Guest Reviews
- marilyn (1/5): Disaster Motel - Nothing, it was horrible Holes in the walls and doors, no double lock, one bed had a headboard, the other didn't, mattresses uncomfortable, flying ants in the room, one of which stung me, dirty marks on the doors, wires sticking out of the wall, didn't feel secure or safe

- Cliff (2/5): -
- Clinger (3/5): Cold then warm - The room was a nice size was clean there was no heat, but they did give us a heater which was ok, but it set the fire alarm
- Inderjeet (1/5): My stay was cut short as soon as I saw a bug - Location was great The odour was bad. In the morning, I saw bugs crawling on pillow. I gathered all my belongings shook them out and left
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Shelly (3/5): Red flag - Location The room smelt musty.
The sheets were slept in.
Cobwebs and spiders.
Dirty glasses.
Rotten food in the fridge.
Mirrors were wiped down carelessly, you could see where the strokes were.
- Jane (2/5): - No longer needed room but could not make the desk clerk understand that. Too late for refund but thought I should let them know we weren't coming.
- Linda (1/5): I would NOT recommend this motel. Staff was great, but nothing more than a hotel room. No amenities - There was none. There wasn't even coffee in the room. No wash cloths in room, security was nil. Old fashioned door knob with key lock for security
- Jenny (2/5): Disappointing - Terrible motel. The owners have no interest in keeping it clean. No room amenities. Disappointing as the area is so nice this motel could be very good but the place is dirty
- Colleen (10/5): - It was a perfect stay the management are super jice
- -Margaret (6/5): - We have stayed at this property in previous years and it is very clean and the owners are very hospitable. Unfortunately the property does need some repairs and the room we stayed in does need attention in the bathroom, loose toilet and sink fixtures. Thus said, we will probably stay there again next year, as the owners are trying to get everything up to snuff.
- Janine (2/5): - Property should not be offered on expedia. Building is old and in need of major update and cleaning. Walls even have stuff/dirt/food???on them...rooms stuffy and stink. Old shower. Thankfully the bed seems good but scared to sleep in it. A/c unit works and hot water and good pressure in shower.
- Brian (4/5): - It is ok for the price! The bathroom was clean and it was dog friendly; The rooms are dated and could use a good clean. They are trying to update it but it was hard to enter the rooms due to the construction and somewhat dangerous.
- Brent (7/5): Good -
- Caitlin (2/5): - This place is horrendous. The entire place smells like cargaettes. The bathroom smelled like pee, the shower dripped, the soap is so old that the bars are brittle. The 2 bath and 2 hand towels that were provided were stained. The booking was for 3 guests. I had a towel with me luckily, so we could all shower. We kept all of our things in the car because everything inside the room took on the smoke smell.
So outdated, the door barely even closed. Honestly if we didn't have a kid with us we would have slept in the car instead.
Stay away!
- Jodi (4/5): - We didnt have hot water. We didnt even have warm water.
Bed was not comfortable at all and very rickety. Bedding was full of holes and towels were dirty.
- Sarah (2/5): - Bed cover had cigarette burns. Some chunk of meat or something on other bed. Room was dilapidated. We left and did not stay there.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor condition, unclean bed sheets! - The bed sheets were dirty, the floor was filthy, the shower head was dripping, and the door locks hardly worked. The unit where we stayed needs an upgrade. We did not use the microwave, refrigerator, or television. The AC unit was working fine. However, the lady at the front desk came (probably the owner) and cleaned the floor and changed the bedsheets herself. She also changed one dead bulb, which was appreciable.
- Carrie (9/5): Superb -
- Danielle (4/5): - The blankets were covered in hair and our room was not cleaned
- Eva (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (6/5): - This is just a motel to rest overnight. No luxuries. No temperature controls in the room. Had to ask for a portable heater as the room was so cold. Carpets are old, wood flooring looked dirty and stained. Very outdated spring mattress not comfortable at all. So outdated bathroom! Paid $105 for the night.... you get what you pay for. Couldnt believe the man behind the counter brought me the portable heater... knocked twice quickly at my door and opened it! Wow. My fault i didnt lock my door, but i never thought that he would just knock and walk into my room. Yes, i would stay here again, but only for emergency purposes.
- Agatha (7/5): Good -
- Agatha (7/5): Good -
- Randal (6/5): - Older. Room and shower were clean.
- Jenna (6/5): - Cheap and easy to get to and from. Beds could use an upgrade and room smelled like it use to have indoor smoking
- ANDRE (4/5): - The bathroom had ants coming in through the side of the toilet. I had to put a wet towel down to keep them from getting into the bathroom, the bed was horrible, they had put a rug down to cover up an unfinished renovation on the side of the sink. To top it off, the room has a back door that is closed with a small latch. A kick would be enough to get into the room.
- ANDRE (6/5): - It's what I would expect from a motel of that price. They didn't have bar soap or body wash, or shampoo (thank goodness I had it with me). Very clean and even though it was right on the highway, it was quiet. I used the option to pay there and they charged an extra fee, something related to one of those tourist taxes that some cities add to the prices. I hated that, mainly because New Hamburg is just a retirement place. Nothing there to do.
- John (4/5): - Room had a pungent odor when we arrived. AC helped. Mix match of furniture. Shower curtain discolored.
- Rob (6/5): Pleasant -
- Trudy (8/5): - Very basic but very clean. No face cloths in bathroom. Only 3 hangers for clothes. A table lamp beside bed would have been nice for night reading while partner wanted to sleep. Overall it was as expected for price
- Angela (5/5): Meh - The people were nice it clearly wasn’t cleaned properly.
There was an old bar of soap and hair etc in the tub and the towels were dirty etc.
The cups were dirty, there was an old fork into cupboard. The sheets were stained.
The overall look was nice but once you actually look look it was dirty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Just OK
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Stefan (2/5): A dump. - The owners are very nice but they have to deal with a bad building , first room was reeking of weed and the AC was making a rattling noise that actually we were able to hear it from the next room that they gave to us in exchange.
First room was two queen beds and they gave us a room with one queen bed so no like for like availability
They have some permanent residents at the end of the building -three suites that were partying and talking loud all night long so no resting for us plus the proximity to the major road that trucks were going all night long
Lots of flies in the room and even that I've got rid of them in an hour or so they were back.
Overall a very bad night and I do not recommend it. Everything about it .
- Esther (8/5): - Nice place
- Kristeen (5/5): Passable -
- Ronald (3/5): It was disappointing not getting a full night sleep. - The location was good. The room playing loud music at 1am. Called the office and got voice messaging.
- Wayne (6/5): Short stay a/c could have been cooler - Good location for what I needed Didn’t get the room I ordered. Booked a queen with single queen bed and walk in shower and love seat and got a room with twin queens and bathtub shower .
- Alexandre (2/5): Very poor -
- Simon (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible - Dirty bug infested do not stay
- James (1/5): Because of the the above you as a company should not list this building and it owners. - Not a thing The room was laden with black mold, the walls were sticky, TV was an old sharp Tv 23 " We did not use the bath room as it looked like it had not been washed in weeks, carpet was not vacumed we felt unsafe as the back door was only locked by a draw pin. Staff could not speak english, the ground of the building was covered in litter such as beer cans.
- John (4/5): - This place is a decrepit dump.
- William (10/5): - I don't need much in a motel. It was clean, comfortable, fridge and TV worked. Parking was simple, check-in was VERY simple - they were expecting me! Imagine that in a hotel/motel!!
- Tom (10/5): - As advertised, good rates room was clean pet friendly.
- Kenneth (2/5): - Dirty and bed squeaked and kept one person awake
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- David (7/5): great motel, owners keep upgrading facilities. -
- Mike (3/5): I got some sleep I guess - Friendly staff Sketchy people, found multiple socks under both bed and condom wrappers under the bed, stiff beds
- David (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brooke (2/5): - This motel is filthy and in disrepair.
- Jim (10/5): - Would stay again
- Ryan (10/5): - It was exactly what I needed!
- Jack (8/5): - They could fix the rotted floor. Putting a mat over it doesn’t help. Someone could trip and fall.
- MOSTAFA (10/5): - Nice area
- Chinaza (10/5): Great - Their hospitality was awesome and the owners are a great host I liked my experience there
- Temitope (7/5): Good -
- Alexpreet (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (10/5): - Very clean and great customer service.
- Dave (2/5): - While the owners were great. Bedbugs meant we would not stay there and had to find alternative. They were very good about understanding our issue.
- Anita (5/5): Passable -
- Tim (6/5): - Okay
- Andrea (5/5): Avoid unless desperate / really in search of the most inexpensive accommodations. - The staff who greeted us were very friendly. It didn’t smell. The controlled air was at the perfect temperature - not too hot or cold. It was nice and quiet. There were a working mini fridge and microwave which both came in handy. The decor / general state of the walls/wallpaper and “art” were abysmal. The lamp shades were crooked and stained, and the lighting (light bulb brightness/whiteness) made it feel like the set of a horror film or interrogation room. The mattress - if it can be called that - was supremely uncomfortable. Cannot comment on the sheets/bedding as we brought our own. The washroom had not been cleaned. There was a smoke stain on the wall near the radiator in the washroom that was worrisome.
- Billie (1/5): I was so disgusted with the whole situation that I left late last night and drove back to Toronto (150 km) after attendi - convenient to New Hamburg Mennonite QUILT AUCTION. on highway. I have pictures. no safety locks on doors; smoker-like smell on bedspread; painting chipped and mismatched; ineffective cleaning—bedside lamp was filthy; no cleaning service provided — I was there two days; no utensils provided; microwave filthy; terrible smell in room when I arrived; no washcloth provided; bathroom had mould; had to open the windows to air out the room and it still smelled;
- Lionel (7/5): Good -
- Diane (1/5): Bad - Outside looked great The room needs a major makeover, stayed twenty minutes, and left and drove home. Burn marks, stains on ceiling and carpet. Needs to be gutted and redone. Disgusting 🫣
- ALISON (4/5): - The owner is really nice but needs new bedding covers were stained, pillows old it wasn't cleaned properly inside. Can't control your heat so it was too hot for me. Very loud highway so bring earplugs if you stay here.
- Emily (2/5): - The most unclean room Iv ever stayed at. Whomever cleaned our room decided to smoke in the room ,when we arrived at almost 12 at night it STUNK of smoke. We actually found a half smoked cigarette in the empty “clean trash” in the bathroom. This meant when we showered we smelt of smoke because the towels were incased in smoke. On top of that there was a massive stain on my sheets, piece of glass in our bathroom floor and my husband slept on top of the sheets as everything had a layer of dust that we can see from far away. We actually had to go out and buy room spray and left early because we could not stand the filth and smell. Do not recommend.
- David (10/5): - The placed served what I needed.
- Amrit (1/5): Bad -
- Shawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helena (5/5): you get what you pay for. if I smelt better I would have been much happier but I would stay again - location was perfect. it was easy to come and go from the stratfrod festival which was 20 min away it smelt really bad in the room. there was no hair drier. sheets had old strains but were phusially clean
- Timothy (3/5): This motel seems better suited to long-term residents than for tourism. - The location was convenient. The room was quiet. Check-in and check-out protocols were simple, and the television worked. Room contained a rudimentary kitchen -- microfridge, countertop, and sink. The room smelled like an armpit and was infested with flies. The bathtub was so slippery (with nothing to grab on to), that it constituted a safety hazard. The room seemed in process of renovation but there was still a lot of work left to do.
- Fernando (2/5): Nice grounds but room very dated. - The owners are very nice helpful people. The grounds are very well maintained. Very dated. I assume from the burn marks from cigarettes in years past the furniture is a few decades old? The tub is extremely dangerous! They need to have slip mats on the tub for when you take a shower. No shampoo provided and very small soap bar. Thankfully I carry my own shampoo and shower gel with me when I travel. No coffee machine or even a kettle? I used the microwave to heat up some instant coffee that I had with me. They are doing their best with what they have but the Motel needs some serious capitol investment put into it.
- Norita (8/5): Very good -
- Lori (8/5): - Beds were comfortable. The room was very dated, comforter was patched. Air in the room was slightly musty/aged smelling.
- John (1/5): Would never recommend anyone to stay there. - The room has mould. It reacked cigeret smoke could hardly breathebut in front of outdoor there were cigeret bits burnet matches. I have never seen an uncempt room in all mylife. Will never ever go to that motel again. Oh the window you couldn’t see out of it. Floor was not swept.its like you were walking on a sandy beach. Terrible terrible.clean the room and Clean the room and stop people from smoking.
- Clemons (1/5): Completely unacceptable. - AC and TV worked. Bathroom was okay. The room was dirty. The sheets had visible dirt and hair. The carpet, sofa and walls were filthy. The room smelled bad.
- Chad (1/5): Avoid - Nothing Everything
- Guy (8/5): Very good -
- John (2/5): Don’t stop to look in. Don’t book there. - Location horrible
No food or vending machine
Bottled water provided because the motel water was unsafe according to owner 🥴🤢🤮 There was no breakfast.
There was no potable (safe to drink) water.
I learned there is NEVER potable water.
They give out bottled upon request.
Room was semi-finished being painted in 4 different tones (1/4 wall, 1/3 wall etc. 🥴🤢. Guess they couldn’t decide.
- sirak (2/5): - Very bad need attention to clean. Smells cigarette all beds. Someone doesn’t smoke like my self couldn’t sleep in the room. It looks also there is some bedbugs because I saw blood in the wall.
- Ray (6/5): - The owner was polite and friendly.
- Ken (6/5): - Clean
- Helene (2/5): Very dirty - Very dirty hair on bedding floor dirty shower dirty no cover over window in bathroom
- Charif (6/5): - Cheap, old furniture, freeway access and quiet.
- Eucharia Kosiso (10/5): - It was perfect
- William (10/5): - Served it purpose.
- Margaret (8/5): Overnight - For the price, it was adequate and convenient for our purposes. It was clean and fine for the overnight stay. No security locks on the door which was a bit unsettling.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I didn't like that the room was dirty especially in the bathroom. I wish they took more time to clean mirrors and windows. The floors were clean, the beds were nice but the heater was filthy in the bathroom and the table in the room was awfully small for doing anything. My suggestion would be to put coffee makers in the rooms, wash the curtains and windows and keep everything cleaner. The outside was very well kept but I took my 2 grandchildren with me thinking there was a play area which there wasn't. they certainly have the land for one.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty towels, poor dingy, worst stay ever, can't really say stay. As we ran out of there less than an hour later
Not fit for a cochroah or flea to stay the night.Needs an extreme serious make over.
- J (4/5): - Our blankets had cigarette burns, the room smelled heavy of dog, the mattress was bowed and the TV was ancient.
