Guest Reviews
- Ann (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant - It was in a good location for the event we were attending, the room was clean, it had tea and coffee facilities The mattress was very soft, which wasn’t good for my back. The room was very warm even with the radiator turned off, the decor was very dated, the room definitely could do with an update as could the hotel in general
- Pinn (10/5): A Lovely Experience - Room nice view ,very clean and had everything in it to cover short stay 100% recommend. Woman on reception went extra mile in helping out on several things. Not much more I can say covered all good aspects above.
- Williams (6/5): Pleasant -
- Duane (7/5): Done the job -
- Edward (10/5): Wonderful setting in a magnificent harbour. Lovely pier walk and a town heritage walk - Didn’t have an opportunity to avail
Of breakfast due to other plans We had no issues. Everyone was very pleasant
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Harry (9/5): Staff were very accommodating to arrange earlier pick up of key - Good location to train station
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Local to town, comfortable bed & clean room - It was clean & comfortable No ales in the bar!
- Jeffrey (7/5): Good - Staff very helpful I couldn't make the TV work BUT that could of been user error and I wasn't that bothered so didn't let anyone know. Did not impact my stay.
- Rita (7/5): Good -
- Jon (8/5): Exactly as required in right location - Exact location needed. No food, but there are plenty of places in town
- Blessing (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (1/5): Bad -
- Ruth (6/5): Pleasant -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wimolrat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (8/5): Good, clean and adiquate parking - Night out Nothing to dislike
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Great Location, Great Value, Great Bar, Great Staff Comfy Bed, Clean Room, Great Hot Shower, Safe, Fridge Iron and Ironing Board As Well, Excellent
I Saw Reviews Re Room Being Too Hot, Which It Was When I Arrived, So I Used The Old Method and Opened The Room Window and Quickly No Issues Advertised Bar Food, On Arrival Lovely Staff Informed Me Now No Bar Food Available On Evenings
Which is A Big Shame As It Would Have Topped Off My Stay To Have Remained in The Clarendon For My Evening Meal. Pleanty Of Places to Eat At Within 200 - 40 yards
- Paul (7/5): Good - Great location on the riverfront. Free parking, room ok for the price..
Always stay when I’m working in the area
- Stevens (8/5): We weren’t sure what to expect from a ‘community’ but it was ideal for our needs. - Very friendly staff and comfy room. Slept really well. Breakfast extra but good quality and choice. Room looked onto the road but only had a heavy curtain. A blind or voile would be good for privacy.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Welcoming and characterful hotel and location. Nothing.
- Ruth (9/5): I enjoyed my stay, I loved the environment. -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kristian (7/5): Happy with stay, unhappy to have to deal with car parking appeal procedures when it’s the hotels procedure that failed. - Warm and clean.
Watch out for car park opposite. I inputed details on screen in reception, didn’t over stay the 24 hour time period and still got a £100 parking ticket. Asked hotel to help remove the fine and they said I had to appeal and explain the system wasn’t working. I think the hotel should take on the responsibility of sorting the guests car parking tickets out when it’s their system that has failed.
- Jasmine (10/5): A lovely hotel with lovely views - staff very friendly and helpful, little bar on site very nice. nothing
- Peter (9/5): Superb - The reception very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very tasty and worth the money . N/A
- Emma (8/5): Great weekend for our Gravesend stay, would recommend - Location was fantastic. Free Parking provided. Good value for money.
Bar/restaurant staff were fantastic Receptionist not fully knowledgable when asking questions regarding breakfast. Not the best front of house experience. No vanity mirror in our room, 1 pillow was extremely lumpy but luckily had 2 per person so didn’t affect my sleep.
On Saturday due to an afternoon tea booking cocktails weren’t available when we would have happily bought several per person as they were great value.
- Bremang (2/5): Very poor -
- Sararoger (10/5): Simple the best - The staff was very friendly always on hand to help and made sure we had everything we needed. Town is only a 5 minutes walk and you had everything there from shops to restaurant and pubs. The blinds let in a bit of light in the morning so possibly could do with a curtain up apart from that everything was perfect 👌
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Food was amazing staff extremely helpful and friendly
- Cerrys (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were welcoming and we had a good rapport with them. Location was good, close to families/friends, amenities, and train station. The room/bathroom were clean, facilities are good, tea, coffee and milk provided, as well as fridge, iron and ironing board, spacious wardrobe, bed side table and lamps. Didn't have a good view of the Riverside.
- Markie (9/5): Nice hotel great staff and excellent location - Did not have Every thing was fine. No problems
- Niveditha (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (6/5): Ok - The breakfast was fine My initial room was very overheating
- Ayere (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (7/5): Good - Location was handy. Very well made cooked breakfast, even if a touch expensive. The room was small and no view.
I had to go and find staff for the breakfast, but the breakfast was very good. No cereal on offer through.
- Samuel (9/5): Superb -
- David (7/5): The location & hotel was ideal for my short work visit. - I like these comfortable older buildings.. it was a friendly place, very quiet during my visit. TV had issues poor aerial signals - so intermittent operation on some channels.
Plumbing issues.. toilet fill up valve not stopping so constant noise of water in the cistern.
Noisey bathroom fan.. needs attention.
- Pavel (8/5): Very good - Very quiet place with a friendly staff.
- Stuart (7/5): Convivial - Good location, very friendly staff. Size of rooms
- Steve (8/5): Very good - Great location and friendly staff Bathroom could do with upgrading
- Bill (9/5): Great place to stay with friendly helpful staff. - Great location Bit smaller than we expected
- Anne (1/5): Terrible - left soon as we woke - Location was fine for what we needed Our room smelled really badly of drains - was incredibly small- shower didn’t work- carpet was filthy- not sure if I would ever book with you again if you think it’s ok to book us into a place like that- I actually feel you should refund us for booking us into such a awful place
- Karenza (5/5): Passable - Car park is free Vey hot rooms
- Karenza (6/5): Pleasant - Good location Dated, lift out of order
- David (10/5): Excellent overnight stay. - Did not have time for breakfast so cannot comment.
Handy private car park opposite hotel.
Loved old photo of passing liner in room.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Everything
- Kevin (7/5): Good -
- Ian (9/5): Great location with a very friendly service and the breakfast was excellent - Location and staff Room a little small
- Carol (7/5): Room fitted requirements except TV - Friendly staff, room just what was required for my trip Room temperature very warm.
Tv reception very poor, have stayed in two different rooms within a month and the tv reception was very poor both times very lucky to be able to watch a whole programme even the news
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional - Really pleasant place to stay! Bed was super comfy!
The front desk staff was amazing, so kind and lovely. I would recommend staying here for sure.
- Jacqueline (7/5): Excellent location met our needs good bar area - Not applicable Booked a standard double but the room was rather small. Not even a chair to sit on or put things on
- Steel (10/5): Exceptional - The staff couldn't do enough for me. Very friendly and welcoming. Food was not bad.
The hotel was very clean and my room was comfortable the bed excellent!! I didn't like the food that much as I am a fussy eater.
My room was too hot.
- Maria (9/5): Great - The room was clean and the staff were friendly The room was more than a little warm but we opened the window to cool down
- Gareth (7/5): Exceeded expectations. Thank you - Freindly staff. Great breakfast Toilet cistern in Room 101 really interesting. Unusual, stop/start fill mechanism.
- Alison (8/5): Very good - Great location for what we needed and friendly staff on reception.
- Carley (5/5): Passable -
- John (8/5): Clarendon Royal Hotel - Location near town centre. Had a pleasant bath when I really wanted a quick shower.
Tap did not have a switch to operate the shower.
- Sararoger (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was very friendly, helpful and looked after us very well Nothing everything was perfect
- Christine (8/5): It was clean @ comfortable. - Convenient for location, easy to park the car. Comfy bed, clean and everything we needed. It was a bit too warm for me & I couldn’t open the window. I would have also liked a window that I could look out of to see what the weather was doing. Room 201 the window is not see through.
I am also only 5’2 & I think the person that put up the bathroom mirror must have been 6ft as it was far too high for me, however it didn’t ruin my stay.😊
- Thfc (8/5): Visit home - Facilities & location Very hot in room
Couldn't hang Do not Disturb sign on door
- Gavin (9/5): A wonderful stay. - It’s in a lovely location, it was quiet and peaceful walking distance to the town. The staff were brilliant and front desk were very welcoming.
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Campbell (5/5): A night to remember - Comfortable bed good shower. The rooms are a little outdated with paper thin walls. The noise from the flushing of the toilet is loud and endless much like the noise from the street below. Insure you let reception know you are parked in the hotel car park (they won't ask you) or you will get the joy of a £60 parking ticket.
- Samantha (6/5): Pleasant - Central to the bus and train station. Room was not cleaned bathroom and bath was dirty, window didn’t open and door didn’t lock. Rooms extremely hard to find. Lift not working had to search around for a working one as there was no signage
- Kosta (3/5): Nice location but poor hotel. - Great location and great receptionist. The bed was very old and very uncomfortable. Same for the pillows. Room was tiny. Poor wi-fi.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb - The shower was absolutely wonderful
Powerful, even temperature
One of the best showers we've had in a hotel
The staff at reception were lovely and friendly and helpful
- Clare (5/5): Passable - Location was ideal for our needs Breakfast wasn't good. The scrambled eggs were inedible
- Guy (3/5): Dropped the ball on my reservation - Once I eventually got checked in the hotel was fine. I arrived shortly before 8pm but there was nobody manning the front desk. I sat in reception for two hours waiting. Eventually the bar staff was able to get me a room. Apparently the receptionist did not show up for work that day and the temporary fill in left at 6pm with no provision for my pending arrival and no attempt to communicate with me.
- Agnieszka (7/5): Great location - Good location None
- Gordon (7/5): Good -
- Jo (9/5): Great hotel in a great location! - Great room, great location and staff were friendly and helpful Dressing table in the room was suffering from wear and tear and no hairdryer in the room.
- Samantha (5/5): Average but not worth the price. - The room was clean. There was a fridge and a fan. The main room light did not work, the tv also did not work. there was no one at the desk to check me in and I had to wait for some time. I was in a rush to change for an event and waiting 20 mins was not what I expected.
- Isabelle (5/5): Clean convenient hostel. Beware of small hot rooms so avoid in hot weather - Excellent location for trips leaving from the Town Pier Room was very basic more like student hostel than a “hotel”. Luckily small window opened and large free standing fan or would have been too hot in October. Small double bed. Shower over bath didn’t work (but bath clean and good water pressure). This did not feel like an “hotel” with no one on reception and just a door code in evenings and mornings. Very limited availability of food I.e. bar closed and no room service that would be on offer in a proper hotel. Mixed selection of wire and plastic coat hangers in wardrobe and sadly guests steal hairdryers so have to be borrowed from reception.
- Myra (8/5): Very good -
- Sarabjeet (8/5): A Great Place - A great place. Traditional bed and breakfast. Great comfortable bed. Very clean. Powerful showers and clean bedrooms. Puns nearly that serve great hot food and good value for money and booze. They need to make clear the door entry at night. The code was provided on a complimentary slip, to which no reference was made. Hence I did not pay any attention. Was lucky that other guess managed to let me back in. Simple to rectify, they just need to emphasise it to the clients and ensure the clients take a picture of the compliment slip só they remember.
- Ravraj (1/5): Bad -
- Carmelo (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - clean, lovely room, nice staff toilet was a bit noisy!
- Wimolrat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maiwenn (7/5): Good -
- Travel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Miriam (8/5): Very good - Pleasant location on the river and easy walking distance to the centre of town. Even though it was late September the hotel was uncomfortably warm. Fortunately there was a fan in my room.
- Oliver (5/5): Passable - Good location, staff friendly. Rooms incredibly hot, too hot to function. Required multiple fans to sleep
- Carol (8/5): Very good -
- Denise (7/5): Good location, clean but too hot - Location, close to town. Clean. Friendly reception it. The heat. We have had a few stays here and doesn’t matter if summer or winter the heating is on. The window only opens slightly and not much air. Not only is this unbearable but must be costing the hotel a fortune. They don’t seem to have taken any notice of the previous comments to turn down the temperature 🥵
The room was small, no hair dryer and need to ask at reception. Ok for a 1 night stay
- Liz (3/5): Whole place needs updating - Waterside location Very dated. Tiny, very hot room. Massive fridge in wardrobe so couldn’t hang anything up. Bathroom paint peeling and mastic coming away. All just a bit dilapidated.
- Claire (1/5): A dreadful hotel, I would not recommend it to anyone. - The room was very hot even though I had two fans on, no wardrobe space as there was an old fridge in it. There was a car park outside my window which was flood lit all night so it lit up my room, I couldn’t get any sleep. In the bathroom there were two used bars of soap. When I called reception to see if I could change my room, the lady replied I’m a carer I’m not able to help you, I asked if there were any hotel staff on duty and she replied no. Breakfast was advertised starting at 08:00 on a Sunday, at 09:00 there was no staff and the bar area where the breakfast is served was still locked. This is the worst hotel I have ever been to and there was no one on reception when I left to discuss my awful experience.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - Very impressed with the facilities. Clean, comfortable with fridge microwave iron. The rooms were much better than the interior design of the hotel would suggest. Maybe a little understaffed.Would definitely stay there again. Understaffed. The reception area was disappointing but the actual bedrooms were well decorated & very clean. Never ate there but so close to town where there were lots of choices for meals
- Roger (7/5): Good - Good location near the river and town centre. Free parking on site. Pleasant staff. Small dark room with no outlook. No evening meal option on site.
- Tom (7/5): Great price, comfy bed, good shower. What more do you want. - Location was good. I always use the Clarendon when I come to Gravesend, very handy. Rooms are a bit small.
- Colin (6/5): An okay option - If you need to stay in a hotel in Gravesend I am sure this is the best place on offer, and location of hotel is good and it is good value for money my bed was very soft and felt a bit old and worn out (much like myself) and the TV didn't work very well as kept losing signal,
- Vito (5/5): Passable - The cleaning was done only once during the all staying that was of 6 days
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Denise (9/5): Lovely clean hotel with great staff - Super clean lovely old building and the most friendly helpful staff they are a credit to the hotel As I’m sure you have heard before the heat was very difficult the fans in the room helped , the hotel bar was closed by 7 on Friday & Saturday, it would have been nice to have had it til at least 10.
And the introduction of twin beds 🙏🏻
