid at all costs. Stay at one of the other two hostels if you value sleep and safety - Nothing, in multiple trips in Japan this is the worst hostel I have stayed in. One of the staff member has anger issues and the guests are drunken and you will not get sleep here. 🚨This is the worst hostel I have stayed at in Japan in 2 years. 🚨 There was drunk people in the hostel. At 1:45 AM there were 3 drunk Europeans. They were yelling in the sleeping area. After 20 minutes (mind you I have airpods in) I spoke to them and asked them to be quiet. They go to their beds... I messaged through booking app to let the employee #2 know just in case something happened. One of the drunken Europeans had set their alarm for 3:45 AM. He slept through it. 3 people woke up and tried to get him to wake up. I was able to wake him up by gently nudging him as he wasn't responding to his name after 5 minutes of full alarm. The alarm then goes off again at 4:10 AM, then 4:20 AM. I message in booking app again just to let them know. This was my first night. I did not want to stay a second. The bed was also very uncomfortable and the facilities have seen better days. I ask the employee #1 in the morning to please give me refund for the second night so I could find another place and get some real sleep. He didn't care. He was very dismissive and said I don't have a phone. I can't call the boss. There was a phone on the couch. After I pointed it out he called. No refund for upcoming night. That drunken guest had been there for three weeks and was staying another week. Employee #2 got the booking text messages. Rather than be apologetic he was angry I messaged him at night when he was sleeping. He had severe anger issues and screamed at me for texting him at night through the booking app. He said this happens all the time and I should not complain. If I wanted to just forfeit the 4000 jpy and go somewhere else without a refund. He was incredibly angry just screaming at me. omotenashi is dead here. Come if you don't want sleep and want to risk dealing with an employee with anger issues. I was worried he may hit me and I was worried I would have to defend myself. I went outside and onto street and have the video and may post on Google.
• Pramita (6/5): Decent stay. I felt like I paid more that what it's worth. Very good location though. - I came quite early way before check in time. I was planning to just drop off my luggage but the host kindly allow me to check in early. Great location, close to Aoshima shrine. Price is quite high for a private room as a solo traveler. The guesthouse doesn't have option for 1 person for their private room. I ended up booking for a double room and pay the price for 2 people because I wanted a private room for peace and quiet. Sound insulation isn't the best though. You do hear people going around the guesthouse and the sound from outside also leaks in. If you want a quiet private room, you're better off booking a hotel and pay slightly more. I did struggle to find an affordable stay in Aoshima though as there isn't really a lot of options.

• Stella (7/5): Nice stay close to surfing beach - It’s really close to the beach, so we always walked to go surfing (~10 min). It’s clean and the rooms are nice. It can be loud when people are talking in another room or on the street, so best to bring earplugs.

• Kalina (9/5): Relaxed surf vibes - Don't hesitate to book this hostel. It is 2 min walking from the perfect beach and the beautiful island of Aoshima. The house has a typical Japanese style. The host is a very relaxed Japanese peron who would always help with anything you need. Volunteers and guests are also very nice people. Everyone in this surf town is super chill. The door to the dorm is a bit loud and doesn't cancel the noise in case people are talking loud in the kitchen.

• Jeremie (4/5): Good place, but not in the dormitory - The beach is close, the guesthouse has (old) surfboards to rent at a very affordable price. Aoshima is a great place to catch waves and enjoy the ocean. The dormitory is adjacent to the kitchen, that is, people have to cross it to use it. Very unpractical. Also, no isolation so you can hear people talking just outside and in the common space. Only one bathroom and one toilet for 10+ people… The bathroom was not clean. The table close to my bed was greasy as well. The owner was not very friendly.

It's only a couple of minutes walk from Aoshima station. Admittedly I did stay at a time when the guesthouse was quite empty, but if you stay in the Japanese style room, it feels quite lonely. The lounge area is rather small.

• Madli (8/5): Very good - I really enjoyed my stay. Even though the beds were open and there were no curtains, it was still very comfortable. I was the only woman in the room but it felt safe. The location is close to the beach.

I reserved a family room , but when I checked in a lot of guys not Japanese people talking , we were scared and did not sleep there.. we can’t cancel our reservation since the property will not refund ..
