Guest Reviews
- Joel (10/5): - People on the street can see right in bedroom windows as they walk past.
- Trudi (2/5): - 0/10 Do not stay here!!!! Rooms are directly next to a bar - noisey until the early hours. Too many different codes to get in and out. No parking. Had to contact help x3 to enter. Dirty - cockroaches, remnants of the mop wrapped around the furniture, very tiny and nothing like the images in real life. Stay elsewhere!!!
- Colby (6/5): - Room was made up nicely, but didn't look like it had been cleaned properly before we attended. Floor hadn't been vacuumed, quilt cover was stained, "droplets" around the toilet bowl, there looked to be blood on the roller blind. The main window from the foyer had a see through blind, so not the best for privacy. Decent sized room for the price. Great location. Called to confirm the booking and was given early access to room. Didn't have much to do with the staff outside of the booking confirmation, but the limited communication was very professional and helpful.
- Matthew (2/5): - Do NOT stay at this property. Noisy bar next door and music only stopped at 1.00am. Asked for a refund and flatly refused.
- Wendy (10/5): - Great spot near Civic Theatre
- Maria Carolina (8/5): - Its spacious apartment and centrally located
Nice for a group of friends or big families,
Was delayed getting gate and door code but all sorted after a few phone calls thanks
- David (8/5): - Central to city, and cafes
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Interstate place, ground floor backed on to a noise street, water leaks across kitchen and woke to cockroaches in the lounge. Shower ran cold
- Letitia (2/5): - This property is nothing like the photos- definitely overpriced and not well managed or cleaned. The foyer and corridor leading to apartment is smelly and filthy. The apartment smelt of previous cooking and you couldn't open windows- no flyscreens but mosquitos. No furniture or comfort- one couch for three people - dirty carpet. No lift so 90yr old had to use stairs.
- susan (8/5): - Nice and central in newcastle.Quiet location,good size apartment.will use again.
- Renee (2/5): - Cleaning should be a priority and actually supplying a room that is advertised. Pillow was lovely though.
- Nicole (6/5): - Overall disappointing. The property felt tired and worn. It took an hour to get the air con working which ended up needing to be reset via the remote. Small cockroaches appeared when I sat on the lounge. I was informed no parking was available yet the carpark was less than half full all night.
- Julie (6/5): - These apartments were clean and comfortable but were completely uninspiring (black furniture, no artwork) and nothing to make them even a little bit sustainable - no recycling bins, a massive chux cloth per stay which gets thrown out, single use plastic body care bottles etc.
Also, I was put on hold for 30 mins several times when I tried to call the off-site receptionist and couldn't get through - gave up.
- Fiona (8/5): - The property is well situated in Newcastle and convenient to a number of dining options. Only trouble was with the airconditioning - one room it wouldn't turn on and the other it wouldn't turn off.
- Gisella (10/5): - Space and location are great.
- Wendy (6/5): - Good location
- Momeem (2/5): - I had 2 bookings back to back but never going back there again
- Peter (8/5): - The pillows
- Mark (10/5): - The staff deserve a huge praise, they are so welcoming and helpful and make it such an easy stress free stay . The apparent was excellent and spotless, like I said from the amazing staff on the phones to the cleaning staff thank you a very well run service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Mark (10/5): - Room was clean and comfortable, I was very happy with the room and service from the staff on the phone , they were so welcoming and helpful and I enjoyed yet another happy stay here, thank you to all staff 😊
- Mark (10/5): - the transaction and communication was so easy and made it so easy the communication with the codes ect made it so easy , honestly after trying the place out i'm impressed and am on my third stay there now , hats off to them give yourselves a pat on the back .Super helpful support from staff on the phone. from 1 happy Customer , Mark
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was great. Staff we encountered via phone were quite abrupt. Parking was advertised as included and we had to pay $20 per night. No apology, just a rude manner. Price was right overall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and comfortable accommodation. Near some great places to eat and close to shops if you need to stock up on groceries.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was nice, easy access, close to everything. Do recommend. Only concern is the holding deposit that was required came out as pending the morning of our arrival and then we were told it would be back in our account after check out. Now the deposit has been completely drawn from our account. This maybe needs to be assessed, apart from this slight inconvenience everything was good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Do not stay here! Unclean room, I don’t know when it was last vacuumed. Looks big but no room in the kitchen. When cooking the exhaust fan does not work so smoke alarm goes off continually. Paid for parking and the exit gate (opposite a brothel) was open. When I called to ask if it would be fixed, man on reception was rude and hung up on me. Would not recommend anything about this place
- Verified traveler (6/5): - tiny shower, reasonable location, and faulty sofa. Comfy bed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Plenty of space. Very comfortable. Well catered. Modern. Excellent. Will definately use in the future.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My bedroom fronted a busy lane near hotel with loud music and outside seating. The windows had no double glazing.
The noise level was very unacceptable.
I have told as many people at my tournament to never stay at this place.
- Owen (8/5): potential - Generally the room was nice and the beds very comfortable. But there were no bed side lamps and the was a spot of blood on one of the single bed pillows. My daughter slept with a towel over the pillow she ended up using but it still left an uneasy feeling. Also, no storage at all in the second bedroom.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I found it very impersonal with no reception/ staff. Also having to remember all the different codes to get in and out of the property. No Keys was very off putting. Very noisy, slamming doors and noisy housekeeping staff. Good location otherwise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Big spacious apartment..clean with everything i needed....just no mop for the kitchen floor and the next door neighbour was slamming his door
- LJS (8/5): - Apartment was very comfortable and well apportioned. Bit of noise from the street at night, though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was not expecting much for the price but was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be back when staying in Newcastle next time. Top spot, close to everything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean , tidy and secure. Washing machine was a very handy feature, close to the tram and Newcastle exchange.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We were moved without notice to another location not near where we wanted to be
- Cal (10/5): - Close to the tram stop. Clean, tidy, easy to find.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Rude male staff, poor condition, good size - It was a OK stay, try best find better if available some where.
I was warned not to park others parking slot heavy fine applied, when I go someone esle parked in my slot and struggle to find one and when I informed it..aaahhh, its ok, will give you another slot. When I asked are to given heavy fine to that person, .... not really....
One of the Make telephone operator was very rude and when I wanted to clarify thing... he straight away told " I am not going to explain it again..." lack of maturity and business oriented answers, not customer friendly.
Good large space but very hard smell of cockroach or anti-cockroach spray...., it a just OK stay.
again space is good size.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Central to city, secure car parking and unit was clean and had everything we needed. We would come back again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very spacious and clean. Great location. Will be back to stay again
- Terry (10/5): - Quick and easy check in. Took 3 phones calls to finally get a code for car parking. Room was clean and bed was comfy. For a lastminute booking it was perfect.
We were close to where we needed to go. Will book for our next time we visit Newcastle.
- Margaret (8/5): Comfortable stay - It was good.
- Andrew (6/5): Disappointed - Have previously stayed here but it has deteriorated. Apartments are spacious & well appointed but poorly cleaned & maintained- previous guests (?) had left hole in wall & plaster still on carpet, somebody’s medication left in cupboard, smoke alarm covered in plastic bag.... External lighting poor & lift light not working at all. Lift unreliable & completely useless by day 3. Carpark secure but costly. All a pity as these are great apartments in good location (local pub noisy but music stops before 11pm so not an issue) & with better attention can be excellent.
- Patricia (8/5): Amazing but noisy - The apartments are amazing. Security car parking great. But the apartment we were allocated was directly above the hotel and Friday and Saturday night patrons were very noisy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The apartment was minimally furnished, not as seen in photos.
So many codes for doors and gates, too many.
Wasn't sent a gate code so had to ring again after having had to book and pay extra for parking.
Should have booked a single room because apartment wasn't much better, just a vast empty space.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Would think twice before staying again - The carpet in the apartment was dirty with several dead cockroaches under the bed.
The apartment has a kitchen however you cant really cook without having the door of the apartment open.
No aircon in the bedroom so it was very hot and stuffy.
The toaster was ridiculously dirty and needed to be cleaned before use.
- colin (8/5): - Great location. Roomy apartment. No cooling system in the bedroom. Also front outside light wasn't working. No light in the lift which make for a dangerous situation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not to bad over all , 2 bedroom decent sized - If you don’t mind a bit of noise is good & awesome that there is a bar right next door
- Catherine (6/5): - Good location, nice clean room but worst bed I’ve ever slept on. Horrible night sleep
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was great location. Lacking upkeep fittings in bathroom need replacing VERY small shower with mould. No toilet paper supplied. Was a bit of a maze to get to our room. Was comfortable and fantastic location right price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Cold showers all times of day or night. No bulbs in bedside or standard lamp in the lounge. Very noisy location during all hours of the night. Overpriced for what was delivered. No refund offered by the management just thanks for letting us know of the faults. DON NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! DO NOT STAY THERE!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, clean, and well furnished.
Our room was a little noisy at night when the wind picked up, as the windows rattled a bit.
- Grainne (10/5): Exactly like photos! - Lovely apartment. Clean tidy and perfect for our needs!
Would definitely stay again
- Ken (4/5): Too Noisy - Our appartment was directly above the Star Hotel, which to our disappointment turned out to be extremely noisy with hotel patrons coming and going until after 2:00am in the morning making for a totally sleepless night due to the party mode of everyone was in on a Saturday night. As well there was a lot of traffic noise all night long. There was no mention of this in any of the advertising material for this accomodation
- Anonymous (2/5): Disappointing standard of accommodation - Rooms positioned close to main street with 24 hour roadworks taking place - very noisy. Apartment backed on to public laneway which people access all night - busy and noisy.
Cleanliness and hygiene not up to standard.
Overall, occupants left feeling tired and feeling uncomfortable after spending the night in sub-standard hygienic apartments.
Issues addressed with Management who, after almost 3 weeks and a number of follow-ups, apologised and advised that housekeeping procedures would be modified.
- Verified traveler (8/5): GREAT location close to everything. - Construction work everywhere at the moment. but overall nice place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A little tricky to find the room. No ventilation in the room. Small room but comfortable and clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Adequate for our needs - Security of door opening to alley very poor & the closeness of people traffic & speech made it very difficult to sleep, the inside units would be much better suited.
- Marie (6/5): - Fabulous location! Terrible tobacco smell. Great laundry facilities. No pay tv. No remote control for aircon. Room was cold. Had to sleep in warm clothes. Bed had one thin blanket. 3 codes to get into apartment but that was quite doable.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Excellent location. Modern appliances. - Awful tobacco smell hits each time we entered. No remote control for air con and apartment was very cold.
Windows locked shut...can't be opened.
Good modern appliances.
One very thin blanket on bed.
Had to wear warm clothes to bed.
Fabulous location.
- Jason (2/5): Avoid like the plague - Stay anywhere but here. Photos are nothing like the tiny hole you are put in. Description says there is a sofa bed available, there isn't. Only car parking available was 500m away unless you just park on the street with meters. One end of the bedroom window has a pub and the other has a brothel. The noise started to quiet down after about 3.30am. Bathroom was covered in mould. There really is nothing good to say about this experience at all. Even the people you spoke to on the phone were rude. If this is the only place left in Newcastle to stay at, sleep on the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect!
- Chloe (10/5): Highly recommend - Can't fault this place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good stay - Was a good place to stay, close to everything in town but wasn't easy trying to check-in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good rooms if on sale - Ground floor room facing the lane is noisy, bedroom is on the lane side.
Place was clean but cups were not (coffee spots and rings)
Altogether good for the one night we stayed good location walking distance to most bars and restaurants
- Stephanie (8/5): - It's close to shops and food and the place is very comfortable, although the bedroom did get very hot at night.
Would come back here again.
- Jim (6/5): Modern and neat - Needed a room last minute so grabbed this one for $178. Had to use pin codes to get into the property and then another to get into the building and then another to get into the room. Room was neat and modern and a good size for the two of us. Window wouldn’t open so no fresh air. Everything else was nice. EXCEPT there was NO remote for the TV, only the DVD player. And the air con remote was about to fall apart. Plus we had to take our rubbish with us when we left, bin to put said rubbish in outside wasn’t easy to locate either. And an ice cube tray in the freezer would have been nice. The pub downstairs (NOT affiliated with this accommodation) is fantastic! Will go back there.
All in all the room was nice but maybe owner needs to check on maintenance a bit more? Who washes the sheets etc? Surely they would notice a missing remote and a broken air con remote??
- patrick (2/5): Terrible. The rooms are on top of a night club. - Worst apartments i ve ever stayed in. I could not sleep because of the music from the pub downstairs
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice, modern, clean & spacious. Great location, close to restaurants, bars & CBD. When I booked I was under the impression that car parking was included. I wasn't aware that special arrangements had to be made. The off street parking was convenient & free on the weekend. Our taxi fare to Queen Warf was only $11.
We enjoyed our stay & would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good central location, clean and tidy, our pre-allocated park was a bit tight due to security fence, but access to units is quite secure. Kitchen and laundry very useful for longer stays
- Josh (10/5): Star apartment - Excellent room, entire suite.
Clean and had full laundry facilities.
Comfortable living space with big TV and very modern right in the city hub
Bang for buck a great deal
- Julie (6/5): Fine if you like small things - If you like small spaces and small beds this place is for you. The photos are deceptive and the photo (at the time of writing this review) is the studio apartment with a dinning table is false. Was called the day before to confirm booking (which is great) and told I had a king size bed....it wasn’t. If was only a double. False advertising. Hunter street is under a lot of construction and a ghost town at the moment. Rarely saw others when walking to the restaurant. It was unnerving. Will not be staying again.
- Craig (10/5): - Great facilities, great pricing and the unit has so much room!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel and good location - Disappointing phone call and hour before check in from the manager saying we must put down a $1000 deposit and there’s to be no noise and really carrying on. We knew others staying there and weren’t made pay anything.
Rooms weren’t overly clean. Socks and hair bands in main bedroom.
Comfortable rooms but skylights make it hard to sleep past 5am
- Harsh (6/5): Convenient - Great location - we were attending a conference at the Nex, plus okay for bars and restaurants. Not far from beach etc. BUT not in the heart of the action. No on site staff. Apartment reasonably clean, but bed and sheets DID NOT have a fresh feeling. Stains, yellowing...etc.
At night noise from bar next door could be heard, but acceptable.
Area overall is overpriced for apartment accomodation for what it offers.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good central location in Newcastle - Great stay and convenient to where we wanted to be and what we wanted to do. Good secure car park. Room was a bit dirty, had to wash all crockery cutlery and glasses etc before we could use them. Splash back in kitchen hadn't been cleaned in ages splattered with grease bathroom wasn't very clean and had a bad smell hot water tap was partially broken
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was a nice clean place but limited car parking - it was ok room had everything we needed but we had to dispose of our own rubbish before we left and there was no parking had to leave car on the street.
