Jonna (9/5): Pricey but great! - The resort was clean and felt very safe. The room was large, the decor was fresh, and the bed was comfortable. My adult travelers loved the pool/lazy river! (Everything is a little easier without kiddos.) Most importantly, staying at the casino provides the option to indulge in all the adult fun offered at the resort without having to drive to a separate hotel. The drinks at the bar across from the hotel registration desk were amazing! Everything was a bit pricey in the resort, and I mean everything. The pool hours were a bit short, but they did not lock you out of the pool area. However, we stayed on a Thursday, so the weekend could be different. Also, the staff was wonderful - hotel and casino. Southern charm and hospitality was definitely on display and working in everyone's favor.

Jesse (3/5): - Pool stayed open late We arrived at 4:30pm. It clearly says on their website check-in is at 4. Our room wasn't ready. They said maybe not till 8pm. We decided to go back to the bell service to change to go to the pool. They didn't let us in the pool without a room #. So we went back to the front desk, they downgraded our room. Supposedly they gave us a $50 credit. We went back to the pool, now they didn't let us in without an id. So we had to go back to bell service to get our id. In between of all this running around, I lost a pair of $600 Gucci sunglasses. Then we finally got into the pool, went to buy a drink. They didn't take tap. They need the actual card. Smh!!! So we didn't drink. Then we went to Cadillac Bar for dinner. Worst food I've ever eaten. No flavor and cold. The service was good tho. Tried to use my $50 credit. I was supposed to pay only $8.18 with a $10 tip. They charged my card 3 times. This was on Friday 4/3. Still trying to get my refund back almost a week later. Never staying at the Golden Nugget ever again.

dlean2024 (10/5): Golden Nugget Restaurants amazing - We love staying at the Nugget in Lake Charles. The service there is great as is the food. This time we ate at Lillies for the first time. We ordered the firecracker shrimp from the small plates menu and it was anything but small. A very generous and delicious plate of at least 20 or so shrimp was served. We had also ordered the chicken and vegetables fried rice which was also plenty and delicious. Our server Alexis did a great job getting our special order just right and then helped us pack up the leftovers. Our experience at Bobs Burgers was also great. Piper was our server and she and her manager were right on top of things. And the sliders were perfectly cooked and delicious! Thank you Nugget!

703andyo (4/5): Mr. Fertitta Would Not Be Pleased - The whole place is in need of a serious cleaning. The mirrors in the Claim Jumper restaurant were filthy, and the reflections made everything else seem unclean. We were excited to be upgraded to a Penthouse room, until we found that there was very little hot water in the shower, and with a big tub in the middle of the room, the shower seemed smaller than a regular room. Also, on a 2-night stay, no maid service, so no replenishing of the bottled water. While not a big deal, it is not what you would expect for a Penthouse room. With only the two steakhouses open on a weeknight, we did have an excellent meal out at Pat's of Henderson. On a positive note, the staff at GNLC are always excellent.

DonnaStansburyY (10/5): Highly Recommend - This hotel is top notch. The golf course was fantastic. Lots of wildlife, watch out for the alligators. The don't bother you and are very cool to see. We enjoyed our stay and have been several times. I plan on taking my Grandkids there for a short stay to play in the amazing pool. We left several items in the room and the lost and found staff at the hotel were very helpful. They went to the room, found our items and held them until we could pick them up, but they also offered to mail them to us. They were so very nice and checked with me for an exact pick-up date and the items were at the front desk as promised. After I picked up the items, they followed up with me to ensure I got everything that I was looking for. PERFECTION ! Highly recommend this place for a cool vacation. We will be going back.

I contacted the Golden Nugget and the friendly staff could not have been nicer or more responsive. I followed their instructions and my tablet was returned to me by FedEx. I accidentally left behind a very sentimental item, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure it was safely returned to me. A very special thank you to Essie Chambers in Housekeeping for her kindness, diligence, and care. She treated my situation with compassion and urgency, and her efforts meant more to me than words can express. It’s rare to encounter someone who takes such personal pride in helping guests, and she is a true asset to the hotel.
Z4588LIjamied (2/5): Worst Experience Ever - Horrible experience with staff - we were on 15th floor and the fire alarm went off instructing us to use the stairwell. My 83 yo father walked down 15 flights of stairs. When he got to the bottom, he tripped and fell causing him to scrape and bruise his face up. Turns out the fire alarm was a false alarm, however there was NO hotel personnel anywhere to be found to help with my dad. When he finally was able to get off the floor, we went to the front desk and no one was there, music was playing on speakers, as if no one even knew the alarm went off. We got back to room to put ice and called the front desk 3 times and no one answered. My mom finally was able to go down and talk to the front desk. She filled out an incident report, sent an escalated email to Risk Management and it has now been 72 hours with ZERO response. Unbelievable that a hotel of this size would ignore something so serious. What were the fire alarm protocols for guests? Why was no one around to tell guests it was false? Why hasn’t anyone followed up with our report? You should be ashamed of your staff for ignoring this. update on 2/10/26 - it has now officially been 5 days since this happened and after multiple attempts to contact someone at the hotel, this review, etc., we still have NOT heard ANYTHING back. each time we call/email the hotel, it is ignored. my mom has spoken with Shay at the front desk and emailed her and she continues to say she is in touch with Risk Management. NOTHING back. update on 2/25/26 - going on week 3 and i would suggest no one ever stay at this hotel regardless of your situation. they have no idea how to treat customers and communicate when an issue arises. we have had to reach out to them for a status on multiple occasions. the last one we received they offered a one night complimentary stay in hopes we would go away.....i'd be embarrassed if i were in management at the golden nugget with how this has been handled.

The reason given I don't believe to be true. The manger had to clear my reservation with my email code given by booking. Com. The bed was worn down, sunken in. No refrigerator in room. Cost of rooms is not worth the amenities or service. Front desk people have no clue of what amenities are available or when they might be available. They solely seem concerned about having you live in the casino while there. They advertise alit of amenities that don’t seem to even be available.

Enjoyed the food and casino. - Excellent, friendly and courteous service provided by the maids, valet (Bell desk) and restaurants (Claim Jumpers & Landry's staff members. The food was delicious and large portions at both places. Lake view room was beautiful especially at night. Disappointed with the room size. Mattress sinked in the middle of the bed (so uncomfortable). No microwave to heat up cold coffee or food. Paid extra for a refrigerator. There was heavy dust around the bathtub, bathroom light fixtures, Kleenex holder, telephone, and both nightstands. The toilet handle had to be jiggled to stop making water noises. The waters took a long time getting hot. The balcony was dirty from top to bottom and lots of spider webs. Room needs two luggage holders to accommodate two occupants.

We had a company meeting there in the board room and the service was great, drinks were good and the food was good. golf Course was in good condition. Rooms needed up grading. We had 3-rooms total, in 1- of the rooms the shower was either all Hot or All cold. We ran out of toilet paper in one room, same room the Coffee maker did not work, it was missing a part. Bed was sub-par.

The lazy river is a favorite, and so is the beach. To be in Louisiana, I did expect to be able to buy or have local cuisine on premises. Children were running wild at the lazy river, & pool. Not being able to use my room number to purchase drinks at the pool. There were a few people walking around fully dressed and looking like hoodlums. This is my third time coming, but it’s the first time that I felt the place wasn’t as exclusive as I initially did.
