Guest Reviews
- Toby (2/5): - The place is a dump. I checked in, when to the room, walked out and left. I didnt stay there. I didnt even ask for a refund. It looked like those people need the money more than i did. There were no lights on anywhere other than Christmas lights in the lobby. Several broke down cars in the parking lot. Trash in the room.
- Jimmy (10/5): - Very friendly
- Rickey L (10/5): - Clean
- Ray (8/5): - Parking was great,! Almost like staying with Family!!
- Tammy (10/5): - Older property but safe and affordable. Super friendly staff.
- Rob (4/5): - Run down. Have folks living in rooms. Sheets were super old and dirty.
- Kayla (2/5): - Horrible
- Albert (4/5): Unacceptable - Room looked to be up to par, the tv took some figuring out and the bed frames are loud. Upon pulling back sheets and blankets we found a bed bug in the blankets and on the bed.
- Sharon (6/5): - It was it was right for the price
- Teresa (2/5): - It was not at all like the website or what hotel.com advertised. No restaurant on site the building were falling apart. Mold in bathroom ceiling.the whole place looks like abandoned building.it smelled musty like a old basement. I booked this by the wonderful looks on hotel.com/website what a joke.i am very unhappy.they should have paid me to stay there. I will not use hotel.com again they must not check there properties before they show them on there website.
Hated my stay and I will not recommend this place it my worst enemy.
- Johnny (10/5): - Very Serene
- Larry (4/5): Ken bar Lodge gilbertsville Kentucky - The facility was very dated not very clean and the staff was unfriendly when you could find them
- Larry (4/5): Ken-bar lodge gilbertsville Kentucky - The hotel was extremely dated cleanliness was at a bare minimum the staff was rude if you were even able to find them. I have stayed in a lot of cheap hotels but by far in my opinion this had to be the worst.
- Lola (8/5): - It was gd
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The online pics are misleading. It is really run down. We ended up not staying after seeing and smelling the rooms. There is no front desk - you have to call a number on the sign and someone comes out to the parking lot to meet you.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I didn't like anything about the hotel my room was dirty no phone in the room and it smelled awfully bad
- DannyH1771 (2/5): Horrible - Strongly suggest not staying here. The crowd that gathers here is lower class. Pricing is high with no amenities. It's bug infested and some of the staff is just plan rude. Very slow to correcting items that need to be repaired. It's run down and unless you like that type of environment, I suggest staying elsewhere.
- Karendray77 (10/5): Good service - The room I stayed in was nice and clean. The housekeeper was friendly and made sure I was kept in clean towels and washcloths. The owners were friendly and made me feel welcome and answered questions about area attractions.Convienient, right by the lake.
- Diggerdoll (10/5): A place to take you back in time!!!!! - A good place to go to relax. friendly staff, a great place to listen to music with live bands. Takes you back to the 60s and 70s era a bit. Great food and atmosphere. Needs some work a bit run down. The rooms have two doors. One from the hall and then one which goes out to the balcony which goes across to all rooms. Kinda neat. Sure it was a hopping place days ago. Clean and Neat
- JanetD1799 (10/5): Owners Treat you like family - To all the Ken-Bar Owners and Employees, It was a interesting summer. But it is always nice to stay here with all the nice staff and Owners that treat us always like family. Thanks for all your sweetness and kindness. Sandy you are the best! We will see ya'll probably in a year or soTake care and God Bless each and everyone!! :) Love Donita,Bill and Dixie
- Larry (6/5): - It's a convenient place to stay that is close to food and boat ramps. I remember this place was really nice when I was young. It's old and run down now but for $55/Night it'll work just fine.
- W.W. (2/5): Keep Driving! - Although the Expedia site has early pictures of the Ken-Bar Lodge before part of it burned down and the rest was allowed to deteriorate into something I would expect to find in a third world country, this place is a real eyesore both inside and out. I had to prop a steel chair against the front door of the room because the dead bolt was broken.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean staff was very nice. Plenty of boat parking.
- ewa (8/5): Convenient for total solaris - It was excellent , very convenient to visit the land inbetween lakes
- 633kil (8/5): Cade Raid 2016 Experience - We have a international motorcycle rally every two years with our group of Suzuki Cavalcade owners during the middle of September 2016. This was my first time in the Land Between the Lakes area and it was a good are to ride bikes. When I first arrived at Ken Bar Lodge I was wondering if we picked the right place since it didn't look like a place we normally stay. It looked like an older place that needs a little TLC. Check in was you had to call or find the manager on a Sunday afternoon but after a few minutes somebody pointed Tracy out to me. She checked me in and explained everything. The room had a comfortable bed and room overall was needing some care but it was a good place to sleep and take a shower since I don't spend much time in the room. AC worked very good and had a TV and refrigerator. I think it had a microwave oven and coffee maker but not sure 100% on this. During the week you could start to see the care that the staff was giving us and trying to accommodate us and our group. They opened the restaurant for us in the morning for breakfast and it was adequate and I never ate dinner there. Don't go here expecting a 5 star hotel but a good place to base out of for this area with nice friend people that will do whatever they can to make your stay better. It feels more like a mom and pop place.
- edsJ3971GS (10/5): Wonderful experience!! - We had a week long motorcycle rally at KenBar, and the experience was AWESOME.
The Suzuki Cavalcade owner's group has held many rallies throughout the country over the years, with members from all over the US and Canada coming. We've stayed at some really nice places too.
The entire staff at Ken Bar was by far the best yet - only place we've gotten on first name basis with them!!
Yes, the building itself has some rough edges, but they are working to revitalize it. It's huge, so this is understandably a slow process, especially for an American owner trying to do it honestly.
Rooms are clean, as are the meeting rooms and restaurant/ bar. Food is very good & reasonably priced. Quickly responsive to special requests and needs.
Spacious level parking lot. Camping & cabins next door, different owners.
The staff is their biggest asset. Joe, Janet, Tracy, Nanette, Chassity, and everyone - what can I say, you're great folks & went far above to make our visit fantastic!!!
- amcaldwell26 (8/5): Pleasantly Surprised - This lodge is NOT for folks who will be upset by details. It's an unusual place, but so friendly and welcoming. Definitely old and a bit worn down, but staff is working to make improvements. I stayed for a week while looking for housing, and was put in rooms near the long-term lodgers. They were very friendly and made me feel as if I had close neighbors.
- ToniaN42 (10/5): Old Hotel still rocking! - The building has been there as long as I have been alive! The current owners have improved the place a little over the last 12 years. I have spent long term in rooms and single night stays. Yes its an old building but I recommend this place to everyone. The staff is friendly, the long term people are very nice, and the restaurant is fantastic! I'm sure many more improvements are in the works.
- 962tiffanir (10/5): Loved My Stay - The employees and managers that I dealt with during my stay couldn't have been more hospitable! My room was clean, smelled fresh, clean linens and towels, everything was just clean! Even the folks that have extended arrangements were courteous. There is a new restaurant, bar, and dance floor! We enjoyed the Karaoke the first night (some impressive locals) and the live music on the second night! I highly recommend this place for an enjoyable stay close to the lake!
- NeilfromDayton (4/5): Amazingly Hopeless - This place gets 2 stars because the American owners are trying to make it nice. I was on a cross country motorcycle trip with friends and stayed here one night. The good points are that if you are a boater it is close to the lake, pets are welcome, and the price is low. There are flowers growing and bird feeders hanging about, but the fact is that this old place is on its last legs. Don't stay if you are the least bit fussy about details. It provides a low priced sleep and not much more.
- Hardtoplease84 (2/5): Don't even try - This hotel is Horrible don't even attempt to stop here just keep on moving down the line. Between the trash out side and the poor signage on property I was completely appalled.the rooms that saw needed serious attention. All and all we found a very nice hotel right down the street.
