Guest Reviews
- Getaway52493470735 (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Excellent old style Hotel and staff.Buffet breakfast 10/10 and buffet evening meal 10/10.Sauna from 16.00-20.00.Shuttle service to the ski slopes.Olga, the best ever receptionist, very professional and helpful. The bedrooms were clean and tidy.
- Jaspar (10/5): Very nice - will happily stay again - Nice charming hotel in a quiet spot, but only a short walk from the slopes. Certainly great value.
The included breakfast and dinner buffets were both pretty decent, better than most that I have experienced in the past.
Friendly staff.
- bethanyg29 (10/5): Would 100% recommend - Having just got back from our ski trip staying at Hotel Bor we cannot rave about it enough. The hotel had an extremely warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff were so lovely and helpful! Although it was quiet due to the time of year (mid March) it was still extremely well organised and the standard of care and quality was superb. The hotel provided a free shuttle at certain times in the morning to and from the slopes and then back again late afternoon which was only about a 3 minute drive or a 10 minute walk into the town centre.
We stayed in a standard room which was basic but clean with new towels everyday. The beds were so comfortable and the showers were great, just what was needed after a long day skiing although a bath would have been perfect!! The hotel had a games rooms with pool, air hockey and table tennis which were all cheap to play.
The food was buffet style for breakfast and dinner but the quality, choice and service were exceptional!
For Borovets itself, the town was busy and vibrant with lots of places to eat and drink and beautiful views of the slopes. The resort was great with a range of easy and difficult runs and enough to ski within a week.
All in all we couldn’t recommend Hotel Bor enough and feel we got so much for the value of our trip!!
- Subhrendu (10/5): Great place to stay - Great value for money. Breakfast/dinner had wide choices and dinner varied every day. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Christopher (8/5): - Great hotel for the price. Food was good.
- guzii (10/5): Hotel Bor in Borovets.... 👌 - We would rate Bor hotel in Borovets as 10 out of 10. The hotel is super clean and makes you feel super welcome. Everything was exceptional and the food offered as buffet was always varied and plentiful.
The staff also went out of their way to be helpful and very friendly. Thanks to all but especially to Deane Jordan and Ellia. Will definitely encourage and recommend to all to go and visit.
- annato567 (10/5): Lovely hotel in beautiful and relaxing location - We really enjoyed our trip to Botovets and in particular Hotel Bor we stayed at. Nice size room , fit with comfortable beds, good shower , fridge. The most important amazing amazing view on pines and slopes ( we stated at 305).
Food is really good , fresh and delicious ( very likely organic and local ) with good choice of white and red meat and vegetables . Lovely choice of cakes and fresh fruits. We were halfbord and always enjoyed our breakfast and dinner.
Wr liked that hotel is slightly away from the Main Street, it in quite and peaceful location where you enjoy birds songs not the sound of car engines. Me and my son happily walked to the slopes every day ( we kept ski overnight at the storage which is very reasonable priced ). It is actually better to give muscles a bit of walking after a day of skiing to make them relax.
Borovets is really good place for kids to learn skiing , all organised very cleverly in my opinion.
So please come and enjoy and I hope you find my review helpful.
- O7445EEivanab (10/5): Great experience! - I loved it. Beautiful place on a great location. The food was perfect, with local specialties included. Spa is amazing, intimate and relaxing. I would visit it again, especially during winter season, since Zlatibor offers many activities, and beautiful nature.
- Karen (8/5): On the slopes - Rooms r basic
About 15 mins walk to the centre which is a long way when it’s -4
All taxis £10 wherever u go
Breakfast was average but the dinner was good
- Nissanjuke1 (8/5): A Rumble on the Rila - Bor Off - We have skied in Bulgaria multiple times over the years. And have always been captivated by the timeless charm of Borovets.
This trip all be it a long time coming saw us staying in the Hotel Bor, billed as one of the original structures of old Borovets. Fortunately, it is in a better state of repair than structures around it
The hotel is set in the forest, & although circa a 7 minute walk into the resort, transport to & from the slopes is available.
The hotel is very tastefully decorated & although basic has everything you would want. Definitely recommended to stay. An extensive drinks selection available. Beautiful views of the Rila mountain from the dining room
We would like to thank all of the staff, management & those that make the wheels turn to ensure that those deviants that ski. Have a fabulous time. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Jordan AKA (one more please) who could not have been more attentive & helpful.
The house keeping staff are amazing, rooms & towels cleaned everyday.
This hotel was worth every penny, & we can appreciate how difficult things have been. But thank you for making this experience an experience. BLAGODARYA TI
- P8424GGjamesl (8/5): Great place for a ski trip - Nice hotel clean rooms you get looked after if your in the bar and the food is generous if not to everyone’s taste but very Bulgarian .
Room was nice and warm and I spent the days on the slopes , it’s not too far to walk In snowboard boots but generally I’d use the shuttle which you book your times at the reception .
I’d have no problem coming here again if I do another trip
- Jon (8/5): Pleasant hotel for the price - Hotel is basic but adequate, breakfast is pretty good however the evening meal was disappointing hence only dined in on the first night. There is table tennis, pool, air hockey table and a new sauna available free to use from 4pm to 8pm daily. Overall a pleasant stay based on the price. The hotel is about a 10min uphill walk away from the Gondola which is ok but not ideal but there is ample free parking.
- nicksta2 (6/5): Too far from the slopes! - Big issue with the shuttle bus! The hotel is quite a way from the slopes, something we were fully aware of when we booked but decided would be ok as they advertise a shuttle bus to the gondola and back. It’s about a 15 minute walk, all uphill and fine in snow boots or trainers (if going in to town of an evening) but not doable in ski boots. The shuttle bus was an absolute joke! There were 4 that went in the morning, each carrying 6 people at a time (there were 6 of us) and just 2 coming back. You had to book 2 days in advance to get a place so we ended up not getting out until 10 am for first couple of days. The driver was by far the rudest and most miserable man we’ve ever met! First day at drop off I asked him where the pick up point was and he shrugged his shoulders and walked off, he literally didn’t crack a smile all week. The bus didn’t turn up at all to pick us up on 2 occasions. The first we waited in the cold for 25 minutes before calling the hotel to ask where he was. After putting the phone down on us they eventually sent one taxi who would only take 4 of us. We got a second one in the end and the driver got the fare from reception. The next morning when we turned up for the bus the driver informed us that he wouldn’t be doing a pick up that day either so we would be stranded again 😡 we ended up putting snow boots or trainers in our backpacks and skiing with them all day just so we could get home! It’s such a shame as we noticed over the week that other hotels that were further out just came backwards and forwards until everyone was dropped off or collected. It spoilt the holiday for us somewhat and we won’t be returning - too much hassle!
It’s a shame as there’s a nice bar area/lounge where the waiter was very attentive.
The food at breakfast and dinner was average, very repetitive, we ate out 3 nights out of 6.
There’s a games area upstairs but you have to pay for pool balls, etc., think this could have just been provided.
Rooms are clean, warm and a good size compared to a ski hotel you’d get in the Alps, with plenty of storage.
Reception staff are not happy in their job!
- I3943LEjeffh (10/5): Fabulous, great value hotel in Borovets - We went as a group of 14. Rooms were well equiped, maintained and clean. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was good and plentiful. Location was perfect, close to the slopes with fabulous views. Highly recommended.
- 707zoem (8/5): Ski holiday with friends - We have just returned from a weeks skiing in Borovets and had not stayed in this hotel before but will be returning!
The rooms are basic but very clean and warm and have everything you require. The staff could not be more helpful and accommodating and made us feel very welcome from the moment we entered.
The restaurant was superb and reserved a table for 14 every day for us so we could all sit together and the staff were lovely . The food offered excellent choice and even as service was coming to an end they were always making sure enough food was available.
It is positioned abut 10 - 15 mins walk from the centre but they do have a shuttle but this allows for a more peaceful location but with views of the Rila which is lovely when all the lights are on for night skiing.
Excellent price and we will return
- MarkSherwin (10/5): Nicely run, warm feel, super. - Staying over half term in room 110 - rooms warm and clean, shower hot and powerful, breakfast and evening meals plenty of options. Restaurant nicely laid out and great views especially at night when the slopes are lit for night skiing with pines as a backdrop. Bar area had a good vibe, the bar man/team worked extremely hard and was very friendly as were all the staff. Location is an easy 10 minute stroll so not too far at all if you forget to book shuttle bus on Reception desk. The stroll is a good chance to chat !
The hotel is good value but that would mean little if the team were not so strong on service and professional friendliness.Thank you for helping make this trip with my son so memorable. And the wifi was also strong throughout our stay. :)
- 905karlyh (10/5): Christmas and new year - Stayed over Christmas and new year, rooms warm and clean, shower hot and powerful, breakfast and evening meals brilliant plenty of options and food was hot. Bar area had a good vibe, the bar man worked extremely hard and was very friendly as were all the staff, location in the old part is a little walk but not to far, there is a Shuttle bus which is useful along with the ski store area. Beautiful views especially at night when the slopes are lit for night skiing/ snowboarding. Would recommend this hotel and definitely stay again
- Georginik1 (10/5): Ski vacation in Borovets - Very friendly, kind and helpful staff! Excellent variety and exceptional tasteful food. The views from the hotel to all the slopes are breathtaking. The rooms are warm and clear with very comfortable beds. Although the hotel is little bit far from the ski slopes there shuttle bus several times all day long. I couldn’t recommend this place more!
- ahmet (8/5): hoş bir kayak tatili - iste yürüyüş mesafesinde olması açısından güzeldi. odalar rahat ve kullanışlı idi. banyo biraz küçük
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place to stay :) - Lovely place to stay with family. Ate in the main restaurant most evenings but walked into the village centre for dinner occasionally, which is a 10 minute stroll. The mattresses seemed new and comfy (I’m very fussy and was worried about that) so I believe have been replaced since the comments in previous years.
- stuhulley (10/5): Nice place. Amazing value - This hotel is amazing value. It is about 500m from the ski lifts/gondola but with a free Hotel bus service to the slopes. The decor is very slightly dated but entirely functional. The Food was always excellent with breakfast and dinner included in the price. Most importantly the staff could not be more attentive and made the stay a very pleasant one.
- E5900ZYalexz (10/5): Impressions - The expectations for the stay of my family were fully met - cleanliness, safety, comfort and tasty food. Convenient location and polite and responsive staff. We enjoyed our stay and look forward being there again!
- misswillows1 (8/5): Good hotel but food cold - Stayed here in February for a week, lovely location and lovely hotel that’s recently been refurbished. Rooms are nice but basic, had a smokey smell in the bathroom, shower curtain was mouldy at the bottom. Food was ALWAYS cold and we found they didn’t replace it, it just sat there for hours on end. We reheated our stuff in the toaster at breakfast 🤣 staff were super friendly and polite, bar man was super helpful and nice giving us hot water for our pot noodles in our room 😁 was walking distance to the town and slopes! Lovely view from rooms! Would stay here again! But go self catering!!!
- mo (10/5): Great hotel in Borovets - Spent two week at Hotek Bor in Borovets. Really enjoyed my time at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The view of the mountain is lovely. Breakfast and dinner buffets were great. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the main gondola, yet it is about a 12 minute walk to the Gondola. Perfect way to get a little warm up before heading to the mountain for skiing & snowboarding. I would definitely consider staying at Hotel Bor again for my next visit to Borovets.
- MavWeeks84 (8/5): Great value - Stayed here for 2 nights, rooms basic but very functional. Clean hotel throughout and excellent value for money. Staff friendly and helpful and it’s approximately 1hr 30 mins from Sofia Airport. The slopes or centre where the lifts are approximately a 2 minute cab journey which costs 10 Levs or approximately a 10-15 minute walk.
- HOLIDAY2002 (6/5): Edelweiss (sister to Bor) - Limited information/reviews on Hotel Edelweiss....
Well it’s a sister hotel to Hotel Bor. Both some 15 minute walk from the lifts/shops/restaurants.
Edelweiss is 3 star and correctly graded. The staff are friendly and do their best. the building is old and could do with a makeover. Especially the mattresses.
But my visit was for the skiing so the Hotel was simply to store my bag & sleep...
It’s basic, cheap and adequate.... no major faults
- deborahw721 (8/5): Quiet hotel - Stayed here with my 12 year old son. Lovely location. Was one the first hotels built. I have attached old photo on display in The Rila.
Just 10 minute walk into centre. Booked via Balkan holidays and got a great rate. Few Brits here but reception and barman spoke English. Food ok but may not suit fussy eater but always a few choices. Lovely views from dining area.
Our room was refurbished. Big. Plenty of storage. Quiet. Fridge.
No towel change for week however and sheets don't fit bed. Wish i'd brought my own fitted sheet
Bar prices low compared to bars.
Really wouldn't call this a cute cosy hotel but perfectly functional.
- patrick (10/5): Quiet spacious hotel, very good value - Quiet hotel at edge of the resort, a bit old fashioned and slightly shabby, but clean , plenty of good food and helpful staff.
- Maria (10/5): Nice and quiet - I've spent a week in the hotel and did not have any issues wit the accommodation. It was quiet, clean and cheap in price but not in service. Staff was polite and smiling. The food in the restaurant was plenty and delicious.
- AmandaW671 (8/5): Quiet and good value - Stayed hear for a few days snowboarding, it is a quiet hotel about 10 minutes walk from the centre. A small hotel with its original 80s decor. Rooms are a good size and hotel is clean. Breakfast typical buffet but plenty of selection. At less than £30 per night (twin room for one person) it was excellent value. There is a shuttle to the slopes which take 5 mind or about a 15 mi. Walk to the gondola.
- Verified traveler (6/5): great location - great location ,walking distance to the center, tasty food but lack of selection, clean and warm rooms, good wi fi ,
the lobby is cold ans the bar is not operated like it could (not enough staff)
I would suggest a game room for the kids, more staff (younger )
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice staff but too far away - The hotel is quite a low standard. It probably used to be a grand hotel a long time ago but it's really far from the pistes and quite run down.
The staff were nice but that was the only redeeming feature
- ron (6/5): Hotel Bor - Wifi was poor in rooms on higher floors, buffet on the third day was off and just a plate of random food.
- Simon (10/5): Hotel bor - Hotel Bor is clean, warm, comfortable beds and great staff, out of the way but nothing that a 5 minute walk wouldn't fix.
We've hired our ski gear from
Pro xtreme side of the gondola fantastic service tell them simon sent you! Cheap as chips
- Verified traveler (6/5): A bit tired. 15 mins walk to the piste. - Room too hot. Last occupants had smoked. Otherwise good basic hotel with a nice communal area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel bor - Excellent value for money and only 5 minutes up the hill from the slopes ( once you find the wee shortcut) the room was basic but very clean and warm. Nice friendly staff I would definitely book there again.
- Marya (10/5): - The hotel is very clean and warm.Very comfortable bed.Location is fantastic.
