Guest Reviews
- Christopher (2/5): - When I arrived to check in they gave me a room I didn’t book. When I asked to get the room I booked they asked me why I needed so much space. Odd.
The morning after my check in people allegedly working for the hotel (this is what they said when questioned) were banging on trash like old refrigerators and other junk right outside the window at 7am.
Later on that day management tried to enter the room while occupied and I was naked.
This is an unsafe place for any minority I was targeted along with my partner for harassment
These people are mean and disgusting humans.
- Mário (10/5): - Very good
- Amelia (10/5): - Our stay was really great, we were skeptic at first but surprised at how clean and nice the rooms were compared to reviews!
Cleaning services were very helpful when we needed more towels and very nice about when we were in during cleaning sweep.
Overall great customer service, great location!
- Anatoliy (8/5): - good size room
- Sundeep (10/5): - Very well located, close to Hollywood Ave. Just walk for 2 min.
- Katrina (8/5): - My family were able to rest for the night, thank you.
- Joshua (2/5): - Room smelled like smoke, air conditioning smelled of a strong urine scent, main window didn’t have sufficient blind coverage, bathroom window didn’t have a working screen, the floors in the main room were dirty/stained, and the counters were sticky with residue. Checked out after about 15 minutes. The overall atmosphere of the property is sketchy with no redeeming qualities.
- Maurice (6/5): Close to everything a little old. - Great location fair price old building worked out fine. I would stay there again..
- Carley (10/5): - thank you
- galina (6/5): - Good location
Poor condition of property
- Joylani (8/5): - The kocation is accessabke to hollywood walk of fame’ my husband and I felt safe and accomodated.. Thank you..
- Peter (8/5): - Roomy.
- Kevin (2/5): - The room smelled like cigarets, the AC and half the lights didn't work, and after I killed the third cockroach I left to sleep in my car.
- James (2/5): - The man who checked me in was OUTRAGEOUSLY MEAN AND UNNECESSARILY RUDE to me upon check-in ... He made me feel TOTALLY UNWELCOME and that he didn't want me there -- There is a very small cash deposit due upon check-in and I apologized and told him that I had stayed here a few months ago, and I forgot about that, as it is the ONLY hotel that I've stayed at in the US and Europe and South America that requires a CASH deposit --NOT CREDIT CARD -- He got SUPER ANGRY AT ME!!! He shouted at me "If you stayed here a long time ago or short time ago you should know!!!" -- My mouth dropped to the floor!! -- I couldn't believe it -- I asked him if I could check-in and then return in 20 minutes with the cash -- he said yes.
The room was nice, clean -- but his unnecessary meanness to me (I'm almost 60 years of age) a COMPLETE STRANGER and a customer who had just paid to stay there for 5 nights has officially made me not EVER EVER EVER want to do business with Hollywood La Brea Inn EVER again. LOTS of other hotels in Hollywood! Thank you -- Rick Worthy, Actor & Producer ("The Magicians" - NBC/Syfy Network )
- Orvin (8/5): - was a reliable hotel stay with great location within walking distance to the walk of fame, free parking, rooms were satisfactory for the price, spacious and had a fridge inside. Only downer was the noise. the walls are thin you can hear you neighbor or people out in the hallway balcony. Other than that the hotel was good stay.
- NORBERTO (2/5): - Terrible plaxe
- Aman Kumar (6/5): - Very old need renovation
- Leanna (10/5): - The location was very convenient to walk to Hollywood. There wasn't anything I didn't like. It was a nice hotel.
- Lauren (8/5): - Slightly seedy, slightly rickety, but clean and close to Hollywood attractions.
- KARTIK (6/5): - The person at the reception was not that friendly and did not understand English, they were not very patient with the check in. The room was okay for the price.
- Evangelos (4/5): - The shower is so super dangerous. It’s super slippery throughout the entire bathroom and water puddles in the middle of the room for the handicap room 103.
- John (8/5): - The staff was not very assisting or friendly. Also, the Televison reception was not very good, I could not hear the audio on a lot of the channels.
- Steven (10/5): - Just what I needed for this trip.
- Steven (6/5): - Too many homeless hanging around nearby.
- Dominic (6/5): - Management seems a little shouty. It's Hollywood, kinda seedy - so no real shocks. $20 cash deposit for key required.
- Rahul (2/5): - Staff was very rude, he doesn’t know how to talk to customers, felt like I was his servant. Room was horrible, water flow is slow, AC wasn’t working properly, bathroom lock was not working, room was not clean.. overall worst hotel ever I have ever stayed in my entire life.
- Steven (10/5): - The staff is wonderful and accommodating. Location is great for where I need to be when I’m in town. Clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good not expensive alternative to anything else. - It;s not Hilton for sure, it is ancient motel style place. But it is the best in its price category. It is safe, has free parking and stays literally on the Walk of Fame. It is kept well, not filthy I haven't seen any roaches or stuff like that. No noise at night, liquor store is at the gate :-). If you are not able to spend too much money it will be good for you. Otherwise, go to Loews Hollywood and stop writing bad reviews about this place. :-))
- MARC (2/5): Stay at ur own risk - During checkin it seemed as the guy was having a bad day. He was upset about something and demanding payment without explaining what it was for. When asked if he was ok he shouted back that he was fun and if I was ok and I have to pay at that moment for what I did not know. Someone from the back came out and they talked in their native language and that seemed to clam the guy down as his tone had changed with me and finally got an explanation on why I had to put money down for a deposit for the key card and remote control. Room was nice size but dirty floors, strands of long hair here and there, bathroom shower trickled water, bed was hard, walls very thin and you could hear things happening all around. TV mostly had blue screen as satellite. This didn’t pick up channels so it was worthless to have a remote control. Last day u can hear a tenant having words with the front desk in the parking lot a disagreement of some sort.
- Jeff (8/5): - Was in town for a couple days with my brother and the stay there at the Hollywood La Brea was really good. Room was clean, service was good. Everything they said online was accurate and I would stay there again.
- Martin (10/5): - .
- William (8/5): - Not bad for the price and location.
- Phillip (4/5): - Waiting to get coffee in the morning because homeless people were getting their cup. Arrived at 1pm and check in was 3pm. Asked if we could leave the car and go get lunch and check in when we return. Yes, at a rate of $10 per hour despite being a guest for 3 nights. Went to get in the car with our kids and found a completely nude woman touching herself by our car. Shouting profanity. Management did nothing.
- kiyoshi (4/5): - The rooms and bathrooms itself are ok but need more attention. I found a bug crawling on the air conditioner. The tv also did not work. Only picked up a few Asian channels and that’s it. Remotes need to be fixed. The main guy in the office is rude and needs to change his attitude. Too much loud noise late at night. People stomping and screaming while we tried to sleep. Wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’re staying 1 or 2 nights the most. Only good thing it’s close to the Hollywood Blvd walk of fame
- Jaseth (6/5): - The inroom facilities are not in a good condition
- justin (10/5): - Convenient location.
- Debashish (8/5): - Good and economical
- Oscar (8/5): It’s great if your in a budget. - It’s in a perfect spot if you’re going to universal studios , Hollywood , the observatory etc, for the price it works . We have stayed here a couple of times this last time we had some loud neighbors but eventually they quiet down , but other ritmé had no complaints. It’s small a little run down but for the price it the one of the best , if your on a budget , the service was friendly not much that we needed from them only check in And check out , parking got full at night so definitely didn’t want to move my car later that 8 pm , it worked just fine for us for a 3 day trip to LA we basically just needed somewhere to rest that was close to everything and safe to leave my car at night .
- Robert (8/5): - This motel is literally on Hollywood Blvd just a few blocks from Mann’s Chinese Theater. The staff at the front desk can be extremely rude at times. They ask you to leave a $20 deposit for your room key and TV remote! That being said, I have stayed here several times because of its amazing location.
- Lavell (2/5): Hollywood La Brea Roaches, Mold, and Dirt on my!😱 - We stayed at Hollywood La Brea inn and the room was a huge disappointment upon arrival. From dirty sheets, dried blood and urine on mattress covers, mold in bathrooms, dead roaches on the floor, urine on the toilet seat , rude staff, and no working tv in one of our rooms. Our rooms we’re located at the very bottom area in the corner and random guest we’re knocking on our door at 3am. "Complementary breakfast “ consists of stale coffee and a little Debbie’s hunny bun. Beds and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. Plumbing is an issue as well. Our sink and tub took a while to drain. Very tight parking spaces and homeless people all around. Needless to say, We’ll never stay here again. Save your money and time and book somewhere else. You’ve been warned.
- Dustin (8/5): Great spot in Hollywood - Location is great just steps away from beginning of walk of fame. If you just need a place to sleep then this is your spot. No frills just a room with basic necessities when you don’t want to spend a lot on a room and parking.
- Steven (10/5): - Suited all of my needs for this trip. Great location, easy parking, very nice staff, comfortable.
- Samantha (10/5): - Right on Hollywood blvd ( star of Elvis and the Beatles just steps away) and yet out of the way of foot traffic, its tucked behind a corner plaza so kind of hidden which we like but getting to it durring heavy traffic may be a pain. If you plan to park you car and just walk everywhere else like we did its perfect. Just dont forget your walking shoes. Minor issues like a leaky sink handle seem small when your out most of the time. No breakfast but they offer coffee. Overall it was a good stay and I would cone back.
- Anderson (10/5): - Everything was good
- Jocelyn (8/5): - It was nice we only stayed one night , the staff were nice! But our first room had a big spider and outside. We were moved to another room so that was nice. The room in general had a lot of room. We manage to fit 5 ppl in two beds and a foldable bed.
- Robert (6/5): - Great location. Channel selection subpar. Badly needs a remodel. Probably won't happen. Plenty of parking.
- James (10/5): - Hidden Gem!! Perfect location in.the heart of Hollywood at La Brea and Hollywood Blvd - Excellent prices and no ridiculous $100 per night Security deposit as are many hotels in LA and New York -- It ain't the Hilton, but so what!?? Get out and enjoy the LA 💯♥️♥️.
- Steven (10/5): - Convenient, met my needs, clean, comfortable
and wonderful staff.
- Gareth (8/5): - Staff at checkin were not friendly at all and there was a $20 cash deposit just for the room keycard.
The rooms were basic but very clean.
Location was the best part with close access to bus and train and Walk of Fame.
Overall I would recommend a stay here.
- Laarni (6/5): - Needs updating. Smelly bathroom. Insects. Property is in good location
- Andy (10/5): - Handing someone a remote and requesting a $20 deposit for it set very low expectations at check-in. However the room was very clean but for sure dated. Everyone around the property appeared pretty sober 😁
- Napong (6/5): - The room is fine. The service is fine. But the breakfast is not that great, the donuts, crackers, and bad coffee ruined the point.
- paulino (2/5): - Need a kinder desk clerk. Tv didn’t work. Fan in bathroom didn’t work. Checkin was combative. Not staying here again.
- Lilia (8/5): - Terrible breakfast, rude receptionist. Overall experience was good, Hollywood in a walking distance and parking was always available. Room was clean
- Maria (6/5): - It is in very good area. The breakfast they offer is only coffee, tea and chocolate glazed donuts. The price for the area was ok.
- Madeline (4/5): - I didn't like the area, felt unsafe. The entrance was very small and difficult to get into. The room was a good size and clean But there was no hot water to shower , not even warm. Parking was available but small and awkward. Breakfast was not your typical breakfast: Donuts, cookies, and coffee. that old saying" you get what you paid for" was right on!
- Alastair (4/5): Very tired. - This was a disappointing hotel. We booked it to be relatively close to Universal Studios and assumed that a hotel on Hollywood Blvd would be ok. The pictures made it out to be pretty tired and the reality was the same. No joke, “Breakfast” was a biscuit and a cup of coffee. The chocolate donuts ran out and weren’t worth waiting for.
On the second morning I also witnessed a robbery from one of the rooms. Felt very edgy.
- George (10/5): - Great place for the price, it's really worth it. Whoever didn't enjoy the stay should look for pricier options and stop complaining.
- walter (10/5): - N/A
- Tetiana (8/5): - Very good locating to walking. Many attractions nearby.A 2 minute walk from the hotel is Roberts russian cuisine- excellent like home made food. Very very tasty
- Jay (8/5): - It's an average motel with average amenities.
- Somsak (8/5): - Morning noise
- Anatoliy (10/5): - cool hotel
- ignacio (8/5): Vacaciones - Todo estuvo bien
- Matthew Emmanuel (8/5): - Good
- Rosa (10/5): - It was reasonable for the price.
- Mondia (8/5): - They have clean rooms, comfy bed, great shower. Great location for wandering the blvd.
- Briana (2/5): - Window in bathroom and screen was popped opened.front door was not closed all the way and room felt unsafe
- Yashwant (10/5): - Good service and very nice
- Verified traveler (4/5): Rented Our Reserved Room to Someone Else - My wife is a wheelchair user. We booked a wheelchair accessible room. We showed up at 5:30pm. Apparently someone else showed up at 5:15pm so he gave our room to that person so we were stuck in a normal room for a night.
A cash deposit was needed to get the room key, which we had no clue about until we arrived.
Was pretty clean with a good location, but the walls were very thin and the beds were so hard it aggravated an old back injury.
They did give us $50 off for our room not being accessible the first night.
- Matthew (2/5): - Staff rude and too busy arguing with each other in the back to help check in.
- Geena (8/5): - This place did the job for our trip! We truly only needed a place to stay for the night to rest and shower at. The parking lot is hard to get into if you don’t know what to look for.
The gentleman that checked us in was super friendly and understanding of our later check in.
Everything you’d expect out of a motel! I would definitely come back to stay.
- Jianjun (8/5): - Too few options for breakfast
- David (8/5): Decent Motel near Chinese and El Capitan Theater - This was a comfortable motel within walking distance of the El Capitan theater. Pillows are the normal super flat ones that do nothing for side sleepers, so bring your own pillow if you are able to. The area can be a little noisy with it being close to the cross streets of two popular streets, nothing a white noise phone app shouldn't be able to mostly address. Will definitely stay here again for the next movie marathon at the El Capitan.
- Sue (4/5): Don’t stop look elsewhere - The rooms was dirty and old. We had to be moved because the noise coming from the room next door. The second room was worse the the first room. Couldn’t wait to leave. The only good thing was location.
- BRYAN (10/5): Perfect budget stay - I stayed here during the Phish 3 night run at Hollywood Bowl. It was clean, affordable and exactly the kind of no frills place I needed within my travel budget. The person at the front desk was very nice and helpful.
- Sue (10/5): - For the area, the La Brea Inn is affordable and safe. It is an older property, but they have free coffee, donuts and cookies every morning, and they are serious about protecting the property from wanderers. They require a cash deposit of $20 for the room key and the TV remote control. You get it back when you check out.
- Matthew (6/5): - The staff were genuine and pleasant. Very understanding.
That's about where the Pro's end and the Con's begin. Cash deposit required for room key & TV remote, not that you'll be using the remote because only six channels are available and it's none of the ones you're hoping for.
The area is convenient, if sketchy. Saw the police no less than twice during my two night stay.
Bottomline: Outdated and overpriced. Stay away from the breakfast.
- Juan Carlos (4/5): - This motel's location is very convenient, given that is literally 2 blocks away form the Hollywood's blvd chinese theater. However, the rooms, are outdated, very outdated. Carpet looks extremely dirty. I was very skeptical about the bedsheet and cover, because really the place looks like a hookup place or a place where people do their businesses for the day and go about their day. They make you give $20 deposit and hand you your key, and tv remote control until you check out and bring it back. If you need a "Do not disturb" sign, you need to ask the office as well. Rooms do not have microwave, In order to microwave you food, guess need to use the one in the office which is the only one they have and is not very clean at all. They advertise breakfast, but in reality , breakfast. is just mini donuts and or a few oranges and some coffee. This motel would make so much money if they spent a little in renovating it and cleaning it. However, they do not seem to care much about this place. Its conveniently located but needs major major update and cleaning.
- Wendell (2/5): - Our stay was full of disappointment, the smell of our room was unpleasant, we haven’t use the bathroom yet there’s hair on the walls, the television/cable was so useless my kids can’t find any channel that suits them and the worst of this is that we found a f*cking bed bugs… not just one but 5, it’s so unhygienic and disgusting.
- Miguel (8/5): - Perfect
- Justin (6/5): - Cheap place to stay but the price keeps rising. Weird people trying to sell you drugs creep around and the front staff can present themselves a little careless when it comes to questions.
The area is fun to be in during the day, just a little shady at night.
- Nikoloz (8/5): - I always stayi in this hotel, when I am in Los Angeles. It is in the heart of Hollywood, close to shops and groceries, with a good price, nice rooms, parking on site, clean etc. Thank you and wish you many guests.
- Nikoloz (8/5): - I stayed many times in this hotel, when I am in Los Angeles. It is in the heart of Hollywood, close to shops and groceries, with a good price, nice and clean rooms, parking on site, etc. Thank you.
- Gerardo (2/5): - Not the best place to stay at... room was dirty with stains on the sheets and even on the curtains... and my girlfriend woke up with a lot of bug bites on her
- Gus (10/5): - It's a decent motel for the price and location.
- Clara (2/5): - We have bites all over us. Not sure if it's bed bugs or something else.
- Daniel (2/5): - The Inn needs a complete redo. The shower head just flipped all over the place and the tub was so slippery that I almost fell. The lady who took me to the room made me feel like a criminal and insisted on all the things like the operator for the t.v. be returned to the desk. The Asian gentlemen was nice, but I would not recommend the hotel. There was no heat in the room, but they gave me a small heater. Over price and very poor quality.
- Verified traveler (4/5): not worth - dirty carpet and just warm water in shower. breakfast is cookies only. spoiled our trip. families please avoid
- Noralie (8/5): - Close to walk of fame
- Raquel (6/5): - Good location really close to the walk of fame
- Robert (2/5): Avoid This Hotel! - Old and not kept very well. Repairs were poorly done. Getting into the parking lot was a challenge. The mattresses were very uncomfortable. Our shower needed a new shower head. The water came out as a drizzle. The towels were old and thin. There were no cups in the room.I could go on but lets just say that it deserves a poor rating. We were very disappointed.
- Jenae (6/5): - The property owners super friendly , gave us a more secure room which was appreciated as I had my 3 kids with me. The hotel was clean in our room but very old and had that old smell. Felt uneasy sleeping there. Was happy to leave … hotel I think needs some upgrades. Parking was very private. I don’t think I’d stay here again.
- christopher (2/5): - Front desk guy was rude.
- christopher (2/5): - Desk person was rude , dissmissive and very inefficient.
- Israel (4/5): Good for budget only - Getting in this place was a nightmare. The entrance is the size of our sedan. The man in the office was nice, and polite. But the room was low rated. The beds were wobbly, definitely need to invest in new mattresses. There were roaches in the restroom. The blinds were broken or office the railing, we had to fix it as much as possible so no light would come in. The A/C was broken but we were able to get the ac on, after a few tries. Being from texas I believe we paid too much for what this property offers. But if your on a budget, it will do.
- Alfreddy (6/5): Very close ro walk of fame Holywood - The location is very close to walk of fame of hollywood.
- Vinicio (6/5): - Everything was great
The staff is super nice
But the shower was horrid
It was more of a drip
- John (6/5): - Noisy and curtains would not close; will never stay there again!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Incredibly difficult to check in even after payment had been made online. RIDICULOUS
