- Paul (4/5): - This area was a unique little enclave unto itself with a view of lake Dora. We were on the 2nd floor of a 4 story during hurricane Debbie. During the night water started coming in to the closet area of our room soaking our clothes. The ceiling was previously water stained and patched, so this wasn’t just because of Debbie. Because this leak has not been corrected is the reason for the poor review. Otherwise it was a nice stay.
- Juan (6/5): - The hotel is in a nice area, tons of things to do but the hotel needs and update some rooms are old, have old furniture and the breakfast is not a breakfast.
- Mark (2/5): - Our first room had a leaky mini split unit that drained all over the counter. They moved us rooms and the new room that had an under performing AC. Also sewer smell in the bathroom, shower did not regulate properly Freezing cold or scalding hot and ants crawling all over the bathroom counter. Lots of spider webs on lamp shades and in the corners of both rooms. Will not ever return. Staff was nice though
- grace C (10/5): Mount Dora or bust! - A great find just minutes from Mount Dora. They have three buildings and we stayed in the furthest building from the main building. It was different but we got used to it. We had a balcony and a nice view of the lake. There was breakfast every day. The grounds are very nice. The only ding would be the pool. It needed vacuuming and I asked about that at the front desk, but it wasn’t done during our stay. The hotel is convenient to several restaurants, a nice park, a boardwalk of sorts along the lake, and community that is picturesque. If we ever come back to this area, we would most definitely stay here again
- Gina (8/5): - The lake view from our room was beautiful! There were different choices of restaurants and bars available in walking distance. The rooms were very big and clean. Only problem was late night screaming and loud vehicles.
- Andrew (6/5): - Nice place, walking distance to food and shops. Great views, nice pool. Wish they would keep up on property maintenance. Building could use some pressure washing, patio furniture was not in great condition. Overall a nice place. We will go back at some point.
- John (8/5): - Very welcoming and pleasant staff. Hotel is the heart of downtown and spread across three different buildings, all overlooking Lake Dora. Downtown Tavares is small but very fun, and activity on the lake can be enjoyed from your balcony. If you're traveling to Tavares, by far your best option.
- Erin (10/5): - Great spot next to the water and boat ramp. Perfect for bringing your water toys. Rooms are spacious and the view is great. We love this place.
- James R (8/5): Very comfortable but a little inconvenient. - The room was comfortable and small refrigerator with coffee maker convenient. However, we were unaware that our room was in the building across the street from the main hotel. This meant that in pouring rain, we had to go outside to the main building for breakfast, which was good, BTY.
- Cosia (6/5): Meh… - One night stay was ok. This is an older hotel but in a great location. The room has noticeably worn furnishings. Outlets do not hold charging cords well and aren’t conveniently located. The bed was comfortable and there was a really nice view of the lake. Staff were very nice.

- nicole (10/5): - Stay here several times when visiting the area of Howey in the Hills. The rooms are spacious and clean and most rooms have great views of the lake. It's location is convenient in the middle of Tavares and short drive to Mount Dora .
- Darcy (6/5): - Overall our stay was ok. There were a few things that were an inconvenient while traveling with our dog (10 lb shih-tzu). For one we weren't able to take her behind the main building in the large grassy area to sit and enjoy being outside. Although the hotel and surrounding areas were pet friendly, there were also alot of restrictions...inconvenient. The hotel has many restrictions as well, like giving 24 hour notice to have someone clean the room, or having to go pick up extra towels from the main building. Don't get me started on their towels...let's just say if you need a good exfoliation, their towels will do the job! The music was loud, however we enjoyed it, and they go inside at 10pm. Breakfast wasn't really advertised well, basically it's more of a "vending" continental breakfast. Our room could have been a little cleaner, especially the tile floors, but we've been in worse.

One of the mattresses sank quite a bit on the one side. The breakfast was prepackaged items only, nothing healthy about that. Would stay again, however, enjoyed the weekend.

- Susan (6/5): - We have stayed there many times over several years with no pet fee. This time they charged a $100 pet fee for dog weighing less than 20 pounds. Check in was cumbersome and staff bordering on rude.
- Mike (6/5): Beautiful spot bring EAR PLUGS for sleeping - Weather was beautiful and room view was amazing. The mornings and afternoons were perfect and pool area was great. Big pool and had it all to ourselves. My main complaint is that the night life and VERY LOUD music from the bar below us (we were right above a bar) didnt even think about how loud it might be at night. Couldn't hardly sleep the second night (Friday) and performer didnt stop playing until late night. Then the next night (Saturday) the bar, Dog House, which part of the hotel played music SO LOUD OUTSIDE and didnt stop till 2AM. Loved the room and it was clean and the view was incredible worst part was the extremely loud party scene at night.

- Patricia (6/5): Middle of the road - We’ve been staying here for the last 4 years and always book early hoping to get a lakeside room with a balcony - it didn’t happen again. This time got a view of the government buildings. If you don’t boom directly through them then that’s probably the issue but prices are cheaper elsewhere. Glad it wasn’t building 1 because you never get parking due to the restaurants there. We question ourselves about staying each time we book. Maybe we’ll get lucky next year - or maybe we’ll look elsewhere - have t decided yet.
- Patricia (6/5): Noise and bugs. - There was a bar at the location. The music was extremely loud very late at night. It made it rough to get to sleep. We had early times to get up so that's the only thing I wasn't pleased with. And the little bugs everywhere.
- Kristi (8/5): - I thought it was nice to have restaurants, bars & a coffee shop on the ground floor of the building. We had a beautiful view of Lake Dora from our balcony and enjoyed live music from The Dog House that evening. I did have concern as to when the band would stop. They stopped at 10:00-10:30pm which I thought was very acceptable; especially on a Saturday night. Danni at the front desk was just wonderful! She was very polite, friendly and informative about the area.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden Florida Gem - The Key West Resort is a hidden Florida gem. Lovely atmosphere, watching the sea planes land off our balcony deck was so.much fun! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of restaraunts within a short walking distance. We will definitely be back!

- Deryl (4/5): - We went to our first hotel room the AC was out, so they moved us to another room. The AC was also out. Luckily, we the night was halfway cool we open the balcony door. Staff were very nice, we have stayed at this hotel multiple times. We’re always satisfied. Hopefully this is a one time situation.
- DEBRA (10/5): Wedding group from PA - everything was great for all the rooms we had. However it would have been nice if we were all in the same building. Three in one and two in the other. I booked this like 9 months ago it was for 5 groups to come down to attend my sons wedding. It did work out great tho. The only problem was our room was above the Dog House and the noise was unreal til after two in the morning. The front desk switched us first thing in the morning to the complete other end. They were very accommodating

- KELLY (8/5): - The room is located across the street from the lobby and you enter the elevator at the back of the building next to a bar. Not very safe for a woman traveling alone. It’s also not convenient to have breakfast when it’s across the street. The housekeeper tried entering the room without knocking - thank God the safety lock was on. The coffee pot was disgusting and there was something hard and crunchy on my sheets. Parking was also an issue. I had to park quite a ways away and haul my luggage across the street. Definitely not a good experience at all!

- Terry (8/5): Great location beautiful lake view. - Key West Resort is very nice property in a great location. The only drawback this property has is that the rooms are located in three separate buildings that make the check in process less than convenient. When we arrived we took our bags out of the car and went to the lobby to check in only to find out that our room was in another building and that required us to put ours bags back in the car and drive to the other building.

- Kathy (8/5): Very enjoyable stay! - We really enjoyed our stay. We were in building 1 room 201 which is a corner king unit. The room was very spacious even in the bathroom. It had quite a large closet area and the room did include a blow dryer, iron with board, microwave, and small fridge. Bldgs 1 and 2 are across the street from the office, breakfast area, and pool but it was not inconvenient at all. We had a great seat on our balcony for the live music on Saturday night. There is a lot of good restaurants and a fishing dock all right there at the property. The resort is in the entertainment district so there is music playing most evenings but other than the special event on Ruby St., you really aren’t disturbed by the music while inside the room. We can’t wait to return again soon perhaps in the summer!

My issues were: I am a 73 years old woman, I was put in BLDG 2, had to park across the street from the building, walk behind the building and enter an unlocked screen door to reach the elevator, not safe or convenient. My sliding door to the balcony did not lock, discovered after returning from dinner. TV volume not adjustable, remote didn't work, super nice desk lady (Ivy I believe) came over to the room took the batteries out and put them back in, volume still not adjustable but remote appeared to work until I couldn't turn it off when ready to go to sleep called office and she brought batteries which made the remote work but volume never was right. Light bulb out in the bathroom, so I changed it out for a lamp bulb that worked. I had booked for 2 people which changed last minute. Only coffee condiments in the room for 1 person 1 time. Very disappointed. If I ever stayed again I would request Main bldg and check everything before I ever unpacked anything or touched anything in the room.

- Darlene (10/5): Christmas pre getaway - Great hotel- low water pressure and shower/bath knob was backwards hot and cold, close to many bars on Friday night- very loud. Room very spacious, however back door entrance to B bldg no lighting and door open for anyone to enter. Area was beautiful,and people were very friendly.

It was fixed after we actulally checked out, so I guess it was fixed fairly promptly. Within an hour. Very loud bar patrons coming out of bar at 2 am.

When I opened my room the tv was on blasting loud with a broken remote, there was a dirty towel that clearly was used to remove makeup and the A/C didn’t work. The 2nd night they had some sort of party with a band directly below our room. With Children it was very difficult to sleep until after 11 when the band. Finally stopped. If we were notified of this we would have booked somewhere else. There was no one at the counter for hours to communicate with. Multiple families were upset that night. Check out went smoothly, but the over all experience left us unnerved a bit.

- Kimberly (2/5): Loud party hotel - If you’re looking to sleep at night, this is NOT the place! My first night I had to relocate at midnight because of a loud party in the room next to mine. Front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful in changing my room. The second night, I heard loud music until 2am coming from the bar downstairs. Overall, I didn’t get much rest and wasn’t a pleasant stay. I won’t be returning to this hotel.

- Kelly (6/5): - The Dog House Sports bar ruined our whole trip experience. The noise level late at night was intolerable. Multiple people complained and nothing was done. The Manager of the bar was oblivious as to the complaints or how to manage a "sports" bar. He goes past the noise ordinance that appears to be not enforced by the local police. On a sports Friday, bar had almost all patrons who wanted to watch the dolphins/jets game and they did not want to turn off the music at 3:00 in the afternoon to put let the patrons listen to the game. Then, that night, had the same issues with the late night music. The location on the lake was nice but we will never come back..
- Kathy (10/5): - We stay here 2 or 3 times a year and the stay is always good . One of the times the elevator wasn’t working and they notified Expedia and we were credited a free night.
- Lisa (10/5): - Gigantic place for a couple. Beautiful views of the water. Plenty of bars and restaurants in walkable distances. Only negative, if you don’t party it gets kinda noisy at night.
- Deborah (2/5): - Not even close to a “resort”. Very stark uncomfortable accommodations. Our 1st room in building 2 had no air conditioning; a tiny TV screen and access to the building at night seemed like a dark alley. Also, extremely loud music from local bars. Ivy couldn’t resolve AC problems, so she relocated us to another room in the main building. Thank you to Ivy for doing her best to resolve a bad situation. Steer clear away from Key West Resort.
- Margaret (4/5): - The key kept getting stuck in the door. The paint was peeling off the wall. There were several damage places on the floor. The a/c was leaking on the microwave. It smelled like mildew. And there was a printed piece of paper on the toilet that damaged or missing towels would cost $10.00. We’ve stayed here before in the main building and it was great. This time was one of other buildings and it was HORRIBLE.
- Pam (8/5): - There are restaurants within sight and easy walking distances from the room. It is not a quiet place as at least two of the restaurants have live bands that play until 11pm. This did not bother us, but had several people that said they didn’t get to sleep until after midnight because of all the noise. The food in the neighboring restaurants was good as was the service. My only real complaint was the lack of parking and not having any covered area to load or unload your car. Also, I hate not having regular maid service. I think the least one should receive is daily clean towels.

Nothing on the booking pages told me I was going to get a hotel room for SLEEPING yet NOT get to actually SLEEP on a Friday night because of the freaking loud band outside! Geez, ya'll, state that you provide this entertainment, that way the folks who want to party will come and the folks who want to SLEEP after a long day can do so in a quiet hotel somewhere else! I'm exhausted yet here i sit listening to punk rock 😳😳😳 I think the cold tile floor is horrible, too. The positive: the bed is cozy. ((I'm dying to use it right now.)

They played music at night outside and it was so loud it vibrated our room which was across the street. We could not enjoy our balcony or the pool, let alone relax or sleep in the room. Watching TV was barely possible as the loud bass meant we had to turn up the volume. The music went on past 10:00pm at night. Will not stay here again.

Downfall: walls are paper thin, can hear every conversation with neighbor and if you're there on friday/saturday night, bring ear plugs. You can hear the bands playing from the different bars and they play till midnight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good spot in a small town - This property was a great find in a small, quaint area. The front desk associate was super knowledgeable, and helpful in guiding me to navigate the property and the surroundings. I didn’t go to the pool, but it looked really nice, and a lake view room was great because the lake view was really pretty. It definitely felt dated, and the condition of the towels made me feel funny, but I’m picky about that stuff. The WiFi was rough, and since I was there for work it made things a little tricky, but still got what I needed to done. Just took longer. Overall this was a totally fine stay.

- Joseph (2/5): - Let me begin by saying I can sleep with a television on or a radio playing. I even used to live in a house that backed up to train tracks and the train came through every night and never disturbed me. This place is on a whole different level of noise. Both nights the band playing below the rooms of the hotel was so loud that the room shook until 3:00am. It was torturous even with ear plugs in which I bought after the first night. Also, the "resort" offers a free continental breakfast. That was a joke. The breakfast literally had premade ego waffles that were then individually wrapped in saranwrap and placed in a refrigerator. My kids will eat basically anything and they looked at me and said can we please go somewhere else for breakfast. When we left the breakfast room on our first day I asked the front desk lady where we could go eat breakfast. She directed me to a place down the street (it was walkable) that when we arrived was closed on Saturdays. Anyway, if you are a partier who wants to stay out until 3:00am and then go to your room and sleep in forgoing breakfast then this place will suit your needs. If you are looking for a reasonable place to get some rest and something to eat at the start of your morning then I would suggest sleeping in your car while packing some dry lucky charms in a ziplocked bag would be an upgrade.
