- 487shayand (10/5): Great choice, you just need to walk a distance to get to hotel - Public is an amazing boutique hotel, great service, free wifi, good rooms with good views (in higher levels), good breakfast, in a good location. The only negative point is that you have to walk an almost long distance to get to hotel in the middle of istiklal street. Despit that, it is located in a good location so you have close access to Galata tower and istiklal.

- Amirabbas (10/5): - The hotel was clean, and we were given a complimentary room upgrade. Breakfast was good. The area around the hotel is full of attractions and busy streets with a lively, energetic vibe, especially for young people. The hotel design is nice, although it used to be better in the past. Parking is very difficult to find, and even taxis can only wait a few seconds for you because the area is so crowded. The staff were helpful, but their service could have been more professional.
- Athena (6/5): Quirky industrial style hotel - Arrived slightly early so accepted the wait for a room. Returning some 2 hours later and into the check-in hours, room still not ready. A further 15 minutes wait. When allocated room was informed we’d been upgraded. Nice surprise. Getting into the room - can’t understand what the upgrade was. Nice size room, but dusty and slight smell of drain. Strange set-up to the bathroom where you need to pass through the shower to get to the loo. Comfortable bed. One TV channel in English which played the same news report on a loop for the couple of days we were there, really ridiculous. The key card indicated 24/7 room service which led us to believe we could order a meal at round midnight when we came to the room. Well- surprise- there’s 4 DRINKS on room service and NO food. Complained- and response was- order from outside. What the heck! Really unacceptable/ then state you’ve got no room service! Staff at front desk were friendly, which was a saving grace. Restaurant for breakfast was cozy and nice selection on offer including great omelettes. Very busy side street on which the entrance is daily had rubbish piled high- awful to have to trudge past it to get to the door. Surely this garbage can be moved away from the area, poor reflection on Hotel The Public. So - in summary- this can ge a great little place if little changes can be made. Location is just a minute from Istiklal Street, which is awesome.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. A special shoutout to Emin, Mert, and Nihat — they truly went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness and professionalism made a big difference. The price was also very reasonable for the quality of service and location, which made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Istanbul, and I’d happily stay here again!

- Setareh1996 (10/5): The cutest hotel you can book in istanbul - I booked this hotel in my last trip to istanbul. it was about 15 minutes away to Canadian visa centre and that was my main booking reason but now I am so pleased to say that it was a great experience. The staf were very friendly and they all were fluent in english, the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good for a 4-star hotel. The location was also good, it was very close to isteklal avenue. Actually it was a little crowded around the hotel but I liked it and I enjoyed the cozy clubs and resturants nearby.

- 145alirezab (6/5): A mediocre hotel in the heart of istiklal - The public hotel is located at the center of the istiklal street in a tight alley. Hotel has a unique and interesting interior design. Rooms are situated in 2 blocks which one has the alley view and one block has the hotel backside view. The personnel were kind and helpful enough. Hotel doesn’t have the laundry service. Breakfast was ok considering the 4 star hotel. Standard double rooms were relatively small and vanity was located next to the bed outside the toilet area. Last floor (5th floor) rooms were attic roof rooms with low ceilings which can be troublesome for some. These rooms have balcony with distant view of sea. Cleanliness of the hotel was so so, our first room toilet was not clean and as we informed the receptionist, he stated that room service is not active till tomorrow! It is of note that the signs of wears and tears were visible in every corner of the room. On our second night, our rooms electrical system was jammed which resulted in a delayed room change.

What could be better was the breakfast (no pancakes) & some items were unavailable if u missed the first two hours. Also the staff welcoming u into the hotel were a bit cold. They usually said nothing & had no smile on. We got one room for three people & on first day we had a bit of a hard time fitting in as the room was small. But it was Overall a good experience. Nothing big to complain about. I recommend this hotel.

- Rachael (6/5): - PROS -Hotel is nicely decorated, they gave us a beverage upon check-in and communication was great between us and the hotel -Rooftop room was spacious and we surprisingly never hit our heads on any beams -Great location for shopping CONS -Bed was supposed to be a king, but it was not. It was bigger than a queen but it was an odd size. -Bathroom/shower area was VERY small. Could barely turn around inside the bathroom. Water leaked out from the shower into the toilet area. Detachable shower head was broken and had a leak between the handle and where the hose connected so it never worked. Smallest bathroom I've ever seen -Hotel did arrange our airport transfers but never let us know that it would need to be cash only when departing for our outbound flight the next morning. They did work with us but it would have been great to know this in advance since our transportation leaving for the airport was at 5 AM. -NOISE! Noise from the street below continued well into the night and this was on a weekday. It was mostly music from somewhere on the street (we were on the 5th floor) and it did keep me up throughout the night. -Rooftop terrace doesn't have too great of a view, but I expected that. The tiles could be cleaner out there.

The rooms were small but the cleanliness of the hotel was very good, but the service and breakfast reception was done by the management of YASIN AKDOSTU as a F/B manager as the rudest person in Istanbul, and unfortunately, despite the fact that this matter was mentioned to the hotel management twice. I did not see any change in the service and behavior of this person and he continued to be rude and rude to the hotel guests.

Because the kind and professional services provided by all its staff I do consider them “my Turkish family”. The front desk representatives are very attentive to assist the guests even without asking them for assistance or information. This beautiful hotel is centrally located near to nice restaurants and cafes, shopping, historic places, Istiklal Boulevard, Urban Restaurant just front of the hotel entrance is excellent, rooftop restaurant “360” walking distance from the hotel, Privato Café, Mustafa 1864, etc. Decoration is excellent, nicely furnished, I do love its environment and ambiance. Lovely lobby-welcome area. Spacious rooms, modern and comfortable, nice and cozy. Breakfast has many varieties. I do recommend this beautiful and excellent hotel. This is my home in Istanbul.

When the breakfast has variety why does it matter to be different between days. 2. location is great, accessibility is great to taksim and istiqlal and lovely locations by transportation sys. 3. Staff are polite, and try to do their job (I can't say they were friendly) Negative points: 1. A loud music is always beeing played by the front restaurant and the hotel lobby in the afternoon. 2. Walls are not insulated, and u can completely here next rooms' guest words! 3. My room was extremely dark, i mean with all lights on it still was dark since the walls are dark grey in color and there is no natural light ( i had to do my makeup in the bathroom to see) 4. Room had a bad design that made it feel small. There was a pillar in the middle of my room and i literally moved my bed few cm's to be able to place my suitcase somewhere! 5. All in all the place was apparently so fed up with reaching a particular type of design and decoration that they failed to pay attention to practicality and comfort. All in all for a person (specifically men) who are just looking for a place to sleep with good access it's ok. For women though there might be other more comfortable options

The location is perfect and a short walk from Taksim square. We felt very safe, and would like to extend a huge thank you to the gentlemen that work there. When we come back to Istanbul, we will be staying here again!

- Michael (2/5): - My recent stay at a purported 4-star hotel was nothing short of disappointing. I had booked a room measuring 22 sq. meters with a king-size bed, only to be assigned a significantly smaller room with a troublesome column obstructing the space. To make matters worse, the king-size bed advertised turned out to be a queen-sized one, and the hotel's explanation that this was a "mistake". Despite acknowledging their "mistake" the hotel agreed only to change the room, maintaining the queen-sized bed. Both rooms I occupied were dimly lit and fell short on cleanliness, with noticeable cobwebs in various corners. The second room presented additional issues, as it suffered from inadequate drainage in the shower, causing water to pool and making access to the toilet a soggy ordeal. The ill-fitting glass door separating the shower from the toilet exacerbated the problem, resulting in more water spilling into the toilet area. Towels provided were showing signs of wear, and bathroom storage space was lacking. Breakfast was another letdown, missing pastries and charging extra for fresh juice. In summary, this hotel failed to live up to its 4-star billing. I strongly advise considering alternative accommodations if possible. The experience was marred by false advertising, cramped and poorly maintained rooms, substandard cleanliness, and a lackluster breakfast. It was a far cry from the expected comforts of a 4-star hotel.

A good breakfast served each morning of our stay. the staff were excellent and very helpful, particularly assisting us recover a passport left in a taxi on arrival. Will definitely stay again when next in Istanbul.

- Laszlo (8/5): Nice hotel - noisy main street - The hotel is really nice and the staff is friendly but I stayed in two separate rooms, both facing the main street and you’ll need ear plugs for sleeping for the ones on the upper floors. Breakfast is delicious.

The breakfast was absolutely devine, a variety of everything to eat. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends. Delara made my stay special with an upgrade to the best room with the best view to Istiklal Street. I will definitely be back to Hotel the Public. ❤️❤️❤️

- Carlos (10/5): Great Boutique Hotel!! - It’s a great boutique hotel located next to Istiklal Street, accessible to everything. The interior design is eclectic and very cool. Very friendly and helpful personnel. The room we stayed at the rooftop have low ceilings and the bathroom was small, but might not be the case with the guest rooms on the other floors. In general, it was great staying there!!

Hotel receptionist, Berat, really went above and beyond to help me with my accommodations and getting a taxi for my next hotel. He was so very kind upon my check-in as well and gave useful advice for staying in Istanbul. Room was very cool, hotel itself was eclectic and tastefully designed, and the cappuccino in the breakfast room was one of the best I've had ever. I wanted to extend my stay, but they were fully booked unfortunately. I think the price was very reasonable and hope to stay here in future trips to Istanbul.

The breakfast was fantastic, we stayed in a superior room it was really nice -yes a little noisy but no problem fir our 3 night stay . Beirut and Osman were super helpful as were all staff To management I would like to point out that the lighting in rooms could be improved- not good for night readers . Also the shower /toilet configuration is the wrong way around! The water sits on shower floor then if u need to use the toilet you have to pass on the wet floor this is not good at all

- Yasemin (10/5): Amazing Boutique Hotel - What a wonderful hotel and staff! This hotel is located at the heart of İstiklal Street. It is at the centre of everything and all the sights. You can walk to Galata Tower, Karakőy, Eminőnů, Dolmabahce and so on. Rooms were very clean and staff was absolutely amazing. İsmail went beyind his duties and helped us to get a vehicle in front of the hotel even though the road was closed for traffic. We stayed here for our wedding and our guests also loved the hotel. I cannot find anything wrong about it.

Taxis dont like to go there after 4pm due to high pedestrian volume so will try drop you off a block away to save time for themselves but no issues getting taxis earlier in the day. Staff attentive but overcharge at every opportunity presented to them. Overall an okay experience

The hotel is very stylish and good-looking too. Great breakfast platter. Comfortable bed and beddings. Now the cons. There was no soap in the bathroom. The bathroom can’t be locked, and has frosted glass door. So not suitable for friends sharing the room. Also I booked a “superior suite”. Hotels.com website said the room would have 1 Queen and 1 single bed. But apparently the superior suites at the hotel only have 1 queen bed, not 2 beds as stated. Wish this was clearly mentioned at hotels site.

The amenities within the room from fridge to phone to coffee machine are really nice and rarely available in most hotels. The staff are very friendly. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is the fact that our taxi driver dropped us at a different point since the side roads from Taksim are hard to get to but this rule stands for everything within Taksim.

Elevators are small, but plenty large enough as I found no competition for their use. Plenty of great restaurants and sightseeing nearby. Room and bed were comfortable. The 2 days at Sultanahmet were amazing as I feel welcomed and treated as a guest than a customer. Occidental is not a bad hotel. I just don't like the room layout as the bathroom has no privacy at all and room was super small. I feel you can get a better hotel in the same price. The best thing about this hotel is its location.

The hotel has some really stunning art and decor. The rooms are small but the space well used and perfect if you book a room with a balcony. Highly recommended!

The room was clean and perfectly located on Istiklal street for shopping, a late night walk, clubbing but this make it in the middle of a very noisy district with a club that doesn't shut until early morning so if you have trouble sleeping with noise, this is definitely not a good choice for you. Otherwise the staff are helpful, the hotel is well located and rooms are fairly priced.

- PEEYUSH (6/5): VERY DIRTY AND VERY NOISY ROOMS - We were 3 Couples, stayed in best Junior Suite Category Room, for 5 nights in last week of April. Air Conditions were not working in any of the Room. Hotel should inform us before check-in. I have been all around the world but have never seen such a disgusting House Keeping. The Hotel should have been given negative marking in this. The moment we chkin (and we chkin late in evening) we found the Rooms were not clean. There were so much hairs and dirt on the floors. The towels were not clean. The Washbasin/sink was choked and was also leaking. Hotel have to call the plumber at night to stop the water leakage. As A/c were not working we have to open the windows, but nobody can sleep while the window is open as being on the main street/near clubs its very noisy and disturbing until dawn 4:00 am. If you close you will die with suffocation. So terrible nights we spent. The hot water kettle in the room is horrible design. In order to make the room Stylish they have done blunders. The Toilet smells badly in all the rooms, as its like the Toilet Seat opening directly in the Room. If you hang and also get noted it down on the reception to clean the rooms properly, then also House Keeping will not clean the Rooms. The same complaint of cleanliness is seen with other guests shouting at the reception. The only positive point is that Hotel is right on Istiklal Street but thats also turns negative that results in noisy nights. I will never recommend anyone to stay there.
