- Susan (10/5): - This is a nice small hotel with 3-4 rooms. The room size is large with a sitting area, kitchenette, large bedroom and bathroom. What makes this place fantastic is the location. You are almost across the street from the boardwalk and two blocks to the downtown area for shopping and restaurants. What a great location. Just so you are aware there is no staff on premises and everything is self check in and out. The number they give you is a message machine. But it worked out fine and location, location, location. The parking might be difficult if they were full.
- Holly (10/5): - We stayed in the "Upper Deck" suite and it was perfect for us. We loved having our coffee on the balcony with the view of the water. It was clean, comfortable, and an easy walk to the beach or main strip of town. Excellent coffee and plenty of restaurants and shops are a very short walk away while the site is peaceful and feels removed from the tourist area. It was great to have a parking spot as we liked some spots on the East side of town which is a short drive. Communicating with the innkeeper over email always got a swift response.

Easy check-in and check out. Close to “Snug Harbor” restaurant and that was yummy and reasonably priced! Beautiful views! I can’t say enough good things. This is certainly a hidden gem and worth it. ❤️

- Linzy (10/5): A lovely stay - My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights as a little getaway. The cottage was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable as well. There was a strong smell of what we think must be burnt popcorn in the kitchenette area. It wasn’t unbearable though. The kitchenette had everything you would need to cook a small meal which was nice. The disposable coffee cups were so nice to have so we could take a coffee to-go. It was also nice to have some vanilla coffee creamers. It was nice that there were beach towels supplied so we could bring them to the beach. A couple things that I would change is to have a bigger trash bin and to add a recycling bin in the cottage. Also it would be great if the TV had a fire stick or Roku so we could have pulled up a movie to watch. There was just cable. The location of the cottage is so great! Just a short walk to the boardwalk.

- LAURA (10/5): - Captain's Cottage is super cute! The pictures really dont do it justice. We were a block from the beach. Snug Harbour and Noto's are a must for waterfront dining. Downtown had lots to offer as well and was walking distance to CC. We had to make a trip to Meijer...also very close...and was astonished at the cleanliness and upscale feel of this store. We had a great, although too short stay, at Captain's Cottage.

- Allie (10/5): Perfection! - Grand Haven is my 2nd home and Captain's Cottage is my 2nd home. I have stayed here many times and it's always perfect. So clean (without the toxic clean smell), very comfortable and a perfect location to downtown and the lake.

- Ramzy (6/5): - I booked property same morning 5 hours prior to our arrival. I received immediate email confirmation of my stay and that I would receive a follow up email w a code to the lock box closer to check in (3:00 pm); I checked my email 3x times in route and nothing. We arrived about 2:40 and still no email or any communication re lock box code and entry! I called the property 3 times at the number listed on Expedia reservation as well as their own website but no answer, each time leaving a VM. I called Expedia who put me on hold and attempted to reach the property, same results! Expedia gave up after another wait and attempt and offered to book me someplace else, a Best Western.. I refused since not a similar property off the beach/boardwalk area which was the attraction to booking in the first place. A competitor property next door attempted to call property mgr at a different number they had and left a msg to give me a call.. a guest staying on a lower level who I introduced myself to also called and did same.. 2 1/2 hours later while dining nearby, I received a call from Tiffany, the property check in rep apologizing that she had not noticed the reservation & didn’t have access to email for a while! Unbelievable, since there was no issues w booking the property n getting a confirmation email (which I suspect was auto generated). Who’s manning the gatehouse?? After requesting n initially refuted I was granted a 4 pm check out. That was nice but an xtremely frustrating xperience!

Having a smart tv option could have been a bonus minus just cable. Walls are pretty thin. But otherwise great stay and very communicative property managers. Easy check-in and parking lot a bonus.

- Augie (10/5): Nice quaint cottage - The property itself was very nice. I had the upper-deck and it was very nice and quaint for myself. 1-2 block walk to downtown area. Off-season so, was wonderful and peaceful. I'm sure it's a bit more hectic in the warmer month as I also live in a small beach town. I stayed Sat and Sunday so I don't believe I there were guests downstairs.

No noise, no issues all night, place was left clean….just called the police and said that the phone I left the message on didn’t accept messages???!! After her manifesto orientation email only listed that one number. It’s a small house in Grand Haven lady, not a penthouse apartment in New York City worth millions of dollars.
- Kym (8/5): Charming and cozy - This was a great place to stay. Really cozy and charming. I would recommend staying on the top floor if you want total quiet. The main floor has a door adjoining the 2 units and the children on the other side ,though they were lovely, were a little loud. Just the luck of the draw I guess that we had kids on the other side. Other than that though everything was really awesome.

- DAVID (10/5): - Easy to find, great communication via email from the owners. Extremely clean and comfortable, only a short walk to shopping and restaurants. The sitting room with fireplace is so cozy and welcoming! This unit only has a kitchenette, but it is fully stocked with coffee pods and tea, dishes and water. The bathroom is very large and again, extremely clean. The bed is quite comfortable. The unit is up a set of outside stairs, so perhaps not the best choice for persons with mobility issues. All in all, a gorgeous place that I would not hesitate to recommend or visit again.

- Lynn (10/5): We WILL be returning! - We had a wonderful time during our stay in the Foredeck room of the Captains Cottages. It was very clean (you cant constantly replace the entryway stained carpet due to disrespectful previous guests) The King size bed was comfortable, the large bathroom and tub were great, there was plenty of light coming in the LR and BR. The complementary coffee pods, water bottles, and breakfast bars were a pleasant surprize. Being able to drink morning coffee on the front porch even in a light rain was just what we needed. It was a short walk to the water, local bars, etc. We will be returning and hope to try another room out also. Thank you for the well needed enjoyable weekend in Grand Haven.

Confirmation code to the key box to get into room was not sent to email as stated in confirmation email. I called the number listed in email upon my arrival to the location and left a voicemail stating I didn’t receive the code to the room. I’m not sure if the code wasn’t sent because I had booked the room 15 minutes through Expedia before arriving. However, I received a speedy response as someone did call me back and provided me with directions to the lock box and code to retrieve my room key. Everything was smooth thereafter. Quick and convenient checkout as I were only to call the number listed upon checking out to let them know I was leaving and that I returned the key to the lock box. Very pleasant stay. Would consider staying again.
- Christine (10/5): Fantastic location - Fantastic location! We could see a part of the musical fountain from the deck off our suite. Truly was only a few blocks from downtown/boardwalk. We took a car to the beach, mostly because of our beach toys/chairs. The suite itself was spacious and clean. The walls are a bit thin, as we could hear the "Cackling Ladies" (as my kids called them) in the other suites. Even knowing that, I would definitely stay here again. Just be aware that others can probably hear you, if your group gets loud.

The upstairs or junior cottage was clean, everything worked, and the communication was great. Location to downtown restaurants worked well at only two blocks away. The bed was a little too hard for our liking. Otherwise everything awesome!
