Schipp (10/5): We had a great time and would definitely stay here again! - The lake view was amazing, especially from the balcony! Staff was wonderful and helpful. The s’more’s were really fun! The pool was out of service for maintenance the first day, but the rooftop pool was really nice and warm!

Wendy (7/5): We enjoyed our time in Duluth. - Breakfast was great, and the location is amazing. The bike availability and outdoor/rooftop pool is great and much appreciated. We have stayed at the hotel for many years. I can see the wear over the years. The rooms were not as clean as they could be. Dirt/dust around the edges of the room, doors, and base of bed. I booked both rooms and intended to pay for both. However, my daughter was charged for one room and I was charged for the other. I booked one room directly and the other thru Booking.com. The later does not accept AAA discounts, so I will not use them again. I thought I had booked both thru the hotel directly.

Sandra (5/5): - The breakfast was OK, but there wasn’t very much of a variety. We liked the location. It was close to the shops and the beach. We didn’t like the room we were ion second floor. We were supposed to have a balcony, but it was right on the roof so all we could see was the roof and a little bit of the lift bridge. We couldn’t sit out there because only one person could see Very disappointing. We also went to fill up our ice bucket and there were bugs crawling around inside of it. My husband went down to the desk to get a new bucket and to explain meanwhile I went to get a glass from the round tray that also had bugs crawling around we had to put it outside of the door. There are also no towels by the pool. We asked the front desk and they said they were sorry but they had no pool towels right at the moment we asked if they had anything. They said they could give us one regular bath towel and also were very rude.

Sharon (10/5): Always a great stay - We had the perfect room. We had a king suite; the room was located at the end of the hallway so it was quite spacious. The bed was comfortable, the layout of the room was great. The breakfast was good. A great selection of food. We had a great view of the lake, and a semi city view. I would ask for this room next time we are in Duluth. The location of the hotel was perfect. It was within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. The only two negatives I would give is the cranberry juice and orange juice out of the machine tasted watered down. The other negative is it would be nice if this hotel would bring back the shuttle to Bentleyville.

Blackman (6/5): Disappointed - The breakfast area that was once so we'll tended to, clean and fresh was a mess. Not well cared for, sloppy and chaotic. That is a big part of accepting the high cost of this hotel is they once provided a delicious meal. We couldn't eat. Most things unreplenished, spilled food everywhere and no one seemed to care. We stayed at this hotel with our family annually for many, many years. We came back after taking a few years off and were heartbroken at the state of this hotel and the staffing. We will look elsewhere next time. Lack of pride in facility. Messy and lack of friendliness that once was so wonderful.

Scott (10/5): Great place to stay - Great location, right in the most scenic area of downtown Duluth, walking distance to all sorts of things. We didn't have time for all the amenities, but the ones we did, were fun, definitely a great place to stay.
Cindie (10/5): This is our annual girls weekend during deer hunting and we have been up there for over 25 years - The facility was clean and neat and especially Brandon who kept everything from breakfast to floors and tables and when we complimented him, he gave credit to his staff. Also Maddie front desk was cheerful happy Smily answered every question and took her time to greet others at the same time answering our questions.

Also, there should be someone responsible for replenishing the breakfast items when they run out. On the plus side, our lakeside balcony room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and we are thankful for that.

Dahlin (6/5): - The location was fabulous, could walk all of canal park and with boardwalk we also walked up to downtown area. Staff was pleasant and attentive. First we were placed on 3rd floor, but the elevator was jumping and would begin and fall back. Went directly back to desk and got another room on 1st floor. Went directly to room and threw are belongings in room and went out. Came back got ready for bed. Jumped in bed and one of the beds was wet and partially dried, so obviously not checked or changed from prior guests. At midnight needed to call to front desk for new linen and had to make our bed. Mattress was soaked, so put down all our towels so new linen did not get wet too.

I would say compared to the other hotels on canal park the Inn was showing it's age. And the breakfast was lacking. Plus when we were looking for an afternoon coffee it was empty.

Meg (5/5): We love the hotel but were disappointed this time - Location and room We requested housecleaning as per hotel policy but it wasn’t done. When we called about it, the response was what kind of housekeeping did we want???? He ended up bringing us some towels but there weren’t any clean glasses? And no offer to provide some when the dishes are done. This was disappointing, especially when the room was as expensive as it was - $800 plus. Also elevator out of order for 24 hours with inly one option on the opposite side of the hotel. Surprised it wasn’t serviced immediately.

Garbages outside never emptied in the 3 days we were there. For s’mores-at 8:30 people had to go and ask for more marshmallows, chocolate and crackers because the bowls were empty and there was only 8 people outside. Front desk staff friendly but never really saw any staff other than cleaners in the hall.

I went to the front desk to ask what they could do and they gave me some room spray to use. Went to the front desk on day 3 asking for room service. No one ever came. Our main complaint is that the bedspread was so worn that you could slide your fingers between the layers of fabric. It was visibly falling apart. It appeared very clean but definitely needs replacing No meat at breakfast, but there were a lot of options.

The breakfast dining room and outdoor patio were an abomination- dirty tables inside, the water jug constantly empty, zombie-like crew could not have shown less interest in their job. Outside the patio needs resurfacing as the cheap plastic tables all waddle and are unstable.

David (8/5): It was a memorable weekend and we really enjoyed the convenience of staying in the Canal Park area with all of the avail - The location was excellent and had a great view of the lake from our room. The rooms are starting to show some wear and tear. The caulking around the shower is yellowing and a guide bracket for the shower door fell off.

I discovered this when I found a pin beginning to poke through the sheets where my face had just been. The patio furniture has been replaced since our last stay and that was nice, however, the mattresses weren't very soft anymore and a bit lumpy in spots. The AC was mediocre for a weekend with heat warnings and temps in the 90s. The building itself felt like it could use more air flow and my rooms AC unit was on 63 and still didnt feel like it was "too cold". Check in staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Really nice shower facilities. The views are just as great as we remember but we did miss the live weekend music outside. Conveniently located but a bit overpriced for how outdated it's become.

Amanda (6/5): Awesome location, clean beds, friendly, BUT… - Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean, but the hotel was a little more dated than I expected. Breakfast was pretty standard. They have s’mores supplies every night, which was fun, but the baskets/napkins where they kept the supplies (the ingredients) looked dirty and looked like the napkins hadn’t been changed for days.
Thomas (6/5): Great balcony view but.... - We were looking for a room with a balcony/view of Lake Superior and got it. Small but had nice polywood chairs with small attached table between. Spent a good amount of time there reading, watching ships & boats on the lake, and watching people on the Lake Walk below. However, the rooms are very outdated and worn. The sofa had a slash across the back and was frayed everywhere. One mattress was definitely old and uncomfortable. The elevator made very loud bands and vibrations as it kicked in (there are 3 floors). The staff were friendly and good people.

The hotel was very clean, with the exception of these things in my room: the drapes had stains and food on them, the upholstered chairs had stains and food on and in them, and the top surface of the dresser had a sticky substance spilled all over it. Other than those issues I had a great stay and no other complaints about the property. The beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom and shower were fantastic. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.
