- jodiee592 (6/5): OK for a relaxing getaway - Resort is off the main area of Ixtapa - to get around you'll need a car. The unit had good air conditioning. There are personnel at the reception 24 hours. It's on a golf course, so quiet except for one night when there was a very loud party nearby that went onto until one or two am. They clean & restock towels daily, but the kitchen only has basic kitchenware. We had to buy our own paper towels, soap & scrub sponge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - ¡Excelente opción para familias grandes!

Grounds were well kept. We liked everything.
- Ivan (10/5): - Buena pero las instalaciones requieren remodelacion y mantenimiento
- 738luciah (8/5): Wonderful vacation in ixtapa - Coral Ixtapa is a very nice hotel. The rooms a very spacious and clean. However the hotel is very old and needs up dating. The beds are firm but we brought a memory foam pad that we checked in a large suitcase. Made all the difference in the world! The view from patio is beautiful overlooking pool and golf course. Location is about 1.5 miles from hotel zone. We walked everywhere but like walking.
- Camila (10/5): Excellent place and great staff - The trees and view plus the cleanliness Everything was great
- Adrian (10/5): - Excelente trato... excelente habitacion recomiendo a familias.
- Fátima (10/5): - Es ideal para niños y las habitaciones son muy amplias
- Suzy (6/5): - It was a quiet area, a bit far from beach. The rooms were a great size for a family.
- Mayra (10/5): Excelente place - Everything was clean staff was very nice. Suite with 3 bedrooms and three bathrooms was awesome.
- Gabriela (10/5): - Excelente lugar
- Eleazar (10/5): Buen lugar de paso . - Excelente servicio, barato y pues es lo que pagas.
- Cruz (1/5): Bad -
- Jorge (8/5): Very good - Good room ,price, pool, quiet Too far away from any major shopping. Or restaurants
Air. Coolers didn't all work correctly
- Harold (8/5): Very good - Large 2 bedroom unit with a very large front patio.Staff extremely helpful.
- Journey49827 (10/5): Fantastic for a budget accommodation - Would stay here again although it is far from everything. A car is necessary but taxi is very cheap. It us nice that Monica was english speaking which helped with communication and Roberto the Manager was very personable.
- Sherri (9/5): Superb -
- Abril (2/5): Very poor - Location Apartment had cockroaches. Air conditioners take too long to cool. They look.ancient.
- Remo (8/5): Very good -
- dcilliers (8/5): Lovely spot but hard beds - This is a very tranquil location in a residential neighborhood overlooking a golf course. The birds in the evening are amazing and there are even crocodiles on the banks of the lakes. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We rented a car for the week and I recommend that as it is 5 to 10 minute drive to anywhere in Ixtapa and would be a long walk, plus you will definitely want to get to Zihuatanejo. The two bedroom unit was pretty spacious, the kitchen was fairly well stocked but basic with too small electrical burners full size fridge and microwave but no oven. Cleaning was done daily. The biggest negative was the terribly hard beds which kept us tossing and turning all night long just to try to get some sleep. We only had hot water twice but that was not such a major issue because the climate is warm and the water is not ice cold from the shower. I think there is hot water in the morning and daytime but not much in the evening when we wanted to shower after being at the beach. Overall a very nice stay but I wouldn't go back and less I knew they had replaced the beds.
- Rhanda1 (10/5): Ixtapa stay at the Coral Ixtapa - It was a quiet area of Ixtapa and not the hustle and bustle that is near the beach with the big hotels. We have stayed at the big resorts and when you are trying to sleep there is people kids screaming and hollering and slamming doors and maybe by 1 or 2 a.m. things quiet down.
You do need to take taxis if you want to go to the beaches or downtown Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. The desk is in contact with the taxi service and they are there within 5 minutes.
We had grandkids with us and they were happy with the resort. The pool was not over crowded and there were other activities for them to do.
- AugieBarbie (8/5): Coral Ixtapa December 2019 - This property is located on the golf course in Estaba. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and loved that we had a full kitchen and plenty of space. It is not the Ritz, but it’s a very nice place to stay if you’re looking for a clean and quiet place on the golf course just minutes from the beach and at a great value.
- stephengK6305UV (10/5): Quiet time in Ixtapa - A very nice, quiet resort, but you need to speak some Spanish. In the normal heat it's too far to walk to restaurants or the beach area, but taxis are quite reasonable - a couple dollars each way. The living area is very large with a very large patio (on the ground floor). The AC worked well after we had a glitch (water from the AC on the floor), which was repaired the next day.
- 906alanj (2/5): Terrible way to spend a tenth anniversary - The only reason we continued to stay here is because it is clean. There are no other redeeming qualities about this resort. I have never seen towels in rattier condition. If we had these at home we’d throw them away. Wouldn’t even use them as car wash towels. There were no stores or restaurants around. Closest place is a 25 minute walk in 30 degrees climate. This resort is in a residential location, every home in the area had at least one dog. Their barking was constant which drastically affected quality of sleep & relaxation. The beach is no where near this resort, you’d have to taxi there and back. There are so many negative things about this place, this list could go on & on
- Lee406 (8/5): very peaceful - My wife and I stayed here with friends through the Armed Forces Vacation Cub Website for 2 weeks and loved it. It is located on a golf course off the beaten path where the majority of the beach resorts are located. It is in a very nice neighborhood surrounded by beautiful villas and backs up to an 18 hole golf course. The rooms are spacious and clean and well kept up as are the grounds also. The swimming pool was kept very clean and was a refreshing break after a long day of sightseeing.
The downside was its distance from restaurants and shopping which necessitated the need for transportation since it was not feasible for us to walk very far.
The staff took very good care of us and responded quickly to our requests. I especially want to thank Enedina and Luis for everything they did for us. They always went out of their way to help make our stay there a most memorable one.
- mikelM8256RX (8/5): Coral ixtapa one week Feb 2017 - Everything others have said about this hotel is true. It is a nice quiet hotel. The staff are very friendly and will do whatever they can to make your visit a happy one. The hallways, pool area and rooms are all kept very clean. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had wonderful view of the Golf course the hotel backs on to. Nice big balcony over looking the pool so great to sit out and eat breakfast while, the golfers go by. This place is very quiet and away from the hotel strip which we really liked. But unless you rent a car you do need to walk about 25 min to get to the beach and restaurants. For us wasn't too big a deal to walk or take a taxi. We had hot or sometimes warm showers each day though one day they did some work on the buildings plumbing so was without water for most of the day. While the rooms are spacious and clean they are a little tired and could use some updating. Also other than the hotel manager Ricardo who is a great guy and very helpful most other staff speak no English at all. But we were able to manage. I would recommend this hotel to budget travelers who want a quiet get away. Also as mentioned there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity so you either have to buy groceries and cook your meals or head to the Blvd to where the restaurants are. Also the Internet was only available down by the pool so we had to sit out on our balcony to get reception. Or in the lobby. Also we didn't see many North American patrons and it seemed locals stay there for a single night or two but otherwise we had the whole hotel and pool area to ourselves. The bed mattresses are very firm, some would say hard.
- LnorPabs (8/5): Coral Ixtapa is laid-back beauty. - Located on the main Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course in ixtapa, Coral is indeed more Mexican than the beachfront resorts. We have stayed here for at least a week for the last 25 years. The service is good; the staff is friendly; and the view over the golf course is really lovely. Our apartment is big: one master bedroom with ensuite bath and dressing area; one smaller bedroom with two twins; hall bath; good appliances (new microwave, new coffeemaker, fridge new last year); good kitchen; big cathedral-ceiling living room; huge full sized loft with another full bath and ample closets (it's reached by a spiral staircase so don't drink too much if you have that room). We are here after the crowds, so we do have to ask them to turn on the hot water, because they turn it off for the majority of the rooms. The WiFi is now fine; I was able to download a book from Audible, easily. You do need to bring shampoo and conditioner but I do anyway. Coral is peaceful and quiet. You can watch the birds settle for the evening as the sky turns pink. It's a nice retreat from the frantic beach and party music. We like it.
- johnwL6287RZ (8/5): Old Mexico, not a resort. - I have been traveling to Mexico for 20 years 2-3 times a year, so I have stayed in many resorts in many places around the Country of Mexico. Ixapa, and surrounding area are much more laid back than Cancuun, PV, Nuevo Vallarta, Cabo, San Jose Del Cabo and tourist driven cities like that.
We were told tourist season really doesn't kick off until Dec., many businesses had signs that they were closed until November.
This place is clean, and a piece of old Mexico. It is located on a golf course, so the view is of the golf course, and pool area. A nice small pool that rarely had people at it. The town is 5 minutes away. Most staff barely spoke English, so be prepared to struggle through if you don't speak some Spanish. There was no hot water for the 7 days we were there. Showers were cold water, and we told the desk each day for the first three days and gave up on it. Luckily the water is not freezing cold out of the tap, it was simply a cool somewhat refreshing shower. beds are a mattress on a slab of concrete like many older Mexican hotels and Condos. The mattress was not bad, we initially felt we would be waking up with a sore back like has happened at other stays; fortunately, the mattress was not bad and we slept well without a back ache.
There are some large self contained resorts right down in Ixtapa, they seem to have most services all contained within their structure; do not expect that at this place. Coral Ixtapa is surrounded by private residences with no services in close proximity. No on site restaurant.
If you like to enjoy inexpensive massage when you are on vacation, this place may not be the Mecca. I typically enjoy massage and like to find a small place in the local area with A/C, clean interior and good prices. It seems that Ixtapa and Zejuatnajoe are not set up like many areas to accommodate massage in the way we typically do. Most massages are located on the beach in open air covered tents or cabins, no A/C, a little sand to help the gritty feel, and when it is 90 degrees out it is a little warm. The ambience is the sound of the beach and beach goers in the background. It is just not the same as a nice little place with A/C and quiet.
Fishing in the area is cheap compared to Cabo and PV! A nice 30+ foot boat with twin diesels, captain and deck hand, bait, and a day of offshore fishing costs less than a Panga in other areas.
If you go to this area don't expect Coral Ixtap to be anything more than clean old accommodations in a residential area and you will not be disappointed. I was not disappointed, but with so few reviews I was not sure what to expect. You probably should expect cold showers based upon my experience.
Condo, not a hotel... Large room with kitchen facilities.
- javiers826 (10/5): A Real Vacation - I love this place it's part of the reason I want to go back. It's beautiful and layback, it was so relaxing and the service was outstanding. It's perfect if you're on a budget, I rather stay here than a hotel on the beach. Too many people!!!!!!!!
- garyk662 (8/5): Coral Ixtapa time off - Came down to Ixtapa by myself for a week from December 4th. Second time to Ixtapa & first time at Coral Ixtapa. The resort is more like a residential condo complex, as there are only 18 rooms at 3 stories. The resort is in a upper class residential home area behind a golf course. It's an older place but well maintained for both indoors & the lawn/garden areas. It has 2 pools with one a small wading type one.
The rooms are very spacious & also well maintained. They will do house keeping daily if you want it. I would say the rooms are 1100+ sq ft with a queen bedroom & a 2 twin bedroom. The kitchen is adequate enough to get by should you do cooking. The living room/kitchen area is spacious as well as a very large balcony that over looks the pools, garden area & golf course. The only slight negative is the TV is very small for such a big room but who comes to Ixtapa to watch TV. BTW, it does have a lot of channels with 1/2 dozen or so English speaking.
The staff is helpful & friendly & will get to know you right away.
The only issue about the location, as it is quiet & in a nice neighborhood, is that it's about 1 1/2 to 2 miles to town depending where you're going. I walked it daily & it's actually a nice walk thru the neighborhood & then along woodsy path next to a main road that has both a sidewalk & bike path, which both were used on my walks. The cab fare is 45 to 50 pesos only, $3.50 or so US.
Again, couples or families can really enjoy this place with it's quiet location & spacious rooms.
- RodrigoG257 (10/5): Exactly what I was looking for! - This is the perfect place for a family on a budget. All installations are really well maintained and the rooms are spotless. The staff is friendly and helpful; always willing to give you the best advice on places to visit in the area. Te neighborhood is well located and peaceful; everything is about 5 min away. My family and I had a great time!
- colinwcollier (8/5): I never knew what lurked behind the walls - I have just finished week 2 of my 5 week stay, and have been very pleased. I have seen the building many, many times while playing golf, but never really gave it a thought. I lived in Ixtapa for over 6 years, and never even talked to anyone who had stayed here. Coral is predominantly a condo/hotel/time share located in the back of the golf course on the 4th hole. The rooms are spacious (2 bedrooms, 2 baths with fully complemented mini kitchen, living area and terrace) and immaculately clean. There is also a lovely common area with a pool for adults and another for children. What I like best is the fact that it is far enough from the constant bar noise of the hotel boulevard that you aren't kept up all night by the boom-boom-boom that weighed heavily in my decision to move away from Ixtapa. You can actually have a quiet night's sleep almost every night. Except at the Nacional peak times, (Christmas, Easter and summers) the hotel sits virtually vacant most of the time, making it ideal for people looking for peace and quiet. And, it is very reasonably priced.
The negatives: Despite the tireless efforts of the staff, the internet in the room has not been a joy for the last 2 weeks, though the internet in the lobby is great. If you have a car, there is little drawback to staying here. If not, it's probably a longer walk to the beach and the Boulevard than most people would care to make, making a cab to wherever, almost obligatory. But all in all, it is my kind of place, and I plan to stay here whenever I'm in Ixtapa, as long as they have room for me. Thanks to Roberto, Marco, Jesus, Daniel and Lorena for making Coral Ixtapa feel like my home away from home.
- KenaiRobb (10/5): Cheaper than the beaches and more laid back - I have been to Coral Ixtapa on several occasions. If you are active it is a 20 minute walk into Ixtapa (Or a $3 USD cab ride.) The maids are great cleaning the room everyday and leaving towels crafted into animals and baskets of flowers.
The pool is small but adequate.
Hot water is prevalent in the mid day as they have solar water heat. But even in the evening or morning there is warm water if you let the faucet run a few minutes...what a waste of water though. Funny thing is you never know if the right or left handle is the hot water.
Friendly, customer caring staff speaking broken English.
It is right on the golf course which is like a nature reserve. I would wander around each evening to see the quail, birds, banana trees, beautiful birds and even the large CROCODILES on the golf course. There is an easy gate access to the golf course and I would walk to town on the golf cart tracks (during the day...in evening I found gate by the golfcart rental locked, so had to backtrack a ways...)
Fitness center?_ who needs it when you can walk, jog, golf all on the golfcourse accessible from the site...?
Kitchenette and refrigerator, juicer, coffee maker, dishes, stove top, etc are all included.
